A blue flare struck the back windscreen of the motor
Smith and husband Michael Wynn-Jones’ grey BMW were driven into the Portman Road car park protected by a police escort as the authorities held back the home fans.
And while many were content to make an intimidating atmosphere with chanting and blue flares, one yob attacked the vehicle with a lager tin that landed on the bonnet while a flare struck the back windscreen.
Delia was then photographed after the ordeal walking from her car into the stadium in conversation with another lady, thought to be a member of staff at Ipswich.
It is understood Smith’s car directly followed the Norwich team bus to the stadium.

And that meant she got a very hostile reception – just like the coach in front.
Ipswich fans arrived in their thousands to get there early for the crunch clash.
The Tractor Boys are loving life under former Manchester United assistant boss Kieran McKenna.
The 37-year-old ex-Tottenham youngster took over two years ago today and immediately sparked a dramatic turnaround for Ipswich.

The club missed out on the 2021-22 play-offs but won promotion last term – thanks in part to a 19-game winning run.
And the Suffolk side are enjoying a stunning first season back in the Championship.
Their 51-point haul from their first 21 matches of the season broke the record for the best start to a Championship campaign – only for it to be beaten by league leaders Leicester 24 hours later on Wednesday night.
Ipswich headed into the derby showdown one point behind the Foxes and knew victory would see them leapfrog Enzo Maresca’s side as they take on Birmingham on Monday night.
McKenna’s side took the lead on 34 minutes before Norwich battled back with a Jonathan Rowe double either side of half-time.
But Wes Burns struck on the hour mark to seal a 2-2 draw – but it was not enough for Ipswich to reclaim top spot as they trail Leicester on goal difference having played a game extra.

This summer was the worst I’ve had but now Southampton are in the mix for promotion back to the Premier League

ADAM ARMSTRONG is hungry for a quick Premier League return — but right now is loving the Championship. The Southampton striker wants to see himself back on the same stage as superstars such as Erling Haaland and Mo Salah.
Adam Armstrong and Southampton are on fire in the Championship
Saints striker Adam Armstrong is loving that goalscoring feeling again
But, in the second tier, the Saints have found that winning feeling again and Armstrong is enjoying his best season since he was at Blackburn, who visit St Mary’s on Saturday.
Southampton go into the game 13 unbeaten — a huge contrast from the 25 losses in 38 top-flight matches last season as they finished bottom.
Armstrong is scoring regularly too — an impressive 12 from 21 matches compared to the four in 53 Prem outings as a Saint.
And he loves not having to wait for the wretched VAR before being able to celebrate goals.
    read more football news
He laughed: “It’s heaven as a striker not having to stop and wait to see if you’re offside. You can just celebrate.
“It’s been a good start individually and, although the team went through a tough spell of four straight defeats in September, the team are now in a good place.
“We’ve come out of that hard period better for it and our aim is simple — promotion.
“Leicester and Ipswich have had incredible starts. Never in Championship history have the top two clubs collected the amount of points they have at this stage — but we can only focus on ourselves and, hopefully come May, we’ll be in the top two.”

The Saints are only two points behind what last season’s runaway champions Burnley had after 21 games — yet still find themselves fourth and 11 points behind second-placed Ipswich and 12 back from leaders Leicester.
But Armstrong, 26, said: “That’s what you want — fierce competition and quality in a league. It shows how far the Championship has come from 10 to 15 years ago.
“There are some top teams and players. A lot are getting good moves from it too. If you have a good season, Premier League and European clubs can snap you up.”
The last time Armstrong was in the Championship three seasons ago he smashed 28 goals for Blackburn — his career-best campaign. And that earned him his £15million move to the south coast.
But although the striker is back in the second tier, he believes Russell Martin, who took charge in the summer, has created an environment for the Saints to thrive.
Adam Armstrong chats with our man Justin Allen at Southampton’s training ground
Even when the team got thumped 5-0 at Sunderland and 4-1 at home to Leicester in September, there was no panic from Martin, who was adamant the pain was a necessary consequence of his players transitioning to his way of playing.
And that filtered positively into the squad.
Armstrong said: “It’s how the gaffer is as a man. He treats the lads brilliantly. He has all the players on-side and put down a marker in the summer with his staff on how they wanted us to play, which is vastly different to last season.
“You must be brave on the ball, which we’re enjoying, and you’re now seeing a togetherness which wasn’t there last season.
“The manager has brought in players who he previously worked with and know his style — and many lads have left too.
“But the new boys have hit the ground running and everyone is getting on. There’s such a chemistry we want to hang out together away from football too, along with our families. That makes things even better.
“When we went through that bad spell, we were confident of turning things around because of our togetherness. The big defeats didn’t effect us as it doesn’t matter if you lose 1-0 or 5-0, losing is losing.
Adam Armstrong has 12 goals from 21 games so far this seasonSaints are up to scratchADAM ARMSTRONG has revealed that the Saints are not only up to scratch on the football field this season … but on the golf course too.

The striker loves swapping his shooting boots for a set of clubs with his team-mates and is currently playing off a handicap of four.
But Armstrong is nowhere near the best golfers at St Mary’s.
He said: “We’ve had a few golf days and there are a few in the group who are very good scratch golfers.“
Alex McCarthy is up there and Ryan Fraser is off scratch but I’ve not faced him yet. Alex is the best I’ve played.
“Golf is great. It helps keep me sane.”

“We just stuck to what the gaffer wanted and kept plugging away. There was also a willingness to learn and that has ultimately helped us.”
One of the summer signings yet to stamp his mark is fellow striker Ross Stewart.
The Scottish ace arrived to much fanfare when completing his £8million move from Sunderland — but after recovering from an ELEVEN-MONTH Achilles injury lay-off he must now sit out until at least mid-January after just two sub outings.
Armstrong said: “It’s devastating for Ross because he worked so hard to get back fit. It’s a huge blow.
“Football can be a lonely place when you’re injured but all the lads and staff have got around him. That sort of support makes things 100 times better — but Ross is such a positive guy and we’ll see him back soon.”
Many of the Saints players have had to get used to the relentless fixture schedule since relegation.
And Armstrong said: “Some of the boys have never played in this league, which is one of the hardest to get out of, so it was important for me to give them as much advice as I could.
The environment at Southampton is so much more positive now
“You often have a game every three or four days so it’s about how you prepare your body, recover and what you eat and drink. Recovery is the best thing … and sleeping.”
Fortunately, Armstrong has been able to sleep well despite he and his wife Rebecca having a 19-month old son Axel — although they are expecting their second child, a daughter, in March.
Not only was relegation a tough pill to swallow — but also seeing some top talent leave St Mary’s
The departures of Romeo Lavia (Chelsea), James Ward-Prowse (West Ham) and Tino Livramento (Newcastle) were the highest profile — while Nathan Tella, who enjoyed a brilliant last season on loan in the Championship at Burnley, landed himself a move to current Bundesliga leaders Borussia Leverkusen.
But rather than mourning the loss of Premier League football and their star players, Armstrong believes that must serve as extra motivation for those left behind.
He said: “This summer was the worst I’ve had. When we first came back for pre-season, we didn’t have a manager either.
“Then some of the lads had to leave. Some deserve to be in the top division because of what they’ve done but we do miss them.
“Yet the squad we have right now must live up to that.
“We need to get to where those boys got to — and that is the Premier League. The pinnacle is what we must strive for.”
Armstrong has had two previous stabs at the top-flight. Along with the two campaigns he had with Saints, he also had his breakthrough season with his beloved boyhood club Newcastle.
And he said: “I’ve played under five different managers in the Premier League — Alan Pardew and John Carver at Newcastle then Ralph Hasenhuttl, Nathan Jones and Ruben Seles at Southampton.
“You learn so much when you’re experiencing so many different playing styles and ways of working under various managers.
“And the Premier League is the best in the world for a reason. You’re up against world-class players every week and you’re getting punished if you’re not on your game.
    Read more on The Sun
“The biggest thing is confidence. You’ve got to put away your chances at that level because they’re few and far between.
“Since dropping back to the Championship, I understand how big it is to play in the Premier League and I want to get back there with Southampton.” More

I was kicking about in League Two in 2021, now I’m dreaming of the Premier League with high-flying Ipswich

VACLAV HLADKY dreamed since he was a young boy in the Czech Republic that he would become a Premier League keeper. And after Ipswich’s storming first half to the Championship season, the 6ft 4in stopper admits he has dreamt even more about following in the footsteps of legendary countrymen Petr Cech and Ludek Miklosko.
Ipswich keeper Vaclav Hladky has been one of the great stories of the club’s season so far in the Championship
While the Tractors Boys’ rapid journey from mid-table League One fodder to now having a big chance to win promotion to the Premier League has been remarkable — so have the change in fortunes for Hladky.
Just over two years ago he was plying his trade for Salford in League Two.
And the Czech ace, 33, could barely get into the Ipswich team in the third tier — having not started a league game since December 2021.
But since first-choice and last season’s League One Golden Glove winner Christian Walton got injured days before the season, Hladky has played every single minute.

His string of superb performances have helped the team into second, building an impressive 10-point lead over third-placed Leeds.
And he told SunSport: “I’m not going to lie, I’m over the moon with how it’s gone. It’s been fantastic. I’m enjoying myself — not just me but the whole team is.
‘We want to carry this on. We know where we are and know our strengths. We know we can do a lot more too.”

This weekend they entertain bitter rivals Norwich in the East Anglian derby — the first time the teams have met since February 2019.

When Hladky joined Ipswich they were two divisions below the then Premier League Canaries but today sit nine paces and 21 points above their foes.
The Czech star deserved his opportunity after being so patient playing second fiddle to Walton.
What is important is what you learn from losing. If you lose in a bad or an unfortunate way you always must learn and not repeat the mistakes you make. After a defeat we bounce back stronger.”VACLAV HLADKY
He said: “It was a tough one to be sure. Every keeper wants to play especially with this manager and in a team that’s doing well.
“When you see how much progress this team has made during the last two years, you want to be involved.
“But I’ve enjoyed working with the other keepers, the coaches and the rest of the team on the training pitch. Now it’s great I can put it all to good use on the pitch.”
No serious pundit tipped Ipswich to be an automatic promotion contender in the summer. In fact, you would have been hard pressed to find one that gave them a chance of challenging for a play-off spot.
But the Tractor Boys — along with Leicester — have been quite breathtaking.
There were question marks about the depth of their squad and how they would cope after suffering setbacks — but after losing to Leeds and then West Brom they have just bounced back by going on good winning runs again.
Vaclav Hladky has produced a string of top performances for the Tractor Boys
Hladky said: “The Championship is hard and we knew we weren’t ever going to win 46 games. You’re always going to lose matches.
“That’s the nature of football. There’ll be runs where you don’t win but what is important is what you learn from losing.
“If you lose in a bad way or an unfortunate way you always must learn and not repeat the mistakes you make. We’ve done well and always when after a defeat we bounce back even stronger.”
But surely even Hladky must be surprised how well the team have done in the Championship considering they were in League One only in May?
He said: “We played Burnley and Rotherham in the FA Cup last season and proved we could match those teams.
“So I wasn’t surprised because we knew in those games that we could have done even better. It’s all about the process and getting the basics right.
“That is what we’re trying to do. We know we are up in the table. There is a lot more we can deliver.”
Boss Kieran McKenna has been rightly winning lots of plaudits for the incredible job he has done at Portman Road since taking charge in October 2021.
The Northern Irishman is being linked already with some top jobs and aged 37 there is little doubt he is the brightest young manager in English football.
Hladky previously played for Salford and St Mirren as well as Slovan Liberec and FC Brno back home.
And he said: “Kieran is the best manager I’ve worked with. I can say that clearly.
“He’s been so enjoyable for every single player — even for those who don’t play regularly. I was one of those and he was fantastic to me then, as he is now.
Kieran McKenna has been getting huge plaudits for the job he is doing at Ipswich
“The manager just treats people well on and off the pitch. It’s simply a pleasure to work for him.”
Having played for the Suffolk club for two-and-half years, Hladky knows how much this derby means for Ipswich fans.
And it kicks off a mouthwatering set of fixtures for the Tractor Boys, who travel to Leeds next Saturday before hosting Leicester in a top-of-the-table blockbuster on Boxing Day.
He said: “Norwich is a big game. For the fans, it’s massive. I understand. But for us as players, it’s three points and we want to get them.
“These are all exciting games. It’s a brilliant time. I’ve got my family coming over from the Czech Republic to watch the games too so we’re all looking forward to it.”
    Read more on The Sun
And for a keeper who was playing League Two just two and half years ago, there is excitement back home that next season Hladky might become the latest Czech keeper to reach the Premier League.
He said: “I’m dreaming about it since I was a child. But I’m dreaming even more now when I go to sleep, thinking how it could be. It’s exciting and something we all want to be involved in.” More
