From Romelu Lukaku and Tammy Abraham, to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alvaro Morata – the No.9 jersey is somewhat doomed.
Lukaku, who signed for £97.5m in 2021, was loaned back to Inter Milan last season and has not been reintegrated into the first team.
New forwards Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson have opted against taking the number deemed jinxed by many in and around Stamford Bridge.
But Pochettino has now promised to banish the voodoo attached to the shirt.

When asked about lifting the curse, the Argentine said: “For sure, if we bring in one more, now I’m going to be sure that he uses the nine and try to change the feeling and the idea that this number is not cursed.
“We need to do some things to change the energy. I will ask the kit man to bring all the nine shirts and we will do something to break it.”
But are there actually many viable options for Pochettino’s men?
SunSport has taken a look at seven names that could break the pattern.

Pochettino and Kane enjoyed success together at Spurs, but he’s now embarked on a new journey in the dugout at Chelsea this season.
The 51-year-old has a big job on his hands, tasked with turning around a team who finished 12th in the Premier League last term.
But when speaking in a recent interview with The Athletic, Pochettino took the opportunity to poke fun at the England captain.
In a hilarious move, the Blues boss pulled out his phone and told Shearer that he wanted to record a quick video message for Kane.

The Argentine looked into the camera saying: “Harry, we have signed Alan and he is going to score more goals, sorry”.
By the end of the interview, Kane had clearly seen the funny side, as he responded: “He’d still score more goals for you”.
Of course, Pochettino was referencing that Shearer’s goalscoring record is now safe with Kane moving to Bayern Munich.
The Newcastle and England legend, 52, is the all-time Premier League top scorer with 260 goals in 441 appearances.

Kane was hot on his heels and closing in fast after reaching 213 in 320 appearances with Spurs.
But following his £100m move to Bayern, many believe that he may never get the chance to close that 47-goal gap and surpass Shearer’s tally.
Kane enjoyed a scoring start on his Bundesliga debut last week for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Before leaving Spurs this summer, Kane ominously hinted that he still had plenty of time left to snatch the record from the Match of the Day pundit.
It was reported that Chelsea could reunite Pochettino with Kane, but Daniel Levy was not interested in selling his frontman to a Premier League rival. More

Despite being a free agent, he has struggled to find a new club – with potential suitors put off by his high wages and struggles with fitness.
The winger has reportedly even considered retiring if a suitable club does not come forward by the end of the window.
Fans online have suggested that Hazard’s struggles to find a club are because no club is interested, but his barber has moved to quash that rumour.
A fan commented on Hazard’s Instagram, saying “No one wants to sign you.”

To which his barber snapped back in an explicit response.
A Star Barbers, who has cut Hazard’s hair for a number of years, replied to the comment, writing: “That’s funny because he’s rejected six teams. T**t.”
Hazard’s time in the Spanish capital was a huge disappointment with injuries limiting him to 76 appearances, in which he scored just seven goals and provided 12 assists.
Last season he scored once in 10 matches and failed to play a full 90 minutes.

With injuries and illness causing him to miss 78 matches for Real Madrid, Hazard has failed to complete a full 90 minutes of football since November 2021.
The majority of Hazard’s interest has come from outside of Europe – with MLS sides Vancouver Whitecaps and David Beckham’s Inter Miami reportedly putting deals on the table for the forward.
If the barber’s word is gospel, that would suggest that Hazard has rejected playing alongside Lionel Messi in Miami. More
