But he’s failed to turn the Blues’ fortunes around, overseeing SIX defeats on the trot in all competitions.
Chelsea’s latest loss was inflicted on them by London rivals and title-chasing Arsenal – who beat them 3-1 at the Emirates.
And defeat to the Gunners saw Lampard become the first English manager in charge of a top-flight team to lose ten games in a row in 35 years.
This obviously takes in the final games of his Everton tenure before he was given the chop there.

Arthur Cox was the last owner of the record in 1988 with Derby County.
Blues and footie fans were quick to comment on the stunning stat, with one saying: “At some point, Lampard needs to accept he is not cut out to be a Premier League manager.”
Another said: “Lampard should join the Nevilles in punditry lol coaching isn’t for everyone.”
And another said: “Whenever you see a job that you don’t have the qualifications, ability or experience for, think about Frank Lampard and just apply for it anyways.”

One remarked: “Wait oo, so who advised Lampard to venture into coaching?”
Another chimed in: “Failing upwards due to ‘PL legend’ status.”
One fan posted an image displaying Chelsea’s record in their last five games – which they’ve lost – and wrote: “Frank Lampard’s record looks like a seating plan on Trainline.”
A frustrated Lampard said of his side’s poor performance at the Emirates: “[The] first half performance wasn’t good enough in every way.
“We were nice to play against.
“We didn’t get pressure on the ball, passing short, not passing longer, not making forward runs.”
He added: “I understand my role as an interim, in my short time here and the more I’m here, I’m becoming more practical about it with the players that do show.
“Of course, as the club moves forwards that will have to be the case all of the time.
“I don’t care about the factors, all I care about is seeing a better first half than I saw.”

Chelsea are now toiling in 12TH PLACE in the Premier League table and can still, mathematically, be RELEGATED.
The Blues will be back in action on Saturday, travelling to the south coast to play Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Chelsea player ratings: Aubameyang puts in shocker on return to Emirates as Madueke proves Blues’ only glimmer of hope

CHELSEA fell to their SIXTH straight Premier League loss under caretaker manager Frank Lampard. A double from Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard and a Gabriel Jesus strike saw the Gunners wrap up all three points before half-time.

Chelsea did pull one back but it will another evening to forget for Lampard and his struggling squad.
Here is how Jack Figg rated the Blues from the Emirates.
    Kepa Arrizabalaga – 5
Big save to deny Xhaka one-on-one after five minutes but he was a spectator for Arsenal’s opening three.
Flapped at a second-half corner and needed Silva to save his blushes with a goal-line save.

    Cesar Azpilicueta – 3
Horror evening for the veteran Chelsea skipper, who filled in for the injured Reece James.
The Spaniard was getting drawn out far too often, struggled in the air and offered very little going forward.

    Wesley Fofana – 4
Found himself having to cover for Azpilicueta being caught out at times and had his hands full with Jesus.
Left scrambling with Silva for Arsenal’s third, when neither could clear, allowing for Jesus to fire home.

    Thiago Silva – 4
Showed his experience to cover for Arrizabalaga with a goal-line clearance but little he could do to prevent other goals.
Could only watch as the midfield in front of him failed were bossed around by the Gunners.
    Ben Chilwell – 5
Broke free down left only for Ramsdale to pull off a fine save, but showed he had the beating of Saka.
The left-back did well to keep Saka at bay but looked hesitant to bomb forward like he has been known to.

    N’Golo Kante – 3
Often found himself playing the furthest forward in Chelsea’s midfield but he had little openings.
Caught giving the ball away at times, showing he is not anywhere near back to his best.
    Enzo Fernandez – 4
Spent the entire game on the back foot and not with the ball at his feet.
Came at the cost of playing as the deep-lying midfield but the Blues could profit from the World Cup winner further afield next season.
    Mateo Kovacic – 5
Failed to notice Odegaard over his shoulder for the opener and had little impact on the game.
Usually a player Chelsea can rely on for creativity in advanced positions but did produce a great ball for Madueke’s consolation.

    Noni Madueke – 6
In a night to completely forget for Chelsea, the English winger was a standout through urgency alone.
At least Madueke tried to get on the ball, drive and make things happen – rewarded with his excellently taken goal.
    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 2
Completely absent throughout his dismal 45-minute cameo. No urgency, no fight and no passion with four of his nine touches coming from kick off.
Somehow, he managed to top his woeful showing against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in November, which saw him exiled from the squad.
    Raheem Sterling – 4
Showed glimpses of promise early on down the left but his team-mates were not in sync, with missed passes to Aubameyang and Chilwell evidence.
Too late to react for Odegaard’s second despite twice looking over his shoulder in a failed attempt to track the Arsenal skipper.
Noni Madueke pulled one back for ChelseaCredit: AFP
    SUBS
Kai Havertz (for Aubameyang on 45 minutes) – 5
Looked to impose himself after coming on – something Aubameyang could not be bothered to do – but lacked chances to captalise.
Mykhailo Mudryk (for Fernandez on 70 minutes) – 6
Right away the Ukrainian – who so nearly signed for Arsenal – got stuck in with driving runs but never got close to scoring.
Conor Gallagher (for Sterling on 70 minutes) – 5
Came on at a time that the game was already gone and looked about as threatening as Chelsea’s other underperformers.

Hakim Ziyech (for Madueke on 79 minutes) – 4
Subbed on for Chelsea’s best player in the game but failed to produce anything down the right.

Chelsea stars Thiago Silva and Chilwell have blazing row after Arsenal goal as Blues capitulate in horror first-half

THIAGO SILVA and Ben Chilwell were spotted rowing with each other as Chelsea capitulated in the first half against Arsenal. The Blues were already 1-0 down thanks to a super strike from Gunners captain Martin Odegaard on 18 minutes.
Chelsea players argue amongst themselvesCredit: Richard Pelham / The Sun
But the Norwiegen doubled his tally and Chelsea’s misery on the half hour mark as he struck past Kepa Arrizabalaga again.
A ball came into penalty box and Odegaard latched onto it and fired home to make it 2-0.
As Arsenal’s title-chasing side wheeled off in celebration, it was civil war between Chelsea’s struggling squad.
Defenders Silva and Chilwell were seen exchanging words in a heated argument in which Enzo Fernandez found himself also involved in.

And it about summed up the state of the club on the field.
One fan said: “Silva and Chilwell having a fall out after the goal, just sums up the mood right now…
“We won’t win another game all season.”
Another added: “Enzo, Thiago Silva and Chilwell arguing after that goal. Whole club’s a mess.”
    Most read in Football
One agreed: “There is no communication. Chilwell and Silva were having a fight.”

It only went from bad to worse before the break as Gabriel Jesus capitalised on some calamitous defending to make it 3-0.
A ball came into the box, which Cesar Azpilicueta failed to defend, leaving Jesus to pick up the loose ends and hammer home.
Noni Madueke did pull one back in the second half but it proved too little too late as Chelsea sunk to their SIXTH straight loss.

Kai Havertz reveals Chelsea squad left baffled after Thomas Tuchel was ‘sacked out of nowhere’ leading to dismal season

KAI HAVERTZ has revealed he was left baffled by Thomas Tuchel’s sacking “out of nowhere”. Just 16 months after leading Chelsea to the Champions League, the German boss was dismissed as the ownership looked to stamp their authority.

But the Blues’ awkward start to the season under Tuchel was about as good as things would get in the entire campaign.
Graham Potter’s failed to get things going as Chelsea languished in mid-table before he was dismissed after only eight months.
Before Frank Lampard took over as caretaker and lost his first five games.
Chelsea striker Havertz has given his assessment of the disastrous campaign and revealed that the early sacking did not help the squad.

He told Kicker: “Everything that can go wrong went wrong for us this year.
“The season actually started relatively quietly. We had a change of ownership which was a big change for the club.
“And then Thomas Tuchel was fired, which of course always makes a difference in a team like this when you’ve been successful with a coach and he gets fired out of nowhere.
“Now we have our backs to the wall and are not [doing] very well in the table.

“Of course it’s easy to find excuses. I’m not a fan of blaming everything on something else. At the end of the day, we’re all professional footballers and we have to win a game sometimes.”
Chelsea travel to Arsenal tonight looking to put a further spanner into their London rival’s title dreams.

And Havertz hopes to frustrate the Gunners.
He added: “We hope to tease Arsenal a little bit. They’re in the title fight now, which is where we want to be. And if you can beat your opponent, that’s always good for the fans.”
With nothing to play for, Chelsea have a further five dead rubbers before their miserable season ends.
The Blues currently sit 12th in the table and risk falling further.
Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is widely expected to take over at Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks. More

A plethora of players could be forced out with more big money signings expected along with the predicted arrival of new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Plenty of stars that have come through the ranks at the club could be sold – to the anger of academy coaches.

Chalobah has come back into the fold under Frank Lampard but after the January signing of Benoit Badiashile, he may go for more assurances over first-team action.
