Tuchel insists he and the Blues tried everything to persuade Rudiger to stay but failed.
He said: “Toni’s a big personality, a big leader and he takes fear away from other people, he gives you confidence when he’s next to you.
“It will be challenging but like always, no matter how much I love Toni and how big a role he played, there will be Chelsea without Toni Rudiger and we will find solutions.
“We fought hard, I fought hard on a personal level but we have this kind of connection since day one and he deserves my full support because he delivered incredible performances until today. So reliable.”

Chelsea offered Rudiger a contract worth more than £200,000-a-week but he is opting to leave after five years in which he has become the bedrock of the defence.
Government sanctions imposed on the club made it difficult to find more cash to keep him.
Rudiger is currently sidelined with groin and leg injuries but Tuchel has no hesitation playing him for the rest of the season – despite him leaving.
Tuchel said: “We had big offers for him and the club tried everything but since some weeks we cannot fight anymore because we have the sanctions, we cannot adjust, we cannot continue so it is what it is.”

JORGINHO had his blushes spared by Christian Pulisic after the Chelsea midfielder missed a late penalty in the 1-0 win against West Ham.The Blues scored a dramatic injury time winner at Stamford Bridge to extend their lead over fourth-placed Arsenal to five points.

It was a nervy end to the game for the hosts who were guilty of yet another below-par performance in front of their own fans.
And in the 87th minute they were handed the game on a plate when Hammers centre-back Craig Dawson was sent off for hauling down Romelu Lukaku inside the box.
Up stepped Jorginho, who was looking to score his tenth goal of the season, with all nine of his strikes this term coming from the penalty spot.

And after his latest missed penalty, Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness slammed his attempt from the spot.
He said: “It’s pathetic. It’s bouncing before it gets to the goalkeeper. I mean, that’s an example of how to take a penalty. There’s no conviction.

And Jorginho’s lifeless penalty looked to have provided evidence for that as he passed his spot kick into Lukasz Fabianski’s palms.
No matter Chelsea’s league position, club legend Frank Lampard would have hammered his penalty against any London rival.
Thankfully for the Blues, Pulisic’s late winner did paper over some cracks to put his side back on track.
Up until then, Tuchel’s men were heading for three home league matches without a win.
Judging by Chelsea’s cup performances, this kind of showing won’t be expected when they rematch Liverpool in the FA Cup final on May 14.
But they still have six league games left and need to buck their ideas up if they are to finish inside the top three for the first time in three seasons.

But it was hardly a convincing performance as it needed Craig Dawson to be sent off before Chelsea could make use of their domination as nerves at Stamford Bridge continue to dog Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Midfielder Jorginho also missed a penalty in a below par performance from this year’s FA Cup finalists.
This was the first game in four that the visitors failed to score but the three points are a massive boost to boss Tuchel – who has been watching Arsenal gain ground on his side in the battle for third place.
Chelsea’s lead over Arsenal is restored to five points and they have a game in hand on their London neighbours.

West Ham were the happier to hold out for a point whereas Chelsea grew more and more frustrated as the game wore on.
Tuchel spent the first hour rooted in the chair in his dugout but became more agitated as time ticked away and his team failed to get a grasp on the game.
But while his team was on top for the vast majority of the game, West Ham were resolute with Dawson, the club’s only fit centre-back, throwing himself at everything.
He launched his body full length to deny Timo Werner in the 56th minute and was lucky when a shot from N’Golo Kante ricocheted off his body into the grateful hands of Hammers keeper Lukasz Fabianski.

The game only really came to life in the last ten minutes. As Chelsea pushed for a winner, sub Romelu Lukaku was pulled down in the box by Dawson.
After consulting VAR, ref Michael Oliver awarded the penalty and sent off the defender who has been a hero for his club in recent weeks.
Jorginho had the perfect chance to smash home a spot kick and give Chelsea a much-needed home win but hit a meek shot straight at keeper Fabianski.
The home side made a last-gasp breakthrough when Alonso managed to thread a by-line cross from the left into the box, where Pulisic cashed in the space allowed by Dawson’s red card to divert a low shot into the bottom corner from 15 yards.

TINO LIVRAMENTO was taken off on a stretcher after suffering a horror injury in Southampton’s South Coast clash with Brighton.The right-back, 19, went down off the ball with 37 minutes played with what appears to be a serious knee injury.
