Newcastle ‘ask Chelsea about double loan transfer swoop for Tammy Abraham and Billy Gilmour’

NEWCASTLE have reportedly enquired about taking Tammy Abraham and Billy Gilmour on loan from Chelsea. The Blues are set for a big summer of spending which could see their young talent left out in the cold.
Tammy Abraham is set to be put up for sale by Thomas TuchelCredit: Getty
According to Northern Echo, contact has already been made between the clubs as the Toon outline their intentions.
Chelsea are described as not yet willing to sanction a loan move while they formulate their summer plans – but that situation could change.
The duo have combined for only nine league appearances under Thomas Tuchel with Abraham in particular struggling for game time.
Hauled off at half-time of both his Premier League starts under the German, he did not even make the bench for Saturday’s Champions League final victory over Manchester City.
The striker’s girlfriend launched into an online tirade against Tuchel following a similar axe in the FA Cup final and Abraham is reportedly available for a permanent sale.
Aston Villa and West Ham have also been named in reports with the 23-year-old valued at £40million.
Meanwhile, Gilmour was largely left out by Tuchel until Chelsea’s busy run-in.
Both players will be assessed by the manager as he begins an expensive summer in the transfer market.

Also potentially up for sale to fund the spree are Kepa Arrizabalaga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
As much as £150m could be splashed on new signings with Romelu Lukaku and Erling Haaland on their radar.
Harry Kane is also being eyed with reports suggesting Abraham and goalkeeper Arrizabalaga could be offered in an audacious players-plus-cash deal.

Inside Chelsea’s Wags Champions League celebrations with Thiago Silva’s wife on the pitch and Izabel Kovacic’s lucky hat

CHELSEA’s stars secured a memorable Champions League win for the West London club. And then partied through the night in Porto, after beating Manchester City 1-0 in epic night for Thomas Tuchel’s men.

Some of the heroes were joined by their other halves in Portugal – who looked like they were enjoying the party.
From one Brazilian beauty running on the Estádio do Dragão pitch to another cuddling up next to the trophy, these stunners had their own celebrations too.
    SILVA LINING
Although her beau was taken off injured, that didn’t stop outspoken Isabelle da Silva from getting onto the sacred turf of Porto’s den.
The defender’s wife was delighted by the success, running onto the pitch with son Isago and shouting at the top of the lungs in her native Portuguese.
Dressed in full Chelsea top, Isabelle let out a few “whoops” as she sprinted across the halfway line, while filming herself.
She also enjoyed a loving moment with Thiago – calling him a champion as he gave her a kiss on the side of her head.

    LUCKY HAT
Footy fan Izabel Kovacic is always supporting her man, Mateo.
Her midfield husband didn’t start, but did make an appearance as a second half substitute.
And the gorgeous model made sure she brought her lucky hat – branded with her children’s brand Lunilou Studios – for the occasion.
Izabel also draped her hat on the arm of the silverware captioning a photo of Mateo holding it: “My lucky charm.”

    PARTY ON THE PITCH
Even Thomas Tuchel couldn’t help but share Chelsea’s magical moment with his wife Sissi and their kids, Emma and Kim on the pitch at the final whistle.
And the gaffer wasn’t the only one who wanted to celebrate with their beloved.
The usually private Kai Havertz was joined by beautiful girlfriend Sophia Weber.
Timo Werner and Julia Nagler smiled happily as they held the Champions League trophy.
Captain fantastic Cesar Azpilicueta grabbed a kiss with his wife Adriana Guerendiain.
Jennifer Giroud also got in on the act for a photo with the Champions League trophy and her family.

    THE AFTER PARTY
The celebrations appeared to continue through the night and even on the team’s plane back to London.
Willy Caballero and his wife Lucia enjoyed a moment together at the team’s hotel.

While at some point in the evening, Katrine Friis teamed up with Izabel Kovacic and their partners for a photo op together.
The next day, Azpilicueta might’ve been forgiven for trading his wife for a morning coffee on his hotel room balcony with the trophy sat next to him.
But these Wags certainly knew how to have a good time.

Cesar Azpilicueta already targeting Chelsea’s next silverware as hero captain flies back with Champions League trophy

He had to wait almost a decade to lift the jug-eared trophy himself which he did as skipper on Saturday following a 1-0 win over Manchester City.
Azpilicueta is now off to the Euros with Spain hoping to win his first major international tournament – before returning to Stamford Bridge aiming to build on the triumph in Porto.
The 31-year-old said: “When you play for a club like Chelsea, you always think about the future.
“That’s done, we are very happy, we will celebrate, we are champions of Europe again after nine years, second time in our history.
“But football is like this, the ones who go to the Euros get a new challenge ahead of us, we will come back in the Premier League, we didn’t finish where we wanted to finish and we want to fight for everything.
“At Chelsea, I always learned that we go for every single game, fight for every single trophy and I’m pleased that I could get my hands on the trophy that I missed before.
“We will celebrate this, for a few days, the whole summer for the ones who don’t have the Euros!
“But that’s gone, we are part of the history of Chelsea and then we will go for the next challenge.”

Kai Havertz’ 42nd-minute winner was enough to see off Pep Guardiola’s lacklustre City, who had surprisingly opted not to play a defensive midfielder.
It was the ultimate team performance from Thomas Tuchel’s team who put their bodies on the line, led by their inspirational skipper.
Chelsea’s season looked to be collapsing in January when Frank Lampard was sacked.
But successor Tuchel managed something remarkable with this victory, along with a top-four spot and an FA Cup final appearance.
Azpilicueta added: “It’s been a difficult, tough season, we ended it in the best way possible. It was well deserved.
“I want to make sure the whole group felt involved, there were only a few of us lucky enough to be on the pitch but the preparation from everybody, the staff, was amazing and I think made the difference.
“Everyone left their ego, they helped the team and that’s the biggest thing for me with the guys up front, Timo (Werner), Kai and Christian (Pulisic) and the work they did for the team was incredible.”

Chelsea are the Champions League winners after beating Manchester City 1-0
Man-of-the-match N’Golo Kante epitomised that selflessness with another omnipresent display.
The quiet Frenchman is now arguably the greatest holding midfielder in Premier League history, having won the competition twice with two different clubs, the FA Cup, the Europa League, the World Cup with France and now the Champions League.
Speaking of his ‘humble’ team-mate, Azpilicueta added: “He does everything with the energy he brings.
“I don’t know how many ball recoveries he had, the way he dragged the ball forward, covered so much ground. It’s special to have him.
“When we didn’t have him, we missed him but of course as well after winning the World Cup, the Champions League, he is still so humble as a person.
“I’m so happy for him because he’s a massive part of this team and after a few years, I’m very happy to have him next to me.”

Chelsea needed to emulate fight and spirit of 2012 Champions League win… and did it without question against Man City

BEFORE the game kicked off in Porto last night, the biggest match that some of these players will ever play in, I was scouting the pitch to see which Chelsea players were going to stand up and be counted. We needed to emulate our underdog story from 2012 if we were going to repeat the triumph against Manchester City on Saturday night.
Chelsea won their second Champions League crown on SaturdayCredit: Reuters
We needed a Didier Drogba, we needed a Gary Cahill, we needed a Frank Lampard, we needed a John Obi Mikel, and we needed a Ryan Bertrand.
But in a season that has been largely inconsistent for Chelsea, it was hard to see where the heroes would come from.
It was hard to see the leaders on the pitch, the guys who would pull us over the line and pull off the impossible task of beating Manchester City three times in a row in the space of just a couple of months.
Kai Havertz was first to step up and announce himself as Chelsea’s Drogba, playing well all game and grabbing the decisive goal in the first-half that would prove to be all Chelsea needed to win the match.
He stepped up under pressure, kept his composure and scored the goal one-on-one with Ederson.
This was the first sign that these Chelsea players were up for this, and they were not about to fold under the pressure.
Truth be told, we had leaders all over the pitch last night with the likes of Jorginho, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, Edouard Mendy, Reece James, and Mason Mount, and they will ALL go down as absolute Chelsea heroes now just as the lads from 2012 did.
Bertrand in 2012 wasn’t even a regular starter for Chelsea that season, but he was bought in to play left midfield to give Chelsea that defensive solidity.
Frank Lampard led Chelsea to glory in 2012 and played a part this time aroundCredit: Reuters
The Blues needed to repeat Didier Drogba and Co’s heroics in PortoCredit: Reuters
He went on to play the game of his life and was a big reason we managed to get the win against Bayern Munich that night.
Ben Chilwell was our Ryan Bertrand last night, he was absolutely colossal going up and down that left flank.
Although he has had a decent season overall, there were moments and some poor form where you thought he could lose his regular spot to Marcos Alonso. But now he’s a Champions League winner.
But perhaps one of Chelsea’s unsung heroes from 2012 and a player that might have been underrated by some, was Cahill.
As a defender, as a true centre back, Cahill was always your guy.
And on that night in Munich, he literally spilt blood, sweat, and tears and defended his heart out to ensure that Chelsea won the match, he was making tackles and vital blocks all game.
Chelsea’s Cahill could have been any one of the backline last night, but Rudiger literally busting a gut to block a shot that was destined for the back of the net and would have put Manchester City back in the game, made him our Cahill on the night, and these are the type of blocks that win you trophies.

Lampard played a massive part in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph this season by leading them out of the group stages and progressing in the knockout stages.
Everyone will commend and remember his part in this.
But he was also one of the heroes of 2012 in a playing capacity, again running everywhere and helping Chelsea try and keep the ball as much as they could, and also creating up the pitch.
Who else was going to step up as Chelsea’s modern-day Lampard last night than Mount?
He was insane, and it was his unreal through pass that put Havertz in to score the goal.
How about the heartbeat of Chelsea’s team? The guy doing all the dirty work that may go unnoticed by some?
In 2012, that was absolutely Mikel. Last night it was N’Golo Kante.
He always puts in a shift, but somehow last night he managed to not only play like there were two of him on the pitch, but he played like there were three.
The Manchester City players were constantly robbed of possession by a player who must surely be in for a shout of Ballon D’or now?

Mason Mount also put in a stunning display versus Manchester CityCredit: Reuters

To sum up, Chelsea went in as the underdogs all through this competition, just as they did in 2012.
They also changed managers halfway through the season, just as they did in 2012.
And to win it as they did in 2012, they were going to have to do their best Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Gary Cahill, Ryan Bertrand, and John Obi Mikel impressions, and they absolutely did that – plus so much more.
These guys will be the new Chelsea heroes for life, the class of 2021 joins the class of 2012.

Watch as Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger is helped up by ref before smoothly being handed yellow leaving fans in hysterics

SPANISH referee Mateu Lahoz pulled off a neat one-two with Antonio Rudiger during Saturday’s Champions League final.A slick piece of officiating saw the 44-year-old help up the Chelsea star while casually dishing out a yellow card.

On 57 minutes, Blues ace Rudiger clattered into Kevin De Bruyne, forcing the Manchester City midfielder out of the game and possibly the Euros.
It earned him a booking but only after he received treatment for a knock picked up in the collision.
LaLiga official Lahoz calmly waited for the German to be seen to while holding the card.
And he helped Rudiger to his feet while showing the yellow in one swift, satisfying movement.
Fans were left chuckling by the display, Twitter fan Gaz writing: “Mike Dean could only dream of this.”
Another commented: “Incredible mechanics and leverage technique.”
While Michael tweeted: “It was a GOAT performance.”
It capped a widely-praised performance from Lahoz, who has attracted criticism for his decision making in the past.

A penalty shout went against City during the 1-0 defeat as Reece James was judged not to have illegally handled the ball in his area.
Speaking before the game, Lahoz stated: “Honestly, I never really imagined that, one day, I would referee a Champions League final.
“Refereeing is happiness for me. And I think the key to being a referee is to always be yourself.
“When you referee a match, you’re taking charge of many different personalities. You’re part of the game, and I think that part of your job is trying to help the players and coaches.
“If you can do this and be relaxed, then you’ll relax them, you can communicate together, and making decisions can be much easier.”

Thiago Silva says winning Champions League with Chelsea is ‘most important moment’ of his career

THIAGO SILVA was able to revel in Chelsea’s Champions League glory despite a cruel injury blow that took him out of the final.A first-half groin injury on Saturday night threatened to deliver a second consecutive year of heartbreak for the 36-year-old.
Thiago Silva was able to taste Champions League glory after an injuryCredit: Getty
But Kai Havertz’s goal meant he was able to finally add the competition to his extensive trophy cabinet.
Silva told RMC: “It’s the most important moment of my career, it’s unforgettable.
“But it’s also a moment for recognition of everything Paris has done for me, but we failed to win it.
“I’m very happy, and I hope that Paris will be able to get here soon.”
Last season saw the Brazilian end a hugely successful stint with Paris Saint-Germain by losing the Champions League final to Bayern Munich.
And he admitted to feeling something of a scapegoat after the French side’s failures in the competition.
He added: “Every time PSG were eliminated, people tried to find a culprit and it was always me.
    “It’s a shame, I really gave everything.”

Tuchel changed everything. But it’s also important to talk about Lampard. Thiago Silva

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was in charge of PSG for the 2020 final and reunited with Silva in West London.
But it was Frank Lampard who brought the centre-back to Stamford Bridge and the club legend came in for special praise after the victory.
Silva noted: “We do not always understand everything that is happening, but it is written by God.
“Tuchel changed everything, the team mentality. But it’s also important to talk about Lampard.
“Without him, winning here would have been difficult, thanks to him for letting me sign here.”

Man City 0 Chelsea 1: Havertz earns Tuchel stunning Champions League crown as tinkering Guardiola gets it wrong again

SOMETIMES there is a lot to be said for conventional wisdom – sometimes there is glory to be found in the bleeding obvious.Thomas Tuchel sent out a well-balanced, well-drilled, football team and saw Chelsea deservedly crowned champions of Europe.

Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, crossed that precarious line between genius and insanity and decided that a Champions League Final was the right time to conduct one of his mad-professor experiments.
Manchester City’s great alchemist ended up concocting only a stink-bomb as a City team without a defensive midfielder or a striker was thoroughly out-played.
Tuchel has now defeated City three times in six weeks, in three different competitions.
And this victory – secured by a Kai Havertz strike after a masterful Mason Mount through-ball had exploited the glaring weakness in Guardiola’s – was the most significant of the German’s career.
What an impact Tuchel has had since replacing Frank Lampard in January.
And what a performance this was from Chelsea – there were heroic displays from Havertz, Mount, the hyperactive N’Golo Kante, the granite Toni Rudiger and two outstanding English full-backs, Reece James and Ben Chilwell.
James will have to empty out Raheem Sterling from his pocket before the pair meet up for England duty next week.
But Chelsea’s second European Cup came courtesy of a serious assist from Guardiola.

Pep Guardiola’s wait for a Champions League trophy goes onCredit: AFP

The Catalan has been accused of over-thinking his line-ups so often in Champions League knock-out matches that there was an element of sheer bloodymindedness in his refusal to start with either Fernandinho or Rodri in midfield.
His ‘false nine’ ploy has often been successful for Guardiola but not here – Kevin De Bruyne looking lost before he was forced off through injury early in the second half.
Guardiola was brought to the Etihad to conquer Europe and despite all his outstanding achievements in other competitions, he has fallen short again.
City failed to ask a serious save of keeper Edouard Mendy.

Perhaps Harry Kane will arrive and prove to be the missing link – but this defeat is going to sting like hell because Guardiola will know how culpable he was.
This was a Champions League Final which seemed inevitable since the Abu Dhabi takeover of 2008, which blew Roman Abramovich out of the water financially – the Chelsea owner having overpowered the rest of English football five years earlier.
Uefa did not want City to be here – they were banned from this year’s competition, and next, for financial chicanery but their punishment was overturned on appeal.
Then came the saga of the breakaway European Super League which threatened to wipe out this grand old competition – Chelsea and City both joining up, attempting to shut out the non-elite clubs just as the old elite once wished to keep them out.
Yet for all the billions and all the politics, this promised to be a football match to savour.
Guardiola had sprung one of his customary big-match surprises – not only was there no specialist centre forward but no genuine holding midfielder either.
The City boss loves little creative players – and so he picked five of them to start here, with his leading scorer, Ilkay Gundogan, employed as anchorman.

Porto’s Estadio do Dragao was a late stand-in for Istanbul, allowing 14,100 to attend – including 6,000 fans of each club who had been taking full advantage of the chance to drink in the sunshine.
City’s supporters booed the Champions League anthem – a welcome return to normality.
And before the smog from the pre-match fireworks had fully cleared, Ederson was pinging a 70-yard pass on to the toes of Sterling, who was eventually robbed by James – a theme for the evening.
But City were soon back-pedalling wildly as Chelsea attacked with speed and conviction – there were slips from John Stones and misses from Timo Werner – who then shot straight at Ederson when he might have scored.
Manchester City ace Kevin De Bruyne was in tears after coming off with a head injury
De Bruyne was inconsolable as he made his way down the tunnelCredit: Getty
It felt as if Tuchel’s men had been heartened by Guardiola’s left-field selection and were intent on punishing it.
There was a saving tackle from Rudiger to deny Phil Foden and Thiago Silva limped off before half-time, replaced by Andreas Christensen.
But when Chelsea took the lead two minutes before the break, it was fully merited.
Chilwell fed Mount and his diagonal pass embarrassed City, locating the gap between Ruben Dias and Oleksandr Zinchenko, and sending Havetrtz clean through.
Ederson rushed out of his goal like a man fleeing a chip-pan fire but Havertz rolled it around him, steadied himself and tucked into an empty net.
It has taken time for Havertz to settle but this is a footballer to cherish and that was likely to be the first of many telling contributions to A-list occasions.
De Bruyne limped early in the second half after a heavy challenge from Rudiger – Gabriel Jesus on in his place.
Immediately, City were appealing for a penalty, believing Sterling’s shot had struck James on the arm – but ref Antonio Mateu Lahoz, and his VAR, were having none of it.
Fernandinho then replaced Bernardo Silva as Guardiola reverted to convention – and Jesus was soon causing problems which Chelsea’s three-man central defence had not experienced in the opening hour.
But Havertz soon sprinted clear and fed sub Christian Pulisic, who rolled his effort agonisingly wide, Tuchel performing histrionics on the touchline.
But after Riyad Mahrez went close deep in injury-time, the German was dancing with delight – and Guardiola was left scratching that overactive head of his.

Timo Werner completely misses his kick and wastes golden chance to hand Chelsea the lead as poor form continues

CHELSEA striker Timo Werner’s struggles in front of goal continued when he spurned a glorious chance to put his side into an early lead against Manchester City.Just nine minutes into the Champions League final the German was set up by Kai Havertz just eight yards out.
Timo Werner spurned a glorious early opportunity against Manchester City
The ball ran under the German’s foot and away
But Werner completely missed the ball as he swung a leg forward.
Then just six minutes later the 25-year-old German was teed up by Mason Mount around the same distance out.
But he tamely fired the ball straight at City keeper Ederson.
The forward was also lambasted for blazing an effort over the bar in a warm-up on the pitch on Friday night.
He played a one-two with a member of the Chelsea coaching staff before thumping his wild effort miles over the crossbar.
The footage sparked worry among Chelsea supporters, but they were also able to see the funny side.
One fan said: “We get high bp once a week watching this guy misfiring, What about his fellow teammates they watch him almost every day.”
Another added: “Premier League offside player of de year dat.”
