Man Utd’s move for Chelsea star is ‘not right’ as Ten Hag is urged to back out of transfer race

MANCHESTER UNITED would not be making the “right call” if they pursue Mason Mount.Red Devils cult hero Louis Saha believes they should forget about signing the Chelsea midfielder following a dip in form.

United, Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with the England international this summer, whose contract negotiations at Stamford Bridge have stalled.
Mount wants pay parity with Chelsea’s top stars – but has only scored three and made two goals in his 22 Premier League appearances this season.
And Saha told Lord Ping: “Mason Mount can fit in at any team, but I don’t think he’s had a great year at Chelsea and I’m not sure why he’d be linked more than he was before seeing as he was on fire last year.
“I don’t think he should move to United as he hasn’t been playing well.

“I think these rumours are coming from agents and I’m not going to blame the media, but moving for Mount is not the right call at the moment.”
Saha has also played down the need for United to try to sign another England international in Declan Rice.
The former striker believes the West Ham star is not needed at Old Trafford because the club already have Casemiro.
He added: “Declan Rice is a top player but he’s not in the same league as Casemiro.

“It’s not about the energy levels or how strong you are, it’s about how smart and experienced you are and there’s no better player than Casemiro in this category.
“It will take Rice time to adjust to this level, but he’s a good player and could become it but I don’t think United need him at the moment because we have sold this issue after such a long time.” More

Emi Martinez ‘WILL be made available for summer transfer exit’ from Aston Villa after Emery slammed him for Arsenal loss

EMILIANO MARTINEZ will reportedly be made available for transfer by Aston Villa this summer. The 30-year-old hit the headlines after helping Argentina to win the World Cup in December.

He was named goalkeeper of the tournament but caused a furore moments after collecting the Glove Glove award by putting the trophy to his crotch and thrusting it forward.
That led to the recently-appointed Villa boss Unai Emery warning the stopper that he must learn to control his emotions.
But Emery slammed Martinez again this weekend for his part in Gabriel Martinelli’s goal for Arsenal.
The goalie decided to go up for a corner in the final moments with his side trailing 3-2.

And the Gunners were able to counter quickly and score a fourth goal as the Brazilian tapped into an unguarded net.
Now the Daily Mail are claiming that “Aston Villa would consider offers this summer” for their No 1.
Although it is said they “are set to demand a high price”.
Martinez arrived at the club from Arsenal three years ago in a £16million move and last year agreed a new £100,000-a-week, five-year contract to become their top earner.

He has previously declared his ambition to win the Champions League, something he is unlikely to be able to do with Villa at present, but is believed to be happy at the club.
Villa are under no pressure to sell either, although they “are not closed to the idea of doing so” with Emery reported to be wanting more of a “sweeper-keeper” for his side.
A host of clubs could all be in the market for a new goalkeeper come the end of the season, including both Manchester United and Tottenham.
Chelsea have also been urged to try and sign Martinez by Joe Cole after Edouard Mendy rejected a new contract.
Villa reportedly know that the South American is one of the players in their squad that is “guaranteed to generate a healthy profit” and it could see Martinez become one of the most-expensive goalkeepers on the planet.
Chelsea Kepa Arrizabalaga is the current top dog after his £71m transfer from Athletic Bilbao in 2018.

More trouble for Graham Potter as Champions League rivals Borussia Dortmund are ONLY team in Europe with impressive stat

PRESSURE is piling onto Chelsea boss Graham Potter, and an impressive stat boasted by Borussia Dortmund does not bode well for him. Chelsea are on the brink of elimination from the Champions League following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Germans in the first leg of their last 16 clash.

But Borussia Dortmund boast an incredible stat which could prove to be Chelsea’s downfallCredit: Getty
Chelsea must now overturn that deficit at Stamford Bridge on March 7.
However, it could prove to be too tough a task for the out-of-form Blues, with Borussia Dortmund flying high in 2023.
The German title challengers are the only side in Europe’s Top 10 leagues to have kept up a 100 per cent record in all competitions since the turn of the year.
They have won eight games from games in all competitions, and are now level on points with Bayern Munich and Union Berlin at the top of the Bundesliga.

Strike starlet Karim Adeyemi, who scored against Chelsea in the first leg, has been ruled out of the second leg.
Despite this, Dortmund will not necessarily be weaker by his absence, with English wonderkid Jamie Bynoe-Gittens – dubbed the next Jadon Sancho – set to replace him in the line-up.
Chelsea’s horror run continued at the weekend when James Ward-Prowse’s stunning free-kick earned Southampton a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
Potter, who now sports the WORST record of any manager in Chelsea’s Premier League history, came under fire for his team selection in the fixture.

‘Is this a joke?’ – Potter and Boehly slammed over Chelsea team selection after £600m transfer spree

GRAHAM POTTER and Todd Boehly have been slammed for starting David Datro Fofana after their mega transfer outlay at Chelsea.Blues owner Boehly spent a stunning £326m in the January transfer window – which is more than a third of the total £815m paid across the whole of the Premier League – to take his outlay to more than £600m in under a year.

But their scoring problems have still persisted with their form continuing to take a nosedive.
Boss Potter turned to Datro Fofana, the 20-year-old who arrived from Molde for £10.5m last month, to lead his team’s attack against bottom of the table Southampton on Saturday.
But Chelsea once again drew a blank as the Saints shocked Stamford Bridge and claimed a 1-0 win.
Despite all of the new signings, the failure to capture a genuine top striker has led to many criticising the club and their transfer policy.

Now BBC pundit Garth Crooks, a former forward for Tottenham, Manchester United and England, has joined in.
He wrote: “So Chelsea have spent over £600m in the transfer window and had to turn to a 20-year-old unknown in David Datro Fofana to provide them with the goals they desperately need? Is this a joke?”

Crooks added: “I said last week I wasn’t sure if Todd Boehly knew what he was doing. I’m now asking the same question of Graham Potter.
“The apprehension in the air was penetrating. We all know that it can’t go on like this.”

The latest setback left Chelsea sitting tenth in the Premier League, a massive 11 points off the top four.
And they must overturn a 1-0 deficit in the second leg of their last 16 tie with Borussia Dortmund in order to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
But their hopes have been given a minor boost with chief tormentor from the first leg, Karim Adeyemi, OUT for the clash. More

The 24-year-old picked up a knee injury in the 1-0 defeat by Manchester City on January 5, right at the start of the transfer window.
Chelsea then signed Mudryk in an £88million deal from Shakhtar Donetsk.
And, speaking on CBS’s House of Champions podcast, Fabrizio Romano declared: “The plan was Mudryk in, Pulisic out.”
But Pulisic’s injury complicated matters and he ended up staying at Stamford Bridge.

Pulisic is yet to make his return from the knee injury sustained against City, but earlier this month posted a picture of himself with the caption: “Back soon.”

As well as Mudryk, Chelsea also signed attackers Noni Madueke and Joao Felix in January.
And Romano claims Pulisic could be moved on in the summer.

Man Utd and Chelsea transfer target Victor Osimhen broke Cristiano Ronaldo jump record and plays like Didier Drogba

MANCHESTER menaces Erling Haaland and Marcus Rashford are the talk of the Premier League — but a star 1,500 miles away is causing a stir in Italy.Nigeria hitman Victor Osimhen has scored 19 in 23 games for runaway Serie A leaders Napoli and has been compared to former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba by none other than old boss Jose Mourinho.

If the Blues have their way, Osimhen could follow in Drogba’s footsteps this summer should Todd Boehly prise him from stubborn Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The new Chelsea owner is considering a £110million summer swoop, as revealed by SunSport earlier this month.
Nigeria hero and ex-Everton forward Daniel Amokachi reckons Lagos-born Osimhen is a blend of THREE legendary African strikers — not just Ivorian Drogba but also Liberia talisman George Weah and Nigeria star Rashidi Yekini.
The 1994 World Cup star told SunSport: “Osimhen is a reflection of Rashidi Yekini, Didier Drogba and George Weah.

Osimhen, 24, is spearheading Napoli’s charge to their first Scudetto since Diego Maradona inspired the 1990 title triumph.
Tonight, Osimhen will be gunning for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

He won Serie A’s player of the month for January — scoring an outrageous goal against Mourinho’s Roma — and could be Player of the Year.
But with long limbs and a spindly frame, he looks more like a basketball player than a footballer.
He broke Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the highest jump in Serie A earlier this month with an astonishing 2.58metre leap.
His pace and strength are too much for defenders to deal with on top of his superb link-up play and movement into space.
Osimhen scores all types of goals, whether they be poacher’s tap-ins, headers and long-rangers off each foot and even from almost impossible angles, as he proved with his effort at Sassuolo on Friday.
It has been some journey to the top for the striker, though, with regular injuries and even at one stage a bout of malaria impeding his progress.

Osimhen has the third best minutes-per-goal ratio in Europe this season
He moved to Wolfsburg in Germany as a 17-year-old, before heading to Belgium with Charleroi and then on to France with Lille.
It was there, he played alongside ex-Southampton star Jose Fonte.
The pair struck up a friendship, despite their 15-year age gap, and still stay in touch.
Euro 2016 winner Fonte, 39, told SunSport: “Apart from being a great footballer, he’s a very nice guy who wants to listen and get better every day.
“He likes to laugh, tell jokes and have fun. He’s a hard worker but he’s very sociable.
    ‘NIGHTMARE TO PLAY AGAINST’
“It’s a nightmare to play against him because he doesn’t stop running.
“He’s fast, he’s tall, he’s competitive, he’s aggressive, he doesn’t shy away from tackles and cherishes defenders being physical with him.”
Convincing Napoli to sell will not be easy, with just over two years remaining on his contract.
De Laurentiis stated publicly that the forward, who wears a protective mask after breaking a cheekbone and eye socket in November 2021, is not for sale.
Amokachi, 50, who now works as a special advisor to the Nigerian sports minister, said: “It’s rare Napoli release players. He’s a fans’ favourite. I don’t see them letting him go.

Thiago Silva’s wife incredibly ‘likes’ tweet blasting Chelsea boss Graham Potter as ‘deadbeat, tactless coach’

THIAGO SILVA’S wife has ‘liked’ a tweet blasting Graham Potter as a “deadbeat coach”. The Blues boss is coming under increasing pressure over Chelsea’s underwhelming results which hit their lowest point on Saturday with defeat against managerless Southampton.
After a run of league draws, defeat against Southampton has once again left the spotlight on Chelsea’s managerCredit: PA
Belle, or Isabelle, Silva is rarely shy when it comes to giving her opinion on Thiago’s clubCredit: Instagram @bellesilva
This is the tweet that Belle, Thiago’s wife, has liked on Twitter
Boos reigned down on Stamford Bridge at full-time after James Ward-Prowse’s fantastic first-half free-kick gave bottom of the table Saints an unlikely away win.
While some fans continue to argue Potter needs more time, others have began taking aim at the former Brighton boss.
And Belle Silva has hit the like button on one of the more critical tweets that has been sent regarding the under-fire manager.
One fan asked her on Twitter: “Can you ask [Thiago] Silva to coach our club himself because we have a deadbeat tacticless coach who doesn’t know what he is doing.

“He doesn’t even understand that is Chelsea football club – he thinks he is still at Brighton.”
Belle has not been shy about giving her opinion previously regarding the club – during the both the good times and the bad.
She tweeted out the lyrics to Chelsea’s anthem “Blue is the colour” when it was announced that Silva had signed a contract extension.
Earlier this year she also took aim at Blues fans for booing following defeat against Man City.

It’s been a very difficult 2023 for the club with only a single win to show for 10 games in all competitions.
January also saw an unprecedented amount of money spent and players recruited with the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Enzo Fernandez bought in to reverse the club’s fortunes.
But the squad has yet to gel and a high-quality goalscorer is visibly missing.
With Potter’s job still reportedly safe, Chelsea have a trip to bitter rivals Tottenham up next week before a home game against Leeds and the return leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against Dortmund. More
