Wonderkid Liverpool transfer target, 18, reveals ‘Chelsea is my dream club… I’ve supported them since I was 8 years old’

WONDERKID and Liverpool transfer target Patrick Dorgu has revealed it is his dream to play for CHELSEA.The 18-year-old Lecce full-back only made his Serie A debut this season but Liverpool are long term admirers of the defender and are tracking his progress closely.

But in an interview with Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet, Dorgu said: “Chelsea is my dream to play for. I have been a fan of them for over 10 years, so it would be a huge dream to play for them.”
The interview may pique the interest of Chelsea’s hierarchy, who have targeted players under 25 as part of an aggressive transfer policy that has seen them spend over £1billion on players.
The club have also struggled at left-back this season, with Mauricio Pochettino opting to play centre-back Levi Colwill there in an attempt to provide defensive solidity.
The position looked to be nailed-on for vice-captain Ben Chilwell but he started the season playing in an advanced left wing position.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
Chilwell has since been dropped from the team as Pochettino continues to tinker in an attempt to turn the club’s fortunes around.
The Blues also have Marc Cucurella and Ian Matsen on their books who can both play the position so are hardly under stocked in that area.
A more pressing issue for the Blues is signing a forward that can be relied upon to score consistently.
Nicolas Jackson has struggled to settle at The Bridge and has so far scored just one goal in his six Premier League appearances.

Frustration has clearly boiled over for the forward and his five yellow cards in six games means he will be suspended for Chelsea’s short trip to Fulham on Monday night.
Liverpool could be a more viable option for Dorgu as The Reds look to succession plan for Andy Robertson, 29.
Kostas Tsimikas was an option as a successor, but has so far looked to only be a back-up for Jurgen Klopp’s side rather than a potential permanent first-team fixture. More

Mudryk’s confidence hits rock bottom as £88m ace refuses to take on Pochettino at crossbar challenge over fear of losing

MYKHAILO MUDRYK felt so low he wanted to bottle out of a crossbar challenge with Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino — because he always LOSES.The Blues splashed out £88million to sign the Ukrainian winger from Shakhtar Donetsk in January — part of US owner Todd Boehly’s whopping £1BILLION transfer splurge since taking charge at Stamford Bridge.

Mauricio Pochettino has been trying to boost Mudryk’s confidenceCredit: Getty
But struggling Mudryk, 22, is without a goal in his 22 appearances and has been subbed off nine times in ten starts.
Pochettino even told him he “needs to understand the game better” after Chelsea’s goalless draw at Bournemouth ten days ago.
And Mudryk has also been unable to beat his 51-year-old manager in trying to chip the ball on to the crossbar as part of an attempted confidence-building training-ground challenge.
It has further dented Mudryk’s fragile belief in himself.

Poch revealed: “You know how it works in the brain. It is about, little by little, creating situations that can provide trust, confidence and belief.
“One example… today, with Mudryk, I like to play hitting the crossbar from outside the box.
“But he said to me, ‘No, I’m not going to play anymore with you because always you win’.
“I said, ‘Yes, because I have the belief. The balance in between belief and quality I know very well because I am 51 and you are still young. You need to still know yourself’.”

But he persuaded Mudryk to take him on again yesterday and this time managed to earn a tie.
Poch added: “Today was the first time we drew in the challenge.
“Now, you start to believe in yourself, you start to believe in your quality because, if not, it is not a good balance between belief and quality.
“It is difficult. That is important. It is one aspect of how you work on the psychology of the player and how you can make the difference and provide him with the confidence afterwards to touch the ball and score rather than to go outside or inside. It’s a small example.”
Mudryk is symbolic of the huge problems Chelsea have experienced under the ownership of Boehly and Clearlake Capital — a young player signed at great expense failing to hit the heights expected of him.
Chelsea have failed to score in their last three Premier League games and Pochettino is worried his forwards will start overthinking and snatching at chances.
He said: “Confidence in one aspect is to score goals. We need to be more natural.
“To create chances, it’s not only about your positional game, your movement, if you play with one or two strikers, or different characteristics of the game, the most important thing is to be natural.
“We have been talking a lot in the last two days and we are going to work hard and remain positive.

“For different circumstances we are not in the best situation. The problem is we are not clinical in front of goal.
“But the important thing is to stay calm and keep working.”
Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson, a £30million buy from Villarreal, is hoping to get back in Poch’s good books with a goal in tonight’s Carabao Cup third-round home tie with Brighton.
Jackson collected his FIFTH yellow card of the season in Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat by Aston Villa — despite a warning from his boss to avoid cheap bookings — and is now suspended for Monday’s West London derby with Fulham.
Pochettino has held more talks with the striker and dished out a punishment that he is keeping under wraps.
The Chelsea boss said: “He needs to learn not only in this but in other areas.
“We are going to see if he is clever enough to adapt and accept advice, and also to learn from mistakes.
“Did he get fined? Not really . . . not in the way you think. It’s not money, it’s private.
The coach will take the blame, which is what always happens when things begin to go wrong, but there’s a completely different business plan.Gus Poyet
“I don’t like to talk about money with players. But in a different way, of course.”
Former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet says Pochettino’s job would already be on the line if Roman Abramovich was still the owner.
“The most important thing for Chelsea is that on the inside — with the directors, owners and players — they know where they are.
“But Mauricio knows that five points from six games is not what everyone at Chelsea is expecting.
“I know the coach will take the blame, which is what always happens when things begin to go wrong, but there’s a completely different business plan.

And boss Pochettino declared: “This period in the last weeks is a worse scenario than we anticipated.
“We knew a new project is always difficult. But the problem with confidence is we cannot buy it in the supermarket.

Chelsea have EIGHT injured stars — including skipper Reece James and new-boys Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia.
Malo Gusto is suspended for three games following a straight red in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa while striker Nicolas Jackson is banned for Monday’s trip to Fulham after picking up FIVE yellow cards.
Poch insists he has no issue with the owners visiting the dressing room after matches — but claims it is not their job to dish out speeches.
Todd Boehly and co-owner Behdad Eghbali went to see the players following Sunday’s loss to Villa.
Boehly spoke to the team several times last season, notably after a 2-1 defeat by Brighton in April when he told them their season had been “embarrassing.”
Poch added: “I like it when the owners come in. It’s good.
“The way they approach the players is most important. If it is in a good way, they’re welcome.
“It’s not a job of the owner to give a speech after the game, win or lose. But they know very well how they need to behave.” More

Jude Bellingham’s on-field row with Cesar Azpilicueta revealed after moaning about ‘time-wasting’ in Madrid derby

THE HEATED conversation between Jude Bellingham and Cesar Azpilicueta towards the end of the Madrid derby have now allegedly been revealed. Both men were involved in the capital clash on Sunday as Atletico beat Real 3-1 in the LaLiga showdown.

Former Real forward and Chelsea flop Alvaro Morata grabbed a brace for the hosts with Antoine Griezmann getting the other.
The fiery encounter then threatened to boil over in the final few moments as both sets of players clashed.
The trouble ignited when England star Bellingham, 20, caught Atletico’s Angel Correa late in additional time.
As the forward rolled round in pain, Bellingham was confronted by ex-Chelsea skipper Azpilicueta.

The pair were then spotted on camera exchanging words as their respective team-mates jostled with each other.
Now Spanish outlet MARCA has claimed that Azpilicueta shouted at his rival: “Fair play!”
That led Bellingham to hit back with: “Fair play? Come on man, you’ve thrown the ball four times on the field to waste time.”
Bellingham, who joined Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in a £115m deal this summer, ended up receiving a yellow card for the challenge.

However, Atletico boss Diego Simeone felt he got away with one, saying: “Correa’s play, the last one, to me seemed like an expulsion.
“Bellingham’s. It seemed hard to me, with his leg up, Correa hitting the ball.
“It seemed dangerous to Angelito but now when I see it I will surely be able to tell you better.”
Bellingham had enjoyed an incredible start to life at the Bernabeu since his big-money move.
He has scored five goals and produced one assist so far in LaLiga.
And he popped up in stoppage time last week to secure a 1-0 win over Union Belin in Madrid’s opening Champions League match. More

Chelsea could have striker solution solved by Jose Mourinho with Roma ‘considering swap transfer for Romelu Lukaku’

CHELSEA could see their striker issues solved by three former employees, reports suggest.Legendary Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is said to be considering a swap deal that will involve Romelu Lukaku joining the Italian side permanently in exchange for Tammy Abraham.

In Mourinho’s first season at Roma, Abraham, 25, was an instant hit, scoring 27 goals in all competitions.
However, the Englishman slowed down in his second season and has been plagued by injury after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury over the summer, meaning he is yet to feature this season.
Meanwhile, since joining on a loan transfer, Lukaku, 30, has bagged five goals in as many games.
This has led Mourinho, 60, to consider a swap deal between the pair, according to Calciomercatoweb.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
The report states the pair are valued in the same region so a straight swap is in the realm of possibility as opposed to a cash-plus player deal.
Chelsea’s goalscoring exploits have been far from impressive so far this season.

They have scored just five Premier League goals despite a number of additions to the team, including Nicolas Jackson.
This poor return, and a shaky defence to boot, have seen Chelsea fall to 14th in the Premier League table following another defeat against Aston Villa.

As a result, they are already 13 points behind league leaders Manchester City and nine behind Tottenham and Arsenal in fourth and fifth respectively.
Chelsea have wanted to get Lukaku off their books for some time now, and Roma may offer a perfect solution due to Lukaku’s own preference being for a permanent move to Italy.
It was reported in June that Chelsea considered a move for Abraham before he suffered his ACL injury. More

But the land includes the historic Sir Oswald Stoll Mansions where around 100 military veterans and war widows live – and many are battling to stay put.
Vets have now applied for an injunction to stop the Stoll charity trustees who run the block from selling it.
Documents seen by The Sun state that the sale “will diminish the local community and harm residents, many of whom are vulnerable and all of whom have served their country.”
Stoll resident Geoffrey Reed applied to Wandsworth County Court for an injunction to remain in place until the trustees have shown they have properly “discharged their duties.”

The legal block is a major blow to American tycoon Todd Boehly’s ambitious plans to transform The Blues’ west London home.
Military pensioners living at the 1.2-acre site said they would refuse to leave if given their marching orders.
One of the youngest army veterans, Matthew Bignell, 36, said: “People here won’t leave. They’ll have to be taken to court and get eviction notices.
“I’m in a position where I can physically and financially afford to leave but I probably won’t to show support for the other tenants.”

The two-acre site backs onto Stamford Bridge and the deal would pave the way for a full-scale rebuild of the ground, boosting capacity from 42,000 to 55,000.
Mr Boehly’s plans also include two giant sculptures of lions – the Chelsea emblem – outside Stamford Bridge.
The veterans’ planning block creates a new headache for the tycoon after moves to relocate the club’s stadium to Battersea were red carded by angry fans. More

Chelsea have pinched £200m of Brighton assets… but if Blues beat Seagulls in Carabao Cup it’ll be a genuine upset

THE dastardly duo to blame are former Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren ‘Big Dave’ Moore and the ex-England women’s international Izzy Christiansen. On the touchline of a deserted Eco-Power Stadium, the home of Doncaster Rovers, these absolute rascals conducted the draw for the third round of the Carabao Cup last month — and they paired Chelsea with Brighton and Hove Albion.

In doing so, they applied a bloody great sack of Saxa to Chelsea’s open wounds.
Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge, the Blues will welcome the club who are everything they are not — intelligent, well-run, profitable, successful, attractive and sickeningly in love with life.
The season is only six matches old and Brighton are already ten points clear of Todd Boehly’s billionaire boys club.
And Brighton are the club Chelsea have pillaged to the tune of almost a quarter of a billion pounds since Boehly and his Clearlake crew took over at the Bridge.

Since last summer, they have swooped to take Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo, Robert Sanchez, Graham Potter and his entire backroom staff, as well as recruitment chief Paul Winstanley, from the Seagulls.
Yet somehow Brighton are even better and Chelsea are much, much worse.
Now, all the people I know at Brighton seem like thoroughly good eggs but unless they are AI robots devoid of any natural human impulse, then they must surely take time out once a week to sit down in a meeting room and laugh at Chelsea.

Wednesday’s cup tie is a meeting of two clubs who simply defy logic.
If modern football is all about money — and it largely is — then it should be impossible for a club as wealthy as Chelsea to be this bad and for a club as modest as Brighton to be this good.
Two years ago, Chelsea were champions of Europe… now they are no longer even playing in Europe and can’t beat anybody of note.
Last October, Potter — unbeaten in eight games as Chelsea boss — returned to the Amex Stadium and suffered a 4-1 hammering.
Starting that day, Chelsea are now on a run of just 28 points from 33 Premier League matches — beating only Bournemouth (twice), Crystal Palace, Leeds, Leicester and Luton.
This is sustained relegation form — and if the newly promoted trio of Luton, Sheffield United and Burnley did not look so weak, Boehly would have genuine reason to fear relegation.
We’ve already pointed out here the sheer folly of Chelsea spending such an extraordinary amount on such a callow bunch of players.
But during Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat by Aston Villa, striker Nicolas Jackson gave us the perfect example of his club’s rank stupidity.
Jackson was booked for the fifth time in six Premier League matches and every single yellow card has been for dissent.
Perhaps Roberto De Zerbi will show compassion and send out a reserve team, given that — unlike Pochettino — he must juggle the extra demands of European football.
That means he is going to miss Monday’s trip to Fulham, the little club down the road who took them for four points last season and also finished above them.
During his successful spell at Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino was renowned for his work in developing young players and also for being no taker of s***.
Unless the Argentinian manager has gone soft, he must be utterly livid with Jackson and he must be wondering what on Earth he has signed up for.
Meanwhile, Brighton were chalking up a fifth win in six league matches against Bournemouth, courtesy of Kaoru Mitoma, who was signed for roughly two per cent of the fee Chelsea forked out for Caicedo.
Perhaps Roberto De Zerbi will show compassion and send out a reserve team at the Bridge, given that — unlike Pochettino — he must juggle the extra demands of European football.
But if he names a strong line-up, then Chelsea beating Brighton at home will constitute a genuine cup upset.
Which is a staggering, and really rather beautiful state of affairs.
    ED SHAKER
IF VAR officials couldn’t spot that Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah’s horrific late lunge on Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario was a clear and obvious straight red, then — for the umpteenth time — what the hell is VAR actually for?
Eddie Nketiah’s lunge on Guglielmo Vicario should have meant an obvious dismissal for the Arsenal striker, especially after video replaysCredit: Getty
    SQUEAKY TOM TIME
IF Brentford were northern they would have been long recognised as what they are — a bigger, uglier, even better version of Sean Dyche’s Burnley or Tony Pulis’ Stoke.
Yet on Saturday, Dyche’s Everton gave Thomas Frank and Co a proper Dycheing.
The Bees have sold their excellent goalkeeper, David Raya, suffered a lengthy suspension to their goal machine, Ivan Toney, and lost their left-back, Rico Henry, to a horrible season-ending injury.
Brentford are a brilliantly run small club but there is only so much misfortune any small club can take in the Premier League before things start getting seriously squeaky.
    RETRO FIT
AS a tragic lover of retro football kits, it was heartening to see Nottingham Forest turn up at the Etihad in an all-red adidas outfit, so similar to that in which they won two European Cups in 1979 and 1980.

Fed-up Cucurella will likely be recalled for tomorrow’s third-round tie at home to Brighton, who he left to join the Blues last year.
But unless he gets more Premier League game time he is ready to call it quits.
The player has held talks with Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino about his future.
