THOMAS TUCHEL was left shocked after being told Chelsea had pulled out of the European Super League live on Sky Sports. The proposed tournament was devastated on Tuesday night after ALL six Premier League clubs withdrew following an epic fan backlash.

Chelsea were the first English club to announce the decision, with Manchester City following suit before the remaining four later joined them.
But as the drama unfolded, Chelsea’s squad were left in the dark as they were stranded on the team bus ahead of their game at Brighton.
Shortly before kick-off in the 0-0 draw, Blues chief Tuchel was asked for his thoughts on the club pulling out.
Clearly surprised by the news, Tuchel – live on Sky Sports – said: “Nothing… I spent the last 45 minutes on the bus.
“No, I don’t know anything about that.”
Tuchel went on to give a passionate backing to the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
The German boss continued: “What I know, and this is my personal opinion, is that I am at a super-competitive club.
“That’s why I’m here and that’s why I was so excited to join this club.

“I trust the club to know it’s all about competition.
“This is what I feel – and the dressing room. This is what I feel at Cobham.
“This is what everybody feels when they watch the team play.”
Tuchel explained: “We were fighting so so hard to go to the Champions League semi-final.
“We were giving everything in the FA Cup – the oldest, most traditional cup.
“We were giving everything – we left our heart and soul on the pitch to make it to the final.
    “So we are competitive.
“I’m not aware of any of the politics – I was not aware, I’m still not aware.
“I don’t know enough. I trust the club to take decisions [knowing] that we embrace competitive sport.”

Meanwhile, the European Super League have released a statement claiming the tournament will still go ahead despite clubs dropping like flies.
As well as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham, reports claim AC Milan and Inter Milan have also withdrawn their interest.
Other reports have suggested Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are considering their stance.
That would leave just Juventus and Real Madrid as the only two founder members after TEN quit.

Timo Werner leads Chelsea in goal involvements after assist vs Man City despite criticism of big-money transfer

TIMO WERNER may appear to have struggled at Stamford Bridge since arriving from RB Leipzig in a Ā£48million deal. However, the Chelsea forward has remarkably been directly involved in 19 goals in all competitions this season – more than other player at the club.

Werner has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists for his team-mates – three more than any other Blues star.
The German international helped provide the breakthrough for Hakim Ziyech against Manchester City on Saturday, after making a darting run and delivering a cross to find the Moroccan to tap into an empty net.
And since former PSG coach Thomas Tuchel has arrived in West London, Werner has had an upturn in fortunes.
Initially, many labelled Werner a flop after a number of glaring misses became the norm for the shot-shy striker.
Even for Germany things weren’t any better – when he was ridiculed for missing a sitter against North Macedonia in a shock 2-1 defeat.
Last week, there were even calls that Werner should be taken out of the firing line and dropped by Tuchel by pundit Clinton Morrison.
He told BBC 5 Live: “Chelsea have got other attacking options ā€“ it just depends on how long Tuchel wants to stick with Timo Werner.
“Listen, Werner is not a bad player. You donā€™t become a bad player overnight.
“Itā€™s just at the moment, heā€™s getting into positions and not being clinical.

“Maybe he needs a bit of time out of the team and he can make an impact coming off the bench.”
Back in March, Werner faced the wrath of his manager against Everton , when Tuchel was overheard berating him for playing out of position for 15 minutes.
However, he has stood by his fellow countryman, despite the criticism that’s come Werner’s way, and it seems rightly so.

Tammy Abraham left OUT of Chelseaā€™s FA Cup squad to face Manchester City in latest snub from boss Thomas Tuchel

TAMMY ABRAHAM has been left out of Chelsea’s squad for their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.Despite being fully fit and the competition’s top scorer with four goals in three matches – there is no place for him in Thomas Tuchel’s picks.
Tammy Abraham has been left out of Chelsea’s squad for their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester CityCredit: Rex

The striker has not featured for Chelsea since February 20 where he was subbed at half-time in a 1-1 draw with Southampton.
Abraham, 23, has been frozen out of the first-team picture after recovering from an ankle injury.
The striker was an unused substitute against Crystal Palace and in both Champions League quarter-final legs against Porto.
Abraham is understood to be upset at his lack of game time under Tuchel and could be ready to move on.
He was a fixture under former manager Frank Lampard, and scored 18 goals last season.
The England striker is still the clubā€™s top scorer this season with 12 goals, despite being frozen out since Tuchel took charge in January.
But the German warned Abraham, who faces missing out on a place in England Euro squad, that there is no easy way back into the Blues line up.
    Tuchel said:Ā ā€œI donā€™t think heā€™s the top scorer since I arrived.

“So I can only judge what I see and what we have together from the first minute when I arrived.
ā€œI have seen a bright young man in front of me. A guy who is self-confident, who has a lot of talent.
ā€œBut it cannot be that in a period of such good results that suddenly the guys who donā€™t play are the winners.
ā€œThis cannot be. Because first of all, you need to be in the squad and if you are in a winning squad, you have your part in this winning squad.
ā€œAnd it cannot be that sometimes the people who donā€™t make it to the squad are in the end the winners, although the team is winning many games. This is not logical to me.
ā€œWe are aware that he scored, we are aware that he scored a lot in the cup.
Thomas Tuchel warned Tammy Abraham there is no easy way back into the Blues line upCredit: PA
ā€œWe had some tactical changes he had to accept. We accept that he was injured.
“OK, so now itā€™s a difficult time to try things out because while he is injured the engine keeps on running.”
Abraham’s current deal expires in two years, but with Chelsea rumoured to be in the market for a new striker, there has been no talk of a contract extension.
Erling Haaland, 20, and Sergio Aguero, 32, and Romelu Lukaku, 27, are among the names the Blues have been linked with.
It leaves Abraham’s future uncertain, having already been overlooked for Timo Werner, 25, Kai Havertz, 21, and Olivier Giroud, 34.

Chelsea have NEVER lost to Real Madrid in three meetings in good omen ahead of Champions League clash

CHELSEA should head into their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid full of confidence if history has anything to do with it.The Blues are unbeaten in all three competitive games they have played against the Spanish giants.

Thomas Tuchel’s side lost 1-0 against Porto in the second leg of their quarter-final clash on Tuesday.
But a 2-0 win in their first clash – that was played in Spain – saw the Londoners through to face Zinedine Zidane’s Los Blancos.
Boss Tuchel should get his squad to read through the history books to give them a boost.
The two side have faced each other three times previously, Chelsea winning two and drawing one.
The last time they played was on August 28, 1998 in the Uefa Super Cup, with Chelsea triumphing 1-0.
Gus Poyet scored the only goal of the game with an 83rd-minute winner for Gianluca Vialli’s side.
In 1971 the two teams met in the Uefa European Cup Winners Cup.
The first game finished 1-1 with the sides unable to be separated after extra-time. Peter Osgood fired the Blues 1-0 up on 56 minutes but Zoco sent the game to a replay with a 90th-minute equaliser.

But it was Dave Sexton’s boys celebrating in the second game with goals from John Dempsey and Osgood again securing a 2-1 triumph.
Sebastian Fleitas netted a consolation for the Spaniards.
Real Madrid set up a fourth meeting against Chelsea after they eased their way past Liverpool.
A 3-1 Bernabeu win saw the Premier League champions with it all to do – and they failed to fire in a 0-0 second-leg draw.

Varane, Kounde, Milenkovic, Gimenez: Which defenders Man Utd and Chelsea should sign in summer transfer window

MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea are desperate to add a touch of class to their defensive ranks this summer. Both Premier League giants boast exceptionally strong squads.
How Milenkovic, Varane, Kounde and Gimenez compare in the league in 2020-21
But both also have a glaring weakness: their centre-backs.
At United, Harry Maguire has been crying out for a strong, long-term partner with Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe all rotating alongside him with mixed results.
In Chelsea’s case, Antonio Rudiger has seen his Stamford Bridge career saved, with Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma also impressing.
Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta are coming towards the end of their careers, with Fikayo Tomori likely to make his loan deal at AC Milan permanent this summer.
Now the Blues are set to join Man Utd in diving into the transfer market to add some star quality.
Both clubs have been linked with FOUR big names: Raphael Varane, Jules Kounde, Nikola Milenkovic and Jose Gimenez.
But which of the European superstars has enjoyed the best season? We take a look at the league stats for all four…
    NIKOLA MILENKOVIC
Giant centre-back Nikola Milenkovic has popped up on a number of clubs’ radar this seasonCredit: EPA
    Age: 23
    Club: Fiorentina
    Trophies won: 3
    Estimated cost: Ā£30m
THE Serbian star has emerged as a potential transfer target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs in recent months.
Milenkovic has impressed despite Fiorentina sitting way down in 15th in Serie A – winning just seven of their 30 matches.
With the Viola struggling, the 6ft 5in defender will surely be desperate for a move and will be available for just Ā£30m.
Milenkovic has won three trophies in his career – all in Serbia with Partizan – and is yet to win a tournament while playing for a Big Five leagues team.
Out of the four defenders, Milenkovic has played more games – and more minutes – than any other this season.
The Serbian has also won the most tackles and aerial duels per 90 minutes – as well as boasting the best aerial duel success rate.
Milenkovic has also scored more than his three rivals, with three Serie A goals this term.

    RAPHAEL VARANE
Raphael Varane has a little over a year left on his Real Madrid contract and could be sold this summerCredit: Reuters
    Age: 27
    Club: Real Madrid
    Trophies won: 19
    Estimated cost: Ā£60m
THE biggest name on the list, Varane would be a major coup for any side in the world.
Real Madrid could lose Varane AND Sergio Ramos this summer as they battle the financial effects of coronavirus while saving money for mega-money moves for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
The French legend is out of contract at the end of NEXT season and could walk away for free.
Desperate to avoid that fate, Madrid could cash-in this summer for a staggeringly good-value Ā£60m – when you consider Maguire cost United Ā£85m.
Varane has won 19 major trophies in his career, including three LaLiga crowns, four Champions League titles and the 2018 World Cup with France.
In terms of head-to-head stats, Varane leads only in tackling success rate, having won 65 per cent of his ground duels.
    JULES KOUNDE
Jules Kounde has become one of the most in-demand centre-backs in Europe in recent monthsCredit: EPA
    Age: 22
    Club: Sevilla
    Trophies won: 1
    Estimated cost: Ā£50m
KOUNDE has emerged almost from nowhere to become one of Europe’s hottest properties.
The Sevilla star has continued to impress in recent months and is now being chased by Europe’s elite, including Real Madrid to replace Varane and or/Ramos.
Still young, Kounde has just the one trophy to his name – the 2019-20 Europa League, when he was also named in the tournament’s Squad of the Season.
But he has all the talent to catch up with the likes of Varane, and even leads the quartet in terms of minutes per goals, conceded, clean sheets and interceptions per 90 minutes.
    JOSE GIMENEZ
Jose Gimenez could finally leave Atletico Madrid after eight years, with Chelsea keenCredit: EPA
    Age: 26
    Club: Atletico Madrid
    Trophies won: 5
    Estimated cost: Ā£54m
STILL young but also with plenty of experience, it’s little wonder clubs are chasing Gimenez.
The Uruguayan has spent eight years at Atleti, winning the 2017-18 Europa League among other gongs.
Gimenez was also a losing finalist in TWO Champions League campaigns – in 2013-14 and 2015-16.
Compared to his rivals, Gimenez leads only in goals conceded, letting in just 12 goals – however he has played substantially less than Varane, Kounde and Milenkovic.

Rafael van der Vaart brands Chelsea striker Timo Werner a ā€˜blind horseā€™ and urges Tuchel to drop him for Ziyech

FORMER Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart has urged Thomas Tuchel to drop Timo Werner as he branded the Chelsea striker as a ‘blind horse’.The ex-Holland international, 38, believes the Blues boss should start Hakim Ziyech ahead of the German centre-forward as he hit out at the 25-year-old.

Despite chipping in with an impressive nine Premier League assists this term, Werner has struggled in front of goal since joining from RB Leipzig.
He has found the back of the net just five times in 29 top-flight appearances, with the player scoring just once since November 7.
Werner was dropped to the bench for Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg clash against Porto where the West Londoners advanced through to the last four.
And Van der Vaart – who fired in 28 goals in 77 Spurs appearances between 2010 and 2012 – has declared Werner should stay out of the Chelsea team.
Speaking to Dutch TV station Ziggo Sport, he said: “If I was Thomas Tuchel I would always pick Hakim Ziyech, simply because he is the best option by far.
“He can cut inside and create chances, as can Mason Mount.Ā That is what Olivier Giroud needs.
“Timo Werner is super fast, and maybe that is something good to have in an away game when Chelsea are under pressure.
“But all he does is put his head down and run himself to death.

“Mount is a terrific footballer, and I think he can get even better, but Werner is truly a blind horse.
“He already showed that’s what he is like when he played in Germany – and he’s doing it again now.”
Meanwhile Arsenal icon Paul Merson has stated he is unsure whether Werner will ever succeed in England as he tipped Kai Havertz to show his class in the near future.
He told Sky Sports: “I really think he [Havertz] will be a superstar and in time to come, he will be special. Iā€™m not sure about Werner, though, I donā€™t think itā€™s working.”
Before adding: “Havertz, I can swallow that as he is a young kid. But this lad does things on the pitch and you are like, ‘really’?
“He will go down the wing and just cross it into the box when no-one is in there.
ā€œIā€™ve been disappointed with him to be honest and for me, I would try and see what I can do with him this summer.”

Chelsea star Christian Pulisic matches Lionel Messiā€™s 2011 Champions League foul record after brutal treatment by Porto

CHELSEA winger Christian Pulisic equalled Lionel Messi’s Champions League foul record against Porto on Tuesday after he was brought down 11 times. The 22-year-old put in a man of the match display against the Portuguese outfit as he helped the Blues advance into the last four of the European Cup.

Despite losing the second leg 1-0, the West Londoners secured their passage into the semi-finals for the first time since 2014 after winning 2-1 on aggregate.
And Pulisic stole the show at the Ramon Sanchez PizjuanĀ Stadium as he completed 100 per cent of his take-ons, won 16 duels and recovered the ball on seven occasions.
The American forward also drew more fouls than any other player in the Champions League since Lionel Messi in 2011.
Messi received brutal treatment from the Real Madrid squad during the semi-final second leg clash at the Nou Camp.
But just like Porto’s rough tactics on Pulisic, Real couldn’t stop Messi as the Blaugrana advanced into the final where they beat Manchester United at Wembley.
Pulisic has been in great form of late, with the ex-Borussia Dortmund ace scoring three goals in Chelsea’s last two Premier League games.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website following the 4-1 victory against Crystal Palace, Pulisic declared he is feeling back to his best.
He stated: “Personally I am feeling very good. I am happy to be playing and helping the team whichever way I can.
