Many Spurs fans had been praying the 51-year-old would return and fill their managerial vacancy after the sacking of Antonio Conte.
And Villa, best known for his two goals in the FA Cup Final replay of 1981, has not yet given up hope of his compatriot returning to North London.
He told talkSPORT: “It’s a difficult moment for the club. [But] the club is very strong and there will be a recovery very soon.

Arsenal learn Moises Caicedo price as fans complain transfer will cost ā€˜almost as much as Bellinghamā€™

ARSENAL have learned how much they will need to pay in order to land Moises Caicedo after Brighton reportedly named their asking price. Caicedo, who starred in Brighton’s 1-0 win over Manchester United, was the subject of a Ā£70million bid from the Gunners in the January transfer window.

Caicedo put in a strong performance to help Brighton beat Manchester United
However, the Seagulls rejected this offer and Caicedo has remained a key part of Roberto de Zerbi’s set-up on the south coast after signing a new long-term contract running to 2027.
But now Brighton have named their asking price for any potential suitors for the midfielder.
According to Sky Sports, they will expect offers “well in excess” of the Ā£70m offer submitted by Arsenal in January.
The report adds that Brighton will not stand in the 21-year-old’s way if a suitable bid is arrives this summer.

Arsenal have retained their interest in Caicedo, with the Ecuador international reportedly one of the top names on Mikel Arteta’s six-man summer shopping list.
Caicedo’s strong form this season has also piqued the interest of clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
Reacting to the news online, one Twitter user said: “Bellingham won’t go for much more than that.
“Good player but I’d be disappointed if we paid that for him after saying Jude was too expensive.”

CHELSEA are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha ahead of the summer transfer window, reports suggest.Zaha’s contract runs out in June and although Palace have offered him the most lucrative contract in the club’s history, which will see him earn Ā£200,000 per week, he is still likely to become a free agent.

According to The Mail, the Blues are among the clubs eyeing the winger, who has also attracted interest from AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli, Marseille and Saudi Arabia.
However, sources close to the West Londoners insist the Stamford Bridge outfit is emerging as a serious contender for the Ivory Coast international’s signature.
Mauricio Pochettino, who poses as the likeliest candidate to become Chelsea’s new manager, is a big admirer of the 30-year-old.
In fact, Pochettino tried to sign Zaha during his five-year stint at Tottenham before he left in 2019.

However, Chelsea fans don’t seem very excited of that prospect because the squad is already filled with forwards.
Todd Boehly has splashed over Ā£500,000million ever since taking over the club’s fortunes last summer and has filled the team with attacking options.
The likes of Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix, Mason Mount, Noni Madueke, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz are all vying for minutes.
One fan tweeted: “Ah yes, just what they need. More wingers.”

    And that one stated: “Downgrade.”

Chelsea have been underwhelming this season, as the club currently sits 12th in the Premier League.
Boehly has already been through two managers during his year-long reign, having sacked both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.
However, there has been little improvement under interim manager Frank Lampard as the Stamford Bridge side has continued to slide down the table.
This has all happened despite a massive investment into the playing squad, which has seen high transfer fees and long contracts handed to players that are yet to do the business on the pitch.

There has also been chaos off the pitch as players were alleged to be arguing with each other on the bench during this week’s defeat to Arsenal.
Boehly has argued that they “want to win” and that the process is part of a “long-term project”.
He said on Sky Sports: “The fans are demanding.

    ‘A MESS FROM DAY ONE’
Former Manchester United star and pundit Gary Neville has claimed that Chelsea’s issues on the pitch have come “from the top” as he slammed the way the club has been run recently.
He said onĀ Sky Sports: “It all comes from the top. Itā€™s been a mess from day one. Todd Boehly is a nightmare, heā€™s completely mis-read this league.
“Whatā€™s happened this season is purely down to him.
“Heā€™s the non-footballing department, so he needs to stay where he is and let the footballing people run their department.
“Theyā€™re a laughing stock, the whole thing has been a shambles.”
However, Neville did claim that if Boehly gets the next managerial appointment right then they could return to be challengers.
He added: “I do think if they can get Mauricio Pochettino they can be moulded into a top four team and challenge for trophies next season.

Chelsea’s trigger-happy approach to transfers in their senior squad has caused chaos behind the scenes, with Graham Potter being forced to make a number of stars change in the corridor despite making the dressing room bigger.
Frank Lampard has since taken over the helm, but things have only gotten worse with six defeats on the spin under the interim boss following the latest lacklustre performance against Arsenal.
Reacting to the news, one fan online joked: “Have to make the dressing room bigger again.”
A second said: “Chelsea completing more transfers than wins this season.”
