The injury nightmare continued in the side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Thursday night as both Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic were forced off the pitch after hurting themselves.
They will join the club’s current batch of crocked players which consists of N’Golo Kante, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Edouard Mendy, Mason Mount, Ben Chilwell, Armando Broja, Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Although Mount could be back for Chelsea’s FA Cup fixture against City on Sunday, but he will have to be assessed late on.
After the game, manager Graham Potter admitted that it was one of the worse injury crises that he has contended with as a manager.

He said: “I’ve never experienced anything like it, and I’d ideally not want to experience it here.
“But it is what it is, I have to just carry on.”
According to a study by Howden’s European Football Injury Index, the club’s injury record is the worst of any club in Europe since the start of last season and is 16 more than the next worst club out of the top five leagues.
The club had removed the medical staff of club doctor Paco Biosca and head physio Thierry Laurent when the new Boehly-Clearlake ownership took charge.

Chelsea is strengthening during the January transfer window with the arrivals of defender Benoit Badiashile and David Datro Fofana helping add depth to the squad.
The Blues are also expected to complete a deal to sign young midfielder Andrey Santos as they also try to sign Benfica star Enzo Fernandez and Shakhtar Donetsk Mykhailo Mudryk.
However, as much depth they add will help, it will not alleviate players concerns for their fitness concerns. More

A total of eight first-team stars are currently in the treatment room – including Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic.
Potter said of the duo’s injuries against City: “It is tough at the moment and certainly doesn’t make it any easier.
“I feel for the boys of course as it’s one of those times but we have to stick together.
“It was disappointing to lose the guys early on.
“But the players that came onto the pitch gave everything and that’s all you can ask for.
“It’s too soon for an update. Raheem was with his first action of the game with a back-heel and Christian had some contact on his knee so fingers crossed it’s not too bad.
“Mason Mount also had a kick yesterday in training, he’ll hopefully be okay for the weekend.

“I’ve never experienced anything like it but we just have to carry on.”

The Croatian defender was already on the wishlists of plenty of English clubs thanks to his stellar rise at RB Leipzig.
However, his stock soared even higher thanks to his standout performances for Croatia at the World Cup.

Chelsea had a bid rejected in the summer but plan to go back in for Gvardiol at the end of the season – that is despite just spending £35million on Benoit Badiashile.
Tottenham are also interested while City boss Pep Guardiola is said to be keen to bring the ex-Dinamo Zagreb ace to the Etihad.
However, it is Jurgen Klopp who may be in pole position should he want to snap up the centre-half this summer before a reported £112m release clause kicks in.
That is because Gvardiol – born in 2002 – admitted he grew up supporting Liverpool.

Recent reports have suggested Real Madrid are the frontrunners to sign the England international ahead of Premier League giants Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea.
However, Ancelotti has insisted he is more than content with his existing midfield options.
Los Blancos boast a plethora of talent in the middle of the park including Luka Modric, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Ceballos, Fede Valverde.
Toni Kroos is also still a part of the squad, although he will retire at the end of the season.

But the strength in depth in Ancelotti’s side has led to him dismissing a move for Bellingham.
Speaking ahead of Real’s game with Villarreal on Saturday, he said: “Bellingham has shown at the World Cup that he is a great midfielder, but so have others.
“Enzo Fernandez has played very well. Gavi and Pedri as well.
“Bellingham is one of those very good midfielders, but I’ll stick with the ones we have.”

Ancelotti’s comments will be a boost to the host of English clubs chasing Bellingham’s signature.
The latest reports are that Liverpool are becoming concerned by his price tag given Chelsea are attempting to sign Enzo Fernandez for more than £100million.
Should the Blues complete a deal for the Argentine, 21, it would almost certainly inflate the Dortmund teenager’s value.
Bellingham has contributed 19 goals and 21 assists in 112 appearances since arriving in the Bundesliga in 2020.
He also shone for England at the World Cup, continuing to state his case as one of the best midfielders in the world.
Dortmund currently sit sixth in the German top flight, nine points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.
They have qualified for the last-16 of the Champions League – where they will face Chelsea. More
