Chelsea target Jules Kounde was a sore loser as a kid, who kicked his mum and had to see a doctor about his temper

CHELSEA target Jules Kounde was such a bad loser as a child, he’d often kick his mum in a fit of rage if his team lost. The French defender is tipped to join the Blues this summer in a £70million deal.

The 22-year-old established himself as one of LaLiga’s best young defenders last campaign – starring for Sevilla and helping the club qualify for this season’s Champions League.
Kounde grew up with his mother in Landiras, a small village about 40 minutes from Bordeaux.
Football was his passion, but often it would leave the young boy in a rage if he lost.
He would take his bad mood out on his mum, kicking her in the legs as his blood boiled.
It got so bad, his mum was forced to see a doctor to get advice on how to handle her son.
    PROBLEM CHILD
When he was just nine, Kounde played for a local side in Landiras.
However, the young boy soon got frustrated when they failed to win games and lost his temper.
Soon, he was taking it out on mum.
“When I started playing football in my village, we were playing at a very low level. And we had a bad team, we often lost,” he revealed in an interview with Onze Mundial.

“I couldn’t stand losing, it was driving me crazy. I had a period when I was eight or nine years old when I was terrible with my mother.”
It got so bad, Kounde changed clubs. But not before he regretfully kicked out at his mum.
He said: “I remember kicking my mother’s legs. When I came home from games, I got pissed off and did some awkward stuff. This period lasted a little while.”
Not sure who to turn to, Kounde’s mother went to see a doctor.
Kounde continued: “My mother went to see someone for advice, because she couldn’t handle me on this point.
“The shrink had said to her: “Do the same thing, if he kicks you, kick him, like that, he will calm down”. Over time, everything went back to normal.”
    RESPECT
Kounde’s behavioural difficulties reared their ugly head at school, although he knew he couldn’t disappoint his mother who valued education.
“In school I was a good student, but I didn’t like to be questioned on things I didn’t do well in,” he said.
“I had very good grades, but sometimes with borderline behaviour.

“There were times I came into conflict with some teachers. But it never affected me because I passed my exams.
“I only went to school for my mum who didn’t want me to quit.”
In 2013, Kounde was recruited by six-times Ligue 1 champions Bordeaux.
But his journey to the academy was tough, not being selected two years earlier and missing the final round of trials with an injury when his time came.
But Kounde was fortunate to be spotted by ex-France international Yannick Stopyra, part of the squad that finished third at the World Cup in 1986.
Speaking about his former protege, he revealed: “You won’t find anyone to speak ill of him. Discreet, kind, always positive: it is unanimous in Bordeaux.”
    BREAKTHROUGH
Stopyra recognised the teenager’s talents and offered him a one-year deal with the club.
Soon, he became one of the academy’s stand-out players. He captained the U19 team to a youth league title.
His performances were enough convince former manager Jocelyn Gourvennec to give Kounde his debut against Troyes in 2018.

Ironically, it was an ex-Chelsea legend who continued to aid the centre back’s development.
After Gourvennec was fired, Gus Poyet was brought in to steady the ship and he gave the young talent a run in the first team.
With Kounde marshalling the back four in 18 appearances, Bordeaux finished a credible sixth and qualified for the Europa League.
It was clear his future belonged on an even bigger stage.
    TO SEVILLA
On a personal level, Kounde had a great season the following year – appearing 51 times for the club.
But with Bordeaux finishing a disappointing 14th place, their stars were there to be picked up by bigger clubs.
It was Sevilla who won the race to buy him – paying a staggering £21million for his services in 2019.
“When I left Bordeaux, it was a well-considered choice,” Kounde said.

“Sevilla was the perfect club to take a step forward. And then, I felt that LaLiga was more serious than Ligue 1… It was the right time for me.”
Quickly, Kounde established himself with his new side – finishing fourth in the league and helping the team earn Champions League qualification.
However, it was in 2020 when he would win his first major piece of silverware.
Beating the likes of Roma, Wolves, and Manchester United, Sevilla reached the Europa League final.
There, recorded a famous 3-2 win over Inter Milan.
    HE’S AMBITIOUS
Kounde was part of the French squad that gave a poor display at the Euros this summer.
But he won’t let that deter him from his next plan. Back in May, he laid his intentions bare.
“I will perhaps have to change clubs this summer,” he said.
This summer Kounde was part of the French team that flopped at the EurosCredit: Getty

“But nothing has been finalised yet, I have not decided anything. My goal is to play at a big club to try to always progress and to win trophies.”
With Chelsea on hot pursuit, Kounde could potentially join the European champions.
With him in their side, the Blues and Thomas Tuchel could have found the missing piece in the jigsaw for a Premier League-winning side.

Romelu Lukaku has unfinished business at Chelsea… but this time he’s got experience on his side

AS CHELSEA fans, many of us grew used to watching us play last season with a lack of finesse. We always had the feeling that if we could finish our chances we could have been up there challenging for the Premier League title.
Romelu Lukaku is on the verge of rejoining Chelsea from Inter MilanCredit: Getty
The striker failed to make an impact during his previous stint at Stamford BridgeCredit: Getty
While there were other small problems and the sacking of a manager midway through the season, the foundations you felt were always there and with a new breed of exciting young talent coming through the ranks and being signed up, there was a real feeling of something special happening at our club.
Thomas Tuchel came in and added his tactical genius to proceedings and pushed us on even more, but that feeling of not having that one or two players who were absolute marksmen in front of goal, continued to grate on us.
Timo Werner’s contribution play and use of space is undefeated, but he didn’t provide that decisive ability to finish off chances in the box, and this summer we all knew that would be the priority for the club and for Tuchel.
    NEED A GUNMAN
We needed a gunman, we needed a proven goalscorer, we needed someone who we knew would hit the ground running straight away and instantly add a world class element to the end of our attack.
That man looks like it will be Romelu Lukaku, who is seemingly just a medical and final signing off away from returning to Chelsea, the club where he failed to make an impact at back in 2014.
We all had big expectations when Lukaku came in 2011, he was dubbed the ‘next Didier Drogba’, his heir to the throne, and he was being talked about as being one of the best up and coming strikers in the world.
But Lukaku had a lack of chances at Chelsea and the ones he did get he didn’t take, and the club ended up selling him to Everton in 2014 and the fairytale story was over.
Except it wasn’t, and in fact, it was just the end of a chapter.
It is now 2021 and Lukaku is about to write a new chapter in his Chelsea career and finish his story with us.
    COMING OF AGE
This time Lukaku is no longer a boy, he is returning as a man, and as a proven world class striker.
There is absolutely a case of unfinished business, but this time Lukaku is ready.
Not only does he bring experience and influence now, he has proven himself to be a world class striker and one of the best in the world.
When Chelsea were chasing strikers of that calibre, there were very few options, and that says it all about exactly where Lukaku is right now in his career, he’s one of the best around.
A 28-year old Lukaku doesn’t have anything to prove as such, but we know that he will be busting a gut and using his strong mentality to make sure that he doesn’t flop the second time around, and he comes back to the club that he loves so much and makes sure he comes back as a winner, and comes back to help Chelsea win trophies.
    MAKING THE DIFFERENCE
When Chelsea won the Champions League in 2012 Lukaku was part of the squad.
But he didn’t want to celebrate or be pictured with the trophy, because he felt he hadn’t earned that right as he had not featured.
But there isn’t one person out there right now who would be brave enough to bet against Lukaku holding that same trophy up in a Chelsea kit at the end of this season after scoring the winner…. THAT is the belief he will have, and that will be his goal coming back here.
I genuinely believe that Lukaku arriving can be the difference to Chelsea finishing in third or fourth in the league this season, to genuinely being a challenger for the Premier League title.
Many say he flopped at Manchester United, and he certainly suffered poor form at times, but even so, Lukaku scored 27 goals in his first season for them, and 15 goals in his second.

That is 42 goals in 96 appearances for United – and that’s nothing to turn your nose up at.
Also, he has got at least two more years of experience up his sleeve since then, and he would have matured even more.
At 28, Chelsea are getting Lukaku in his prime, and they are getting a colossal all round striker who will not just score goals and be a finisher in the box, he will bring experience, influence, and an all round contribution on the pitch that will improve the Blues in an instant.

Didier Drogba ‘confirms’ Romelu Lukaku’s Chelsea transfer with ‘he’s coming home’ post

The Belgium forward, 28, is expected to sign a deal with the Champions League winners, after the Premier League giants and his club Inter Milan agreed a £97.5million fee.
And Drogba, who has worked as a club ambassador at Stamford Bridge for sponsors Yokohama, has seemingly let the cat out of the bag before an announcement with a revealing tweet.
“He’s coming home @RomeluLukaku9@ChelseaFC,” Drogba wrote as a caption for a mock-up image of the centre forward in a Chelsea shirt.
According to reports, Lukaku will have a medical on Sunday before inking a contract.
It has been claimed he has been offered a five-year contract worth £195,000-per-week.
Just a few days ago, Thiago Silva liked an Instagram post hinting at Romelu Lukaku’s move to Chelsea.
A fan account called Chelsea Pulse posted a series of images comparing Frank Lampard’s responses to questions about potentially signing Kai Havertz last summer, with Thomas Tuchel’s answer about Lukaku this.
Lampard had smiled and said: “I’m not talking about Kai Havertz.”
While Tuchel replied to a question about Lukaku, also with a grin: “I will not talk about players who don’t play in my squad.”

Chelsea ‘set to complete £95m Lukaku transfer in next 24 hours and will make him top earner on more than £350k a week’

CHELSEA reportedly expect to wrap up the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan within the next 24 hours. And the Blues will make the 28-year-old their highest-paid player as they close in on securing the Belgium international’s services.
Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku is believed to be keen to return to Chelsea this summerCredit: Getty
Thomas Tuchel’s side have failed with two attempts to sign the ex-Manchester United ace, most recently having an £85MILLION bid rejected that included defender Marcos Alonso.
But Lukaku, who was sold by the Blues in 2014 to Everton after just 15 games in three years, has told Inter he wants to return to Stamford Bridge.
Inter boss Simone Inzaghi is furious with the club’s owners for their decision to sell Lukaku, who spearheaded the Nerazzurri to the Scudetto title last term.
According to the Daily Mail, the Blues believe they will agree a £95million deal with Inter to sign Lukaku in the next 24 hours.
They state that the Italian outfit set the West Londoners a deadline of Sunday to bring Lukaku back to the Premier League.
And they have claimed that Chelsea will make the centre-forward their highest-paid player where he will earn a basic salary of £350,00-a-week.
German playmaker Kai Havertz is currently the top earner at Chelsea following his move from Bayer Leverkusen last year.
He pockets £310k-a-week, with his compatriot Timo Werner on £270k-a-week followed by Ben Chilwell who takes home £190k-a-week.

Tuchel admitted after the 2-2 pre-season draw against Tottenham earlier this week that he wants a striker of Lukaku’s profile.
Asked if the Inter ace is a target, he said: “I will not talk about players who don’t play in my squad.
“He is a fantastic player but a player from Inter and with all due respect I will not talk about him.
“I think with the exit from Olivier Giroud from the type of players we could use, a player used to playing with their backs to goal, whose strength is to keep possession from long balls.
“So we can add this direct style of play to our portfolio and this is the characteristic of player that is not Tammy [Abraham], Timo [Werner] or Kai [Havertz].
“So this is a profile we don’t have in the squad and could be useful, but not for any cost and not hectic or in panic as no matter what happens we will be competitive and have trust in our guys.”

Inter Milan boss Inzaghi ‘furious’ over Romelu Lukaku’s Chelsea transfer after being ‘forced’ to sell by club owners

ROMELU LUKAKU’S potential £100million switch back to Chelsea has reportedly infuriated Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi. The 28-year-old striker, who failed to score in any of his 15 games for the Blues between 2011-2014, is believed to be keen to return to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi is furious that Romelu Lukaku is being sold to ChelseaCredit: Getty
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, his impending move is said to have left new Inter boss Inzaghi furious.
And Inzaghi is not alone as directors Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin all considering their future at Inter.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have failed with two attempts to sign the Belgium international, most recently having an £85MILLION bid rejected that included defender Marcos Alonso.
But it is understood that Inter are ready to accept a £100m offer from the Champions League holders, with Lukaku to earn around £12.8m-a-year.
And Chelsea are aiming to secure his services within the next 48 hours as they aim for him to be available for the Uefa Super Cup tie against Villarreal next Wednesday.
Inzaghi’s anger is towards Inter’s owners – Suning and the Zhang family – who have forced the Nerazzurri’s directors to sell Lukaku.
The owners are desperate to to cut the wage bill by 20 per cent, with Achraf Hakimi’s sale to Paris Saint-Germain not enough to balance the books.
Inzaghi is said to have been ensured that only Hakimi would be sold this transfer window, not his star striker who spearheaded Inter to the Scudetto title last term.

Lukaku may not be the only high-profile departure this summer, with Arsenal target Lautaro Martinez linked with a move away.
The Gunners are on the hunt for a new striker with Alexandre Lacazette’s contract expiring next summer.
And with Inter known to be interested in Hector Bellerin, it remains to be seen if the Spanish right-back could be used in any deal.

Willian jokingly told Thiago Silva he would have STAYED at Chelsea and snubbed Arsenal transfer for him

ARSENAL flop Willian jokingly told Thiago Silva he would have stayed at Chelsea had he known the defender was joining, according to reports. The Brazilian veteran, 36, quit Paris Saint-Germain for the Premier League last summer, with the centre-back helping the Blues win the Champions League.
Thiago Silva joined Chelsea on a free transfer last summer, where he helped them win the Champions LeagueCredit: Getty
His transfer came after international compatriot Willian quit Chelsea for London rivals Arsenal.
Silva had a wealth of options, with former employers AC Milan keen to secure his services, as well as Serie A side Fiorentina.
But a call to Willian helped convinced Silva that the latest challenge of his illustrious career belonged in England’s top-flight.
According to the Telegraph, Willian had jokingly responded: “If I’d known you were moving to Chelsea, I would have stayed there after all.”
Neymar also proved a crucial role in his decision after the two held private talks.
The pair shared a close relationship at PSG, and are also counter-parts in the Brazilian national team.
Neymar reportedly told Silva that it was a challenge he would regret not taking had he turned down a move.
He spent eight seasons at PSG but was ‘immediately attracted’ by the prospect of joining the Blues.

And after helping the West Londoners win their second European Cup, Silva claimed the trophy is the ‘most important’ of his career.
He had endured heartbreak with PSG in the 2020 Champions League final after Bayern Munich edged out a 1-0 win.
But following the victory over Manchester City, he remarked: “It’s the most important moment of my career, it’s unforgettable.
“But it’s also a moment for recognition of everything Paris has done for me, but we failed to win it. I’m very happy, and I hope that Paris will be able to get here soon.”
Before adding: “We do not always understand everything that is happening, but it is written by God.
“[Thomas] Tuchel changed everything, the team mentality. But it’s also important to talk about [Frank] Lampard.
“Without him, winning here would have been difficult, thanks to him for letting me sign here.”

Chelsea have £86m Romelu Lukaku transfer offer involving Marcos Alonso rejected as Inter demand £100m fee

CHELSEA have had an £86million bid for Romelu Lukaku involving Marcos Alonso rejected. The European champions have identified the 28-year-old Belgian as their number one striker target – but have been told by Inter Milan to stump up £100m.
Chelsea have made Romelu Lukaku their top transfer targetCredit: Getty
It comes is after the Blues were met with a brick wall in their attempts to try to persuade Borussia Dortmund to do a deal for Erling Haaland.
But with Inter having no intention of being bullied into selling their main man, Roman Abramovich will have to come up with an even bigger offer.
Chelsea made their initial offer of £86m for the player they sold to Everton for £28m seven years ago.
But Inter rate Lukaku as one of the top strikers in world football so are asking for a nine-figure sum.
Now Abramovich and director Marina Granovskaia face having to pay way more than they planned if they want to land the forward and not leave the squad short for the coming season.
Boss Thomas Tuchel has made it clear to them he needs a top-class striker to help bridge the gap between themselves and champions Manchester City this season.
Tammy Abraham has been told he can leave after failing to convince Tuchel he is up to the task, and Olivier Giroud has already quit Stamford Bridge for AC Milan.

The Blues originally prioritised a move for Norweigan Haaland but despite applying pressure have found Dortmund unwilling to drop their £170m asking price.
And they have found Bayern Munich just as tough to crack after enquiring about the availability of Robert Lewandowski.

The Blues are only interested in a permanent deal for the MoroccanCredit: AFP
Ziyech only netted six goals in 39 appearances across all competitions last term.
Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Timo Werner are all thought to be ahead of the forward, it seems his chances of playing under Thomas Tuchel are looking slim.
The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a Milan move for several weeks over the summer.
Now Calciomercato claims the Blues have snubbed an attempt from the Serie A club to sign the Moroccan international on loan.
And that Chelsea are only interested in doing business if it is a permanent transfer.
The two sides enjoy warm relations after the recent move that took Olivier Giroud to Italy from West London.
Tuchel has so far failed to land a new forward after his advances were turned down by Inter ace Romelu Lukaku.
And his No1 target Erling Haaland looks set to stay at Borussia Dortmund.
But it seems he remains confident he will get a new man in as Chelsea are preparing to slash their asking price for Tammy Abraham, as we exclusively reported yesterday.
