Neymar could be BANNED for Champions League final after swapping shirts with Halstenberg following PSG’s win vs Leipzig

NEYMAR could be BANNED for the Champions League final after swapping shirts following Paris Saint-Germain’s win over RB Leipzig.
The Brazilian broke Uefa’s coronavirus protocol when he was caught on camera trading with Marcel Halstenberg after the French giants’ 3-0 win on Tuesday.

Uefa’s 31-page ‘Return to play protocol’, issued earlier this month, states: “Players are recommended to refrain from swapping their shirts.”
It adds that non-compliance with the obligations “may lead to disciplinary measures in accordance with the Uefa Disciplinary Regulations.”
According to reports before the competition’s return from the Covid-19 shutdown, swapping shirts during the Lisbon mini-tournament would result in a 12-day period of self-isolation.
Uefa’s official protocol does not explicitly address a period of isolation in cases of shirt-swapping.

But with PSG now facing Bayern Munich or Lyon, who meet on Wednesday night, in just five days’ time, on Sunday, there is a real risk the Brazilian superstar could be unavailable.

This was the back-heel assist from Neymar that set up Di Maria to score PSG’s second

Neymar, 28, was at his influential best as PSG outclassed their German rivals at Benfica’s Stadium of Light to reach the final for the first time.
The world-record £198million signing hit the post TWICE in the first half before providing a delicious assist for PSG team-mate Angel Di Maria to put his side 2-0 up.

The ball was fizzed into the box after a terrible error by RB Leipzig keeper Peter Gulacsi.
Neymar took the sting out of it with with a delightful back-heel assist for Di Maria to control then slide the ball home.
Marquinhos and Juan Bernat were the other scorers in a 3-0 win.

BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand said: “At first I thought he didn’t mean it, then I looked at the replay and just… wow.”
Should Neymar miss Sunday’s showpiece, it is likely Stoke flop Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting could stand in.
The Cameroon striker, who scored five times in 30 games for the Potters, netted the winner in last week’s quarter-final against Atalanta. More

RB Leipzig 0 PSG 3: Neymar and Co reach club’s first-ever Champions League final as Di Maria nets in demolition

AS Manchester City will fans know, spending £1billion on players keeps the trophy cabinet well stocked.
In the case of Paris Saint-Germain, it is even better when you invest nearly the same amount and only play in the fifth best league in Europe.

Yet until Tuesday night, neither club — despite all their cash courtesy of the Middle East — could get that passport to the Champions League final.
But PSG, City’s mirror image across the Channel, have now got there first.
The all-singing all-dancing, front three of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria will take their place in Sunday’s final against either Bayern Munich or Lyon.
This team from the Parc des Princes are the best footballing example of a team being all fur coat and no knickers —  although maybe this team are proving they do have some substance after all.

All three strikes came from Leipzig mistakes and while Neymar, the ultimate show pony, failed to score — and he missed a few good chances — he still showed a few dazzling flashes of what he can do.
On this showing, it was probably a good job Leipzig,  minus Chelsea new-boy Timo Werner, did not make  the final.
PSG are loathed in France as much as Red Bull-backed Leipzig are in Germany  but they will at least sprinkle some stardust over the  weekend’s events in Portugal.
If Bayern are the opponents, the end of a traumatic year for European football will be marked by a truly fascinating battle for the  crown.

German coach Thomas Tuchel  deserves credit for finally getting Les Parisiens to gel  on the European stage.
It is remarkable when you consider they were seconds from losing 1-0 to Atalanta in the quarter-finals — only for  Marquinhos and former Stoke striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to score a quickfire double at the death.
Yet this was a much better, controlled performance against Leipzig.

PSG are seen in their homeland as an arrogant football club, and having the most two expensive players of all-time in Nemar and Mbappe has increased the jealousy from their rivals.
Leipzig, meanwhile, were formed on May 19, 2009, eight days before Manchester United lost 2-0 to Barcelona in the Champions League final in Rome.
Throughout the game in Lisbon, their young manager Julian Nagelsmann – with a dodgy jacket making him look like a 1980s pop star – looked in a state of shock.
Still only 33, we will see in the Premier League before he turns 40.
But here, his team fell short of what was required. From the very start, PSG were on a mission and for once, they were all singing from the same hymn sheet in a really big match.
Mbappe and Neymar caused all sorts of problems and they will have to deliver similar menace on Sunday.

    9

Angel Di Maria added the second moments before half time following a poor error from Gulacsi and a brilliant Neymar flickCredit: EPA
These two combined early in a move which should have resulted in a goal but while Mbappe delivered the killer pass, Neymar somehow failed to get his shot on target.
Mbappe stuck the ball in the net but it was correctly ruled out for a handball from Neymar.
When PSG did score it was a Brazilian but not the one we expected but instead, midfielder Marquinhos.
On the back of getting a good luck message from Pele with the rest of his fellow countrymen, Marquinhos delivered a fine header but it was only made possible courtesy of an outstanding free-kick from the outstanding Di Maria.
It is a shame Manchester United fans did not see a few more of these type of performances.
Meanwhile, another former United player, Ander Herrera, helped PSG tick along in midfield.

    9

Bernat made sure of the game less than ten minutes into the second halfCredit: EPA
From the very start, this was never going to be a tight game of chess.
Neymar nearly caught out former Hereford and Tranmere keeper Peter Gulacsi with a cheeky free-kick which hit the side of the post.
And Gulasci was then guilty of a terrible mistake with some lousy distribution which was duly punished.
He should have cleared his lines but his pass was picked up by PSG, Neymar delivered a brilliant back heel and Di Maria – who forced the error by pressing the keeper – took one touch before burying the ball into the net.
Leipzig started positively in the second half but PSG killed the tie with a third. Nordi Mukiele slipped out wide and then played Juan Bernat onside.
The PSG defender got a good connection to Di Maria’s cross and while Neymar was trying his best to score and got a touch but the ball was already over the line.

So now, PSG are just 90 minutes from delivering the success their owners have demanded.
On social media, Mbappe has been poking fun at fans who have labelled Ligue 1 a “farmers League”
And over the next few days, you would guess he will be unable to resist the urge to poke fun at their critics.
You must not forget that despite all their millions, this is a club which is known for lacking a bit of class.
And maybe Mbappe could be advised to keep a lid on it until PSG bring the bacon back to Paris. More

Neymar has viewers in hysterics as he desperately tries to steal Bernat’s PSG goal in Champions League win over Leipzig

NEYMAR had Twitter in stitches after he hilariously tried to steal Juan Bernat’s goal against RB Leipzig.
Paris Saint-Germain reached their first-ever Champions League final on Tuesday night with a 3-0 win over the Germans.

Marquinhos opened the scoring after 13 minutes with a powerful header.
And Angel Di Maria was able to double the lead with a finish minutes before half-time.
Left-back Bernat sealed the win for PSG with a 56th minute strike.

    — PRESIDER (@iam_presider) August 18, 2020

But his goal was almost poached by world-record signing Neymar, who endured a barren night in front of goal again.

The Brazilian made headlines last week when he missed an absolute sitter in the lucky quarter-final win against Atalanta.
And Neymar managed to fluff two more golden opportunities when one-on-one with Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi.

Neymar is a tap in merchant, my man really tried to steal bernat’s goal and thought we wouldn’t notice 🤦🏻‍♂️

The former Barcelona man also managed to hit the post with another effort.
And Neymar’s frustration was clear for all to see when he made an unashamed attempt to get his foot on the end of Bernat’s shot even though it had already beaten Gulacsi.

But viewers found the whole situation extremely entertaining and took to Twitter to make their voices known.
One said: “Neymar trying to steal Juan Bernat’s goal is the best thing you’ll see today.”

Fans go crazy for RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann’s snazzy suit… but can’t believe McManaman has audacity to comment

PSG’S three-piece attack and brilliant off-the-cuff football tore RB Leipzig apart in the Champions League semi-final… and there was a tailor woe off the pitch too for the Germans’ boss.
Julian Nagelsmann’s snazzy suit glared even more than the floodlights – but TV pundit Steve McManaman was also stitched up on social media for having the cheek to point it out.

    6

    6

    6

McManaman was in the “Spice Boys” Liverpool side who infamously wore white Giorgio Armani suits for the 1996 FA Cup final, when Manchester United completed a domestic double with a 1-0 win.
So it was no surprise the former England winger was told to button it by armchair critics after he noted Nagelsman’s grey check, tweedy number – which was likened on Twitter to an “entire footballer’s washbag” and a “DFS couch called Vienna or something”.
Social media was just as quick to condemn Macca.
One fan posted: “The audacity of Steve McManaman throwing shade on Nagelsmann’s suit.”

And another called his ’96 attire “Nagelsmann’s sideline suit”.

With PSG winning 3-0 to reach their first Champions League final, Leipzig’s lack of resistance late on was the perfect fit for the French champions as it enabled them to ease down ahead of Sunday’s final against either Bayern Munich or Lyon.
And indeed Leipzig faded as powerfully as many viewers hope Nagelsmann’s outfit does.
One said: “As much as PSG have been brilliant, Leipzig have not turned up. Part of me likes ot blame that on Nagelsmann’s horrific suit.”

Kevin De Bruyne refuses to blame Raheem Sterling’s horror miss for Lyon loss as Man City vent about VAR again

KEVIN DE BRUYNE refused to blame Raheem Sterling for Manchester City’s exit from Europe.
Sterling missed a shocking late sitter when he blazed over an open goal from five yards with City trailing 2-1.

Lyon sub Moussa Dembele made him pay by scoring his second of the night to make it 3-1 just SIXTY SECONDS later.
De Bruyne, yesterday named Premier League Player of the Season, said: “We still had seven or eight minutes to equalise. So I don’t blame Raheem, it’s football.
“He did so many good things in the game and people are talking about the miss. That’s the way it goes I guess.”
City centre-back Aymeric Laporte held his hands up for a “bad team performance” but was baffled by VAR allowing Lyon’s second goal.

Laporte claimed he had been fouled in the build-up to Moussa Dembele’s first strike —   but neither Dutch whistler Danny Makkelie nor the video  ref saw fit to disallow it.
Laporte tweeted: “Just to be clear: I will not hide, I’m a football player but a man  foremost, we all made mistakes in this game, and I also take my responsibility for the bad team performance.
“But this decision is hard to accept, especially in a  crucial qualifier AND with the help of VAR.”
Team-mate Fernandinho weighed in on Twitter:  “Disappointing and painful night in Lisbon. Life sometimes can be cruel, and football isn’t different.

“But now is time to get a little rest and get ready for the next season. And it will be very different.”
City have failed to reach the semi-finals since 2016.
And De Bruyne, whose goal had  cancelled out Maxwel Cornet’s first-half strike, added: “It’s a little bit of a shame because we had good hopes to do well this year.
“I don’t think we are far away. At this level it’s just small details. The difference against Lyon is we made mistakes and they scored — but the chances we  created we didn’t take.

“In the first half we didn’t play the way we usually do. We didn’t create enough.
“In the second half, we played much better and created many chances.
“They had two chances in the second half and scored two goals.”
Lyon now face Barcelona batterers Bayern Munich in Wednesday’s semi-final.

De Bruyne said: “Lyon have a great team.
“If I have to pick a player who impressed me, it’s Houssem Aouar. He was fantastic.”
KDB produced 20 assists during the Prem campaign to equal Thierry Henry’s record and scored 13 times to help Pep Guardiola’s men finish second in the table.
But Liverpool beat City to the title to end their 30-year wait for league  glory and Jurgen Klopp was named Prem Manager of the Season.

Reds and England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold clinched Young Player of the Season after he had a key role in finally  bringing the championship back to Anfield.
Tottenham star Son Heung-min’s strike against Burnley, where he ran the length of the pitch, won Goal of the Season.
Votes from the public were added to those of 20 Prem captains and a panel of experts to decide the winners in all categories. More
