ANDY CARROLL could make his Champions League debut aged 33. The former Liverpool, West Ham and Newcastle striker is reportedly in transfer talks with Club Brugge.

According to the Daily Mail, Carroll has flown to Belgium to negotiate a short-term deal and undergo his medical.
The free agent was released by West Brom at the end of last season after scoring three goals in 15 games following his January arrival from Reading.
The nine-cap England international, who swapped St James’ Park for Anfield for a British-record £35million in 2011, previously played in the Uefa Cup and Europa League – with zero goals in seven appearances.
However, joining the Belgian champions means he would likely get his first taste of football on this continent and the Champions League.

SHEFFIELD UNITED’S Rhian Brewster and Oli McBurnie have been charged with common assault by the police following the ugly play-off semi-final scenes at Nottingham Forest.The duo will appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on July 28.

Blades striker Billy Sharp was headbutted by a fan after Forest supporters invaded the City Ground pitch having clinched a place at Wembley on penalties.
Footage then emerged of Brewster, 22, and McBurnie, 26, in an altercation with another fan George Brinkley.
Both “strenuously deny” the charges having voluntarily engaged in interviews with Nottinghamshire Police.

GARETH BALE has lifted Cardiff’s hopes of a sensational move to home-town club Cardiff after a chance meeting with Steve Morison.The Wales captain is available on a free transfer when his Real Madrid contract expires later this month.

Bale visited Cardiff’s Vale of Glamorgan training base – which is shared with the Football Association of Wales – Wednesday morning for a physio session on the same day the Championship club returned for pre-season.
And it is understood during his time at the FAW with their medical staff, he also spoke to Bluebirds boss and ex-Wales team-mate Morison.
Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman has been in talks with Bale’s representatives for weeks.
But a deal for the superstar, who is desperate to be in peak condition when he leads Wales in November’s Qatar World Cup, is not done just yet.

Bale, who has ruled out a switch to LaLiga outfit Getafe, teased Cardiff fans during the international break when he was asked directly if the Bluebirds were an option.
He opened the door when he replied: “I can’t really say.”
The forward claimed earlier this month “I’ve got loads” of offers, while his representatives have also stated they are “still in talks with lots of other clubs”.
In the meantime, Bale is going on holiday for a second time and is not due to return until next month alongside the other international players.
