Leeds star Ampadu ‘settled’ after finally ending his six-year spell at Chelsea

ETHAN AMPADU has no regrets over his six-year spell at Chelsea. The Wales midfielder, 22, finally left Stamford Bridge this summer despite just 12 first-team appearances since his initial £850,000 move from Exeter in 2017.

Ampadu has started every game for Daniel Farke’s Leeds this season
Ampadu never got a look-in at the Blues and instead was farmed out on loan for four of those years to RB Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia.
He knew that was not going to change under new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.
And it was little surprise that although he was Chelsea’s longest-serving player for a couple of weeks, he joined Leeds in a £7m move in July.
Ampadu said: “I don’t think I can ever look back and wish I did something else.

“I’m in this position because of what I have done. I have been grateful for every loan move I had and all the opportunities I got at Chelsea.
“It’s made me the player and person I am today. If you want to stay then you voice that opinion but I felt it was the right time to leave.
“I’ve enjoyed the step I’ve taken and I’m excited to see what comes from it.
“I have still got a lot of things to do. I’ve put a lot into my career in a short space of time but I still feel that I can do and achieve a lot more. That starts here.”

Ampadu is enjoying his football after playing every minute of the first seven games under new Leeds boss Daniel Farke this season.
The versatile Welshman has starred at centre-back or midfield during his 44 international caps.
And he says he is glad to have found a home in the Championship after spells in the Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A.
Leeds have had a tradition of top-class holding midfielders in Billy Bremmer, David Batty and Kalvin Phillips and Ampadu wants to cement his spot in folklore during his four-year stay in Yorkshire.
Ampadu, preparing for tomorrow’s friendly against South Korea and the must-win Euro 2024 qualifier in Latvia next Monday, added: “I’m enjoying being settled.
“I gave my all in each of the loans and I was focused on developing and becoming a better player.
“But maybe in the back of your mind when you know you are settled somewhere and you’re not on loan, there are little things you can improve on.
“If you are playing in one position, you can work on the finer little details within that position to take you to the next level.
“If you’d asked me this last year, I probably would have said centre-back because that’s where I was playing.
“But that was before I joined Leeds and hearing what Farke wants me to play like, his style of play, that’s what attracted me and the reason I went there so I’m enjoying the role I’m playing.
“And with the history of the club, we know on the outside where everyone wants us to be.

FANS fear Chelsea are “finished” after seeing brutal EA Sports FC 24 ratings – despite a £1BILLION spree over the past three transfer windows.Only seven Blues’ players scored 80 or more in the leaked ratings ahead of the video game’s release on September 29.

And Stamford Bridge supporters “don’t know whether to laugh or cry” after mediocre marks reflected a turbulent year.
Summer recruit Christopher Nkunku tops the ratings with 86 – but ironically has yet to make his debut following a pre-season injury.
And it was the mark given to £107m Enzo Fernandez that seemed to sum up Chelsea’s plight for many fans.
One observer said of the score for the Argentinian World Cup winner: “83 for Enzo? What a joke.”

Fans were particularly dumbfounded by his modest rating for what’s regarded as one of his major assets.

Chelsea star singled out as one of ‘three little b*****s’ in furious attack by former fans

LYON ultras have blasted Chelsea defender Malo Gusto as one of “three little b*****s” who left the club.Fans humiliated their flops in a public confrontation following Sunday’s 4-1 home mauling by PSG.

But supporters were especially scathing of a trio of French starlets who landed big moves away this year.
Gusto arrived at Stamford Bridge in January for £31million and was loaned back to Lyon for the rest of last season.
But the right-back has started Chelsea’s last three Premier League games as skipper Reece James recovers from injury
However, Lyon were more shocked by a double departure in the transfer window last month.

Central defender Castello Lukeba, 20, joined RB Leipzig and PSG pounced for £43m winger Bradley Barcola, 21.
Lyon fans were particularly furious at Laurent Blanc’s men trailing 4-0 at half-time in Ligue 1 over the weekend.
And after defeat, the club’s ‘Bad Gones’ supporters’ group – aka the ‘capo’ – unveiled a banner demanding “leaders” within the team speak out.
The message read: “If there are leaders in the locker room, they no longer have the right to remain silent.”

The Lyon squad then walked to the main stand to receive a dressing-down.
One fan representing the ultras told players they “don’t have the right to tarnish” the team shirt that former stars had “glorified”.
He added: “Now that the transfer window is over, the squad is here. All we ask is to be by your side.
“But to do that, you’re going to have to earn it. We love and respect this shirt.
“There’s only one other thing we ask: to sing your names. Sing them with love, not like we sang the names of the little b*****s. who have left our club in the last six months.
“We want to sing your names with respect, with love. Because we know you play with love.”
In a later statement the capo added: “Lukeba and Barcola, where is your dignity and your respect when a few weeks after proclaiming the love of your club and the supposed journey that you still have to make under this jersey, you succumb as if by magic to the ringing and stumbling sirens of another club?
“Are you playing the Lyonnais at heart card? You are just paper Lyonnais that our memory will forget as quickly as possible without forgiving your lack of respect.

They have compared the amount the buying club paid to their market value at the time of the move.
Chelsea signed Brighton star Moises Caicedo for a staggering £115million as they smashed the British transfer record.
The Blues beat Liverpool to bring in the midfielder and handed him an eight-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
However, the study claims that Chelsea overpaid by a huge £50m.

They believe he is worth just £64m.
Saudi Arabian clubs also splashed the cash this summer, especially Al-Hilal, who overpaid by £26m each in the deals for Malcolm and Neymar.
The top ten additionally shows Manchester United overspent in their moves for Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana.
Erik ten Hag signed the Danish striker for a whopping £72m from Italian side Atalanta despite his inexperience, with him having only scored 27 goals in his club career.

Arsenal bolstered their squad by spending over £210m to sign Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.
The Gunners’ £105m deal for the ex-West Ham captain was £23m too high compared to his market value and Chelsea pocketed £17m more than they should have for Havertz.
RB Leipzig were the big winners of the summer window despite losing key players Dominik Szoboszlai and Josko Gvardiol to Liverpool and Man City respectively.
The German side received a combined £30m more than expected for the duo.

How sold and forgotten Chelsea stars could fill ENTIRE Champions League squad this season – and have pick of managers

But part of his aggressive transfer strategy has seen Chelsea shed a number of players from the old regime.
This summer alone, 21 players have left Chelsea either permanently or on loan, including a number of former regular starters in the form of Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic.
That means the sight of a former Chelsea player popping up for a team in Europe has become commonplace.
A remarkable 28 ex-Chelsea players are plying their trade for teams in the Champions League this season with a further three ex-Chelsea managers calling the shots at clubs in Europe’s elite competition.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
Not all of these players left under the Boehly regime, but the number of players still playing at Europe’s highest level is testament to the club’s high turnover.
Chelsea don’t have to look too far from home to be reminded of former Blues now playing in the Champions League, with a number of their players playing for fellow Premier League teams.
Manchester City have Kevin De Bruyne, Nathan Ake and the aforementioned Kovacic all plying their trade for them.
Arsenal’s squad contains Jorginho, who joined the club last January, Havertz and former Cobham academy player Declan Rice.

Newcastle took Lewis Hall on loan from Chelsea last week, and also snapped up Tino Livramento from Southampton in a £30m deal – who is another product of the Chelsea academy.
The Magpies have been drawn in the same Champions League group as AC Milan who have FOUR ex-Chelsea players: Olivier Giroud, Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic.
Manchester United added Mount to their ranks this summer in a £65m deal, the only player to up their Chelsea quota.
If all of Chelsea’s ex-players were to link up in a hypothetical squad, they would be spoilt for choice for ex-Chelsea managers to take charge of them.
Maurizio Sarri currently manages Lazio, Thomas Tuchel is in charge at Bayern and Carlo Ancelotti is still head honcho at Real Madrid, where he manages Thibaut Courtois and Antonio Rudiger.

    Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
    Nathan Ake  (Manchester City)
    Kai Havertz (Arsenal)
    Jorginho (Arsenal)

Nottingham Forest could be charged by the FA after two away fans were arrested over ‘Chelsea Rent Boy’ chants

The unsavoury chants saw two Forest supporters arrested at Stamford Bridge Saturday afternoon.
They were ejected from the Chelsea ground before being taken away by officers from Nottinghamshire Police, according to MailOnline.
The FA introduced new regulations earlier this year enabling them to charge clubs whose fans use the offensive term “rent boy”.
It comes as the CPS decided to classify use of the phrase – which is a breach of FA rule E21 – as a hate crime.

The Crown Prosecution Service have previously said those who use the words are liable to face prosecution.
Chelsea fans are also understood to have complained to security staff about other incidents.
FA charges do not automatically follow in such cases, which can be left to the clubs involved and police to resolve.
However, the previous use of the term by Forest fans at a match against Chelsea on New Year’s Day may count against them.

Wolves became the first club to be punished by the FA for homophobic chanting in July when they were given a £100,000 fine.
The Prem outfit were hit by the fine after their “inadequate response” to rent boy chants during their Premier League game against Cheslea in April.
The FA will wait until they have received reports from cops before deciding whether to take formal disciplinary action against Forest.
Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has overseen a £1billion splurge on new players since taking over the club last May.
But the Blues were downed by Elanga who scored his first goal for Forest since making a £15million move from Manchester United in July.
Chants were aimed at Chelsea players at multiple grounds last season – both in the Premier League and FA Cup. More

Chelsea player ratings: Caicedo sloppy and new signing misses sitter but storming display from Chilwell in Forest loss

CHELSEA slumped to a shock home loss to Nottingham Forest. Ex-Manchester United star Anthony Elanga’s second-half winner was enough to separate the sides.

And despite knocking on the door, Chelsea failed to get back on level terms.
Here is how Jordan Davies rated the Blues’ players from Stamford Bridge.
    ROBERT SANCHEZ – 6
Nothing to do in the first half. Yet to be seen whether he is good enough on the ball out from the back after a few nervy moments holding onto possession for far too long. Not a lot he could do for the goal.
    AXEL DISASI – 6
Pochettino spent most of the first period screaming at him for his poor distribution to his nearest full-back. Nevertheless, he looked solid whenever called into action.

    THIAGO SILVA – 7
Allowed the through ball to slide between his legs as Elanga grabbed the opener, but can hardly be blamed. Attempted to push Chelsea higher up throughout and nullified several Forest attacks.
    LEVI COLWILL – 6
Could not get back into his position in time to stop Forest taking the lead. Looks to still be adapting to playing on the left of Chelsea’s back three.
Malo Gusto is improving massively with every outingCredit: Reuters
    MALO GUSTO – 7
Improves massively with every outing. Showed great pace and strength to deal with Forest on the counter and linked up well with Sterling down the right. Failed to reproduce that when Sterling switched flanks after the break.
    MOISES CAICEDO – 5
Produced glimpses of the dirty work that will have pleased boss Pochettino, but on the ball the Ecuadorian was sloppy, and was at fault for Forest’s opener after the break. For the talent he is, let’s say this was a bad day at the office.
    Most read in Football
    CONOR GALLAGHER – 6
Grew into the match, but remains a frustrating player to watch at times. Erratic on the ball and rash off it, picking up a needless first half yellow, before losing it early in the second half as Forest pounced and scored.
    ENZO FERNANDEZ – 6
A few good spins in the middle of the pitch set up some attacks, but he struggled to have a real impact in the first half. A curling effort from outside the box cleared the bar, but that was about as good as it got.
Ben Chilwell was unlucky to be taken off on the hour markCredit: Reuters
    BEN CHILWELL – 8
A constant source of irritation for Forest with his storming runs down the left, as well as several crosses that should have been turned goalwards. Unlucky to be taken off on the hour mark.
    RAHEEM STERLING – 7
Great chance to opening scoring inside two minutes, but continues to be Chelsea’s best player by a mile. No wonder he is fuming over his England squad snub. Was suffocated out of any real space or chances in the second half.
    NICOLAS JACKSON – 5
Snatched at a few half chances at the start of the game and never looked entirely composed, summed up when he missed a sitter inside the six-yard box in the dying moments. Unlike in previous weeks, his hold-up play was lacking too.
Nicolas Jackson missed a sitter for ChelseaCredit: Reuters
    SUBS
    COLE PALMER (61, CHILWELL) – 6
Lively enough, but was crowded out by a stubborn Forest low block. Had a couple of opportunities to shoot but opted to pass instead.
    NONI MADUEKE (61, GALLAGHER) – 6
Brought energy down the right, and threatened greatly cutting in onto his left foot yet failed to unleash it when it mattered.
    MYKHAILO MUDRYK (77, GUSTO) – 5
Barely got a sniff. Tasked with lumping balls into the box, and almost cost his side another goal with a lazy pass. Looks lost in a Chelsea shirt right now. Needs a run of games to properly get into the groove.

Premier League clubs shatter world transfer spending record for single window with outrageous summer spending spree

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs have smashed the world transfer spending record with their astronomical outlay this summer. The 20 top flight teams have spent an eye-watering £2.34BILLION across this summer’s transfer window according to financial firm Deloitte.

And the crazy outlay has surpassed last summer’s record spending by a whopping £440m.
Arsenal and Chelsea both signed £100m+ players in Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo.
With Caicedo breaking a record himself by becoming the most expensive Premier League signing ever at £115m, surpassing the £107m set by his teammate Enzo Fernandez last season.
And it’s no surprise that it’s Chelsea who have been breaking records with The Blues splashing an unfathomable £390m – more than anyone else in the league.

In fact the West London outfit have spent over £1billion on transfers themselves since Todd Boehly took over last summer.
But they were able to offset their incomings with some significant exits – Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic are just a few of the players who left Stamford Bridge during the window.
Elsewhere Tottenham were the league’s second highest spenders after they managed to cash in on over £100m from Bayern Munich for the transfer of Harry Kane.
They re-invested that money and then some, spending over £200million on the likes of Brennan Johnson and James Maddison.

Luton Town were the top flight’s most frugal side spending a comparatively measly £20million all summer.
But they still managed to bring in 12 new faces to Kenilworth Road for their debut Premier League campaign.
There was big money signings all over the league with Manchester United dropping £72million on Rasmus Hojlund and their neighbours Man City forking out almost £80m for Josko Gvardiol.
And it hasn’t gone unnoticed by football fans with many taking issue with the crazy numbers being bounded about.
One fan on social media said: “They are ruining football.”
Whilst another added: “Football is becoming a money game, it’s inevitable. Sad but impressive at the same time. Can’t deny it’s the biggest league in the world though.”
There was £255m spent on deadline day alone with big name signings like Ryan Garvenberch to Liverpool and Alex Iwobi to Fulham getting over the line.
