The horror stats that show how woeful Chelsea are under Todd Boehly including a low they haven’t sunk to in 49 years

CHELSEA are making unwanted history with horror stats. And the figures are only getting worse for Todd Boehly’s 11-month reign of mega-spending under-achievement.

For fans the worst fact might be the least spectacular one – missing out on European football next season for the first time in six years.
But there are also landmark figures that would have seemed impossible under previous owner Roman Abramovich – no matter what the rights and wrongs of his dynasty.
And for interim boss Frank Lampard in particular the record books couldn’t look much grimmer, following Boehly’s sackings of Thomas Tuchel and then Graham Potter.
Stamford Bridge legend Lampard became the first Chelsea boss to lose his opening four games after another toothless night against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
The Spanish giants returned home with a 2-0 win and 4-0 aggregate triumph to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Lampard was sacked as permanent manager in January 2021 after nine months in charge.
And some pundits reckon he might not last nine weeks in his shock return as caretaker chief.
Tuesday made it the first time the Blues have lost four matches in succession since January 1963, when they were defeated six times on the bounce.

And Chelsea’s current winless run of seven games  is unmatched since the start of 1995.
Lampard’s bulging 30-man squad are now three points adrift of the top half of the Premier League.
The last time they were 11th or lower in the Prem after 31 games was on the final day of the 1995-96 season.
And you have to go back 49 years for the last occasion Chelsea were knocked out of the two main domestic cup competitions without scoring.
Manchester City dumped them out of both in the third round, 4-0 in the FA Cup and 2-0 in the EFL Cup.
And for this stage of the campaign they are close to a string of other worst-ever scenarios.
Only in 19223-24 did they score fewer than 42 goals, and their total of 18 games without netting this term is the Blues’ third lowest in history.
Their 39-point total after 31 matches beats only the 35 they managed at this point in 1993-94.

And the Blues have equalled last season’s record of using 33 players – the most in the past decade.

Chelsea face dressing room split with Boehly set to give flops huge wage cuts – but it WON’T apply to all players

TODD BOEHLY faces huge dressing room unrest over plans to slash his Chelsea’s stars wages — because it does not apply to all the players.Pay will be cut by 30 per cent to make up for missing out on next term’s money-spinning Champions League.

But the penalty clause only applies to new signings and existing players like Reece James who have recently agreed contract extensions.
Defender James, 23, signed a six-year deal in September worth a whopping £200,000 a week.
That will be reduced by £60,000 a week from the start of next season.
Fellow full-back Ben Chilwell, 26, put pen to paper on a new four-year contract only last week and he too will have to give up almost a third of his salary to pay for the team’s failure in Europe.

Even midfielder Enzo Fernandez, 22, who cost a British-record £106million in January, must sacrifice a large chunk of pay from the remainder of his massive eight-and-a-half-year deal.
In contrast, players still on contracts from the old Roman Abramovich era will not be asked to make the sacrifice.
Stars such as Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, Edouard Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech will not lose money.
A Blues source said: “You can imagine how that’s going down.

“Some of those players are going to take big hits in the pocket while the bloke playing alongside him isn’t.
“It’s hardly the best recipe for maintaining a dressing room that is already feeling the strain of results and so many managerial changes.
“Look at some of the faces on those Chelsea players during the game on Tuesday. They looked angry. You can see why.”

Everything ‘idiot’ Boehly has done at ‘Mickey Mouse’ club Chelsea was a mistake including Lampard, slams Jamie O’Hara

CHELSEA owner Todd Boehly’s “Micky Mouse” decisions have all been a “mistake” this season, claims Jamie O’Hara.Former Tottenham ace O’Hara put Boehly on full blast after the Blues crashed out of the Champions League with a 4-0 aggregate loss to Real Madrid.

That means the West Londoners’ interim manager Frank Lampard has lost all four of his matches ever since his surprise return to Stamford Bridge to replace Graham Potter.
O’Hara lashed out at Chelsea’s owner as he called him “a bit of an idiot” and claims everything he did was wrong.
That includes the “shocking” appointment of Lampard as he’s “too low on confidence” and all the players are “totally lost” under his coaching.
O’Hara told Grosvenor Sport: “Everything Todd Boehly has done so far has been a mistake.
    Read More on Chelsea
“The recruitment has been shocking; he brought in Graham Potter and all his backroom staff which turned out to be a nightmare, and now they haven’t won a game yet under Lampard – so you’d have to say that’s probably another mistake appointing him.
“In my opinion, Todd Boehly’s a bit of an idiot, and he’s thrown Frank a bone to ‘come and bring Chelsea back’, but Frank’s too low on confidence – he has lost all eight of his games as a manager in 2023!
“It’s Micky Mouse stuff what has happened at that football club recently; they’ve got a billionaire owner in Boehly, but you could have all the money in the world and not have a clue how to run a football club.
“It’s been a joke – Boehly has actually buried the mentality of that football team, and the DNA of Chelsea is completely lost at the moment. They need to find it again, and quickly.

“I don’t know where his [Lampard’s] career goes from here. I think he’s a bit lost for ideas; he needs to go away and work on his managerial skills and game.
“I look at Chelsea and they just look totally lost under him; the players don’t know what they’re doing.
“There’s no point in doing another managerial change now, unless that manager is guaranteed to be there at the start of next season.
“I don’t know who the manager is that they’re trying to get, but he’d want to bring in his own people and own staff and have a fresh start. They wouldn’t want to come into this – it’s a poisoned chalice right now.” More

But it has emerged that the former newspaper reporter has put the career change on ice while speculation mounts that her boyfriend is now the frontrunner to take over at floundering Chelsea this summer.
Nagelsmann has already held talks with the Stamford Bridge hierarchy within the past week and more are planned as the club whittles away at their shortlist.
Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is also among the candidates along with ex-Spain boss Luis Enrique.
Nagelsmann, 35, was sacked by Bayern Munich in March and replaced by ex-Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea currently have Frank Lampard working as interim manager until the end of the season with the club in disarray.
They were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday by holders Real Madrid.

Lampard is the fourth man to be picking the team this season under new American owners led by chairman Todd Boehly.
He has come under fire for overseeing a massive £600million transfer spend which has done nothing to improve the team’s performances.

Todd Boehly set to slash NINETEEN Chelsea stars’ wages after crashing out of Champions League

CHELSEA are set to slash 19 players’ wages when they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League. The Blues crashed out of the competition last night after being beaten 4-0 on aggregate by Real Madrid.
Todd Boehly had implemented a new contracts strategyCredit: Rex
The defeat ended Chelsea’s faint prospect of qualifying for next season’s Champions League by virtue of winning it this time around.
And with Frank Lampard’s side 11th in the Premier League, 17 points off fourth with seven matches left, they will not qualify for Europe’s premier competition via their league position either.
Co-owner Todd Boehly has guarded against the financial hit of not being in the Champions League by inserting clauses in players’ contracts.
According to the Telegraph, some stars will see their wages slashed by as much as 30 per cent.

Only players that have signed contracts since Boehly’s takeover last year will be affected.
This includes the 12 permanent signings made, as well as seven senior players that have extended their contracts.
First team squad members who have not extended their contracts since Boehly’s arrival will not have their salaries reduced.
Under Roman Abramovich, Chelsea would only tie bonuses to winning trophies, rather than merely qualifying for the Champions League.

High earners remaining on Abramovich-era contracts include Kepa Arrizabalaga and Kai Havertz.
While key man N’Golo Kante is set to be out of contract this summer, and would need to sign an extension on Boehly’s terms.
Thiago Silva, Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta, Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja and Marcus Bettinelli have penned new deals since Boehly’s arrival.
The American, 49, went into the Chelsea dressing room after their 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday – ranting that his stars are “embarrassing”.
Thiago Silva subsequently blasted the Chelsea owners’ strategy after his side’s Champions League exit last night.
The Brazilian scathingly told TNT Sports Brazil: “I think the first step has been made, an incorrect step, but it has been made.
“We can’t be blaming the managers if we don’t take responsibility. It’s a hard period for the club, with a lot of indecision.
“Change of ownership, new players arriving – we had to increase the size of the changing room because it didn’t fit the size of the squad.
“A positive point is that there are amazing players in the squad but on the other hand there are always players that are going to be unhappy.

“There is always going to be someone upset because not everyone can play. The manager can only pick 11 from a squad of 30-something – that’s tough.
“Some can’t make the squad, we signed eight in January, we need to stop and put a strategy in place otherwise next season we could make the same mistakes.”

Desperate Chelsea fans demand Mason Mount is sold to Newcastle as huge transfer price tag is revealed

However, the playmaker’s contract runs out next year and talks of an extension have hit a snag, which means his future appears uncertain while some of Europe’s biggest hitters are circling in.
According to The Mail, the England international will command a staggering asking price of £80million.
The 24-year-old has attracted interest from Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Newcastle and Liverpool amid his ongoing struggles which have seen him tumble down the pecking order.
The Magpies seem the most likely to meet Mount’s fee thanks to their wealthy Saudi owners.

However, the Toon are determined not to shatter their wage structure even if they qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Bruno Guimaraes is among Newcastle’s highest earners with a weekly wage of £120,000, while Mount makes at least £250,000 per week at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool are also unlikely to splash the cash after pulling out of the transfer war over Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham.
Many fans want Mount to stay after becoming a key player in the last four years, insisting other underachievers should depart from Chelsea’s inflated squad instead.

However, many would be happy for owner Todd Boehly to sell up and raise much-needed funds after his unsuccessful £600m spending spree since taking over.

He has featured in 15 games in all competitions and forged a strong partnership with Albion skipper Lewis Dunk.
Colwill will return to Stamford Bridge in the summer and assess the situation under whoever Todd Boehly appoints as the next Blues permanent manager.
Chelsea may well want to keep the 20-year-old who is one of the most highly-rated young defenders in the country.
But with no European football next term boosting their coffers after this term’s £600million splurge, Boehly may be forced to sell some of his homegrown stars.

Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher are two of the most likely to move on – but Colwill will also have plenty of suitors should Chelsea decide to cash in.
The classy centre-back is being monitored by most of the Premier League, including Spurs.
But Chelsea reportedly have no intention to let the star go.

They have also slipped to 11th in the Premier League table, 17 points adrift of the top four.
That is despite spending £600million across the last two transfer windows, bloating their squad to more than 30 players since the arrival of new owner Todd Boehly.
Managers Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter have also been sacked this season, with Frank Lampard placed in interim charge until the end of the campaign.
And Cole, who won three Premier League titles with Chelsea, feels reducing the size of the squad has to be a priority this summer.

When asked on BT Sport whether the absence of European football could be a plus for the Blues next season, he said: “It helped Antonio Conte’s team. Chelsea finished 10th and then won the league after Conte came in.
“I’m not saying I think Chelsea are going to win the league next season – there’s more than enough strong teams above them – but without a doubt it will help the team.
“But it will only help if Chelsea offload at least 10 players. I think at least 10 players need to be trimmed from the squad.”

Despite Chelsea’s dreadful campaign, former England striker Michael Owen does not believe the problems at Stamford Bridge are as serious as some fear.

But he agreed with Cole that a culling of the squad needs to take place.
He said: “I don’t think there’s as many problems as you might think.
“With a little bit of a clear-out, a smaller squad and some stability, it’s almost impossible to think they will finish in the bottom-half again next season.
“They will bounce back and be a top-six team, I’m certain of that. All is not lost – they’ve got some great players, there’s a lot going for this club.
“They just need to sort out some of these problems but it could be a lot worse.”
Chelsea will look to end a run of seven games without a win when they host Brentford on Wednesday.
