Tammy Abraham left out of squad for Chelsea’s Champions League final clash with Man City as Tuchel includes TWO keepers

TAMMY ABRAHAM’S future at Chelsea looks bleak after the striker failed to make their Champions League final squad. The striker has fallen well down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel – and this latest blow could signal the end of his time at Stamford Bridge.

The German boss has named two GOALKEEPERS on the bench for the game against Manchester City in Porto ahead of Abraham.
The 23-year-old Londoner was pictured walking around on the pitch ahead of the huge game in Porto.
But that’s as much action as the forward will be getting tonight.
Abraham started the season brilliantly for previous boss Frank Lampard and was first-choice striker.
But injury disrupted his momentum, and after Lampard was sacked and replaced by Tuchel, he has barely had a look in.
Abraham was also left out of Chelsea’s FA Cup final squad – with the Blues going on to lose to Leicester.
This prompted the player’s girlfriend Leah Monroe taking to Instagram to complain about Tuchel’s decision.

She wrote on a story: “How on earth do you make the decision to leave your top goal scorer out of the squad for a final?
“The same person who even scored the goals to actually qualify for this competition?
“It’s not making any sense whatsoever.”
Abraham is Chelsea’s joint-leading scorer in all competitions this season with 12, despite his lack of game time under Tuchel.
He has been linked with a return to Aston Villa where he helped the Midlanders get promoted back to the Premier League.
West Ham could also make a move this summer.

Robin van Persie slams Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel’s treatment of Hakim Ziyech ahead of Champions League final

HAKIM ZIYECH is being wasted by Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, Robin van Persie has claimed. The former striker, 37, has named the playmaker alongside Christian Pulisic and Mateo Kovacic as stars being held back by the Blues.
Hakim Ziyech is set to start Saturday’s final from the benchCredit: Getty
Ziyech’s first season in West London is likely to end with a place on the bench against Manchester City in Saturday’s Champions League final.
Many of his 39 appearances have come as a substitute as neither Tuchel nor predecessor Frank Lampard truly trusted the 28-year-old.
For Van Persie, the ex-Ajax talent is good enough to build the attack around.
He told De Telegraaf: “It is actually a shame that the creativity of players like Ziyech, Pulisic and Kovacic – who I think is a brilliant player – is not being expressed.
“Kovacic is their engine and playmaker. Ziyech also has those qualities higher up the pitch, but he should have a much bigger role in the team.
“He is now constantly searching [for a place in the team], being played in all different positions.

“But surely it can’t be that difficult to give such a creative player a good position, right?
“You can also see it differently, first give Ziyech and Kovacic an important role and then let players like [N’Golo] Kante and other types work around them.”
Van Persie is not the only former Premier League star to criticise Ziyech’s treatment.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPECIAL 30/1 FOR MAN CITY OR 40/1 FOR CHELSEA TO LIFT THE TROPHY

Earlier this month, ex-Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf told Tuchel to play the Morocco international down the right flank, like Riyad Mahrez.
He told ESPN FC: “I’m concerned about Hakim Ziyech. If he plays, why doesn’t [Tuchel] put him on the right?
“Tuchel really has to think that Ziyech has to play on the right side. It’s like Mahrez, he’s a copycat of Mahrez.”

Ederson fires penalty into top corner and shows David de Gea how it’s done as Man City gear up for Chelsea final

MANCHESTER CITY goalkeeper Ederson showed David De Gea how to take a penalty as he practised ahead of the Champions League final. The Brazil international proved he is not only getting ready to defend his goal as City manager Pep Guardiola considers naming him as a penalty taker should it go to a shootout tonight.

The 27-year-old gave it a go during the Citizens’ training in Porto and the results are very promising for the Manchester giants.
One of the former Benfica star’s spot-kicks were filmed and he was shown sending the ball to the top right corner with ease.
Several Champions League finals have been decided on penalties through the years.
Tonight could be no different as Ederson, as well as Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, may have to fire a shot.
This comes after Wednesday’s Europa League final between Manchester United and Villarreal, which was decided during a penalty thriller.
Ederson’s United counterpart De Gea endured a poor display during the shootout as he couldn’t save any of the Yellow Submarine’s 11 spot-kicks.
De Gea was also the only player to miss his penalty, which led to Villarreal’s first-ever European trophy.
According to TNT Sports, Ederson took on 11 penalties in training and converted a whopping ten of them.

The City goalkeeper revealed earlier this week he wanted the crucial fifth penalty.
He said: “I am [on the list to take a penalty].
“I don’t need to train that much, but the fifth one, I’m taking it. The last one, the decisive, I’ll ask for it.”
He added to the Manchester Evening News: “If the final goes to penalties, I’m going to ask to take it because I’m ready for it.
“In training sessions sometimes I practise taking them like if it was a game.
“It’s true that our scoring rate on penalties isn’t the best, we missed some during the season, but the team is ready for any outcome during the game.”

Thomas Tuchel recalls how Dortmund bus blast left him ‘like a robot’ and he can ‘still see nails sticking in the bus’

THOMAS TUCHEL’S journey to a Champions League final is a familiar one but the story behind it is unique. The reasons why Chelsea’s animated German manager can approach such a momentous test of nerve and character with such easy cool are rooted in his past.

Facing Manchester City and all their wealth as underdogs in the biggest club match in the world holds no fear when you have faced death.
Tuchel walked away when three pipe bombs were hurled at the Borussia Dortmund team bus on its way to a Champions League quarter-final in 2017.
The culprit, Sergej Wenergold, driven by a lunatic lust for money, stood to make millions if the share price of the club fell as a result of his barbaric act.
It didn’t. He was caught and Tuchel insists an event that should leave indelible mental scars barely registers in his thoughts just a few years on.
The fact Chelsea’s quirky and charming head coach only drops the jovial tone of his colourful back story momentarily when describing his ordeal, underpins the character of a man comfortable in his own skin.
It is his biggest asset trying to get a handle on life as a Premier League boss at one of its most volatile clubs.
Tuchel, 47, said: “It did not catch me like it caught others, I have to say. Even today I do not feel the danger that we’ve been in.
“I can still see the nails sticking in the bus, I can see the nails sticking around where I sat.

“I heard that the nails went over 50 metres and then into other windows of houses and stuff.
“Hopefully, it will not catch me up some day but I don’t think about it when I go on a bus or through a crowd. And I’m not waiting for it. I don’t want it to come.
“But it was absolutely surreal. I was in court later to meet the guy who admitted to doing it. I even felt sorry for him a little bit.
“I could not even feel anger, like ‘Wow, what could you have done?’.
“My wife constantly tells the story that I went home late, of course. I drove home. I texted her that ‘everything is OK, don’t worry’.
“She was in the stadium, then went home and my manager was there.
“They were quite freaked out and I came home a little bit like a robot, not talking too much about it.
“I was in front of the TV watching Barcelona against Juventus because it was a Champions League night. She was thinking, ‘That’s a bit weird’.
Nail piercings were visible across the bus’ exteriorCredit: EPA
Sergej Wenergold was behind the bizarre money-making plotCredit: EPA
“The biggest impact for me was the next morning when I saw my players and they were waiting for me in my office. That was when I really realised. ‘Wow, this is…’
“Maybe I am hiding it. It’s still there but it did not have the huge impact that you maybe can imagine.”
Just because Tuchel is not worried does not mean he does not care about success.
He was on the losing side in last season’s final — as his Paris Saint- Germain went down 1-0 to Bayern Munich — before accepting the offer to replace Frank Lampard in January.
Standing out from the crowd for his height and modest football talent, an injury forced Tuchel to end his playing career at just 25.
It is this and what followed that shaped the man who will lead out Chelsea in Porto on Saturday night.
Tuchel was a centre-back for SSV Ulm in southern Germany when his knee-cartilage issue struck in 1998.
He said: “I did not have a good insurance policy for my injury, so the money I saved I spent on my rehabilitation because I tried to come back for more than half a year.
“I had to accept it was impossible and started to study economics in Stuttgart as I had no other ideas.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPECIAL 30/1 FOR MAN CITY OR 40/1 FOR CHELSEA TO LIFT THE TROPHY
Falling out of this bubble, with nobody taking care of me, taught me a tough lesson.Thomas Tuchel
“While studying, I wanted to earn some extra money and so went to work in a bar like a normal student.
“First of all I was a glass collector. The next step was serving because I was safe enough with the tray. I was the guy to get them from the bar and take them to people’s tables, either for free or double the price, depending on my mood!
“Maybe after two or two-and-a-half years, I was behind the bar. Maybe not looking like Tom Cruise — but I felt like Tom Cruise.
“It taught me a lot. Until then I was this kid who was a bit better than the other kids, so you end up going to Augsburg, a bit of a bigger club, and you’re a little bit famous.
“Then you play maybe for the Under-18s of Germany and you have some days off school.
“Then become professional in the second division and I was living in this bubble. I got a lot of attention, a lot of positive feedback, a lot of my self-confidence from all that.
“Falling out of this bubble, with nobody taking care of me, taught me a tough lesson.
Thomas Tuchel is preparing for his second Champions League final in a rowCredit: AFP
“Overcoming my pride to go into a bar — because now we can talk and laugh about it — but taking the first step to admitting I needed some extra money and to step out there and to go into ten or 12 cafes and bars to ask, ‘Do you need help?’.
“There was some pride to swallow but it was good.”
Those years in Stuttgart’s grungy Radio Bar, where they sell skateboards in the basement, will keep Tuchel grounded.
He barely drinks having worked so closely with alcohol.

Should Chelsea win in Porto, Tuchel will be the tall bloke sipping on a small G&T at the party.
He said: “People say, ‘Yeah I will get drunk,’ because that is easy, two gin and tonics and that’s it.

Man City supporter moons camera as police separate boozy fans ahead of Champions League final against Chelsea

CHELSEA and Manchester City fans guzzled down beers in the Porto sunshine today ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final. The final was moved from Istanbul, with the Turkish city in stricter lockdown conditions and on the UK government’s travel red list.

So it was the bars and pubs of Porto that took the Brits’ hard-earned cash.
With the walls covered with flags from both teams, shirtless fans chanted as they wolfed down free-flowing booze.
One supporter made sure there was a proper Blue Moon on show, by baring his bum to the crowd of revellers.
Another was hoisted onto his pal’s shoulders while waving what appeared to be an England shirt above his head.
His mate wasn’t deterred from necking his pint however.
Unsurprisingly the phones were out to grab that precious selfie ahead of the biggest game of the European calendar.
Up to 16,500 fans will be admitted to tomorrow’s big game, with each side allocated 6,000 tickets – with around 2,000 going to Uefa delegates and sponsors – and the rest sold to regular punters in Portugal.

Unfortunately, there were ugly scenes later in the evening mirroring the bloody violence that marred the Portuguese city for the last two nights.
Football fans were injured after clashing with riot police – but the day after it was more of a party atmosphere in 25 degree heat.
Riot police had to disperse brawling English football fans after a second night of violence on Thursday as staff closed pubs and bars due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Chelsea and Tottenham in Jonas Hofmann transfer fight as 28-year-old continues to star at Borussia Monchengladbach

JONAS HOFMANN could become the latest transfer target fought over between Chelsea and Tottenham. The Premier League clubs are both linked with the Borussia Monchengladbach winger ahead of the summer transfer market opening.

According to German outlet Kicker, the 28-year-old is interesting LaLiga clubs as well as Tottenham and Chelsea.
The Blues were reportedly growing their interest in Hofmann in the spring, with rumours pointing towards a £14million price tag.
Thomas Tuchel coached the player at Borussia Dortmund but sold him to Gladbach midway through the 2015-16 season.
Since then, he has continued to impress in the Bundesliga and has reportedly been scouted several times by Spurs in recent months.
Hofmann has bagged eight goals and 13 assists this season despite Borussia’s inconsistent form.
Despite making it out of a tough Champions League group, knocking out Inter Milan in the process, the side finished eighth in the domestic table to miss out on European qualification.
Therefore a sale is said to be on the cards with the English duo tipped to outbid any Spanish rivals for his signature.
Hofmann’s contract runs to 2023 with no release clause to fall back on.

Earlier this year, the German insisted any interest in his services was a compliment to his form.
He told Ruhr Nachrichten in March: “I think it’s clear that other clubs will notice you if you perform well. Therefore, it is possible that one or the other has already asked.”
Chelsea and Spurs have gone head to head for a number of transfer targets in the past, most notably over Brazilian winger Willian, who even underwent a medical in North London before signing for the Blues.
