Jake Paul loses $1000 to UFC rising star as he is stunned in boxing skill challenge

JAKE PAUL lost $1000 in a charity bet with UFC star Bo Nickal after the two engaged in a boxing challenge. The pair tested their reflexes with a reflex ball, a tennis ball which is connected to a boxers head by string.

The two engaged in a charity bet after Nickal’s interviewCredit: youtube / bo nickal
The aim is to keep the ball airborne for as long as possible by punching it in a manner akin to doing keepy-uppies in football.
The two were keen to point out that the challenge is not necessarily indicative of someone’s boxing ability before partaking in the challenge – but did say that it is a good way to test your reflexes.
Paul and Nickal put down a $1000 charity bet, with the loser set to pay the amount to Paul’s foundation Boxing Bullies.
Nickal managed to hit the ball eight times before dropping it, with Paul not able to watch in order to compare scores.

Paul only managed to hit the ball six times, ensuring he lost the charity bet.
But, both agreed that they would pay $1000 to the charity whose mission statement is to: “instil self confidence, leadership, and courage within the youth through the sport of boxing while using our platform, voice, and social media to fight back against bullying.”
The podcast episode was the latest insight we’ve got into Paul as he prepares to fight UFC legend Nate Diaz in Vegas this weekend.
Paul is in the surprising position of entering the fight as favourite – with Diaz not having a boxing background.
    Most read in Boxing
This being despite Diaz being a legend of MMA and UFC and doing more than most to put the sport on the map.
After the challenge the two discussed their philosophies as part of the Bo Gets Betr Podcast.
Paul explained how his dad is key in helping him stay motivated and continue to improve on his boxing game.
He said: “My dad says this and I’m going to steal this, shout out Greg Paul; ‘the road to success is always under construction so it’s always changing’ – some moments might be easier than others, some might be harder than others,”
He then continued: “Some days you might not be feeling great and others you might be feeling like ‘why the f*** am I under attack from the Universe?’
“And so you’re always going to be constantly changing and evolving but the No.1 thing is relentlessness. When you try to do something great, people are going to f***ing rip you down.
“They’ll tear you apart, that just comes with the critics and that is the biggest thing.
“You just have to have thick skin to push through all of that and remain committed to your goal and not let any of that get in your way – easier said than done, it kills most people. So are you made for this?
    Read More on The Sun
“Do you want to achieve your goal more than you want to mope about the critics and all the hard work and all the things that you have to do to get to your goal?
“That’s something that you have to come to terms with within your own mind and inspiration is a fleeting thing, it’s not always there.” More

When my kids ask how much I did to help when war was in Ukraine, I want to say I did my best, says Oleksandr Zinchenko

ARSENAL footballer Oleksandr Zinchenko is struggling to keep his emotions in check as he wrestles with the enormity of the horrors being inflicted on his homeland. The 26-year-old captain of Ukraine’s national side has not long returned from a visit to a school almost entirely destroyed by Russian missiles.

Pupils told him how President Vladimir Putin’s troops had raped and pillaged after marching into their homes.
Oleksandr, known as Alex, was in tears during the warm up before his first match following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Today he is expressing very different feelings.
Leaning forward, he told The Sun: “I’m angry even now, not just since the invasion. I am angry every single day.”
    Read More on Oleksandr Zinchenko
The question this footballing hero keeps asking himself is: How can he best help his country?
Alex had considered signing up to serve with Ukraine’s armed forces, but was persuaded that he could support his brave nation in other ways.
The eastern European country’s most famous current player is both raising awareness about the true cost of the war and funds to repair some of the shelled schools.
He will be the captain of one of the celebrity sides in the Game4Ukraine charity match taking place at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium in West London on August 5.

Alex’s team, who are lining up against one captained by Ukraine’s goalscoring legend Andriy Shevchenko, 46, will be managed by former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
    ‘I was in shock’
More than 800 schools have been badly damaged by Russian missiles, with 220 beyond repair.
Through the Game4Ukraine match Alex aims to raise enough money to rebuild the Mykhailo- Kotsiubynsky Lyceum in Chernihiv Oblast that he visited with Andriy just over a week ago.
This thoughtful young father explains: “I have a daughter who is nearly two and I hope to have another baby soon and I just want to do something good.
“Because when they grow up they will ask me, ‘Daddy, when this war was in our country, what did you do? How much did you help?’ I want to look in my kids’ eyes and say, ‘Well, me and your mum we were trying to do our best’.”
Alex’s daughter is called Eva, and his wife Vlada Sedan, 27, a football journalist, is pregnant with their second child.
The player is certainly doing his bit to make them proud.
This game is not just to raise funds, it is also to show the world we stick together, we are united, we feel your support, we know we are not alone.Oleksandr Zinchenko
He is an ambassador for United24, Ukraine’s official fundraising platform, helped organise humanitarian aid supplies and set up the charity Football for Ukraine to fund sporting projects for young people affected by the conflict.
The defender also had the day job of playing for Arsenal as they reached second place in the Premier League this season, the London side’s highest position since 2016.
Footballing commitments, which included captaining Ukraine in World Cup qualifying games last year, meant he had been unable to return to his homeland since Russia failed to take the capital Kyiv last April.
But the defender this month saw the price of Putin’s aggression for himself.
He said: “It is a completely different story when you see all these destroyed buildings by your eyes, rather than by your phone.
    “I can’t say it wasn’t scary.”
Mykhailo-Kotsiubynsky Lyceum is in an area in the north that was occupied by Russian troops for 33 days.
The building is a mangled mess, its windows blown out and ceilings draping down to the floorboards.
Alex continues: “We have seen the damage to this school. I spoke with the kids who study in this school and some of them saw Russian army in their houses, because they were so close to Chernihiv.
“Some of them were stealing, some of them were doing the other stuff, which I don’t really want to speak about. Honestly, I was in shock because kids, they cannot lie.”
He recognises the long-term impact on the mental health of Ukraine’s youth, some of whom are already displaying signs of PTSD.
Team Zinchenko play Team Shevchenko on August 5 at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge ground in West London
Alex adds: “I understand this is a big, big mental injury for them, living in war time.
“Imagine you are five, six, seven years old and someone comes to your house with the guns, this is already mental torture.”
But he also sees the positive power of the beautiful game.
Alex and Andriy, who played for AC Milan and Chelsea, had a kickabout with the kids during their visit.
He recalls: “They love football and when we were playing football together, me and Shevchenko, they were smiling, they were laughing.”
The Game4Ukraine is a way of harnessing the world’s obsession with the sport to give those children hope for a better future.
Alex says: “We have no option, we have to move forward.”
The two 11-a-side teams taking part in Game4Ukraine, which will be broadcast live on Sky, will feature ex-players and showbiz talent.
The line-up is yet to be named, but Alex will have to captain from the sidelines due to an injury.
Born in Radomyshl, 60 miles west of Kyiv, his talent on the field took him to Shakhtar Donetsk, where he became captain of the youth team.
He was forced to leave in 2014 after marauding troops backed by Putin waged war in and around Donetsk.
The football team, once one of the best in Europe, were not able to give him game time due to the upheaval and his parents took him to what they thought would be the safety of Russia.
In 2016 he was snapped up by Manchester City, where he won four Premier League titles.
Alex was part of manager Pep Guardiola’s side when Putin expanded his attack to the whole of Ukraine in February 2022.

He moved to Arsenal last summer for £32million.
Alex has been lifted by the backing of the British people.
He said: “After one week of the invasion, kids in Manchester came to me and they said, ‘Alex, we are all with you, with your people’. They were ten years old, they really understood.”
But Alex cannot understand why Putin started this bloody war, in which more than 60,000 Russian and Ukrainian forces are estimated to have been killed.
Throughout the interview he puts his hands together and stretches, as if his whole being is straining to comprehend this outrage against humanity.
He is supposed to be talking about football, but the only thing on his mind are the atrocities being carried out by what he describes as “Russian terrorists”.
There are many questions, including: “For what? They came to our land, to occupy?
Alex also asks why Putin’s forces drop missiles on civilian targets or why they destroyed a dam last week, leading to the flooding of 29 towns and villages.
But he has great faith in the inspirational President Volodymyr Zelensky, who the footballer met during his recent trip.
Alex declares: “We are independent, we have our president, we have our people.”
He is grateful for the military aid being offered by PM Rishi Sunak, saying: “I would like to say to the Prime Minister massive thanks for the help we have received.”
That solidarity is vital to the ongoing effort of the Ukrainian people to assert their right to freedom.
Game4Ukraine will help to spread the message of unity.

Alex concludes: “It is a great idea to organise this game not just to raise the funds, it is also to show the world we stick together, we are united, and we are all in the same situation. We feel your support, we know we are not alone and it is so important for us and for all Ukranians.”

But forgetting on pitch results, since becoming owners in 2020 they have endeared themselves to the fanbase with their investment into the community.
And the latest wholesome tale from the Reynolds-McElhenney ownership has left the community “overwhelmed with happiness”.
The pair donated £5,000 towards a charity match between members of Wrexham Police and FC United of Wrexham, Amateur and Futsal teams respectively.
The two sides, who are set to play on July 1, has the goal of raising money for the children’s ward at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

The JustGiving page had initially set a target of £5,000.
However, given the donation of the Wrexham owners, the target has now doubled.
Chairman, co-founder and manager at FC United of Wrexham Andrew Ruscoe told the PA news agency: “We didn’t expect it.
“I just went on social media and people were going wild.

“When I saw the donation from Ryan and Rob, I was absolutely overwhelmed with happiness.”
On the donation message with the username “RR McReynolds”, Reynolds and McElhenney simply said: “Up The Town,” alongside a flag emoji.
Deadpool star Reynolds has also donated to the football and futsal club in the past.
In March he donated £1,600 for new kits for the Under 12 team, while also donning a club shirt.
Mr Ruscoe revealed: “Having his continued support is surreal really.
“I know the police would echo this, and the community too – we just can’t thank them enough and I think this recent donation signifies that they both truly care about the Wrexham community and the people within it.”
The ward has been visited on a number of occasions by members of the club, including at Easter and Christmas, with April seeing children handed Easter eggs.
Mr Ruscoe said: “(Staff there) have been really excited and want us to go in for a photoshoot and the police.
“They said diolch, which means thanks in Welsh, to express how thankful they are.”
He explained the ward was “close to my heart” because the “fantastic” staff have helped children, including his daughter, when they have been “poorly”.
“It was where my daughter went when she was poorly and had breathing issues,” he explained.
“She’s fine now – and my son went there when he had suspected kidney issues. He’s got his final check soon, but the staff have been fantastic.”
Mr Ruscoe also revealed training ahead of the match was going well.
He added: “The lads are raring to go.
“They know they’re up against some tough opponents as the Wrexham Police have got some good ex-semi-professionals in their squad, but we are not going to be pushovers.
“Kickoff will be at 10.30am hopefully and and we’re hoping to get a good crowd at Bronwen’s Green and raise more vital funds for the children’s ward because they fully deserve it.”
Wrexham Police Sergeant Dave Smith expressed his gratitude towards Reynolds and McElhenney ahead of the match.
He said: “It really will help make a positive difference to the lives of many children from across the area.
“Behind our uniform we’re just like everyone else, my children have needed to use the children’s ward numerous times, the specialist care and staff are truly fantastic.
“We hope that with the money raised they will be able to continue to provide care and support for patients and their families when they need it most.”
If you wish to donate, the JustGiving page can be found HERE.

Watch Leeds fan pay £500 for Man Utd hospitality tickets at charity auction – just to set them on FIRE on stage

THIS is the shocking moment a Leeds fan paid £500 for Manchester United hospitality tickets at a charity auction – just to set them on fire on stage. The corporate hospitality tickets were struggling to get past the £100 mark until the man’s bid pushed them up to £500, on the condition he could burn them.
A Leeds fan paid £500 for Man Utd hospitality tickets – only to set them on fireCredit: Danny Waite
The audience cheered as the fans held up the flaming ticketsCredit: Danny Waite
In a video, the fan – believed to support the Red Devils’ rivals’ Leeds – can be seen taking a lighter to the corner of the tickets before they go up in flames.
He then places the tickets into a bucket that he raises up to show the hall, hailed with football chants and cheering from the audience.
The winning bidder was attending a charity ball at Queens Hotel in Leeds on Saturday night in memory of Sharon Witcher, a mum who passed away two years ago from cancer.
Danny Waite, 32, from Leeds, posted the video to Twitter where it swiftly went viral.
    Read More Football
He said: “It was a good night. That was one of the auction prizes, two tickets to Manchester United Corporate Hospitality Experience.
“So the Leeds fan bought it and just set fire to it. I know he loves a lot of Leeds games, he’s a big fan.
    Most read in The Sun
“There weren’t many United fans bidding on them.
“There were two bids previously at like £50 and then £100.
“It was stuck at £100 for quite a while and then he shouted out £500, and said ‘I’ll give you £500 to burn them’.
“So obviously, as it’s a charity event the auctioneer just said yes.

He added: “Everyone was cheering, there were a lot of Leeds fans in the room.
“It was quite funny and it was £500 going straight to charity so obviously everyone was quite jovial.
“A lad that I played football with, his mum died two years ago so we do it every year to raise money for St. Gemma’s.”
This bid made up part of the final £27,000 which was raised on the night for St. Gemma’s Hospice.
One person commented on Danny’s video: “500 quid goes to charity. Don’t see the problem.”
    Another said: “Fully endorse this.”
A third wrote: “Gets them to print them off again once he’s sobered up.”
But a less-than-impressed social media user said: “Wow, the mentality of a toddler. Bitter.”
A spokesperson for St Gemma’s Hospice said: “We are aware that one of our incredible supporters organised her annual charity ball in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice this weekend, in memory of her mum.

“The Hospice were not involved with any of the fundraising on the night with this being her own event, and we do not know the guest in question.
“The event raised over £20,000 for the Hospice last year, every penny of which is used to benefit local patients with life threatening illnesses and support their families.” More

The school kids were selling raffle tickets in his Edgware neighbourhood when the 21-year-old, who lives in the area, decided to help out by buying a ticket.
Martinelli was then the lucky winner of the £100 voucher for kosher supermarket chain Sheffa Mehadrin.

The raffle is just the latest thing that has gone Martinelli’s way this season as he enjoys his best year yet at the Emirates.
