Chelsea flop Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s hopes of rejoining Barcelona face huge stumbling block due to LaLiga rule

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG looks set to face failure over any potential return to Barcelona after a LaLiga rule emerged prohibiting a move. The Gabon striker has endured a tough spell since signing for Chelsea, and now reportedly wants to return to the Nou Camp.

But it seems his wishes will fall on deaf ears after it was revealed such a move is not legal.
Fifa rules stipulate that a player cannot play for more than two clubs in a season unless the calendar is different – opening up the possibility of an MLS move.
Since Barcelona were his previous club, a transfer is fine under these rules.
However, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has a rule which makes a deal impossible.

Article 130 reads: “A player may be registered in only one team of a club, without the possibility of being withdrawn and released by the same club in the course of the same season, except in cases of force majeure or regulatory provision.
“Likewise, during the course of the season, he/she may not be registered and play in more than three different teams.”
In addition, La Liga’s Article 141.5 says: “Footballers whose licence is cancelled may not, in the course of the same season, obtain a licence in the same team of the club to which they were already associated.”
This means that had the move been a loan instead, a return would have been permitted.

Barcelona would have “loved” the idea of bringing back the 33-year-old, who scored 13 times in 24 games for them last season.

Aubameyang joined Chelsea in £10million deal in the summer, but has failed to impress on his return to England.
He has scored just three times in 16 games and not performed well either.
The ex-Arsenal ace would have been hoping to prove a point after being frozen out at the Gunners by Mikel Arteta.
In the club’s Amazon: All or Nothing series, Arteta revealed he had a dossier of all his past indiscretions.
He told a member of his coaching staff: “I have everything documented, with the dates, the times, the conversations, how it happened, why it happened . . . because if one day it’s needed.
“(Aubameyang) has been late, apart from all the (other) issues, many times.” More

He’s hasn’t started a game since lining up against his former club Arsenal in November and has scored just three goals.
And Aubameyang has looked a shadow of his former self in recent weeks, highlighted by the fact he was subbed off after being subbed on against Manchester City last week.
As a result, AS claim the 33-year-old is unhappy at Chelsea and wants to go back to Spain.
The report states that Aubameyang is so desperate that he would be willing to return to any cost.

And he’s even been in touch with manager Xavi.
But a return to the Nou Camp is only likely to happen if Barca manage to offload Memphis Depay, who’s being linked with Atletico Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano has also claimed that the La Liga leaders would “love” the idea of re-signing the striker, but only on a free and once more stated it would hinge on Depay’s future.
Barcelona are the only club that Aubameyang can sign for because he’s already played for two teams this season.

Potter said: “I spoke really at length yesterday with Thiago, Aspi, Jorgi, Kova – we had a really good conversation. They again showed their qualities as people.
“They were honest, articulated their concerns well. They articulated their positivity, they articulated their responsibility. And I think we are in a place where we can move forward.
“It is an experienced team. The players are honest and they want to take responsibility. They want to improve, they want to win. There are a lot there, we are quite fortunate.

“But at the same time, we are in a tough moment and there are challenges that affect the players as well. They are human beings.
“They are paid to do their jobs, but they are not robots. They are still affected by results and things that are happening in terms of the transition phase of the club. But I have been really impressed.”
The clear-the-air meeting at the training ground comes as Chelsea struggle to reinvent themselves under new owners.
Potter claims his job is safe with chairman Todd Boehly despite the alarming lack of form and exit from both domestic cups.

Forward Felix has joined until the end of the season in a near £10 million temporary move. Potter will find out tomorrow whether the Portugal World Cup star is eligible to play at Craven Cottage.
Potter said: “He’s a quality player, can make a difference in the final third of the pitch, young but has obviously had a lot of really good experience. He’s a quality player that gives everyone a lift.
“He has qualities as a player, as a second striker between the lines and making something happen in the final third. We’re looking forward to working with him.”
The former Brighton boss also revealed how he that rebuilding Chelsea is “the hardest job in football”.
He added: “This club was run a certain way for 20 years and run really well. I have a lot of respect for the previous ownership and what they achieved.
“Unfortunately, they’re not here anymore, and you’ve lost all that leadership. It’s a new ownership, everything has changed pretty quickly.
“It’s an incredible amount that’s happened. Sometimes that can manifest itself in different ways.
“It would be disrespectful to expect to just pick it up with all the new staff, structures and people.

Mudryk has been a star for the club this season and is a much-wanted target of Mikel Arteta’s side.
Arsenal have had two bids turned down as Shakhtar are holding out for a larger fee, believed to be £88million.
However, the North London club are believed to be closing in on an agreement to sign him, which would be a massive boost.

London rivals Chelsea are also targetting Mudryk, but according to his social media, the 22-year-old would prefer a move to the Emirates over Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners will hope that if they can land Mudryk that he can help add some firepower in their hunt for a Premier League title.
Following injury to Gabriel Jesus, Arteta’s side are short in attack, despite Eddie Nketiah’s current purple patch of form.
This season Mudryk has netted ten times in all competitions, including three in the Champions League. More

And the Blues are willing to let his deal run down as they prioritise deals for N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount, according to The Telegraph.
Jorginho is currently free to discuss terms with clubs abroad and the report suggests that he is more likely to return to Serie A or move elsewhere than stay at Stamford Bridge.
That is unless Chelsea offer him a big new deal to convince him to stay.
He joined from Napoli for £50million in 2018 and helped the club win the Champions League, Club World Cup, Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.

However, much like the rest of the squad, he has been below par this season.
The Blues have multiple players’ contracts winding down and have more hope of agreeing a deal with the other two midfielders.
Kante is yet to play for new manager Graham Potter due to injury, but he is still rated as one of the best in the world in his position.
The Blues believe he is more likely to agree on a fresh deal rather than leave as a free agent in the summer.

Mount, on the other hand, is contracted to the club until the end of next season.
Chelsea are keen to tie down the England international on fresh terms and remove the risk of losing him to a rival.
The Blues are already lining up replacements for the Italian and have draw up a five-man shortlist of targets, including England duo Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice. More

Barcelona ‘ask LaLiga about Aubameyang transfer’ with Chelsea ace unable to join ANY other top European club

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG could be set for a return to Barcelona just five months after leaving.Spanish outlet Jijantes FC claims the Catalan club have asked La Liga about the salary they would be permitted to offer the Chelsea flop.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s only chance of staying at the highest level if he leaves Chelsea this season is a move back to BarcelonaCredit: Getty
Aubameyang, 33, joined Chelsea from Barca in a £10m deal in summer.
However, he has scored just once for the club and barely featured under boss Graham Potter.
Aubameyang has also been linked with Atletico Madrid, but such a move will not be possible in this transfer window.
Under Fifa rules, players are only allowed to play for two clubs per season.

The only exception to this rule is for players joining leagues with a different calendar (ie the MLS, which has a 2023 rather than 2022/23 season).
As Aubameyang came on as a sub for Barcelona on the opening day, he is ruled out of a move to any other major European club.
For the transfer to go through however, Barca must overcome their own financial crisis.
The report from Jijantes says that Xavi’s team must get Franck Kessie and Memphis Depay off their books to even have a chance of completing the Aubameyang deal.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano added that while Barcelona “love” the idea of getting Aubameyang back, any deal will have to be a free transfer.
The Gabon international and former Arsenal captain enjoyed a fruitful seven months at the Camp Nou in 2022, scoring 13 goals in 23 games.
However, the marquee signing of Robert Lewandowski coupled with Barca’s financial problems meant all parties decided a move to Chelsea was for the best. More

Chelsea in injury crisis as Pulisic is ruled out for ‘a couple of months’ and no time frame on Sterling return

CHRISTIAN PULISIC is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up another injury. Chelsea boss Graham Potter struck a pessimistic tone when talking about the American’s expected time out.

When asked, Potter confirmed Pulisic will be out for “a couple of months, hopefully less.”
It adds to an ever-growing list of injuries, with shocking figures revealing they have suffered 97 injuries since the start of last season – more than ANY other team in Europe.
To make things even worse for Potter and Co, Raheem Sterling also picked up an injury of his own.
However, Potter could not provide a time frame on when Sterling could return to action.

Both Sterling and Pulisic went off inside 20 minutes in the Premier League clash against Manchester City.
This was compounded by an injury suffered by Mason Mount in training which ruled him out of the tie, though Mount returned in the 4-0 drubbing in the FA Cup.
With the addition of Sterling and Pulisic to the treatment room, it now means Chelsea have EIGHT players out injured.
Among them are a number of key stars for the club, including Reece James and N’Golo Kante.

And the likes of Ben Chilwell, Wesley Fofana, Armando Broja and Edouard Mendy would certainly improve Potter’s selection pool.
Fortunately, Todd Boehly is not reluctant to splash the cash, with Chelsea announcing the signing of Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid earlier today.
The Felix signing adds to David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos and Benoit Badiashile, while they have now also leapfrogged Tottenham in the race for right wing-back Pedro Porro. More
