Incoming Chelsea star Malang Sarr smashes £200k Mercedes into lamp post while heading home from Porto training

CHELSEA defender Malang Sarr was lucky to avoid injury after he smashed his £200,000 Mercedes into a lamp post. The 22-year-old – who joined the Blues last summer before being loaned out to Porto – crashed his car shortly after leaving training.

Sarr was lucky to avoid injury after smashing his car into a lamp post
According to Portuguese news outlet Record, the centre-back lost control of his vehicle just 100 metres after departing Porto’s training ground.
They state that the accident involving the France youth international occurred on Wednesday in the early afternoon.
Initial reports stated that Sarr’s team-mate Moussa Marega was also in the car, however those claims have been shut down by Record.
Sarr is said to have walked away from the accident unscathed after the airbags deployed, however his Mercedes was bashed up.
The former Nice star has impressed during his loan at Porto, where he has featured in 19 games in all competitions.
And he could face Chelsea next month after Porto were drawn against the West London outfit in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Under Uefa rules, players out on loan are able to face their parent club in European competitions.
Sarr revealed last week that he is looking to break into the Chelsea team once he returns from Portugal.

Speaking to L’Equipe via Sport Witness, he said: “I was training with Chelsea before I got loaned. The loan was part of the plan.
“I had to be honest with myself, my season ended in March and I wasn’t going to be successful right away with Chelsea.
“It was the perfect solution because I wanted to do a season at a top club like Porto, to be good and then later take a place at Chelsea.”

How Chelsea could line up against Sheff Utd in FA Cup with Mount and Jorginho returning after sitting out Atletico win

MASON MOUNT and Jorginho could be restored to the Chelsea line-up in the FA Cup quarter-final clash against Sheffield United on Sunday. The pair both missed the 2-0 win against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday due to suspension, but are in contention to start against the Blades.
This is how Chelsea could start in the FA Cup against Sheffield United on Sunday
Thomas Tuchel is expected to shuffle his pack, but will still field a strong team in what is their last game before the international break.
The German gaffer created club history earlier this week after the West Londoners breezed past Diego Simeone’s men.
No other Chelsea manager has went 13 games unbeaten following their appointment, with Tuchel’s favoured 3-4-2-1 formation working wonders.
And the ex-Paris Saint-Germain boss is likely to use the system yet again when the Blues host the Blades on the weekend.
Kepa Arrizabalaga could replace Edouard Mendy between the sticks for the match, with the Spaniard starting all three FA Cup ties this term.
Andreas Christensen is another player that could return to the starting XI after he missed the Atletico game due to illness.
And he could play alongside Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger, with the trio all impressing since Tuchel succeeded Frank Lampard.
Reece James is likely to yet again start as a right full-back, with Ben Chilwell to be deployed on the opposite flank.

This is another way of how the Blues could line-up against the Blades at Stamford Bridge

Returning Jorginho could replace Mateo Kovacic in the line-up, with the Italy international to feature alongside N’Golo Kante.
Mount may start in advanced role just behind the striker with Hakim Ziyech, leaving Kai Havertz to drop to the bench.
Timo Werner may also be given a rest, with Olivier Giroud to lead the line as Tammy Abraham is not fully match fit after his injury.
SunSport understands that Abraham has not shaken off his ankle problem that he picked up against Burnley in January.

And their route to the semis has been made all the more comfortable after drawing surprise package Porto.
The Portuguese side shocked Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus, winning on away goals in a thrilling tie to book their quarter-final place.
Elsewhere, Manchester City will take on Borussia Dortmund in a tasty-looking tie, which includes the return of Jadon Sancho to the Etihad.
Reigning champions Bayern Munich were paired with Paris Saint-Germain in a repeat of last season’s final.
In the final of the four games Liverpool, the 2019-20 champions, will face 13-time winners Real Madrid in a horror draw.
Crucially for English teams, they were kept apart in the draw meaning there is the chance all THREE could make it to the semis.
The first-leg of the quarter-finals will be played on April 6 and 7, with the return legs a week later on April 13 and 14.
The draw for the semi-finals was also conducted on Friday morning.

For years, the English and Spanish top flights have tussled for supremacy in the race to be considered the best league in the world.
But if this season was a boxing match, Spain would have thrown in the towel long ago.
Premier League sides have come up against Spanish opposition SIX times in the Champions League and Europa League this term.
And, thanks to some incredible showings from Manchester United and Chelsea, England are 11-0 up on their rivals.
Chelsea beat Sevilla 4-0 away in the Champions League group stage in December having drawn October’s reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge 0-0.
Man Utd then thumped Real Sociedad 4-0 – again in Spain – in the first-leg of their Europa League last-32 showdown on February 18.
Five days later, Chelsea edged past LaLiga leaders Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano.
United then drew 0-0 with Sociedad in the second-leg of their last-32 European tie.

And now Chelsea are basking in the glory of reaching their first Champions League quarter-final in SEVEN years after completing a 3-0 aggregate win over Atleti thanks to a comfortable 2-0 win at home on Wednesday.
That means, in total, Premier League sides have scored 11 unanswered goals against their LaLiga rivals.
Spain now have just ONE team left in the Champions League with Real Madrid flying the flag.
Meanwhile, England have three representatives thanks to Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.
LaLiga have two teams left in the Europa League ahead of the second-leg of the last-16 ties, with Granada leading Molde 2-0 ahead of their away leg and Villarreal defending a 2-0 lead of their own at home to Dynamo Kiev.
England still have three teams left in the competition, too.
Man Utd head to the San Siro after a 1-1 first-leg draw against AC Milan, while Arsenal and Tottenham are strong favourites to progress.
Arsenal beat Olympiacos 3-1 in Greece, while Spurs beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 in North London last week.

How Chelsea lined up last time they got into Champions League quarter-final including David Luiz and Samuel Eto’o

CHELSEA booked their place in the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in SEVEN years on Wednesday night. The Blues beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to breeze past the LaLiga leaders 3-0 on aggregate.

Incredibly, the victory ended a seven-year wait for a place in the last-eight.
Chelsea last featured in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite competition in the 2013-14 season.
That year, the Blues reached the semi-finals where they lost to Atleti – who set up an all-Madrid final, ultimately losing to Real after extra-time.
That season, the Londoners, then under the leadership of Jose Mourinho, took on Paris Saint-Germain in the last-eight in what turned out to be a thrilling tie.
The Blues lost the first leg 3-1 in Paris with Eden Hazard’s penalty ultimately proving crucial.
Returning to Stamford Bridge for the second leg, Andre Schurrle gave the hosts a huge boost with his goal after just half an hour.
But as the match wore on, Chelsea edged closer and closer to an exit, still needing to score one more to progress on away goals – all the while hoping PSG didn’t find the net themselves.
And in the 87th-minute, Demba Ba’s scrambled effort saw the Blues edge past the French giants to reach the semi-finals as Mourinho sprinted down the touchline to celebrate with his players.

There are just TWO still at Chelsea from that famous night at Stamford Bridge, with sporting director Petr Cech and current club captain Cesar Azpilicueta in the starting XI for the second-leg.
They were joined by Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill and John Terry in defence.
Frank Lampard – who was sacked as boss earlier this year having led the Blues into the knockout stages – started in one of two deeper midfield roles alongside David Luiz.
Oscar started in the No10 position with Willian and Hazard on the wings.
Samuel Eto’o led the line that evening as Chelsea battled past a PSG side boasting Edinson Cavani, Lucas Moura and current Blues defender Thiago Silva.
Following Wednesday night’s win, SunSport conducted our very own mock Champions League quarter-final draw.
And in a bizarre twist, Chelsea came out of the hat alongside PSG yet again in what could be a tasty tie.
Elsewhere, Liverpool and Manchester City were drawn together, with Real Madrid set to take on Bayern Munich in an almighty showdown.

Sergio Aguero vs Olivier Giroud: Goals, trophies and injury record for veteran Chelsea transfer target and current star

SERGIO AGUERO could complete a shock move to Chelsea this summer with his contract at Manchester City close to expiring. The Argentine club legend, 32, has found minutes hard to come by this season under Pep Guardiola.
How Aguero and Giroud compare ahead of summer transfer window
Aguero has played just eight times in the Premier League this season – scoring only once.
The former Atletico Madrid star has struggled with injuries, but Guardiola appears to prefer playing a false nine, with the likes of Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan all deployed in attack this term.
With his career at City seemingly finally over after ten years and FOUR Premier League titles, Aguero is keen to stay in England.
And Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel – a big fan of Aguero during his time as Paris Saint-Germain manager – is considered a shock free swoop this summer.
Mega-money 2020 signing Timo Werner has failed to inspire as a centre-forward this season, with Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud often preferred centrally.
But with Giroud out of contract this summer, Tuchel has a big decision to make.
The French veteran, 34, has been Chelsea’s most-dangerous forward in fits and spurts in the past 18 months – with his amazing recent bicycle kick against Atletico Madrid a prime example.
And Tuchel is unlikely to allow him to leave unless he brings in a replacement.

So could Aguero be the man to take over Giroud’s mantle as the senior pro at Stamford Bridge?
Despite being two years Giroud’s junior, Aguero has played more club matches during his career.
The Argentine has scored 381 goals in his 674 games for Independiente, Atletico Madrid and Man City.
Giroud isn’t far behind though, boasting 234 goals in his 575 games for Tours, Grenoble, Montpellier and Chelsea.
The Frenchman is marginally ahead of his potential rival based on international games, with 44 goals in 105 games to Aguero’s 41 goals in 97 games.
Giroud, crucially, won the World Cup with France in 2018, with Aguero failing to taste glory with Argentina.
Chelsea are eyeing up a shock swoop for Sergio Aguero on a free transfer this summerCredit: AP
Olivier Giroud is out of contract at Chelsea this summer with the Blues set to turn to Aguero
On the club trophy front, Aguero has won 15 trophies, including four Premier League crowns.
Giroud has won nine competitions, but has surprisingly failed to win the Premier League despite his time at Arsenal and Chelsea.
The forward did manage to win the Ligue 1 title with Montpellier in their 2011-12 giant-killing season.
Any potential summer deal could come down to the pair’s injury history.
Giroud has missed 285 days of action during his long career – and has remained injury free so far in 2020-21 having missed 78 days last term.
Aguero, meanwhile, has missed a staggering 608 days during his career, including 75 days this season.
And having missed 189 days last season, Tuchel would be right to be wary of Aguero’s ability to stay fit in the final years of his playing days.

Chelsea icon Joe Cole names Erling Haaland as the one player Thomas Tuchel MUST sign to ‘add sparkle of magic’

CHELSEA icon Joe Cole has claimed Thomas Tuchel MUST sign Erling Haaland this summer to add a much-needed ‘sparkle of magic’.
The Blues slumped to a disappointing 0-0 draw at Leeds with the goals drying up under new boss Thomas Tuchel.

Since the German took over, Chelsea have scored just 13 goals in 12 games in all competition.
Natural strikers Timo Werner, Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud have all struggled to find the net with any regularity this season.
And Stamford Bridge icon Cole has revealed Tuchel can fix his problems this summer with a move for magical Borussia Dortmund ace Haaland.
Even before Saturday’s Elland Road stalemate, Cole told BT Sport: “They need one player for me, Haaland. He’s on the wish-list.

“He’s a No9. There’s so much in this squad, there’s quality in all areas, such a strong squad.
“You just need that one sparkle of magic, that No9, that focal point…
“It will change this club getting back to the glory days of challenging for the title regularly.”
Haaland is valued at over £100million by Dortmund, but is believed to have a release clause in his contract allowing him to leave for just £63m – with that only coming into effect next summer.

Rio Ferdinand – Cole’s fellow BT Sport pundit – agreed Chelsea need an elite No9, but stopped short of name-dropping Haaland, who is also a target for his old club, Manchester United.
Ferdinand said: “I think they’ll have to add still, they need to add in areas to do that.
“The No9 area maybe? Someone who is going to be potent and score a lot of goals.
“They’ve come in here not scoring as many goals as in the previous regime.
“I think that will have to change in time but they’ve only conceded two goals.
“It’s a big difference but they do need to maybe invest. It’s a fantastic squad.”
