    Edouard Mendy – 8
He made some decent and important saves at crucial times and his distribution was decent again.
    Cesar Azpilicueta – 7
Positioning in that right-centre-back role is very good and he always makes use of being the extra wide man in attack.
He was very lucky to not have given away a penalty, and maybe even be sent off, in the first-half at 0-0.

    N’Golo Kante – 10
Another outstanding performance from him both offensively and defensively.
He was great taking the ball and dribbling under pressure, and he made some vital interceptions at the back.
    Marcos Alonso – 7
Contributed to the play well and he was always an outlet out wide.
Didn’t have a lot to do at the back, but he made up that extra man in attack well.

    Hakim Ziyech – 8
Took his goal well, which was much needed for his confidence.
Overall, he contributed much more and was involved in most things Chelsea did good.

Werner on the break at speed, and then played the perfect ball into Ziyech to finish.
    Kai Havertz – 8
Quality on the ball, and showed great vision once again.

Watch Chelsea summer transfers Ziyech, Havertz and Werner combine for slick 11-SECOND counter-attack goal vs Atletico

An Atletico ball into the box was cleared by N’Golo Kante and Havertz was the first to react.
The German, who showed glimpses of his class in the recent win over Everton, strode clear and played in Werner.
Although goals have been in short supply for the striker, his creativity has been a big asset as he showed once again here.
Werner slotted a neat pass across the box after controlling the ball.
And there was Ziyech, arriving on time to deliver a sweet finish past Jan Oblak.
In total, just ELEVEN seconds passed from when Chelsea won the ball to sticking it in the back of the net.
It was £33million man Ziyech’s third goal for the club but his first since October.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were defending a 1-0 advantage from the first leg and were arguably fortunate to grab the opening goal.
That is because Atleti were denied a penalty for a Cesar Azpilicueta push on Yannick Carrasco earlier on.
BT Sport pundits Joe Cole and Rio Ferdinand were left flabbergasted by referee Daniele Orsato not pointing to the spot.
Former Chelsea star Cole stated: “Cesar knows he’s undercooked the backpass, he knows he’s in trouble and it the arm across him.

“In this day and age, I don’t know why it hasn’t gone to VAR to have a look at it.”
Ferdinand added: “This is why VAR has become such a farce. Because it gives situations like that where you think ‘oh my god, how has that not been looked at?’.
“Once the referee sees that, he 100 per cent gives a penalty.”
Stefan Savic was sent off after the break for an elbow aimed at Antonio Rudiger, before substitute Emerson Palmieri wrapped it up in stoppage time as Chelsea coasted into the quarter-finals with a 3-0 aggregate win.

How Chelsea could line up with Paulo Dybala, Erling Haaland and Jose Gimenez as Tuchel plots transfer overhaul

CHELSEA continue to be linked with a plethora of star names for a huge summer transfer spree. The latest top talent touted is Paulo Dybala, who could be leaving Juventus for around £47million this summer.
How Chelsea could line up with Timo Werner leaving and four stars arriving
According to France Football, Chelsea and Tottenham are tracking the Argentine amid his disappointing season in Turin.
Dybala’s contract expires in 2022 and Juve could cash in on the 27-year-old to help combat their financial trouble.
No such economic issues are reported at Stamford Bridge, where the Blues flaunted a net spend topping £170m ahead of the season.
Many of those signings are yet to gel, with Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech delivering underwhelming debut seasons.
It is said that Chelsea and owner Roman Abramovich hold a strong desire to return to the market and build a side worthy of challenging for next season’s title.
Football Insider recently told of a plot to offer flop forward Werner to Borussia Dortmund in a player-plus-cash deal for Erling Haaland.

With the Bundesliga club likely to seek upwards of £120m for their hotshot forward, this setup may save Chelsea some cash for other deals.
Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez has also been linked with a move to the Premier League.
According to The Athletic, the Uruguayan is a long-term target of the Blues while Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule and Ibrahima Konate of RB Leipzig are also said to be of interest.
Fitting these three stars into his 5-2-3 formation would be little issue for Tuchel, particularly with his attack in need of improvement.

Rounding off the spree could be Gianluigi Donnarumma following his re-emergence in the gossip columns.
The Italian is out of contract in the summer and remains in talks with AC Milan over a new deal.
But Eurosport detail Chelsea’s continued interest in the goalkeeper, if they can meet his £175,000-a-week wage demands.

Chelsea star Rudiger reveals he discussed summer transfer with Tottenham boss Mourinho and PSG before Blues revival

JOSE MOURINHO held talks with Antonio Rudiger over a summer switch from Chelsea to Tottenham, the defender has admitted.Former Blues boss Frank Lampard did not consider the German central to his plans and a move to Paris Saint-Germain was also discussed.

But Chelsea opted against loaning Rudiger, 28, out and he watched much of the first half of the season from the sidelines.
He told reporters: “I was obviously shocked, though maybe shocked is the wrong word.
“Some things I saw coming, obviously not being in the squad at all was not something I saw coming.
“But at the end of the day I took it on the chin. There were two teams – but mainly one team I was considering. That was PSG.
“There was a call with Mourinho, and with [Thomas] Tuchel, but this is something that didn’t happen.”
The centre-back is expected to start in Wednesday’s clash with Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea hold a 1-0 lead over the LaLiga leaders as they look to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in seven years.
Key to Tuchel’s early success in the Stamford Bridge dugout has been a remarkable defensive record, conceding just three goals in 13 games.
Rudiger has been a mainstay in the new manager’s line-up having fought his way back in under Lampard.
Speaking of the summer transfer talk, he added: “I was a bit upset because I knew my situation was that I would not be playing that often.

“But then I had talks with the Lampard and all of a sudden I was back on the bench and then I also had a couple of games.
“I just worked my way back. I played the last games of his reign and now things are going well for me.
“I’m very happy about it, but to be honest I always felt well in the club, they treated me nice, especially the board.
“No one told me you should leave, neither did Frank Lampard. At the end of the day the loans didn’t happen. But nobody told me I should leave.”

Forgotten Chelsea man Matt Miazga ‘wants more stability’ after four loan spells and considers Anderlecht transfer offer

MATT MIAZGA has spoken of his desire for ‘more stability’ while on his fourth loan spell away from Chelsea.Signed for £3.5million in 2015, the 25-year-old has enjoyed positive spells away from Stamford Bridge yet remains unlikely to break into Thomas Tuchel’s team upon his return.

Currently starring for Anderlecht after stints with Vitesse, Nantes and Reading, the centre-back opened the door to a longer stay in Belgium if his loan club qualify for Europe.
Miazga told De Zondag, via Sport Witness: “I belong to Chelsea but I’ve said I want more stability.
“In November, I was asked if I wanted to stay come the end of the season.
“I want to focus on the end of the campaign before talking about the rest. Qualifying for a European competition could influence my choice.”
Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has endured a mixed time in charge of Anderlecht but Miazga praised his methods.
The American added: “He is so good.
“He was a central defender and I learned a lot from him in recent months, especially in terms of playing the game.
“Every detail counts and I love working with him.”

Anderlecht sit fifth in the Belgian First Division, just outside the top-four which will split off and fight for the title in four games’ time.
Chelsea’s extensive loan army boasts 31 members including stars such as Danny Drinkwater, Fikayo Tomori and Victor Moses.
Former Blues hopeful Lucas Piazon slammed the club earlier this year for failing to give these players a chance, with the Brazilian sent away seven times in his nine years at the club.

How Chelsea could line up against Atletico Madrid with Mount and Jorginho suspended but Havertz set to start

CHELSEA host Atletico Madrid in the Champions League with a one goal advantage – but have four players out. Olivier Giroud’s acrobatic effort means the Blues welcome the LaLiga leaders on Wednesday night with an away goal to their name.
How Chelsea could line up against Atletico
But Mason Mount and Jorginho got themselves suspended in that match in the Spanish capital.
And Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham are still ruled out injured.
It leaves the ever unpredictable Thomas Tuchel with plenty to think about, with personnel and formation changes possible.
Edouard Mendy, who has conceded only TWO goals under Tuchel, is expected to keep his place in goal.
And with Silva still out, skipper Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger should make up the back three.
Mateo Kovacic was rested in Chelsea’s recent 0-0 draw at Leeds, and the Croatian will replace Jorginho next to N’Golo Kante.
Ben Chilwell started at Elland Road, so emerges as a favourite to keep his spot at left wing-back, but being replaced by Marcos Alonso would be no shock.
On the other side, Christian Pulisic was a surprise choice as right wing-back at Leeds, but in the second-half Chelsea switched to a back four.
CHELTENHAM SPECIAL OFFER: GET CHACUN POUR SOI AT 50/1 IN THE CHAMPION CHASE

It would suggest Pulisic will not retain his spot, and his replacement, Reece James, could find himself playing from the off against Atletico.
But Tuchel has also trusted Callum Hudson-Odoi there, with the Englishman starting the first leg at wingback.
Going forward, Chelsea have rotated from a front three, to a pair of false No9s with a No10 sat just in front.
Tuchel confirms Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham are still out. #CFC #UCL— Nizaar Kinsella (@NizaarKinsella) March 16, 2021

With Mount out, Tuchel is more likely to play a three-man attack, with two wingers and a striker.
At Leeds, Hakim Ziyech started on the right, with Mount on the left and Kai Havertz up front.
Tuchel has been vocal about Havertz playing deep and centrally, and he had his best game against Everton at Stamford Bridge.
How Chelsea could alternatively line up against Atletico
That night, Werner moved out to the right, with Hudson-Odoi on the left.
It is possible the same trio start against Atletico, but Tuchel has plenty of other options.
Either Havertz or Werner can take the central spot, with Hudson-Odoi, Pulisic and Ziyech contenders to start on the wings.
Equally, Werner has been deployed out wide of late, which would also make room for Giroud to return to the starting 11.
But the Frenchman has been benched for the last three matches.
Switching to a central pair with a No10 could also see Werner and Havertz partner each other.
Or Havertz could play as the No10, with Hudson-Odoi or Pulisic deployed as false No9s, which both have experienced under Tuchel this season.

Chelsea to battle Man Utd for Ilaix Moriba transfer after ‘missing out on Barcelona wonderkid’s signature in 2019’

CHELSEA and Manchester United are both battling for Ilaix Moriba after missing out on the Barcelona wonderkid in 2019, reports say.
Moriba is the latest youngster to burst into Ronald Koeman’s team this season.

The 18-year-old has made six appearances in all competitions and scored his first-ever goal in their 2-0 win against Osasuna this month.
But Moriba came close to joining Pep Guardiola at Man City two years ago when doubts emerged over a new Barca deal.
He ended up staying at the Nou Camp, but according to Sport, Chelsea and United are still tracking the midfielder.
So too are Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, with clubs said to have asked ex-Barca club director Eric Abidal to take Moriba on loan in the past.

City were so close to signing the Spaniard, he had even booked a plane ticket to the Etihad as he searched for his first professional contract.
But at the last minute, his dad Mamady Kourouma cancelled the ticket on the morning of the flight after a breakthrough in contract talks with Barca.
Mamady said: “With Barcelona, the negotiations did not advance.
“We met with Txiki Begiristain [City’s sporting director] and he explained his entire project to us.

“We liked it because they bet a lot on him. A few weeks later we had the tickets to travel to Manchester and sign the contract.
“I cancelled it the morning that we had to go there. I wanted Ilaix to be an example and a reference for the next generations of Barcelona.
“His friends were gone. If he stayed, it was proof Barca was betting on the youth players.
“We managed to reach an agreement where we all came out winning.”
