Chelsea suffer huge blow for next season with Benoit Badiashile facing weeks of new campaign out injured

CHELSEA have taken a huge blow to their back line with Benoit Badiashile expected to be out of action until early NEXT season. The 22-year-old missed out on Chelsea’s trip to Manchester City on Sunday after picking up a groin injury in training.
Benoit Badiashile signed for Chelsea in January to shore up their back line
The French defender may even need surgery that could rule him out for up to four months.
It now looks as if the problem is worse than initially thought and the centre half is seeing experts in the next 24 hours to determine the full diagnosis.
If Badiashile does need to go under the knife it will mean he misses Chelsea’s summer tour to the US and the chance to get to know incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The former Spurs manager is due to take over next month after Lampard leaves his role after Sunday’s home game against Newcastle.

He will have the pre-season to get his new side into shape after a disappointing campaign this year.
The blow to Badiashile is particularly disappointing as he only signed in January from Monaco and has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise terrible season for Chelsea.
He has made 11 appearances for the club since the move and is considered by a lot of fans as a player for the future as they rebuild under new owner Todd Boehly.
Badiashile won’t be lonely in the medical room at Chelsea’s training ground as he joins Mason Mount, Reece James, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell on the club’s ever-growing injury list.

Chelsea have options at centre back for next season with Badiashile’s injury possibly opening the door for Levi Colwill to come into the side.
Colwill has impressed on loan at Brighton and has reportedly already attracted interest from elsewhere after standing out in the Seagulls’ impressive season. More

Gavi joined Barcelona’s world renowned La Masia academy at the age of 11 in 2015.

The pair are currently at the European U17 Championships in Hungary and have both been on the scoresheet already.
Nwaneri grabbed the only goal of the game against Croatia in their Group D opener before Lewis-Skelly opened the scoring in the 4-1 win over the Netherlands.

Mount has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his contract.
Negotiations between the Blues and the player have stalled during this season.
And that has opened the door to a potential departure, with owner Todd Boehly keen to offload any members of the squad with less than one year left.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea are set to make one final push to agree terms with Mount – who has been with the club since 2005.

But Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd are all circling as they look to prise him away from West London.

Chelsea ‘make £70m Dusan Vlahovic transfer offer’ but fans worry of ‘Higuain vibes’ as they say ‘just keep Lukaku’

CHELSEA are reportedly interested in signing Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. The Blues are set to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table for the first time since 1996, despite spending almost £600million on 16 new players over the past year.
Chelsea are considering a swoop for VlahovicCredit: Getty
Todd Boehly has welcomed five defenders, four midfielders and six attackers to Stamford Bridge since he took over as Chairman last May, but he is yet to add a first team-ready out-and-out striker to his ranks.
Romelu Lukaku – who was signed for £97.5million August 2021 – is currently on loan at Inter Milan, but he could leave the club on a permanent basis before the 2023-24 campaign kicks off.
So Chelsea officials are now on the hunt for a new No.9.
According to football journalist Julien Laurens, the Blues are keen on the prospect of signing Vlahovic from Juventus.

And ESPN claim that they have already made a £70million offer for the striker.
Vlahovic joined Juventus in a £62m transfer from Fiorentina in January last year, but he struggled to find his form.
And Chelsea fans have admitted that they would rather keep Lukaku at Stamford Bridge than sign the Serbia international.
One person tweeted: “Is Vlahovic even really much of an upgrade on Lukaku?”

Another added: “Vlahovic has flop written all over it, not even scored that many this season either. I’d rather give Lukaku another go until we can go for Toney when his ban is up.”
While a third wrote: “This guy gives me washed up Higuain vibes, offer 80m for Harry Kane and move on.”
Chelsea are also understood to be interested in signing Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.
Mauricio Pochettino, who is set to become the club’s new manager this summer, is a known admirer of the Argentina international.
Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is another name on the transfer wishlist, although Chelsea face competition from Manchester United for his signature.
The Blues could let go of several first team players this summer in order to make way for more signings.
Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have all been linked with a move away, as well as Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. More

But Klopp has made it clear that the Reds will look to strengthen in all areas of the pitch, not just the midfield.
In a press conference on Friday, the 55-year-old said: “We look in all departments apart from goalkeeper at the moment.

Chelsea eye summer transfer for Brentford star David Raya but only if they can’t land No1 keeper choice

CHELSEA are reportedly ready to swoop for Brentford’s David Raya if they fail to land their No.1 goalkeeper transfer target.Chelsea have veered between Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy for the last few seasons.

However, both have failed to convince and now face uncertain futures while the club searches for a permanent new manager.
The West London club also need to cut costs after their heavy outlay on new additions and appear to be keen on offloading their stoppers to help balance the books.
Mendy, 31, snubbed a new six-year contract over the salary offered – which did not rival Kepa’s.
The Senegal international’s future at Stamford Bridge remains up in the air and we reported how the stopper, who has 12 months left on his deal, has been told he can go.

Meanwhile, Spaniard Kepa has also failed to convince chiefs he is the man for the long-term and they now want a new goalie to lead their resurgence after a miserable campaign under incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Now journalist Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Raya “looks pretty certain to move” and that the Blues are keen.
The Spanish stopper, 27, is also entering the final year of his contract at Brentford and the Bees could offload him now rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2024.
Boss Thomas Frank recently admitted that Raya could depart and that his value has decreased to £40m due to his contract status.

Now Jones has said: “Raya looks pretty certain to move and now that Brentford are making new goalkeeper plans it’s just a case of finding his new home.
“Chelsea’s move for a goalkeeper is something that Mauricio Pochettino wants but they will have to resolve the situation first in-house as they have two big names in Kepa and Mendy.
“Mendy seems the one most likely to, he’s more attainable financially, and easier to gauge interest in sources have told me, but that still could take some time.
“From conversations I’ve had with contacts it feels like their interest in Raya is legit, but I also think they prefer Andre Onana, just as Tottenham do.
“It’s very early days but it’s not beyond imagination that Raya simply ends up signing for whichever team Onana doesn’t choose to join.” More
