Instead, Felix is now set to return to parent club Atletico Madrid ahead of the start of pre-season.
However, Premier League fans may not have seen the last of the 23-year-old forward.
According to Football Insider, Aston Villa have been offered the chance to sign Felix this summer.
The report adds that Villa are one of a number of Premier League sides to have been approached about a potential deal.

Villa are understood to have not ruled out making a move for Felix, despite his reported £244,000-per-week Atletico Madrid wages.
Unai Emery is looking to bolster his attack ahead of the club’s return to Europe next season.
He has already seen his advances knocked back in a bid to land Marco Asensio, who is instead set for Paris-Saint Germain.
That has opened the door to sign Felix, who has also reportedly been offered to Newcastle United.

Any deal with the Magpies is thought to rely on an agreement over his wages, with PSG also touted as a possible destination.
However, Felix would prefer a return to the Premier League following his brief spell last term.
The ex-Benfica star scored four goals in 20 appearances for Chelsea but failed to convince Pochettino to keep him at the club. More

Messi, 35, instead joined MLS side Inter Miami on a contract that will see him earn £43million-a-year which equates to £830,000-a-week.
But Xavi was quick to shut down any chance of a reunion with Neymar.
Xavi was asked about the rumours that the Brazilian had offered himself to Barcelona by podcast Jijantes FC and said: “I’m surprised… he’s not in our plan.
“I really like Ney as a friend, but we have different priorities.”

Neymar and Xavi were Barcelona team-mates with the two playing together from 2013 to 2015 before Xavi left for Qatari club Al Sadd.
Both were key players in a Barca side that won the treble in 2015.
Neymar left Barcelona for PSG in 2017 for a world record fee of £200m.
It is not the first time the forward has offered to return to Barca after enduring a mixed spell during his time in Paris.

Despite winning 13 trophies at PSG he has never established himself as the star man of the team, and has instead been overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe and Messi.
Last year, Neymar told Brazil legend Ronaldo on the Fenomenos Podcast that he “tried everything” to return to Barcelona in the summer of 2019.
Xavi’s comments have shut down any last notion of a return to the Catalan club but the Brazilian has suitors in the form of Manchester United and Chelsea.
French outlet L’Equipe claim negotiations have taken place between Neymar’s team and United with the forward’s preference being to join the Manchester club.
And Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has long been a fan of Neymar, reportedly holding a meeting to sign him back in February. More

He also won four major trophies including the Champions League and Club World Cup.
A potential exit from Stamford Bridge would fall in line with Pochettino’s reported plans to overhaul his midfield.
The position is seen as a priority in the transfer market this summer, with “mini-Kaka” Gabri Veiga the latest player linked with Chelsea.
As for other outgoings, Mason Mount remains in talks with United and N’Golo Kante is edging closer to a move to Saudi Arabia. More

With just one year left on his contract, Chelsea are prepared to sell Pulisic for £20million, according to ESPN.
The report adds that Newcastle United, Manchester United, Napoli, AC Milan and Galatasaray are all interested.
All five clubs have been made aware of Pulisic’s transfer fee and wage demands.
However, it is Newcastle that have been highlighted as the perfect destination for Pulisic by ex-Premier League keeper Shaka Hislop.

Hislop told ESPN: “I think he’d get the management he needs at Newcastle United.
“Listen, if Newcastle come in for Christian Pulisic, if I have anything to do with advising him, I’m telling him take it.
“Let’s remember Christian Pulisic has struggled to establish himself in a team that just finished 12th in the league.
“And given his stop-start and inconsistencies in English football – even dating back to his latter [Borussia] Dortmund days – right now, to get a team finishing in the top-four, top-half of the Premier League, I can’t think of any other.”

He also added: “Eddie Howe likes utilising that pace. I would have him. I think he fits how Eddie Howe likes to play.
“He does not bring the kind of ego and will allow himself to be coached, to learn under Eddie Howe.”
Pulisic has seen his number of appearances decline across the past three seasons, making just 30 last term and scoring once.
New manager Mauricio Pochettino is also understood to be happy for the club to sell the 24-year-old as he looks to build his squad for next season.
Despite Hislop’s advice, Serie A remains the most likely destination for Pulisic, according to the bookies.
He was also reportedly offered to AC Milan along with Hakim Ziyech last month as part of a bid for winger Rafael Leao.

Rudiger told The Players’ Tribune: “Everything with NG [Kante] is authentic. Even the Mini Cooper — people laugh about it, but there is a real story behind it.
“It was a dream for NG to make it to the Premier League, coming from where he came from, and the Mini was the first car that he bought when he got to England. So for him, it is not just a car. It has a deep meaning.
“Of course, the boys always joke with him about it, but I am telling you — this man is so polite that he just tells you what you want to hear.
“Someone will say, ‘NG, you know what car is really cool? A Mercedes, bro. I can see you whippin’ a black Mercedes’.
“And NG will just look at them genuinely and say, ‘Yes, OK. We will think about it. Thank you, that’s a good idea’.
“But he’s just playing with you!!! At the end of the day, you know that you’re going to be seeing that Mini at the training ground for the next 10 years.” More
