Sergio Aguero’s brother slams Pep Guardiola claiming Man City boss ‘never wanted’ striker since joining club

SERGIO AGUERO’S younger brother launched an astonishing attack on Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.Mauricio del Castillo claimed the Catalan ‘had never wanted’ his veteran striker after Aguero played his last game for the Citizens.

Mauricio del Castillo hit out with a tweet he has since deleted
He made his comment in a tweet he later deleted, writing: “Guardiola never wanted my brother since his arrival at City.”
Asked why he had erased the message by social media followers, Mauricio said: “Many toxic people, too many.”
Warned the message had been seen by another Twitter user, he responded: “Perfect, I’m glad people have seen it.
“And I’ll write it again if I want.”
Aguero joined City in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has helped fire the club to five Premier League titles, including three in Guardiola’s five years in charge.
He announced earlier this year this season would be his last at the Etihad and Guardiola was very emotional as he said goodbye to the striker after the Premier League season.
But Aguero could not bow out in the perfect way with City losing to Chelsea in the Champions League final.
The forward came on as a late substitute in Porto but was left in tears at full-time as Kai Havertz’s goal proved the difference.

Aguero was expected to sign for Barcelona before heading to Argentina to join the national team ahead of two World Cup qualifiers and the Copa America.
Reports suggest he may not put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Catalan giants for the time being because his friend Lionel Messi has yet to finalise his new contract with Barcelona.

Thiago Silva says winning Champions League with Chelsea is ‘most important moment’ of his career

THIAGO SILVA was able to revel in Chelsea’s Champions League glory despite a cruel injury blow that took him out of the final.A first-half groin injury on Saturday night threatened to deliver a second consecutive year of heartbreak for the 36-year-old.

But Kai Havertz’s goal meant he was able to finally add the competition to his extensive trophy cabinet.
Silva told RMC: “It’s the most important moment of my career, it’s unforgettable.
“But it’s also a moment for recognition of everything Paris has done for me, but we failed to win it.
“I’m very happy, and I hope that Paris will be able to get here soon.”
Last season saw the Brazilian end a hugely successful stint with Paris Saint-Germain by losing the Champions League final to Bayern Munich.
And he admitted to feeling something of a scapegoat after the French side’s failures in the competition.
He added: “Every time PSG were eliminated, people tried to find a culprit and it was always me.
    “It’s a shame, I really gave everything.”

Tuchel changed everything. But it’s also important to talk about Lampard. Thiago Silva

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was in charge of PSG for the 2020 final and reunited with Silva in West London.
But it was Frank Lampard who brought the centre-back to Stamford Bridge and the club legend came in for special praise after the victory.
Silva noted: “We do not always understand everything that is happening, but it is written by God.
“Tuchel changed everything, the team mentality. But it’s also important to talk about Lampard.
“Without him, winning here would have been difficult, thanks to him for letting me sign here.”

Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game in the first half as Chelsea won 1-0.

Blues players celebrated on the pitch with fans before and after Cesar Azpilicueta’s trophy lift.
And the party carried on back in the stadium.
Several stars uploaded pictures or videos of the festivities inside the changing rooms.

And Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount also showed their love for the big silver cup.
Italian midfielder Jorginho also shared a video of him and his team-mates jumping up and down and blasting out ‘Pump it up’.
And the boys also chanted ‘Championes!’ at the top of their lungs.
After winning just their second Champions League title, John Terry was trending on Twitter with fans suggesting the Blues legend would be celebrating on the pitch in his kit.
And it also emerged Chelsea’s stars bagged a cool £10million bonus for winning the famous trophy.
The Blues’ heroes had already secured a tasty £5m windfall after beating Real Madrid in the semis earlier this month.
But, despite entering Saturday’s showpiece as heavy underdogs, they never looked like losing after Havertz netted two minutes before half time.
SunSport revealed that mega-rich City’s squad would have trousered around £15m from a bonus pot should they have won, with some players getting more than others.

Mason Mount gave Chelsea manager everything he could’ve asked in final and even Lampard would’ve felt joy at performance

THIS must have been bittersweet for Frank Lampard to watch. But the axed Chelsea legend will have felt only pure joy seeing his protege Mason Mount light up the biggest stage in club football.
Mason Mount was phenomenal in the Champions League finalCredit: Reuters
It was Chelsea’s No 19 who supplied the inch-perfect pass that freed Kai Havertz to win the Blues’ second Champions League title, nine years on from  Lampard’s original triumph.
And in the battle of Mount vs Phil Foden, it was the Stamford Bridge man who  came out on top. His passing was immaculate, managing 100 per cent accuracy with his 22 passes in the first half, and his pressing relentless.
It was everything a manager would want from a midfielder and when it mattered most.
Thomas Tuchel was grinning from ear to ear, while England boss  Gareth Southgate will no doubt have been beaming too ahead of the Euros.
Hopefully, somewhere, Lampard was allowing himself a knowing smile as well.
It was he who put Mount on his path to stardom, as he did with so many of the Blues’ kids before his sacking in January. Reece James, another of those, was immense too.
But it was Lampard’s faith in Mount, particularly, that never wavered.
He was so sure of the midfielder’s talent, just as Harry Redknapp had been about his own amid a fan backlash at West Ham all those years ago.

Lampard convinced the youngster to snub a loan to the Bundesliga and join him temporarily at Derby, where he blossomed.
The England centurion then gave Mount the room to develop into a first-team regular at Chelsea, even when fans were not so sure.
Now the 22-year-old has emerged as not only Chelsea’s best and most important player, but one of the finest talents  in Europe.
His game seems to have gone up a level under Tuchel.
Those days where some fans accused Mount of being Lampard’s teacher’s pet seem a lifetime ago.
They all realise his stunning quality now and appreciate how hard he has worked, too.
Mount slots seamlessly into whichever system his managers choose and whichever role he is given.
He was deployed here in Porto’s Estadio do Dragao as one of two No 10s behind Timo Werner, alongside Havertz.

And he was central to two Werner chances before the one that set up Havertz.
He also took a leaf out of N’Golo Kante’s book by constantly hounding City’s pass-masters with his short, sharp sprints.
Declan Rice once described him as like a ‘bumblebee in a jar’ with how he buzzes around the pitch, making a nuisance of himself.
It was Mount’s gorgeous pass on 42 minutes which provided the sting in the tale, allowing Havertz to cap a largely underwhelming first season in English football in the most unforgettable way.
The German finished it  well but it was all about Mount’s delivery from deep, which drew praise on Twitter from assist king Cesc Fabregas.
Chelsea fans paid tribute to Lampard by singing his name.
But the noise from the 6,000 Blues fans went up a notch when Mount went off with ten minutes to go in appreciation of their modern day midfield idol.

Roman Abramovich’s brutal axing of Chelsea managers pays off again as Thomas Tuchel leads them to Euro glory

ROBERTO DI MATTEO toasted his birthday as modern-day Chelsea followed his footsteps all the way back to the summit of European football. The man who led them to a first Champions League triumph nine years ago turned 51 on Saturday and May 29 will now be a cause for double celebration.
Thomas Tuchel lifts the Champions League trophy with Chelsea, having only replaced Frank Lampard as boss in JanuaryCredit: AFP
Interim manager Roberto Di Matteo hails victory in the 2012 final with skipper John Terry but was soon oustedCredit: Action Images – Reuters
Di Matteo lasted just eight months and 17 days as boss of a club that has become synonymous with hiring and firing.
In one way Chelsea are pioneers of the gig economy, with owner Roman Abramovich’s fancy for a head-spinning turnover of managers since taking over in 2003.
It has cost millions and millions of pounds in pay-offs but even to people who value longevity and loyalty, it has to be said that somehow the policy works.
All that outlay can be made up and more with the prize money, TV cash, commercial rewards and kudos from winning a second Champions League title among all the other silverware that has been gathered at Stamford Bridge in the past 18 years.
Di Matteo’s historic triumph over Bayern Munich at their own ground during his brief reign shares similarities with the way Thomas Tuchel has barnstormed his way to glory at impressively short notice.
Tuchel had a sleepless night and a panicky flight to London from Paris when parachuted into Chelsea to take over from sacked Frank Lampard.
Lampard was axed on January 25 and Tuchel took charge of his first game two days later, a 0-0 draw with Wolves.
Di Matteo assumed control the very same day Andre Villas-Boas’ mutinous tenure ended with players in open revolt on March 4, 2012.
The quick fix worked then and it has worked again.
When once sacking a manager  triggered uproar at Chelsea, it now generates merely mild eye-rolling and a few tuts, even when it is the club’s all-time top scorer who gets the boot.

Tuchel, who was axed himself by Paris Saint-Germain having reached last season’s Champions League final, is also being kept on his toes by a short-term contract.
He was twiddling his thumbs in the French capital and agreed a handsome £7million-a-year deal but one that expires at the end of next season.
With a second European Cup now on its way to the bulging trophy room at Stamford Bridge it is a formality that the German will sign a two-year extension to that with a decent pay rise.
The major difference between Tuchel and Di  Matteo is that the man currently occupying the hottest seat in football is evidently the right man for the job.
There were always doubts about Di Matteo and just six months after lifting the huge silver pot in Munich, he was gone.
Not so much a notch on Abramovich’s bedpost but another deeply scored scar in his love-hate relationship with those who manage his teams.
AVB, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Jose  Mourinho twice, Carlo Ancelotti,  Antonio Conte. The only ‘long-term’ manager to go on his terms was  Maurizio Sarri after winning the Europa League in his sole season.
Managing Chelsea usually ends in tears. However, it quite often seems to end in winning something as well.

It now stands at 17 major trophies since the Russian swept into south west London.
Lampard may have proved himself the right man for the job in the end and maintains he is capable of managing at the highest level, despite getting his fingers burned a few months back.
Abramovich’s style is questionable in one sense. It is generally accepted that the football industry is a hard one with little sentiment and the cash rewards make up for that.
But when it comes to chewing up people who have sweated for you on the pitch, as Di Matteo and more  significantly Lampard did, it is still cruel to treat them in such a way.
Abramovich gave a rare public  statement after sacking Lampard, a signal that even his hard-headed, business-like lust for glory had been breached by feeling for once.
To be fair to the club, Lampard is still being paid by Chelsea and will be until he gets another job or his contract expires.
Chelsea gamble that they generally employ such high-end people that their cast-offs are quickly snapped up by rivals.
It is another calculated policy that seems to work and while it seems heartless, it satisfies Abramovich’s pursuit of shiny cups and the accountants’ need to keep the cash tills ringing.

And nights like Saturday in Porto keep the Chelsea fans singing.
One of the favourite anthems is ‘We’ve Won It All’, to which opposing fans reply ‘You’ve Bought It All’.
They have a point but ultimately Chelsea fans, the players, discarded former managers and the owner just do not care. And if they don’t, why should we?

Bayer Leverkusen repost tweet about Chelsea hero Kai Havertz missing Champions League tie for exams four years ago

BAYER LEVERKUSEN posted an old tweet to show just how far Chelsea’s Champions League hero Kai Havertz has come. The German scored the winner as the Blues beat Manchester City 1-0 in Porto and his old club were quick to hark back to the time he missed a Champions League tie because he had exams.

Havertz, 21, put the Blues one up in the 42nd minute and it proved to be enough for the West Londoners.
Back in 2017, Havertz – then 17 – was forced to miss Leverkusen’s Champions League last-16 clash with Atletico Madrid.
He had a German and a sport exam to sit.
The Bundesliga side tweeted a team update ahead of the game and wrote: “Havertz has important exams at school.”
And as the most expensive player in Chelsea’s history more than paid back his £89million fee with the priceless goal, Leverkusen shared that post again.
They tweeted it alongside the words: “How it started.”
And for the ‘how it’s going’ picture they included a snap of the forward sliding on his knees having scored the winner in the biggest game in club football.
The post received more than 14,400 likes and 2,600 re-tweets.

Kevin De Bruyne leaves pitch in tears after sickening clash with Antonio Rudiger gives him black eye

KEVIN DE BRUYNE was in tears as a black eye ended his Champions League final after a grim clash with Antonio Rudiger in Chelsea’s 1-0 win.Star playmaker KDB soon headed down the tunnel after being helped off and replaced by Gabriel Jesus on the hour in Porto.

The midfielder departed gingerly and stooped over seemingly in pain and despair as boss Pep Guardiola consoled him.
Chelsea were deservedly holding onto Kai Havertz’s 42nd counter-attacking finish, following Mason Mount’s delightful through-pass.
And City’s mood dipped even further when KDB was the victim of a heavy challenge from Rudiger that earned the Germany centre-back a booking.
City’s medical staff dashed on, while team-mate Kyle Walker remained kneeling beside De Bruyne throughout the time the Belgian was down being treated.
The way KDB kept his head down as City officials put their hands around him, and especially the fact he then went down the tunnel, sparked early Euro 2020 fitness fears.
Fans on social media were gutted for De Bruyne, although some suggested his display had been well below par.
And City’s anguish was confirmed as Stamford Bridge chief Thomas Tuchel’s masterly tactics kept them out, including for seven minutes of stoppage time.

That gave Chelsea their second Champions League final success, with City yet to scoop Europe’s top domestic prize in football.
And it meant an anguished swansong for City record scorer Sergio Aguero.
The Argentina striker came on for the last 13 minutes in a vain bid to conjure both an equaliser and the perfect finale to his 10-year City career.
Instead, team-mates Aguero and KDB suffered misery for different reasons.

Chelsea boss Tuchel meets Abramovich for first time after Champions League win… and admits it ‘can only get worse’

CHELSEA boss Thomas Tuchel met owner Roman Abramovich for the first time in Porto… and admits it can only go downhill from here.Tuchel was appointed in January after the notoriously trigger-happy Russian billionaire axed club legend Frank Lampard.

Roman Abramovich was in Porto to celebrate as Chelsea beat Man City
At the time, the Blues appeared massive outsiders to even qualify for the Champions League, let alone win it.
Now, after watching Kai Havertz down Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in Saturday’s final, the German is now the toast of West London.
But Tuchel, 47, knows he may have a fight on his hands to keep it that way… even if a new contract may be in the offing.
The former PSG boss said: “I think I have a new contract already.
“My manager said something to me about it – but I don’t know for sure.
“It was a special moment to meet the owner for the first time on the pitch.
“It was the best time for that – or maybe the worst because it can only get worse after this.”
Abramovich, 54, was Portugal making the most a rare opportunity to watch the Blues, who has owned since 2003.
And he was seen high-fiving former Blues striker Andriy Shevchenko after Havertz put them 1-0 up.

Visa issues mean the Russian has not been able to watch Chelsea at home in more than three yearsCredit: The Sun
Visa issues have meant the Russian has not been able to watch the Blues play at Stamford Bridge in more than three years but the billionaire made sure he was in Porto for their European showdown on Saturday night.
SunSport’s star snapper Richard Pelham pictured the oligarch making his way to his seat in the Estadio do Dragao.
He was dressed in his trademark casual attire complete with face mask and was seen celebrating wildly after Havertz opened the scoring.
Abramovich’s visa issues meant he had never met his latest appointment into the Stamford Bridge hot-seat.
But he recently reiterated his commitment to Chelsea despite his UK exile.
It is believed Abramovich had was watched just three live games – Chelsea’s Europa League final against Arsenal in 2019, a friendly against RB Salzburg a month later and the win over Krasnodar last October – since leaving London for Israel in April 2018.
The visa hold-up came amid tension between the UK and Russia after the Skripal poisoning.
In the years since his last visit, there have been on-off rumours that the Blues had been put up for sale, with the Russian – who recently jumped to eighth in the Sunday Times Rich List – reportedly looking for more than £2bn.
But in a rare interview with Forbes, Abramovich doubled down on his desire to lead Chelsea into the future after last summer’s huge £222million transfer spend.

And Tuchel is desperate to be part of that future at the Bridge.
He added: “We will speak tomorrow. I want him to know that I am still hungry for more and that I already want the next title.
“We have a very strong group of players here and I want to close the gap.
