Chelsea star Fikayo Tomori eyed by AC Milan in loan transfer as Frank Lampard hints defender could head out

CHELSEA defender Fikayo Tomori is reportedly being eyed by Italian giants AC Milan.
The 23-year-old is well down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, with boss Frank Lampard prepared to let him leave on loan.

Fikayo Tomori looks set to leave Chelsea on loan this monthCredit: Rex Features

And according to Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Milan have ‘contacted Chelsea’ and the player ‘would accept’ the move.
But Tomori is seemingly second-choice for the Rossoneri with Strasbourg’s Mohamed Simakan top of their list.
Lampard is keen for Tomori to head out to get some first-team action.
The 15-cap England U21 international has made just four appearances this season – the latest being a 10-minute cameo in the FA Cup win over Morecambe.

A string of Premier League clubs, including Leeds and Newcastle, are reportedly interested.
Lampard said: “The situation with Fikayo is open at the moment.
“There is a possibility he could be going on loan to get games somewhere else. So that would have to be the solution for him and the club. That was part of my thinking of not starting him today.
“I gave him some minutes at the end but while we were looking at that I wanted to make sure it was the right thing for the club and for him and individually. So that’s why he didn’t start.

“But his attitude, even though he hasn’t played much recently, has been fantastic in training and in how he is.”
Tomori was a key part of Lampard’s Derby team in the 2018/19 Championship campaign.
He snubbed a move to West Ham on summer transfer deadline day to fight for a spot at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea refusing to let Ross Barkley leave on permanent transfer to Aston Villa on cheap after successful loan spell

CHELSEA are poised to play hardball with Aston Villa over any potential transfer for midfielder Ross Barkley.
The 27-year-old hit some fine form following a loan switch before he was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Chelsea are not prepared to let Ross Barkley leave on the cheapCredit: Reuters
And according to Birmingham Live, Chelsea aren’t willing to let Barkley leave on the cheap’.
Barkley still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his £100,000-plus weekly wage.
Stamford Bridge boss Frank Lampard is understood to have been impressed with the midfielder’s form on loan at Villa Park this season.

And the Blues manager, 42, is reported to have been in touch with the player to congratulate him on the quality of his performances.
Barkley had opted for a September move from West London in a bid to boost his England selection chances ahead of the Euros next year.
And with the summer arrivals of Kai Havertz and Hakim Zayech, first team starts for the midfield star looked like they could potentially be limited.
But many of Chelsea’s acquisitions from their £200million summer splurge have struggled for form leading to increasing pressure on Lampard.

And that could mean Barkley is handed a Stamford Bridge lifeline.

Chelsea are still being linked with a move for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
And the Blues might have been give a boost in their transfer pursuit.
He has reportedly told his friends he does not want to leave London for Manchester – ruling out a move to United.
A source told the Daily Mirror: “Dec has been flattered by interest in him but he doesn’t see himself moving to Manchester.
“It’s obvious where he’d like his next move to be.”

Trigger-happy Chelsea changed after Ancelotti axe with Abramovich no longer keen to sack bosses.. thankfully for Lampard

FRANK LAMPARD does not need telling he has to turn Chelsea’s season round before it hits the rocks.
After all, the Blues boss spent the first decade of Roman Abramovich’s reign as a key member of the Stamford Bridge dressing room.

Chelsea have lost four out of their last six Premier League gamesCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd

But Lampard also recognises that Chelsea is now a different club to the one it was when the Russian took charge.
Still, absolutely, with the same expectations – to win silverware, to compete, to go close.
Yet without the same impatient demands, the same sense of every single match being a potential reason for judgement, the period when a draw was viewed as little more than a defeat which earned a point.
And a club which, despite all the efforts to portray it as having a revolving door to the manager’s office, is actually far more stable than most.

As Lampard will know, as well, it all changed after one decision, where the club acted in haste – and repented at leisure.
May 22, 2011. A corridor in the bowels of Goodison Park.
Defeat at Everton was irrelevant – Manchester United were already champions and this was the final game of the campaign.
Carlo Ancelotti completed his media duties to be confronted by chief executive Ron Gourlay.

Carlo Ancelotti was dismissed in brutal fashion at the end of the 2010-11 seasonCredit: Reuters
This was just 12 months after the Italian had guided the Blues to the first title and FA Cup Double in their history, a record-breaking season which saw Chelsea score 103 goals.
And it counted for nothing. Zip. Diddly squat.
Ancelotti was told that he had failed and was being sacked. Bet he enjoyed that flight back.
At the time, nobody was too surprised.
After all, Ancelotti’s Chelsea epitaph was already being written after their Champions League exit at United’s hands and the season had seen him at one point being on the brink of quitting – allegedly – after assistant Ray Wilkins was given the Order of the Boot.
Yet it was an inflexion point in modern Chelsea. The day that – eventually – changed everything.
Ask senior Chelsea figures now – indeed, ask them soon after it happened – and you will be told that they concede Ancelotti should not have been sacked. That he deserved better. That it was a mistake.
But it was one the club learned from.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich is giving his managers more time to succeedCredit: AFP – Getty
That did not mean that every subsequent manager was not judged harshly.
Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto Di Matteo, in particular, will unquestionably tell you otherwise.
But it meant that there needed to be REAL reason to dispense with a manager mid-season, even one that was under-performing.
In the cases of Villas-Boas and Di Matteo, the reasons were different, although similar.
Villas-Boas fell out, big-time, with senior players – Lampard in particular – but more critical was the others who lost faith in him tactically rather than personally.
The club believed it would finish outside the top four unless there was a change.
Less than a year later, Di Matteo – who had, remember won both the Champions League and FA Cup – fell out spectacularly with Fernando Torres, who was perhaps the last true “vanity signing” of the Abramovich era.
More pertinently, he had only got the job by default and would have been binned in the weeks after “that” night in Munich if Pep Guardiola had been keen to come.

Yet when Jose Mourinho’s second spell at the club crashed and burned in 2016, amid allegations about “rats” in the dressing room, the bizarre ruck with Eva Carneiro and a plummet to the bottom of the Prem, he was still given backing.
For two months, there was plenty of speculation. Each game was “win or bust”. Except, when Chelsea and Mourinho lost, it wasn’t.
Until, in December, they lost at Leicester. Now, genuinely, the fear was relegation.
Mourinho was pulled out of the club Christmas party to be sent packing.
But that had set the new normal. Managers would be given time to fail.
So Antonio Conte, whose relationship with senior figures – and plenty of his players – became toxic, saw out his second season before leaving.
And Maurizio Sarri, who never sold “Sarriball” to the fans – and did deliver the Europa League despite that – completed his first and only campaign at the helm even if it was abundantly clear he was not a natural fit.
Lampard came in charged with changing the dressing room mood, bringing through the academy talent, dealing with a transfer ban AND competing for honours.

Chelsea currently sit ninth in the table after 17 games playedCredit: AFP

By any standards, he accomplished that last season.
Chelsea were not the only side demolished by Bayern Munich – just ask Spurs and Barcelona about that – and also lost the FA Cup Final.
But they did secure Champions League football and Lampard helped develop the careers of Reece James, Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham, among others.
Even this season, with a series of big money recruits, there was an acceptance that it might take time for Lampard’s new squad to gel.
The board expected more, no question. From Lampard, yes. But also from Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech in particular and established stars like N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.
An absolute car crash in the next few weeks, a drop into the nether regions of the Prem table, an embarrassing FA Cup exit or thumping by Atletico Madrid could bring things to a head earlier.
In all probability, though, as Lampard knows, he will be given the rest of the campaign, to prove his worth. The right to be judged by what he has done.
That is the reality of the new Chelsea. Still beyond demanding. But no longer an almost impossible job.

Most valuable Premier League XI revealed with Raheem Sterling and Son missing out but Chelsea’s Havertz making cut

CHELSEA new boy Kai Havertz hasn’t enjoyed the best start to life in England.
Frank Lampard has struggled to figure it out his best position it seems, with the German, 21, managing just one goal and two assists in his first 15 Premier League games.

However, Havertz’s potential is plain to see and the former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder makes the top-flight’s most-valuable XI.
The former Bundesliga star keeps out the likes of Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante and Fabinho to break into the team.
According to Transfermarkt, Havertz is worth a staggering £72.9million – roughly what Chelsea paid for him in the summer.
But he is by no means the most-valuable player in the Premier League – not by a long shot.

In fact, the front-three alone are worth a combined £324m.
Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah – along with Tottenham star Harry Kane – are valued at £108m apiece.
Their outrageous price-tags keep the likes of Son Heung-min, Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford out of the team.

Kevin De Bruyne is the only other player rated at over £100m in the Premier League.

The second XI of the most-valuable players in the top-flight includes Pogba

The Manchester City ace – joint-level with the front-three at £108m each – joins Havertz and Bruno Fernandes a star-studded midfield trio.
Red-hot Manchester United star Fernandes joined the Old Trafford club for £50m just under a year ago, but is now worth £81m.
In defence, reigning champions Liverpool steal the show, boasting THREE of the back-four.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is the Premier League’s most-valuable defender, rated at £99m.
The right-back joins pals Virgil van Dijk (£72m) and Andrew Robertson (£67.5m) in defence.
Man City duo Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias are both worth £54m.

In goal, Liverpool stopper Alisson keeps fellow Brazilian Ederson out of the line-up.
The Reds No1 is considered to be worth more than £20m more than his compatriot at £72m compared to £50.4m.
Along with Ederson and one of Dias and Laporte, Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£36m), Harry Maguire (£36m) and Ben Chilwell (£45m) would make the second string.
The second XI’s midfield would be made up of Paul Pogba (£58.5m), Rodri (£57.6m) and Fabinho (£54m).
Sterling (£99m) and Son (£81m) would be joined by Roberto Firmino (£64.8m) in attack.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has blown over £110m on paying off sacked managers amid Lampard’s uncertain future

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH has spent a staggering £110.5MILLION paying off sacked managers since becoming Chelsea owner in 2003.
And amid a horror run of results, there’s a real fear Frank Lampard COULD be next to face the swing of the Russian’s axe.

Abramovich has spent over £110m on sacking managers since his 2003 arrival

SunSport understands Blues chiefs are NOT considering dumping the ex-Derby chief yet.
But Chelsea have had their head turned by Thomas Tuchel’s sudden availability after he was sacked by Paris Saint-Germain before Christmas.
Since buying the Blues from Ken Bates, Abramovich has seen 12 managers come and go – including Jose Mourinho twice.
Only ONE of them left on their own terms – Europa League winner Maurizio Sarri, who quit Chelsea to pursue his dream at Juventus after just one year in London.

Antonio Conte was the most recent axing at Stamford Bridge – with the Blues ordered to pay the Italian £9m in compensation.
However, including his large backroom staff, the now-Inter Milan chief’s sacking actually cost Chelsea a grand total of £26.6m.
A statement from the club confirmed: “Exceptional items in the current year of £26.6m relate to changes in respect of the men’s team management and coaching staff, together with associated legal costs.”

Claudio Ranieri – who was awarded £6m – was Abramovich’s first casualty, lasting just a season before being sacked to make room for Mourinho.

Frank Lampard is under increasing pressure at Chelsea

The Special One – and his backroom staff – were given £23.1m in 2007, with Avram Grant picking up £5.2m after being dismissed in May 2008 – days after losing the Champions League final.
Brazil’s 2002 World Cup-winning boss Luiz Felipe Scolari was awarded £12.6m after being sacked just seven months into his reign.
Carlo Ancelotti was axed immediately after losing against Everton on the final game of the 2010-11 season and was given £6m.
Andre Villas-Boas failed to win over Abramovich after arriving from Porto, as he was sent packing in March 2012 for £12m.
His successor Roberto Di Matteo helped guide Chelsea to win the Champions League and FA Cup in 2012, but he was sacked that November and awarded £10.7m.
Rafa Benitez was given no compensation as he was the club’s interim boss, with Mourinho replacing him for his second spell in charge in 2013.
But he was sacked in December 2015, with him and his staff awarded £8.3m, before Guus Hiddink took over until the end of the season. He also received no compensation.
Conte then took over in West London – winning trophies in each of his two seasons – but was moved on after falling out with his players and board members.
Lampard currently has just 18 months left on his current contract at around £77,000 per week.
That totals around £3m left on his current deal, so if Abramovich was to give him the boot now, he would take his total in sacked manager payouts to a staggering £114.5m.

How Chelsea could line up under Thomas Tuchel with Mbappe and Icardi as axed PSG boss is lined up to replace Lampard

THOMAS TUCHEL has admitted he’s ‘interested’ in taking over at Chelsea after being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain with Frank Lampard under increasing pressure.
The German boss, 47, led his former side to a 4-0 win over Strasbourg just before Christmas to put the club just one point off the top spot in Ligue 1.

But PSG chiefs still swung the axe, only confirming Tuchel’s departure FIVE DAYS later.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss has already been linked with a return to management.
Frank Lampard is under increasing scrutiny at Chelsea after a string of poor results.
The ex-Derby chief is under mounting pressure following an alarming dip in form, most-recently in the 3-1 thumping against Manchester City.

SunSport understands he is in no immediate danger of being sacked.
But the sudden availability of Tuchel has put Stamford Bridge chiefs on alert with a view to a possible change in the summer if results do not improve.
Last week, Tuchel revealed he is ‘interested’ in taking over at Stamford Bridge, too.

Should the German take over in West London, he could bring a few old favourites with him.

    TUCHEL’S TOP 10 PSG SIGNINGS

    Kylian Mbappe – Monaco – £162million
    Mauro Icardi – Inter Milan – £52m
    Leandro Paredes – Zenit – £40m
    Thilo Kehrer – Schalke – £33m
    Idrissa Gueye – Everton – £30m
    Abdou Diallo – Borussia Dortmund – £29m
    Pablo Sarabia – Sevilla – £16m
    Keylor Navas – Real Madrid – £13.5m
    Sergio Rico – Sevilla – £5.5m
    Juan Bernat – Bayern Munich – £4.5m

Kylian Mbappe is one player who could complete a shock move to Chelsea.
Tuchel first brought Mbappe to PSG from Monaco in a £162million move in 2018.
The France superstar, 22, is yet to sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes, with PSG chiefs getting twitchy.
Mbappe has never hidden his desire to play for boyhood club Real Madrid.
But with Los Blancos struggling financially due to the coronavirus pandemic, he may be forced to head elsewhere.
After all, PSG are being linked with a free move for unsettled Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, who is able to sign pre-contract terms with clubs from this Friday.
With Neymar playing a huge role in Messi’s decision, it could be PSG opt to cash-in on Mbappe to fund a deal for the Argentine, who earns around £900,000 a week at the Nou Camp.
Timo Werner has struggled early in his Chelsea career and Tuchel could look for some elite back-up to ease the German in.

Mauro Icardi could be the man Tuchel turns to, with the Argentine another of his signings in May of this year following a loan spell.
Icardi has played just five times for PSG this season and has long been linked with a move to Chelsea.
Elsewhere, Tuchel will likely realise the need for some more creative talent in midfield, with Marco Verratti another player long linked with a PSG exit.
Idrissa Gueye is another former PSG signing of Tuchel’s, with the midfielder’s Premier League experience at Everton invaluable.
In defence, Thiago Silva – formerly of PSG – has formed a superb partnership in the heart of defence with Kurt Zouma.
But Chelsea will soon have to look to the long-term, with Thilo Kehrer a potential target after Tuchel signed the defender from Schalke in 2018.

Chelsea’s wonderkids who failed to make the grade and where they are now, including Kakuta, McEachran and more

IT’S all been about the kids at Chelsea since Frank Lampard’s appointment.
Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Reece James have all benefitted massively under the club legend’s stewardship.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is not afraid to give youth a chance at Stamford BridgeCredit: EPA

But this is a club who have been known for nabbing and nurturing some of English football’s finest, only for them to fail to make the grade.
SunSport takes a look back at seven of the most memorable boy wonders who shone bright early on before burning out.
    GAEL KAKUTA
The name will remain synonymous with off-field controversy at Stamford Bridge, but Kakuta was once the brightest young thing at the club.
Chelsea were hit with a 16-month transfer ban by Fifa in 2009 for allegedly inducing Kakuta to break his contract with French club Lens in 2007.

The move appeared to be worth it as Kakuta won Academy Player of the Year, finished top scorer for the youth side and won the U19 European Championship with France.
When he made his first-team debut in 2009 after a four-month ban from Fifa, a Mail on Sunday article was headlined: “Chelsea’s new wonder boy worth all the fuss”.
A decade later, Kakuta signed with French club Amiens in what is the 13th professional club of his career.

Gael Kakuta signed with Chelsea in 2007 but is now on loan at Rens from Amiens
The 29-year-old went out on loan to six clubs during six years with Chelsea’s first-team before eventually moving on to Sevilla.

There were a couple of years in China and a return to Spain before switching to France.
Embarrassingly, Kakuta was embroiled in a court case in 2014 when a broke former footballer masqueraded as him to fund a luxury lifestyle.
Medi Abalimba was jailed after racking up huge bills in hotels and nightclubs pretending to be the Chelsea star.
Kakuta joined Amiens in 2019 and is now spending the campaign on loan with Lens.
    JOSH MCEACHRAN
Back in 2010, a 17-year-old McEachran emerged as the brightest young talent in the Chelsea academy.
The Blues fought off the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United to sign the teenager.
McEachran was expected to evolve from starlet to star at Chelsea and, in turn, be the successor to Lampard’s crown in midfield.

Josh McEachran was expected to become a Chelsea superstar and had an ill-fated spell at Brentford
Then England U21s boss Stuart Pearce said: “He’s got a really outstanding talent, similar to Jack Wilshere, and it bodes well for England.
“If Josh and Jack were wearing Spanish shirts, you would revere them.”
The arrival of Andre Villas-Boas to Stamford Bridge in 2011 brought an end to McEachran’s progression and he sought opportunities on loan.
He was sent out to five clubs in three years, from Watford to Wigan, but struggled to settle at any.
In 2015, he broke free of Chelsea’s loan army and joined Brentford on a permanent deal, a move which had highs and lows until his release last summer.
McEachran, now 27, is playing for Birmingham City.
    BERTRAND TRAORE
The repercussions of Traore’s move to Chelsea in 2013 was felt last summer at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard’s inability to make any signings when the Blues were slapped with a transfer ban was due to Traore’s arrival back in 2013.

Bertrand Traore ended up playing just 16 times for Chelsea
Traore’s move to Chelsea was one of the key components in Fifa’s evidence as part of an investigation into the club’s signing of foreign players under the age of 18.
Fifa said it found breaches in 29 cases out of the 92 investigated.
In the end, Traore played just 16 times for Chelsea and departed for Lyon in an £8.8m move in 2017.
In France, he impressed scoring 21 goals in 87 games for the club.
His return to form earned Traore a summer move to Aston Villa for a fee believed to be around £17million where he is starting to find his feet in the Premier League.
    SLOBODAN RAJKOVIC
When a 16-year-old Rajkovic signed for Chelsea in 2005, it was seen as a giant coup.
The centre-back, tipped to succeed John Terry in defence, had spent the previous summer at Arsenal’s youth camp.
The majority of Europe’s big beasts were looking to sign the talented defender, including Man United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Milan and Monaco.
A work permit stalled Rajkovic’s progression at Chelsea so he was sent to Holland on loan, to PSV, Twente and then Vitesse Arnhem.

Slobodan Rajkovic was wanted by Europe’s biggest clubs and enjoyed a stint at Palermo
Villas-Boas gave the Serbian centre-back his first start for Chelsea, in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Wycombe Wanderers in 2011.
The same year Rajkovic was sold to Hamburg in a £1.8m deal.
His career never really ignited, making just 42 appearances for the German side in four years.
Rajkovic spent three years with Italian club Palermo but was released after they finished bottom of Serie B.
The boy once wanted by all is now plying his trade in Russia with FC Lokomotiv Moscow.
    DOMINIC SOLANKE
Jose Mourinho made it clear how much potential Solanke had at Chelsea.
Back in 2014, in his second stint as Stamford Bridge boss, Mourinho named Solanke in a list of players who would be representing their countries in a few years.
“In this moment, we have players who will be Chelsea players.  And when they become Chelsea players, they will become England players, almost for sure,” Mourinho said.
Quite understandable given Solanke success in the youth ranks.
He was England’s Youth Player of the Year in 2014, Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Year the following season and earned his first-team debut aged just 17.

Solanke was Chelsea’s academy star striker but ended up being sold to Liverpool before joining Bournemouth

Solanke was the prolific goalscorer who helped Chelsea to successive FA Youth Cups in 2014 and 2015, as well as a Uefa Youth League.
But two years ago, at the age of 19, Solanke opted for a new beginning having not seen first-team opportunities come his way.
He headed for Merseyside with Liverpool where he made 21 appearances in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team but only scored on the final day of the 2017-18 season.
Bournemouth forked out a whopping £19m for the 23-year-old last year and he is a key part of their side who are pushing for promotion from the Championship.
    ISLAM FERUZ
Liverpool star Andrew Robertson once described Feruz, his then team-mate at Celtic, as the “golden boy” of the Scottish youth football.
Feruz was plucked away by Chelsea in 2011, aged 15, to be another star at the club’s Cobham academy.
But such promise didn’t translate into success for the striker as he was sent out on loan to Crete, Blackpool, Hibernian, Royal Excel Mouscron and Swindon Town.

Islam Feruz is now without a club having been known as the ‘golden boy’ of Scottish football
And when his contract at Chelsea came to an end in 2017 he was released.
Despite only being 25 years old, Feruz has been without a club since and set up a baseball cap brand in the meantime.
Over five years as a Blues player, and sent on as many loans, Feruz made just 20 professional appearances and scored no goals.
Chelsea deemed the striker, once the darling of Scottish youth football, to have lost his potential.

Tony Cascarino claims that Frank Lampard can get best out of Chelsea striker Timo Werner by signing Emile Heskey type of player More
