Pochettino ROWS with Chelsea fan at moody Stamford Brudge after hearing supporter yell at Nicholas Jackson

MAURICIO POCHETTINO could be heard telling a Chelsea fan to ‘support the team!’ after Nicolas Jackson came in for criticism from the stands.

Just moments before the half-time whistle – and with a Brentford player receiving treatment for a minor injury – Stamford Bridge was in near silence.

Mauricio Pochettino told a Chelsea fan to ‘support the team!’ after abuse was aimed at Nicolas Jackson

A fan said to Jackson ‘Wake up’ and ‘Why don’t you score a goal?’

Close to the press box, a Chelsea fan could be heard shouting: “Hey [Nicolas] Jackson, wake up!

“Why don’t you score a goal?”

Jackson appeared to put his finger to his mouth as if to silence the fan.

Then Blues boss Pochettino, whose dugout is just 10 metres in front of media members, turned around and had his say.

“Support the team!” Poch shouted in the general direction of the East Stand Lower.

Other Chelsea fans in that section then clapped the manager’s response, with the half-time whistle blowing moments later.

Chelsea crashed to a first defeat in four in all competitions against their local rivals, Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo scoring for the Bees.

Pochettino’s side registered a dominant 70% possession but struggled to carve out clear-cut chances – especially after going a goal down.

Chelsea slipped to a first defeat in four in all competitions as Brentford beat the Blues 2-0

Noni Madueke almost scored in the early stages, cutting inside Aaron Hickey and unleashing a swirling effort that rocked the angle of the post and bar.

Raheem Sterling had a penalty shout waved away by VAR before Marc Cucurella had Chelsea’s best chance but his soft volley from a Cole Palmer cross was easily collected by Brentford keeper Mark Flekken.

The Blues then had a reasonable shout for a penalty waved away by VAR after Raheem Sterling was shoved by Mads Roerslev.

However, their good work in the first half was undone when Ethan Pinnock arrived late to crash home a header at the far post and put Brentford 1-0 up.

Pushing for an equaliser late on, goalkeeper Robert Sanchez went up for a corner but the Blues were punished as Bryan Mbeumo raced through to score into an empty net.

Speaking about the incident after the game, Pochettino said: “It was a moment where we all felt frustrated. We had played well but we hadn’t scored.

“Jackson arrived to me to try and find a solution [in the game].

“One fan said ‘wake up’ and abused him a little bit – maybe not abuse but abusive – and Nico lost a bit of focus in that moment.

“So I said we need to support the players and stay behind the team.” More

Roma have replaced him with Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea and the Serie A side would consider making the move permanent.
This and manager Jose Mourinho’s expected exit from the club at the end of this season could lead to Abraham wanting out of Italy.
The striker is reportedly keen on a return to England.
Chelsea have always kept an eye on their former player and Lukaku’s potential move to the Stadio Olimpico could facilitate a swap deal.

They also supposedly have a £67m buy-back clause in his Roma contract.
Meanwhile, Brentford are also keen on Abraham and hope £45m will be enough to sign him.
TeamTalk report that he could be high on the Bees’ wishlist should they sell Ivan Toney in the summer.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa are open to bolstering their attack and manager Unai Emery is a big fan of Abraham.

He also proved popular while on loan at Villa Park back in the 2018/2019 season.

Chelsea rebuffed Mykhailo Mudryk transfer offers in summer just six months after £88m move

He failed to nail down a regular starting spot and that led clubs to enquire about his availability, according to Fabrizio Romano.
But the transfer guru claims Chelsea never considered letting the Ukrainian leave.
That is because the club, from the board down to the manager, wanted to protect Mudryk and support him through a difficult patch.
Romano adds that Chelsea have full trust in Mudryk to reach the potential that led them to splash out such a huge transfer fee earlier this year.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
Mudryk is understood to be settled in London now and it appears the club’s faith in him is beginning to pay off.
The 22-year-old scored his first goal for the club against Fulham in a 2-0 win earlier this month.
He followed that up with a goal against Arsenal at the weekend, albeit with a big slice of luck.
However, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino warned Mudryk he still needs to improve, believing there is more to come from the former Shakhtar Donetsk star.

On his Arsenal efforts, Pochettino said: “I think he played well but he also needs to improve. For me, he is still not at his best.
“I think we needed to make a change to add a little bit more pressure with Jackson in front.
“In that situation, we created a few chances and the game was closer to 3-0 than 2-1.” More

Leaburn has been impressing with the Addicks where he’s netted six times in just ten appearances this season.
And he’s got the attributes to succeed at the highest level with his crazy 6ft 6in stature at just 19-years-old.
Not only that, but it’s in his blood too as the son of Charlton legend Carl Leaburn who made over 300 appearances for the club between 1987 and 1998.
Chelsea are already familiar with his abilities after he rose through their youth ranks before making his move to Charlton in 2019.

But they’re not the only clubs who have had an eye on the centre-forward either.
Brentford have garnered a reputation for uncovering hidden gems in the transfer market and are keen.
While Aston Villa were said to be trying to strike up a deal last season, but were given an emphatic no by the EFL club.
While it’s reported that a German Bundesliga club submitted a bid worth over £3million this summer, only to see that rejected too.

Charlton may be sitting on a future top level talent, but they’re not feeling pressured to offload the man that has been crucial for them so far this term.

Jadon Sancho ‘could make shock transfer to Chelsea in January’ as Man Utd look to offload exiled star

JADON SANCHO could turn to Chelsea in a bid to end his Manchester United exile, reports say. The winger – who joined United from Borussia Dortmund for £73million in 2021 – has been frozen out of the squad.

It followed after a public spat with manager Erik ten Hag, who dropped Sancho before United’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal on September 3.
Sancho claimed he was being made a “scapegoat” by his manager after his performances in training were criticised in a post-match interview by the Dutchman.
Crisis talks took place as United chiefs tried to intervene to strike a peace deal but Sancho refused to apologise to Ten Hag for his explosive comments on social media.
With the forward still refusing to make amends to his boss, it looks as though his future in the red half of Manchester is over.

According to The Athletic, Sancho’s connections to London – where he grew up – make Chelsea a possible option.
The Blues were long linked with the England international until they were beaten in the transfer race by United.
But Chelsea did sign Cole Palmer in the summer while Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke all compete for places on the wing.
Juventus are another club linked with a move for Sancho.

Clubs from Turkey, Germany and Italy have also been tipped with an interest in him.
However, former side Dortmund have distanced themselves with a return for their old player.
Sancho has kept himself busy outside of training as he was pictured at a birthday party for basketball star John Wall in September.
He was seen at the Cirque Le Soir nightclub in London alongside Mike Tyson’s son, Amir.

He then guided them to the Europa League final last term but Roma have made an indifferent start to the current campaign.
Mourinho, 60, is only under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until June 2024 and now it looks unlikely that he will be staying after that.
TeamTalk claims that the Portuguese coach is “set to leave once his contract expires” and that his departure “will usher in a new era” in Rome.
And they also claim that “several players will follow him out the door” – and one of those is 26-year-old England international striker Abraham.
