Chelsea’s £9m on-loan starlet Conor Gallagher ‘wanted by Crystal Palace in summer transfer overhaul’

CRYSTAL PALACE are reportedly ready to launch a summer bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The 21-year-old starred on loan at Charlton and Swansea last term before moving into the Premier League with a stint at West Brom.

According to the Express, Gallagher has caught the eye of the Eagles as they plot a summer overhaul.
Speculation over the future of manager Roy Hodgson persists and the squad is also thought to be set for a revamp.
A staggering 11 players are out of contract at Selhurst Park this summer.
Chelsea would reportedly want around £9million for Gallagher with the midfielder under contract until 2025.

Whether or not Thomas Tuchel believes the youngster has a future role in his first-team remains to be seen with the Blues tipped to once again spend big in the summer.
Fellow young midfielder Billy Gilmour impressed on his occasional first-team runouts before the German arrived but has often not made the bench since.
Palace are also linked with a move for John Lundstram, who is out of contract at Sheffield United in the summer.
The Blades and Baggies are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the Premier League but Gallagher in particular has impressed this season.

He has notched a pair of goals and assists in 24 appearances, with manager Sam Allardyce praising the player’s talents.

He said last month: “What’s happened with Conor is that, for a young man, I think his performances have been pretty consistent.
“I hope that grows and gets better and better.
“What I’ve liked to see from him, in terms of the pressure of defeats that have been happening, is that it doesn’t seem to be affecting him much and he still tries to play as best he possibly can.
“Obviously there is room for everybody to improve, and him, but maybe with the help of the new players he can get even better.”

Arsenal and Chelsea in Achraf Hakimi transfer race and crisis-club Inter Milan could cash in amid financial turmoil

ARSENAL and Chelsea are competing to sign Achraf Hakimi from crisis-club Inter Milan, reports say.
Inter’s owners, Suning Holdings Group, have recently announced they will be shutting down their Chinese Super League team, Jiangsu FC.

It has led to speculation that they could also be forced to step away from the San Siro – although chairman Steven Zhang has repeatedly dismissed rumours of a sale or takeover.
The club may still need to raise significant funds causing Antonio Conte to look at clearing his squad.
And according to The Telegraph, right-back Hakimi, 22, is a potential casualty, with London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea interested.
The Gunners have been in the market for a potential replacement for Hector Bellerin, who is linked with a move to PSG and Juventus.

It is understood Arsenal were alerted to Hakimi’s potential availability.
But Chelsea are also said to be interested in the defender, who joined Inter from Real Madrid for £34million last summer.
That is despite Reece James’ emergence in the first-team, Callum Hudson-Odoi’s recent run at wingback and Cesar Azpilicueta’s ability to cover at full-back.
After struggling for game time at Madrid, Hakimi was sent on loan to Borussia Dortmund for two seasons from 2018 to 2020.

Dortmund were keen to make the deal permanent after the Moroccan established himself as one of the best young talents in Germany.
But Hakimi opted for a five-year contract with Inter and has impressed, scoring six goals with four assists.
He has also helped the club to league leaders, six points ahead of neighbours AC Milan.

Chelsea ace Luke McCormick wanted by Millwall in summer transfer with 22-year-old impressing at Bristol Rovers

CHELSEA midfielder Luke McCormick may have played his way into a move to Millwall.
McCormick has caught the eye on a loan spell at League One Bristol Rovers and the Lions hope to tie up a deal for him in the summer.

The 22-year-old is set to leave Stamford Bridge before going into the last year of his deal.
That should see a switch across London to join Gary Rowett’s Championship outfit.
A short spell with Shrewsbury in 2019 saw the midfielder make his debut in senior football.
McCormick has played 30 games on loan at Rovers this campaign but missed Saturday’s defeat to Hull through suspension.

Gas boss Joey Barton backed the youngster to bounce back after earning a second yellow against Burton for kicking the ball away.
He said: “Macca’s obviously very disappointed, but he’s a young player and he’s here on loan to learn lessons, and that will be a lesson he will learn and carry on into his career.

“It’s disappointing, but we win together and we lose together. He’ll be superb for us between now and the end of the season and I’m sure he will turn in performances that will go some way to making up for that error.”

Meanwhile, Millwall are set for another year in the Championship while sat firmly in mid-table with 11 games to go.
A defeat to Blackburn on the weekend left the capital club 11 points off the play-off places but 14 clear of the drop.

Man City ace Kevin De Bruyne reveals brutal Jose Mourinho meeting that ended Chelsea spell

JOSE MOURINHO produced a brutal stats sheet to slate Kevin De Bruyne’s performances at Chelsea, the midfielder has revealed.
The Blues failed to get the best out of De Bruyne, the reigning PFA Player of the Year.

And the 29-year-old has spoken of Mourinho’s criticism at Stamford Bridge.
De Bruyne told Sky Sports: “There was so much in the press about my relationship with Jose Mourinho.
“But the truth is that I only ever spoke to him twice. The plan was always for me to go on loan for a bit.
“Jose called me into his office in December, and it was probably the second big life-changing moment for me.

“He had some papers in front of him, and he said, ‘One assist. Zero goals. Ten recoveries’.
“It took me a minute to understand what he was doing. Then he started reading the stats of the other attacking forwards – Willian, Oscar, [Juan] Mata, [Andre] Schurrle. And it’s like – five goals, ten assists, whatever.
“Jose was just kind of waiting for me to say something, and finally I said, ‘But… some of these guys have played 15, 20 games. I’ve only played three. So it’s going to be different, no?’.
“It was so strange. I was completely honest. I said, ‘I feel like the club doesn’t really want me here. I want to play football. I’d rather you sell me’.”

De Bruyne lined up in L’Equipe’s 2020 World XI
Chelsea snapped up the playmaker from Genk in 2012 but was given just six months in the first-team before a sale to Wolfsburg.
Manchester City would break their club record transfer fee to land De Bruyne, who has won two Premier League crowns at the Etihad.
Ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby, which could see City extend their lead atop the table to 15 points, the Belgian stated his delight at how leaving Chelsea worked out.
He noted: “I decided to go away because I felt I didn’t have any chances of playing at the time.

“I didn’t see more opportunities coming so for me, it was the best decision to leave Chelsea and go to a situation where I felt I could start again.
“Did I expect it to go this way? Obviously not, because at that time it was a low point in my career but I never had any doubt in my abilities as a football player.
“I can’t think what is going to happen eight years down the line playing for City, in World Cups and all that stuff. It’s wonderful.”

N’Golo Kante injury update as Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel reveals he will NOT play 90 minutes against Everton

CHELSEA boss Thomas Tuchel revealed N’Golo Kante will NOT play 90 minutes against Everton.
The Frenchman returned to the squad at the end of January having been sidelined with a hamstring problem.

He has started the Blues’ last three matches and was a key figure in their away trip at Liverpool, providing the assist for Mason Mount’s winner.
But Tuchel confirmed Kante, 29, will be given a rest in some capacity when Chelsea welcome Everton on Monday evening.
He said: “This is unbelievable and we see his intensity in the physical report after matches and we think maybe they tracked two people and put it into one sheet.
“It is unbelievable what he delivers in terms of intensity and ball recoveries and of devotion for a group.

“This is world class, the highest level, and we are very happy he is in our squad. He comes from injury.
“He will not play now all games 90 minutes before we arrive at the international break. We have to manage him.”
Chelsea have only conceded two league goals since Tuchel replaced club legend Frank Lampard.
He has adopted a three at the back formation, with a two-man central midfield and wingbacks.

Kante, as well as Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, have all enjoyed roles in the midfield pivot and Tuchel has been left over the moon with the results.
He said: “I am very happy to have him and Kova and Jorginho in defensive midfield.
“This is exactly the level we need to win games at the highest level and I am super happy with all of them.”
Chelsea, unbeaten under Tuchel, are currently fourth, and a win will put them four points ahead of Everton, who still have a game in hand.

Shivering Chelsea stars given blankets to keep warm on Liverpool bench as fans joke ‘don’t let Roy Keane see this’

THE sight of Chelsea substitutes being handed blankets to warm up during the win over Liverpool left fans calling for the footage to be hidden from Roy Keane.
The curmudgeonly pundit was not on hand to give his reaction to the Blues stars shivering on the bench at Anfield.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcos Alonso, Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic were all seen throwing extra layers on as they watched Thursday’s game unfold.
Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler joked: “What’s happening to footballers these days? It’s a little bit chilly.”
And Liverpool hero turned pundit Jamie Carragher added: “They don’t like it up north.”
Many saw the funny side and remarked that Sky analyst Keane, 49, would have hated the sight.

One fan online wrote: “Don’t let Roy Keane see this.”
While another posted with laughing emojis: “Roy Keane’s face after witnessing this.”
Manchester United icon Keane has never held back on criticising players who he perceives to be weak or pampered.
In September 2016, he reacted to a solid performance by Arsenal and Theo Walcott by claiming they would suffer when it got cold later in the season.

Keane stated: “The crunch games are still to come for them, when the cold nights come in.
“With half the Arsenal players with their gloves on, so I wouldn’t be getting carried away with Walcott.”
Indeed, the Gunners’ title challenge did collapse that season although their worst drop in form occurred towards the end of the winter.
Some fans leapt to the defence of Chelsea’s subs warming up while waiting to come on in the 1-0 win, with the clip posted online by Sky coming after 22 minutes of the match.

One wrote: “Keeping their muscles warm to prevent injuries?…. have you ever seen football?”
While another viewer stated: “They’re human and were cold, thus they were handed blankets in order to keep warm. It’s not rocket science is it?”
Yet one fan laughed in a comment that read: “Game’s gone soft.”

The 18-year-old also made history recently by establishing himself as Bayern’s youngest ever goalscorer in the Champions League after his stunning finish in last week’s 4-1 thrashing of Lazio.
Musiala told the club’s official website after signing a lucrative five-year contract: ” I’m really pleased to have signed my first professional contract at FC Bayern.

Juventus ready to swoop for Jorginho as they make Chelsea midfielder ‘Plan B’ transfer if they miss out on Locatelli

JUVENTUS have identified Chelsea star Jorginho as an alternative to main summer transfer target Manuel Locatelli, according to reports.
Sassuolo ace Locatelli poses as Juve’s top target ahead of the summer transfer window following a raft of impressive performances in Serie A this season.

According to Calciomercatio, however, the defending Italian champions are lining Jorginho up as a potential Plan B in case they fail to land their main man.
Juventus have been keeping tabs on the star midfielder since last season when former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri was in charge.
The Italy international broke onto the scene at Napoli in 2017 when Sarri was in charge and continued to shine bright at Stamford Bridge when the Italian coach took him along to west London.
Juventus have continued to track Jorginho even after Sarri was replaced by club legend Andrea Pirlo in the dugout last summer.

The 29-year-old ace’s Chelsea contract expires in 2023 and his agent has never ruled out a potential return to Italy.
The Bianconeri are likely to continue to monitor the situation but Pirlo appears to have made it clear to the club’s management that Locatelli is his top pick.
The Sassuolo ace has played a critical role in the Neroverdi’s impressive campaign that has seen them climb up to ninth place in the table.

Juventus have been short of quality players in midfield for some time and have identified the Italy international as the solution to their problems.

However, the Vecchia Signora are bracing themselves for a potential bidding war with Manchester City, who are also keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.
If City beat Juventus to Locatelli then it is highly likely that Jorginho will soon be subject to a transfer bid by the Turin-based club.
