    6

Timo Werner and Kai Havertz are close to the top of the pile of Chelsea’s FIFA 21 ratings

    6

Kepa’s rating has dropped from 84 to 82 this year

    6

Mason Mount has flown up by five after jumping from 75 to 80

And the Chelsea players have all had their ratings adjusted for the new campaign – including new summer signings Havertz and Werner.
The German duo are both rated 85 overall after big-money moves to join Frank Lampard’s squad.
Mount receives a big increase of five after an impressive debut season at Stamford Bridge and is now rated 80 after only being 75 in the last edition.

But the leading Chelsea star is N’Golo Kante, the French World Cup winner is rated 88, although it is a reduction of one from last year.

Another man who has gone down in value is Spanish outcast Kepa.
The blunder-prone keeper has taken a hit of two after being bumped down from 84 to 82 in the overall ratings.
The world’s most expensive keeper has lost his No1 spot to new signing Edouard Mendy, rated 79.
Kepa has not started a game after being jettisoned by Lampard since gifting Sadio Mane a goal with a clanger trying to pass out from the back.

    6

New signings Thiago Silva and Hakim Ziyech are also rated 85

    6

Tammy Abraham’s rating was raised to 78 from 76 overall

Spain boss Luis Enrique has kept faith with The Blues flop and while on international duty Kepa revealed his shock at getting the axe.
Surprise birthday party recipient Tammy Abraham has seen his stock rise by two after receiving a new rating of 78 compared to 2020’s 76.
While Blues fans will get the chance to play with new boy Hakim Ziyech, rated 85, before Lampard has been able to deploy the injured playmaker.

Chelsea star Timo Werner out of Germany game vs Turkey with ‘slight cold’ but striker hopes to be fit for Nations League

CHELSEA are sweating on the fitness of Timo Werner after he pulled out of Germany’s game against Turkey through illness.
Sky Sports reports Werner, 24, is yet to join up with the national team in Cologne and will miss Wednesday’s friendly game.

German assistant coach Marcus Sorg said on Monday: “Timo Werner has a slight cold and won’t join up with the team today.”
Sorg confirmed they are expecting him to arrive in the next few days ahead of the Nations League games against Ukraine and Switzerland on October 10 and 13.
Blues team-mates Antonio Rudiger and Kai Havertz are set to start for Germany against Turkey.

Rudiger had arrived a day later than the rest of the squad after having a meeting with boss Joachim Low on Monday.

The centre-back was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge on deadline day after falling down Frank Lampard’s pecking order.
Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan were all rumoured to be interested in a move for the 27-year-old but he remains a Chelsea player after the window slammed shut on Monday night.
Rudiger’s switch across London to Spurs reportedly fell through as he feared a backlash from the Chelsea faithful for joining one of the club’s rivals.
On Tuesday, Low said: “He is a player who can always raise our game, so I think he will definitely be starting tomorrow.”

Werner played the full 90 minutes in Chelsea’s 4-0 rout of Crystal Palace on Saturday.
He has bagged a goal and an assist in five appearance in all competitions since arriving in West London over the summer.
He suffered cramp at the end of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup tie against Spurs – which prevented him from taking a penalty in the shoot-out defeat.
Chelsea splashed £53million to sign Werner from RB Leipzig and pay him £170,000 a week.
Werner has netted 12 times in 30 caps for Germany since making his debut in 2017. More

Callum Hudson-Odoi transfer exit a possibility before deadline day, admits Chelsea boss Frank Lampard

FRANK LAMPARD admitted he cannot say for certain that Callum Hudson-Odoi will not make a deadline-beating move to Bayern Munich.
The Chelsea chief insists Hudson-Odoi, who made his first Prem start of the season in yesterday’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, is a key part of his plans.

    2

Yet Bayern also declared their interest in the England attacker and are desperate to sign him.
Hudson-Odoi, 19, only signed a five-year deal at the Blues 12 months ago and Lampard will hold talks with him before tomorrow’s deadline.
Lampard said: “There is no definitive answer — by Monday we will know the answer.
“Bayern might have declared their interest, which is one thing, but Callum is absolutely part of my plans.

“What Callum wants comes into consideration.
“He is our player and everything has to be right for everyone.
“Callum showed what we wanted, especially in the second half when he was more aggressive, took on the full-back and got crosses in.”
Bayern were linked with Hudson-Odoi before he agreed to his long-term contract with Chelsea.

And they remain big fans, with boss Hansi Flick hailing the Chelsea attacker as ‘one of the biggest talents’.
Quizzed over Hudson-Odoi in a press conference, Flick said: “I don’t know what will happen.
“But he is one of the biggest talents in his position. So it is normal that a club like Bayern deals with him.”

Callum Hudson-Odoi transfer chase hots up as ‘Chelsea reject Bayern Munich’s loan bid with £70m option to buy’

CHELSEA have reportedly rejected a £70million loan-to-buy offer from Bayern Munich for Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The England international is a target for the Champions League winners, who want the 19-year-old winger before Monday’s transfer deadline.

    2

But the Daily Mail claim that the Blues rejected the move, which hasn’t deterred the Bavarians.
They say the Bundesliga giants will return with another bid before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Hudson-Odoi starred for Chelsea in their comprehensive 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

And manager Frank Lampard revealed the club didn’t want to send the talent out on loan and hoped the teenager would stay.
However, he confessed that they would have to take Hudson-Odoi’s feelings into account.
Lampard said: “There is no definitive answer.
“By Monday we’ll know the definitive answer. If Bayern have declared their interest that’s one thing. But everything that happens on Monday will be what is good for the club, because Callum’s our player.

“Also what Callum wants will come into consideration.
“At the minute I want Callum part of my squad, particularly when he’s offering up what he offered up in the second half and when he came on against West Brom.”
Hudson-Odoi has been linked with a move to Bayern since 2019, and manager Hansi Flick has made no secret of his admiration for the exciting player.
Flick revealed: “He is one of the greatest talents in that position.

“He can play wide and as a No.10 so it’s entirely legitimate that we at Bayern Munich are interested in him.”
After signing a new contract last year, Hudson-Odoi suffered a serious Achilles injury.
And competition for places became fierce this summer when Chelsea added Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, who can all play in the wide positions.

How Chelsea could line up vs Crystal Palace with Pulisic back from injury and Mendy set to start in goal

CHELSEA will be desperate to return to winning ways when they entertain Crystal Palace on Saturday.
And the game could feature the Premier League debut of new keeper Edouard Mendy.

    3

Cheslea could line up like this for their game against Crystal Palace

The Senegal international impressed between the sticks despite Chelsea losing to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
He is almost certain to get the gloves, with boss Frank Lampard seemingly at the end of his tether with blunder keeper Kepa.
Christian Pulisic is back in the frame for the game, but will only make the bench at best as he is eased back from injury.
The Blues were 3-0 down in their last Premier League fixture away at West Brom, but managed to somehow snatch a 3-3 draw.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and club captain Cesar Azpilicueta were two players brought off the bench to rescue the situation.
And both performed well enough to give themselves a great chance of starting the Palace game.
Lampard’s big decision could be whether to play Tammy Abraham or Timo Werner up top.
If Abraham gets the nod it could mean a move out wide for the £52m German signing from RB Leipzig.

One player who almost certainly looks likely to miss out this weekend is Marcos Alonso.
The left-back was hauled off at half-time against Albion, and it was revealed he went to watch the second half in the team bus.
Lampard was fuming and made him come back and sit on the bench. He then gave the Spaniard a dressing down in front of his team-mates after the game.
And Ross Barkley definitely won’t feature – at least for Chelsea this weekend.

The 26-year-old midfielder joined Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season.
The arrival of Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech threatened to leave the ace out of Blues boss Lampard’s plans — with the postponed Euros looming.
Midfielder Barkley said: “The last couple of years I’ve been stop-start, performing well and then being out of the team. To come here and have the chance to play  regularly is a big thing for me.
“The Euros at the end of season is a big target, hopefully I can be there.
“Dean Smith swayed me with the way he spoke to me,  it looks like it’s going to be an exciting season.”

Lampard knows defence is biggest threat to his Chelsea reign – and on this showing he better get chequebook out again

CHELSEA show great spirit but continue to be haunted by their defensive nemesis.
The age old threat to Frank Lampard’s reign as Chelsea manager came back with vengeance today in the 3-3 draw at West Brom in the Premier League.

Thiago Silva had a debut to forget and was at fault for West Brom’s second goalCredit: Eddie Keogh Telegraph Media Group

His team went down 3-0 to West Brom inside the first 45 minutes, and it was a case of the return of their nemesis – the lack of ability to defend.
Marcos Alonso was the first to feel the threat of the nemesis and made a ridiculous individual error to gift West Brom the first goal.
But then one man who supposed to be their saviour, Thiago Silva, made just as bad of an individual error to hand West Brom their second goal.
Silva was made captain on the night, and Lampard was speaking about his experience being vital before the game.

But this backfired as Silva tried but failed to stand up to the defensive issues from last season.
Of course, it is only his second match for a new team in unfamiliar territory; he can certainly be allowed the odd mistake or two.
But this just added to the misery of Chelsea facing up to the reality that it looks very much like they will need to fight their biggest weakness of last season, the leaky back line.
Inside the top ten last season, Chelsea were the club that conceded the most amount of goals, and they finished second.

After adding Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, and Edouard Mendy in an attempt to help solve those issues – today has shown worrying signs.
The silver lining here of course is that only one of these was playing today.
But is this a problem so far engrained in the club, that it is going to take more than personnel to sort this out?
Whatever it is, it seems to seep through all of the players from the strikers to defenders, and Chelsea’s third goal they conceded emphasised that point.
Shock horror, they failed to deal with a cross and West Brom went 3-0 up.

Lampard’s face said it all as his old enemy came back to haunt him once more.
But it wasn’t all bad on the night for Chelsea, who showed great spirit to fight back and draw the game 3-3.
But even still, Lampard’s face told the story at the final whistle.

Watch Thiago Silva’s shocker as Chelsea concede THREE in 30 minutes vs West Brom in latest defensive nightmare

THIAGO SILVA made a shocking error on his Chelsea debut that led to West Brom scoring in the pulsating 3-3 draw.
And in a brutal introduction to Premier League football, the Chelsea captain watched on as Albion scored three goals in 30 minutes to stun Frank Lampard on the bench.

    2

Thiago Silva slipped that allowed Callum Robinson in to scoreCredit: Eddie Keogh Telegraph Media Group

Silva slipped in the 25th minute to allow Callum Robinson to nick the ball and fire past Willy Caballero, preferred in goal to blunder keeper Kepa.
The Blues were already 1-0 down before this when Marcos Alonso’s error let in Robinson to score his first.
Things got even worse as a collective for the visitors when Kyle Bartley poked home after Chelsea were left looking like statues at a corner.
Despite spending £220million this summer, mostly on attacking players, Chelsea’s defensive frailties were brutally exposed at The Hawthorns.

Blues fans heralded the signing of Silva when he joined on a free from Paris Saint-Germain.
But he will need to keep his eye on the ball a lot better than he did tonight if he is going to endear himself to Blues fans.
Boss Lampard looked a mixture of stunned and fuming as he slumped on to his seat in the dugout at 2-0 down.
But things only got worse for the 42-year-old gaffer when centre-half Bartley made it 3-0 on the half-hour mark.

    2

Lampard immediately signalled to his bench as if he was ready to make instant changes.
But he decided to let the starting XI show him what they got for the remainder of the first 45.
The half-time team talk won’t have been a pretty affair as Albion, who had conceded EIGHT goals in their opening two Premier League, looked on course for an easy win.
But Lampard’s troops showed some fight to somehow bag a point from the game thanks to second-half strikes from Mason Mount, sub Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham.
Speaking about Silva, Lampard said after the game: “Thiago made a mistake, he has been around long enough to know that.
“But we will certainly give him that one in his first game.
“We need to cut out the mistakes as a team so we don’t concede.m We need to be strong together and keep encouraging one another.”

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger wanted by Barcelona in shock transfer if they fail to land Man City’s Eric Garcia

BARCELONA are reportedly lining up a surprise swoop for Chelsea outcast Antonio Rudiger.
The defender is said to be unhappy at Stamford Bridge having failed to make an appearance in the early weeks of the season.

    1

And, with Frank Lampard admitting the player could soon leave, reports have emerged of a possible destination.
German publication Kicker and Spanish newspaper Sport both believe Barcelona have Rudiger in their sights.
The centre-back, 27, is seen as an alternative to Manchester City starlet Eric Garcia, who wants to return to Spain.
First on Barcelona’s wish list is Garcia, 19, who is reportedly available for around £16million.

But, with his contract up next summer, he could stay in Manchester and leave for free in June.
That has prompted Barcelona to consider their options, although an alternative purchase will only be completed if Samuel Umtiti leaves.
However, Mundo Deportivo have claimed there is no interest in Rudiger coming out of the Camp Nou.
It is becoming increasingly apparent that Rudiger can leave Chelsea for the right price.

Left out of the squad for the Blues’ Premier League openers and the Carabao Cup thrashing of Barnsley, the Germany international’s career in West London appears to be all-but over.
Fikayo Tomori appeared in the defeat to Liverpool before starting alongside new signing Thiago Silva last night.
Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma have started both Premier League matches while Malang Sarr and Ethan Ampadu are hopeful of first-team action in the coming years.
After the Barnsley win, manager Lampard admitted Rudiger and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could leave the club.
He said: “The situation with both is that they weren’t in the squad.
“I had a similar answer from the other day, they just weren’t in the squad. That is just a choice at the moment.

“Again with the centre-halves I can’t have them all in the squad. I keep getting asked about the size of the squad.
“There might be movement, we know that, but nothing is concrete so don’t read too much into those selections at the minute.
“It will have to be things which are right for the club and individuals and me and in terms of what happens in the next couple of weeks.”
