Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi ‘set to quit England for Ghana at international level after growing disillusioned with FA’

ENGLAND are resigned to losing Callum Hudson-Odoi to Ghana with the Chelsea winger ‘disillusioned’ with the FA, according to reports. The 21-year-old has appeared three times for the Three Lions’ senior side, though the last of his outings came in 2019.

He was called up for the Under-21s last month, but rejected the chance to link up with Lee Carsley’s squad.
And according to the Daily Mail, the Blues youngster has become disillusioned with the England set-up.
After creating history two years ago by becoming England’s youngest player to make their debut in a competitive match, Hudson-Odoi is said to have been disappointed after being dropped to the U21 squad.
The news outlet also states how England now accept that the 2021 Champions League winner will switch his international allegiance to Ghana.
Boss Southgate promised the forward he still has a role in his team earlier this month.
But it appears that Hudson-Odoi, who has dual nationality, has made his mind up.

Hudson-Odoi is still eligible to represent Ghana despite his three international caps as they all came before he was 21, though he must not add to his appearances.
He would also need to wait to make an application until three years after his last outing for England.
Therefore any application for a switch can only be made after November next year, just before the 2022 World Cup.
Speaking earlier this year, Hudson-Odoi revealed he would be open to representing the West African nation.
He said: “I think obviously when you’re young, you have the opportunity to play for England throughout all the years, from under 15 to under 16 all the way up.
“When they obviously gave me the opportunity to come I was in the country already.

“It’s something that I already had in my mind, set on already playing for England.”
“So it was the thing obviously choosing Ghana or England, and at the end of the day I said I always had the right people around me who always advise me – what’s right, what’s wrong. England came and I said ‘Yeah, let me go and play for my country.
“But I said Ghana is my home as well, so we’ll see, we’ll see. You’ll never know, so.”

Chelsea ace Kante is sport’s most likeable star, from shopping at Asda to driving a Mini and too shy to hold World Cup

CHELSEA star N’Golo Kante is impossible not to like. The humble 30-year-old, a World Cup winner nonetheless, has proven his credentials once again as one of football’s most modest guys.
The 30-year-old, who has won almost all there is to win for both club and country, was snapped by a fan also doing his supermarket shopping.
Chelsea star Kante poses with fellow shopper Sarfaz in ASDACredit: Twitter / @Sarfraz_A10
Midfielder Kante was spotted by one fan doing his weekly shop at budget supermarket Asda.
Speaking on Twitter, fellow shopper Sarfaz Ahmed said: “Went out for some casual grocery shopping at Asda and look who I bumped in to.
“@nglkante what a player and what a human being! Very kindly took a picture with me and was so polite.
“Listened patiently to what I had to say, so humble for a player of such class!”
It’s not the first time the ex-Leicester City star has proven to be the nicest man in the beautiful game.
    HE’S NO LITTER BUG
Before Kante was rich and famous, earning a reported £290,000-per-week, he grew up in Paris, where he was born to Malian parents.
There he would help his father pick up litter from the streets in the hope of finding valuable waste.
A young Kante would walk miles, which might be why he’s got such a good engine on him as a player.

    CAN I RUN TO TRAINING?
It was the Foxes who brought Kante to our shores in 2015 from Caen.
But, astonishingly, unlike his team mates he didn’t want to get a car and wanted to run to training, which wasn’t quite the done thing.
As Jamie Vardy recalled: “One day he said to us that he was seriously considering running to the training centre each day, which came from the fact that he would always add a little running session for himself.
“In the moment, we were all a bit taken aback and convinced him not to.”

    FINE, I’LL GET A CAR
In the end, Kante did get himself a motor. But it wasn’t a fancy Lamborghini or Mercedes.
No, N’Golo went for a £20,000 Mini Cooper, which is reportedly second-hand.
Incredibly, he still drives a Mini Cooper, even after getting involved in a crash with a lorry in 2018.

    STAY WITH ME
Acts of generosity aren’t uncommon in Kante’s world.
When former Leicester defender Cedric Kipre struggled to find a home to live, Kante let him crash at his…. with his brother.
“I lived at N’Golo’s house for a month when I was at Leicester,” Kipre told Goal.
“I had a problem with my apartment and he hosted my brother and me. Not everyone would have done it, and it was really nice of him.
“Today, I’m proud to have met someone like him. There is nobody more humble than N’Golo.”

    NO TO OFFSHORE TAX COMPANY
Back in 2018, Kante was rewarded with a new five-year contract worth £290,000-per-week.
It was reported that Chelsea advised him to set up an offshore tax company, but he wasn’t having any of it.
Kante insisted that he wanted to pay full tax, unlike many of his peers.
After hearing the story, French pal Blaise Matuidi said: “I didn’t really follow this story, but I’m not surprised because it is N’Golo.
“He’s perfect, he doesn’t cheat. Just a bit when he plays cards.”

    APOLOGISING TO AN ARSENAL FAN
Kante even has time for his rival’s fans.
A day after the Blues beat London rivals Arsenal 3-2 in 2018, he bumped into a Gooner, who wanted a photo with the footballer.
Sharky shared his story on Twitter. “Just met this man. Told him I was an arsenal fan and I was upset about the game this weekend but he smiled at me and said “sorry”. What a guy.”

    DOESN’T FORGET HIS OWN FANS
That said, it’s his own fans that he values more.
In fact, Kante once turned up at the wedding of a Chelsea fan’s daughter, after turning down the invite originally.
“We became friends when I was introduced to him by a friend and he came to my restaurant Chak89,” Frank Khalid explained.
“I invited him and originally he couldn’t attend because of his commitment to the French national team, but because of his injury he messaged me saying he was coming.
“My family and myself are very close to N’Golo and he was one of the first people to visit me when I had my triple bypass surgery operation in April 2018.
“He stayed till the end and was so nice to everyone and signed autographs and took selfies with the guests.”

    EATS CURRY AND WATCHES MOTD
A lot of football fans do this ritual – a curry before settling down to watch the day’s highlights on Match of the Day.
And that’s exactly what Kante did when he missed his Eurostar train back to France. He Googled the nearest Mosque to St Pancras and prayed.
Arsenal fan Badlur Rahman Jalil immediately recognised him and explained how Kante ended up coming back to his to watch Match of the Day.
“I went to the mosque on Saturday evening to pray and we just prayed together. It’s Islamic teaching to invite guests to your house for dinner, so I asked him,” Badlur revealed.
“He came with me and my brother because he was on his own and said he was only going to go home anyway.
“He was on a protein diet so we had a chicken curry. He even had a cup of tea.
“He beat us all at Fifa and then we watched Match of the Day. It was a really nice evening.”

TOO SHY TO HOLD THE WORLD CUP
In 2018, Kante achieved the pinnacle – wining the World Cup for his country.

But, the notoriously shy star didn’t want to impose on his team mates and was reluctant to hold the trophy.
Luckily, Steven N’Zonzi saw the issue and told his French team mates to give Kante a go.
It just makes you admire the man’s humility even more.

CHELSEA striker Timo Werner is reportedly one of four players being eyed up by Borussia Dortmund to replace Erling Haaland. The Norway international, 21, is expected to depart in 2022 with the player now available for just £64million due to a clause in his contract.

Haaland has already banged in nine goals from seven games for BVB this term, while he scored five times during the recent international break.
And according to SportBild, the ex-Red Bull Salzburg ace is almost certain to leave next year as clubs look to prise him away from Signal Iduna Park.
They state that only Manchester United, City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are able to afford the player.
With Haaland set to be sold, the news outlet claims that Dortmund have already drawn up a four-man shortlist to replace the centre-forward.
Inter Milan ace Lautaro Martinez is believed to be a target, along with Torino ace Andrea Belotti and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram.
And they have also identified a possible swoop for Timo Werner, who has struggled since joining the Blues from RB Leipzig last year.

The 25-year-old scored just six Premier League goals from 35 top-flight games last term.
And he has failed to get on the score sheet from any of his four outings in all competitions this campaign.
It has been said that Dortmund are weighing up whether to bring him back to the Bundesliga, where they believe he will suit boss Marco Rose’s style of play.
But in order to join BVB, the former Stuttgart man would have to take a pay cut to force through the move.

Werner has also been linked with German giants Bayern Munich, where he would be reunited with former Leipzig gaffer Julian Nagelsmann.
His ex-team-mates Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer joined the Bavarian outfit this summer, and the club could look to bring Werner to the Allianz Arena should Robert Lewandowski depart.
Dutch legends Ruud Gullit and Marco van Basten recently ripped into the forward for his poor goal return, with his lack of confidence labelled as ‘pathetic’.

Frozen Ben Chilwell’s been left-back in the dressing-room at Chelsea but star is hoping for some Champions League action

BEN CHILWELL will be reminded of better times when the biggest club tournament in world football resumes tonight. The last time the Chelsea defender kicked a ball in a competitive game was also the high point of his career when he won it back in May.
Ben Chilwell tasted Champions League glory with Chelsea in MayCredit: The Sun
From Champions League winner to bystander for England at the Euros and now on the bench without a look in as the new season gathers pace.
Boss Thomas Tuchel has held talks with his £50million left back and revealed that Chillwell’s mood darkened as the summer wore on and the glow of victory faded.
Chilwell is yet to play a single minute of any game for Chelsea or England since that memorable night against Manchester City in Portugal on May 29.
But as the calendar rolls on and European football arrives there is a glimmer of hope that he might finally be seen back on the pitch.
Tuchel said: “It has been difficult for him, absolutely. It’s pretty normal.
“He came from a Champions League win and a 90 minutes and strong performance, and had a good end to the season in general and played a lot of minutes for us. Many important, crucial games at a high level.

“Then it was a tough Euros for him because there were chances where he thought he could have played. He did not. Personally, I think and I know it was a tough one because you feel he did everything to push the team.
“You feel part of the team. But you don’t feel it really if you don’t sweat it out sometimes on the pitch and never wear the shirt and are never really involved. It is a strange feeling.
“Then he had a break. It was hard for him to totally relax and get this personal disappointment that he was never in the team off his shoulders.
“When he arrived here he was emntally tired. Still worrying about the situation. At the same time, he had to accept it.
“He was very unlucky at the start of the season, too, because Marcos was here the whole preseason and did every single training session, and took this opportunity with such a huge quality and attitude.
“These are two specialists for the same position, so it’s a tough competition for both of them.
“We had some talks with Chilly about the situation. He knows I would have done the same thing if it had been the other way round, to trust him if he was here and showed this kind of personality and attitude like Marcos did.
“They are in competition but, at the same time, they are pushing each other and there are no further worries for Chilly. He just has to be a bit patient and keep on training.
“He had to be a bit patient with himself to find the joy again and to find things a little easier on the pitch, and not to force it too hard. This is where we are now.
The defender has found himself left on the bench for the Blues this termCredit: PA
“He’s in good shape. A good place mentally and on the pitch. He can play any minute.”
Chilwell’s best chance to break back into the team comes this evening with Russians Zenit as the opposition in the first group game, at home.
As well as rotating to rest his squad, Tuchel is without key midfielder N’Golo Kante and winger Christian Pulisic who remain crocked.
Chelsea are unbeaten in the Premier League and now open up a second front in Europe, with the League Cup to come next week as the fixture scheduling really kicks in.
The other time Chelsea won the Champions League they made a hash of the title defence – crashing out in the group stage which led to the sacking of boss Roberto di Mateo.

Veteran skipper Cesar Azpilicueta said: “When I arrived to Chelsea after they won the Champions League it was tough to be out in the group stage.
“I am the only one in the squad from that moment. I will try with my experience to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
“We don’t get any more points this season because we were champions.”

But midfielder N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic are both missing.
Tuchel said: “Today was the first day with everyone back. Unfortunately, we have N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic out.
“They both got back injured. N’Golo more from the Liverpool game and we will try for Tuesday. Christian came back on crutches.”
However, Romelu Lukaku is expected to recover from his minor thigh problem he picked up with Belgium to start.
And he seems certain to be supported by Mason Mount and Kai Havertz again after the 1-1 draw at Liverpool a fortnight ago.
But with the Champions League on the horizon, Tuchel may opt to rest the Belgian and give Timo Werner a start in attack after he scored three for Germany over the past two weeks.

Chelsea ‘will only relaunch Jules Kounde transfer bid in January if Sevilla slash asking price by almost HALF’

CHELSEA will reportedly only reignite their interest in Jules Kounde during the winter transfer window if Sevilla slash their demands for the defender. The Blues were keen to snap up the centre-back in the summer, but were reluctant to activate his £68million release clause.

Both clubs were close to agreeing a £43m deal for the Frenchman, only for the LaLiga side to bump up their asking price following Kurt Zouma’s switch to West Ham.
The failed transfer is said to have left Kounde furious with the Sevilla board after he had agreed personal terms with the West London outfit.
But the 22-year-old could still get his move to Chelsea in January, but ESPN state that will only happen if the Spanish outfit lower their demands.
They have claimed that Chelsea are only prepared to still pay £43m.
Should Sevilla be willing to revive negotiations, then the Champions League holders won’t hesitate in making a swoop for the ex-Bordeaux ace.
Speaking of Chelsea’s failed move for Kounde, Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui confirmed that the Premier League giants didn’t offer a sufficient amount of money.

“With the evolution he has had in these two years, it is positive, without any doubt.”

Before adding: “We trust that he’ll continue to grow with us and, above all, perform, which is the most important thing.”
Chelsea reportedly are also looking to prise French starlet Aurelien Tchouameni away from Monaco.

And it has been revealed how Terry was left ‘wanting to kill’ the ex-West Ham ace following one incident in training.
After it was announced that EA Sports have announced Cole as a FUT Hero for FIFA 22, he commented on one of his memories of Terry.
Ashley Cole gave background to the story when speaking to Chelsea’s YouTube channel.
He said: “You’ve sold him a step-over, a massive step-over, give him the old shoulder and the worst part about it is you’ve only gone, ‘sit down son!’
“JT wanted to kill you, I started laughing, he wanted to kill me, the gaffer started laughing, he wanted to kill everyone.”
Joe Cole then added: “It doesn’t sound like much because how can I knock him over?

“It’s probably the only time that I’ve ever done it. And I let him know.
“I said: ‘Get on the weights! The gym is over there!’ I had him on a bit of string and he’s lost the plot, bless him. Absolutely love him.”
And that wasn’t the only time Terry was at boiling point with Cole, after it was revealed how the legendary defender was infuriated after losing a game of FIFA to him.
Cole continued: “We were playing FIFA and he was quite a good player, he was better than me.
“But this one time I was beating him and I thought ‘I’m going to wind him up, I’m going to go to bed now’ and he’s the sort of guy that you had to let win otherwise he wouldn’t let you leave the room.
“So I beat him and the final whistle has gone and I’ve run. And he’s chased me ‘Coley! Come back, I want another game’.

“So I’ve gone in my room, locked the door. Chain on, chair just in case he’s going to break the door down.
“He’s going ‘Nah you’ve got to give me another game’, I’ve gone ‘No geez, champ’s going to bed now, might order some room service’.
“He was so angry as he’s such a competitor. I wouldn’t play him again and he must have been outside that room for about 10 minutes, begging me to play.”
