However, he also mistakenly claimed that the Liverpool star and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne came through Chelsea’s academy.
The Egyptian forward, 30, actually came through the ranks in his homeland at Al Mokawloon.
And their director Mohamed Adel Fathi has now hit back at Boehly for “showing a lack of understanding’ and being ‘ignorant”.
He said in a Facebook post, via GOAL: “What the new owner of Chelsea says shows a lack of understanding.

“Mohamed Salah is a source of pride for the Al Mokawloon Club and Egyptian and Arab football, and we are honoured that he is one of our sons.
“The whole world knows Salah’s career and how he started with us, but it seems that the owner of Chelsea is the only person in the world who is ignorant of this information.”
Salah started his career at the Cairo-based team after four years in their academy from 2006.
He went on play 38 league games for the club and scored 11 goals before signing for Swiss side Basel in 2012.

His form there then earned him a move to Chelsea at the age of 21 in 2014 but he failed to make the breakthrough at Stamford Bridge.
Salah was loaned out to Serie A sides Fiorentina and Roma, with the latter eventually buying him permanently.
The star hit top form in Italy before Liverpool swooped to bring him to Anfield in 2017, and he has not looked back since, becoming a legend for the Reds.
Boehly had suggested at the SALT forum that Chelsea’s youth academy deserves credit for developing stars such as Salah and De Bruyne – who actually was developed by Genk.
He said: “We have one of the best academies in the world.
“If you look at what our academy has developed, our academy is Mo Salah, Kevin De Bruyne. More recently, Tammy Abraham, Reece James, Mason Mount, Trevoh Chalobah.”
De Bruyne moved to Chelsea in 2012 from Genk but struggled to make an impact in his limited appearances for the West London club.

He was sent out on loan to Werder Bremen but eventually joined Wolfsburg in 2014 where he started to produce some stunning displays, leading to City signing him in 2015.
Both him and Salah were already internationals for Belgium and Egypt when Chelsea signed them. More

Chelsea lining up Jude Bellingham transfer with Blues set for £100m scrap with Man Utd and Liverpool for England star

CHELSEA are set to rival Liverpool and Manchester United for Jude Bellingham next summer. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is a target for a number of top clubs in Europe.

The Germans were insistent that, with Erling Haaland having joined Manchester City, Bellingham would not be sold during the most recent window.
But clubs are already lining up to make a move next year with the England starlet likely to cost upwards of £100million.
And after a record-breaking summer under Todd Boehly this season, Chelsea hope to be in the mix.
The Blues are looking to snap up some of the top young talent since the takeover and new manager Graham Potter is a huge fan of the England international.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
The 19-year-old, who scored Dortmund’s opener in their Champions League defeat at Manchester City this week, joined the German club for £20m from Birmingham City in 2020.
Having shone in the Bundesliga and in Europe his value has skyrocketed since.
Any prospective fee is only likely to increase with the potential of a starring role at the World Cup with England this winter.
Bellingham was named in the latest Three Lions squad this week and has been tipped to start alongside Declan Rice in Qatar given Kalvin Phillips’ lack of game time at Manchester City.

Asked about his future and a potential move ahead of the game at The Etihad, Bellingham said it would be disrespectful to Dortmund to consider next summer.
He said: “The club have done loads for me and made me feel very welcome since I first came and gave me the opportunities to develop even further.
“To look past that and into the future would be disrespectful.”
After investing significantly in the defence and forward line this summer, Chelsea could be in the market for midfielders next term.
They have already added Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa but will be on the hunt for long-term replacements for both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante in the near future. More

Everton to hand Chelsea target Anthony Gordon new deal worth SIX TIMES his salary – plus £75million transfer clause

EVERTON have opened talks with in-demand Anthony Gordon on a new bumper deal worth SIX times his salary. And Frank Lampard’s Toffees may have to agree to a £75million release clause in a bid to ward off Chelsea and other suitors in January.

Everton valued Gordon at £60m over the summer, with Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly only prepared to go to £40m.
And Goodison chief Lampard yesterday confirmed contract talks are under way for the 21-year-old winger.
Lampard said: “The club is speaking with Anthony and Anthony’s people to see if we can get the right solution.”
Gordon, who was named in Lee Carsley’s England Under-21 squad yesterday, signed a five-year contract in 2020 for £10,000-a-week and the pay rise could see his wage rise to £60k-per-week.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Had the move to Stamford Bridge materialised then Gordon, who sees himself playing Champions League football, might have been looking at multiplying that wage by ten.
Everton, working under tight financial control, can’t afford that much with Yerry Mina the highest earner on £6m-per-year.

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, out for a month with a thigh strain, is next in line, picking up £5m per annum.
Lampard has made no secret of his admiration for winger Gordon and dug his heels in when Chelsea came calling.

Manchester City defender Luke Mbete, 18, has also received a maiden call-up.
Boss Carsley said: “We welcome Conor Gallagher back to the group which is another example of us having a fluid pathway across our national teams.
“I know Conor will take to the pitch with as much pride in wearing an England shirt for the Under-21s as he would for the seniors.

“He – like all of our players  – can continue to take comfort in the fact that Gareth will always keep one eye on their progress; there is no glass ceiling.”
Tottenham pair Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon, as well as Sheffield United striker Rhian Brewster, are also back in the 25-man squad, having missed out in recent months due to injury.
Skipp is yet to feature for Tottenham since January due to injury problems but will hope to get game time for the Under-21s as he speeds up his recovery.
Carsley added: “I’m conscious that some of these players have played a lot this season while, at the opposite end of the scale, there are others who need match minutes.”

Aubameyang was also asked about Tuchel himself, and he said: “Everyone knows the relationship that I had with Thomas.
“It’s always sad when someone leaves the club. Obviously, I just saw him for a few days.

The Blues shared a drab 1-1 draw with the Austrian club but a bit of extra spice was added with his appearance.
Freund, 45, has held his current position at Salzburg since 2015 and has earned a reputation for unearthing talent in that time.
He enticed Erling Haaland to the club three years ago from Molde and now Chelsea owner Todd Boehly wants to bring his talents to Stamford Bridge.
ESPN’S Ben Jacobs claims that Graham Potter is expected to speak with him over the coming days.

Owner Todd Boehly likes Freund’s experience working within a multi-club model.
One of the Austrian’s tasks would also be to oversee a potential network of clubs similar to the Red Bull setup for the Chelsea brand.
Speaking at the SALT Conference in New York, Boehly said: “We’ve talked about having a multi-club model.
“I think there’s different countries where there’s advantages to having a club. Red Bull have Salzburg and Leipzig in the Champions League.

“I want to continue building out the footprint. I think there’s different countries where there’s advantages to having a club.
“We know people and human capital. We understand game plans and strategies. We’re not expecting to be the football experts to find the best talent, we are going to put those people in place.
“The challenge that Chelsea has, when you have 18, 19, 20-year-old superstars, you can loan them out to clubs, but you put their development in someone else’s hands.
“Our goal is to make sure we can show pathways for our young superstars to get onto the Chelsea pitch while getting them real game time. The way to do that is through another club in a really competitive league in Europe.”

On Wednesday night, Salzburg striker Noah Okafor stunned Stamford Bridge with a late equaliser, after Raheem Sterling had netted the opening goal of the Potter era.
Chelsea now head into a double-header against AC Milan finding themselves bottom of Group E and needing a couple of positive results if they are to advance to the group stage.
Potter, a low-key man, was given a low-key entrance on his opening night at Stamford Bridge.

And although it was a far superior performance to last week’s defeat in Dinamo Zagreb – which sealed Thomas Tuchel’s fate – the result was another poor one.

Chelsea hold talks over buying Brazilian and Portuguese side as Todd Boehly plans multi-club ownership like Man City

CHELSEA have reportedly held talks over buying Brazilian and Portuguese teams as their new owners eye a multi-club ownership model like Manchester City. Todd Boehly and the Clearlake Capital group bought the Blues earlier this year after government sanctions left Roman Abramovich’s position as club owner untenable.
New Chelsea boss Todd Boehly is making his presence felt in English footballCredit: Reuters
Boehly has wasted no time making an impact with his arrival triggering a summer spending spree, a managerial sacking and even suggestions of how to improve English football.
But the 48-year-old has bigger fish to fry and multiple reports are suggesting his ownership group could make moves for other clubs.
The Evening Standard report Chelsea have “sounded out” teams in Brazil and Portugal in an attempt to recruit clubs with traditionally good academies.
They are believed to have already contacted Santos, whose academy graduates include legends like Pele and Neymar.

But Chelsea’s efforts were reportedly rebuffed and they are now looking at other clubs in the country.
Meanwhile, the Telegraph say Chelsea could buy a club in Portugal – due in part to Boehly’s summer chat with Jorge Mendes.
The super-agent met the new London club chief in June over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
It is believe the multi-club ownership model was also discussed with sides in Mendes’ homeland in consideration.

Portugal is seen as one of the best countries to buy a ‘satellite’ club and Mendes would be the perfect “go-between” if a bid were to be made.
But it is not clear at this stage if Mendes is formally involved.
If achieved, the ownership model could resemble Man City.
The City Football Group own 11 clubs as of July this year, spanning different continents and countries.
Serie B club Palermo were the most recent side to join the group, with other major teams including New York City FC, Girona FC in Spain and Troyes in France.
The reports of Chelsea’s potential plans come after what has already been an action-packed month for the new owners.
At the beginning of September the Blues ended an expensive transfer window by sealing the loan signing of Denis Zakaria and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang permanently on deadline day.

Then they sacked Thomas Tuchel after the club’s poor start to the season.
And then Boehly was the subject of ridicule after he voiced the idea of an “All-Star” Premier League game. More
