Borussia Dortmund 2 Sevilla 2 (agg: 5-4): Watch Haaland become fastest to 20 Champions League goals as Gemans go through

ERLING HAALAND blitzed more goal records as Dortmund defied Sevilla’s storming comeback to sneak into the Champions League quarter-finals.
The Manchester United and Man City target became the fastest player to 20 score times in the competition in just his 14th game – and the first to hit doubles in four successive ties.

And the Norway striker absolutely shattered the previous-quickest mark to 20 strikes… the 24 matches Harry Kane needed.
Haaland slotted home from a Dortmund breakaway with his first touch in the Sevilla box to ruin the Spaniards’ superiority of the opening 35 minutes.
Then he tucked home a retaken penalty amid ugly scenes to seemingly leave the Germain giants cruising through.
But Youssef En-Nesyri replied with a thumping spot-kick of his own and levelled on the night six minutes into stoppage time.

So, remarkably, meant Dortmund had to survive a nervous finale to triumph 5-4 on aggregate – after basking for so long in Haaland’s brilliance.
Sevilla had also been undone by Haaland in Dortmund’s 3-2 first-leg victory.
United, City and Chelsea appear the frontrunners, should Dortmund cash in on the 20-year-old in the summer.
And he showed once again there might be no better poacher in the world.

Having tucked home a pull-back from Marco Reus, he doubled Dortmund’s lead with a 54th-minute penalty of amazing drama.
Referee Cuneyt Cakir ruled out a Haaland finish from a tight angle for a foul, having been persuaded to consult VAR.
But on seeing the replays Cakir awarded a spot-kick for Haaland being pulled in the build-up.
Yassine Bounou saved Haaland’s kick – and celebrated in the frontman’s face.
But as Sevilla dashed upfield the game, was called back for the keeper having been off his line for the penalty.
Haaland knocked it home this time – and copied Bounou’s over-the-top gloating.

That prompted several Sevilla players to pursue him up the pitch.
Dortmund themselves were also given a chasing – as En-Nesyri struck twice.
But in the end Haaland’s history-making was not to be overshadowed.

20 – Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland has now scored 20 goals in 14 UEFA Champions League appearances; the quickest a player has ever reached 20 goals in the competition, and in 10 fewer appearances than the previous record holder (Harry Kane, 24). Astonishing. pic.twitter.com/jaUCwVmIks

    THAT’S ALL FROM TURIN
Ten-man Porto beat the odds against Juventus and went through to the Champions League quarter-finals after a dramatic encounter that went to extra time.
The visitors opened the scoring with Sergio Oliveira’s penalty after 19 minutes and went back to the dressing room with an important 3-1 lead on aggregate.
However, Juve came back stronger and equalised with Federico Chiesa’s beautiful curling shot from a tight angle down the left flank on 49 minutes.
Porto tried to react but lost Mehdi Taremi to a second yellow card just five minutes later after the striker booted the ball away in anger.
The visitors were unable to produce after Taremi’s dismissal and so Chiesa gave Juventus the lead after 63 minutes thanks to a beautiful header.
The match went to extra-time and the Bianconeri continued to hammer the depleted Dragons.
However, Oliveira got a second goal on 115 minutes following a clever free-kick from 20-odd yards that he delivered under Juventus’ awful wall and buried behind Wojciech Szczesny’s bottom right corner.
Adrien Rabiot responded with a header that went past Agustin Marchesin just two minutes later but Porto held on to a 4-4 aggregate that saw them going through on away goals and eliminating Juventus as well as Cristiano Ronaldo.
That’s all from us here at SunSport, have a lovely night!

    LO MOMENT
Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo admits it’s going to take a while until his team can erase tonight’s shock.
Pirlo told Sky Sport Italia: “When you make four big errors over two legs in the Champions League Round of 16, you can get eliminated.
“We didn’t get it wrong when Porto were down to 10, as all we could do was try to spread them out by moving the ball side to side and packing the penalty area with bodies. That is how the goals arrived.
“It will take a few days to cancel this game from our minds, but then we must face every game with the right attitude, realise we’re still only in March and have time to climb the Serie A table.”

    GETTY IMAGES

    OL MY GOD
Porto hero Sergio Oliveira, who scored both of the visitors’ goals in Turin, is ecstatic after the team’s qualification and insists they never gave up, even after Mehdi Taremi’s dismissal.
Oliveira said: “It is a unique feeling to score two goals here and I am very happy for the qualification.
“It is a source of pride for the club, which already deserved it, and for the country.
“We had to suffer. We played with the lines down, but we always wanted to score.
“The goal finally came and we are immensely happy. We must be proud of what we have done. I want to dedicate this victory to our fans.”

    IM-PORT-ANT MILESTONE
Porto have qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals, and they did it in style!
The defending Portuguese champions have eliminated not only Juventus, but also Cristiano Ronaldo.
And that was no fluke, as they won the first leg in dominant fashion.
If you think about it, Porto might be a major reason why we may see the rest of the Champions League without Ronaldo AND Lionel Messi!

Watch Erling Haaland scream ‘UNLUCKY’ in Sevilla keeper’s face after penalty drama before Dortmund star is chased down

FROM history-making to histrionics – Erling Haaland spiced up his latest record-breaking spree with an amazing exchange over a retaken penalty.
The Borussia Dortmund striker completed his fourth successive Champions League double in the most dramatic way possible as the Germans edged out Sevilla 5-4 on aggregate.

Youssef En-Nesyri hit two goals of his own to level it up at 2-2 on the night before Dortmund clung on.
Haaland was caught on camera taking his revenge on Bono by yelling “unlucky!” in the Sevilla keeper’s face when he tucked home his second spot-kick attempt.
That strike made it 20 Champions League goals in record time, with the Norwegian taking 14 matches – ten games quicker than second-placed Harry Kane.
With Dortmund 1-0 up through Haaland’s opener, the spot of drama began when referee Cuneyt Cakir ruled out a second effort by the Norway superstar for a foul.

But Cakir spotted a push on Haaland in the build-up and so awarded a penalty.
Bounou saved it and lapped up the moment by celebrating in the Manchester United target’s face.
Sevilla continued play but Cakir called it back after deciding Bounou had stepped off his line for the spot-kick.
This time Haaland netted his penalty – and stooped down to roar in the face of Bono as the crestfallen stopper climbed off the floor.

That action split social media, some fans saying football needs “characters” like Haaland while others claimed it was bad sportsmanship.
Haaland and Bono made it up at the end, swapping fist-bumps and smiles.

But Twitter was still divided, one fan calling Haaland’s antics “nonsense”.
And the best response was music to Haaland’s ears, with a reference to two members of rock band U2.
That came from this armchair pop: “He certainly got the Edge over Bono.”

Is Diogo Dalot eligible to play for AC Milan vs Man Utd?

MANCHESTER UNITED face a tricky Europa League last-16 clash against Italian giants AC Milan.

Is Diogo Dalot eligible to play for AC Milan vs Man Utd?
Diogo Dalot has been on loan at the Milan club this season after falling out of favour at United.
The full-back was brought to the Theatre of Dreams in 2018 from Porto but has since failed to nail down a starting berth.
Much is expected of the right-back, who is still only 21 and could yet have a bright future with the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was happy for him to leave on a temporary basis earlier this campaign, joining Milan last October on a season-long loan.
Dalot has appeared 20 times for AC so far in 2020/21, netting twice and also chipping in with two assists.

The full back has gained valuable experience on loanCredit: AP:Associated Press
And there is NO clause in his loan deal stopping him playing against his former club.
As such, Dalot could line-up against United in either of the two legs of their Europa League showdown.

Speaking ahead of the tie, boss Ole said: “[Milan] are on the up and have done really well this season.
“I’ve been so impressed by [Zlatan], and Diogo we know. He went there to get some experience at a big club and he’s learned a lot.
“He’s played a lot more games this season, kept fit and, hopefully, we can give him some bother!”

How Chelsea or Liverpool could miss out on Champions League even if they finish fourth in Premier League

THIS year’s race to finish in the Premier League top four is starting to hot up.
Manchester City might have pulled away at the top of the table, but there’s a real battle on below them to qualify for the Champions League.

Could Chelsea or Liverpool miss out on Champions League if they finish fourth?
Since 2018, any side that has finished in the Premier League top four qualifies automatically for the Champions League.
    So far, so simple.
But this year a specific set of circumstances could see one unlucky side miss out on a place in the tournament, even if they end up in fourth position.

Uefa rules state that a maximum of FIVE teams from one country can play in the Champions League.
And if you win the tournament, you automatically qualify for the next to defend your crown.

Liverpool could miss out on the Champions League next season – even if they finish fourthCredit: Reuters
Whereas if you win the Europa League, you’re rewarded with a place in the Champions League for the following season.
English teams are enjoying a fruitful season in both the EL and CL, meaning the possibility of two Premier League winners is still on.

If two Prem sides do lift the trophies this season – and both finish OUTSIDE the top four in back home – they will take their place regardless in the Champions League 2021/22.
In this albeit unlikely scenario, the side finishing fourth in the table would have to go into the Europa League, not the Champions League.
For example, here’s how Chelsea could miss out on the CL if they finish fourth –
Tottenham win the Europa League, but finish fifth in PL.
Liverpool win the Champions League, only finish sixth in PL.
Premier League top-three head into the Champions League, along with Spurs and Liverpool as European winners.
Chelsea finish fourth in PL, but must now head into Europa League as five slots already filled.
