    DUTCH COURAGE
Club Brugge bought talented young winger Noa Lang, 22, from Ajax in the summer for just £5m following a successful loan last season.
He scored 17 goals in 38 games in all competitions last campaign, as well as bagging 14 assists, earning himself a call-up to the Dutch national team.
He came on as a second-half substitute in their 1-0 win over Latvia this month, before starting in their 6-0 demolition of Gibraltar, in which he also got an assist.
Definitely one to watch tonight and one to keep an eye on for the future.

    DANGER MAN
All eyes in Belgium will be on young striker Charles De Ketelaere, 20, who has scored four goals for Club Brugge so far this season.
He also scored on just his second appearances for the Belgium national team in the Nations League third-place play-off against Italy.
    Guess who got the assist…

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN
Kevin De Bruyne is determined to put right the defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League final and to do so they’ll have to get the better of Club Brugge tonight.
He’ll be playing for City in his native Belgium for the very first time and will be desperate to put on a show for both the home and away fans.
“We always want to win every competition we enter.
“Obviously, to win the Champions League is very hard and the level is that high, sometimes you just have to say well done to the other team and just move on, because there’s nothing else that you can do.
“Sometimes, people want to have a run of games, but then for whatever reason, he [Pep] chooses other players.”
🗣 “The dynamic always changes. Sometimes people want to have a run of games but for whatever reason, he chooses other players”De Bruyne talks playing under Pep, Man City’s #UCL hopes, and returning to Belgium for first time 🇧🇪 📺 Club Brugge vs Man City | BT Sport 2HD pic.twitter.com/DdI5Ohu9AR— Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) October 19, 2021

    FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
This will not only be the first time these two sides meet in a competitive fixture, but it will also be the first time Man City take on any Belgian side in the Champions League.
Club Brugge are winless in 12 matches against English opponents (having drawn three and lost nine) since beating Chelsea 1-0 in the Cup Winners’ Cup in February 1995.
The Belgian side took on City’s rivals Man Utd in the Europa League Round of 32 last year, losing 5-0 at Old Trafford and drawing 1-1 in Brugge, giving a good account of themselves in the second fixture.
    FORM TEAMS
Both sides come into this game in good form, with City winning seven out of their last ten in all competitions and Club Brugge unbeaten in their last seven.
The Belgian side are currently second in the Belgian Pro League, with 22 points from 11 games, meanwhile City are third in the Prem, with 17 points from their opening eight games.
    GOOD AFTERNOON
Hello and welcome to SunSport’s live coverage of this exciting Champions League tie – Club Brugge vs Manchester City at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
The home side are currently second in Group A, ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side by one point after a surprise away victory over RB Leipzig and a hard-fought draw at home against PSG.
City also beat RB Leipzig in a thrilling 6-3 win at home just over a month ago, but were beaten 2-0 away at PSG thanks to an early strike from Idrissa Gueye and a Lionel Messi stunner in the second half.
The end of this game will mark the half way point in this season’s Champions League Group Stage and Pep Guardiola’s side will want nothing less than three points to get themselves one step closer to the last 16.
But Club Brugge have shown they are no pushovers, are in good form in the league and will look to use their home advantage to get one up on the Premier League champions in tonight’s game.
City will be the favourites by some margin, but Pep Guardiola will warn his side against complacency when they know that one misstep in this tricky group and they could find themselves out of the Champions League.
We’re expecting team news shortly so stick with us and we’ll bring you live build up of the game as we countdown to kick-off at 5.45pm GMT.

How Man Utd could line-up against Atalanta with Marcus Rashford partnering Cristiano Ronaldo after press conference hint

MANCHESTER UNITED welcome Atalanta to Old Trafford in the Champions League on Wednesday night. And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to welcome Marcus Rashford back to the starting XI alongside Cristiano Ronaldo after the Englishman’s shoulder injury.
This is how Man Utd could line up against Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday
Rashford has been out for months since summer shoulder surgery.
He has been slowly working his way back to full fitness and completed his comeback when he came off the bench and scored in United’s 4-2 defeat at Leicester on Saturday.
And the 23-year-old looks set to return to the starting XI after he appeared alongside Solskjaer at the pre-match press conference.
The appearance of a player at the pre-game media session usually sees the star in question start.
Rashford is likely to play in his trademark left-wing position with Mason Greenwood on the other flank behind Ronaldo up front.
Nemanja Matic is expected to keep his place in the starting XI from the defeat at the King Power and will partner Paul Pogba.

Regular starters Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will play at the back with Victor Lindelof in for Raphael Varane.
If Solskjaer decides to ring the changes – which he hinted at after the Foxes loss – Alex Telles could come in at left-back.
The Brazilian scored a screamer in United’s win against Villarreal in the Champions League last month and may have warranted a recall.
Solskjaer also hinted Fred and Edinson Cavani are pushing for inclusions and Scott McTominay could feature after coming off the bench at Leicester.
But Anthony Martial is still out.
The Norwegian said: “Anthony joined in training today but he’s still not fit enough to join us [for the match].
“Harry’s [Maguire] not had any reaction so he’s fine and good to go.
“We didn’t lose anyone else from the game through injury at the weekend, so we’re, more or less, a full squad.
“Raphael [Varane] is still not with us but Edinson and Fred are back available which is good for us.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could ring the changes after defeat last time out
Rashford’s appearance alongside his boss could also have been to show a United front after the winger’s camp were reportedly unhappy with Solskjaer after he suggested social champion Rashford should ‘prioritise his football’.
Finally, United provided some Atalanta team news on their official website and said: “Rafael Toloi was taken off during their 4-1 victory over Empoli on Sunday and the centre-back looks to be ruled out with a thigh problem.
“Matteo Pessina, Robin Gosens, Hans Hateboer and Berat Djimsiti are also set to be missing when the Italian side fly to Manchester for the first-ever meeting between the clubs.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has woeful record against Atalanta and missed penalty against Man Utd’s Champions League opponents

CRISTIANO Ronaldo has beaten Atalanta just ONCE in his career – and even missed a penalty against the Italians while at Juventus. The 36-year-old spent three years taking on Atalanta while at Juve, but never beat them in four league meetings.
Ronaldo will be hoping to improve his poor record against Atalanta with Man Utd
CR7 missed from the spot against Wednesday’s opponents in a 1-1 draw last yearCredit: Getty
He did finally get one over Atalanta though – winning the Coppa Italia in the processCredit: AP
It comes as bad news for Manchester United fans, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ready themselves to face Gian Piero Gasperini and Co on Wednesday.
Previous encounters between Ronaldo and the side from Bergamo have provided plenty of goals – 18 in six meetings to be exact.
Four of those games have been in Serie A, with a further two clashes in the Coppa Italia.
CR7 himself has scored three times against La Dea, and bagged in his first ever game against them.
That was an equaliser off the bench in a 2-2 draw in Serie A in December 2018.
His next meeting with them was a thumping 3-0 loss in the Coppa Italia a month later.

A 1-1 draw in Serie A followed, with Ronaldo again failing to find the back of the net.
He was twice on the scoresheet in their next meeting in July 2020, but again the spoils were shared in a 2-2 draw.
Yet another 1-1 draw came in December 2020 – but it could have been more as Ronaldo saw a penalty saved by now Tottenham keeper Pierluigi Gollini.
CR7 finally came out on the winning side against Atalanta after a 2-1 win in the Coppa Italia final in May of this year.
His poor record against Wednesday’s opponents is surprising considering Ronaldo notched an incredible 101 times in 134 appearances for Juventus.
And Solskjaer will be desperate for Ronaldo to improve on his poor fortunes against Atalanta in their Champions League clash.
    PATCHY FORM
Although it’s not just his record against Atalanta that is cause for concern.
The Portuguese superstar has scored just one goal in his last four games for United.
It coincides with an awful recent run for the Red Devils – with pressure mounting on Solskjaer.
His side have one victory in their last five games in all competitions.
But a win on Wednesday would see United leapfrog current Group F leaders Atalanta and put them in a good position to qualify for the knockout stages.

Man Utd’s 2008 Champions League heroes and where they are now after dramatic Chelsea shootout win including Anderson

IN 2008, Manchester United edged out Chelsea in Moscow on a night of elation, heartbreak and pure drama at the Luzhniki Stadium.English football was in rude health, with both Champions League finalists coming from the Premier League, as well as a further semi-finalist in Arsenal.
Man Utd’s Moscow XI would go down in club folklore
And practically on the banks of the Moskva River, both sides played their part in a night that supporters will never forget.
Cristiano Ronaldo gave the Red Devils a first-half lead, producing a mind-bending leap to meet Wes Brown’s cross and turn it past goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Avram Grant’s Blues didn’t lie down, however, and Frank Lampard equalised on the stroke of half-time.
Tension grew as the game went to extra time, and then penalties – but not before Didier Drogba had gotten himself sent off for slapping Nemanja Vidic late on.
This robbed Chelsea of one of their best penalty takers – but things were going well for them with Ronaldo having missed… and John Terry would step up to win it for the Blues.
His subsequent slip and miss – followed by tears of anguish – would go down in football folklore… and prove costly – with United going on to snatch victory 6-5 in the shoot-out.
But what has become of the Red Devils’ Moscow heroes? 13 years on, SunSport are on hand to take a look.
    EDWIN VAN DER SAR
The legendary goalkeeper was a pillar for the Red DevilsCredit: PA:Press Association
He now works as CEO for AjaxCredit: REUTERS
The legendary Dutch keeper, who crucially saved Nicolas Anelka’s penalty that night, played on for three further years at United.
He retired after another Champions League final in 2011, but this time was helpless as Messi and Co ran riot at Wembley in one of the most accomplished performances of all time.
At 50, he has now returned to his first professional club Ajax as CEO.

Like van der Sar, Brown also left Old Trafford in 2011 – but saw the remainder of his career dogged by injuries.
He managed only 76 league appearances in five years at Sunderland – with the majority of them at centre-half rather than right-back.
He called time on his career in 2018 after brief spells with Blackburn Rovers and Kerala Blasters in India – and is now mostly seen doing punditry work – including for MUTV.
    RIO FERDINAND
Ferdinand was a rock at the back alongside VidicCredit: AFP – Getty
He now does regular punditry work for BT SportCredit: PA:Press Association
A legendary figure at the back alongside Vidic, Ferdinand would captain United and England following this historic night.
The rangy defender scored the final winning goal of Sir Alex Ferguson’s illustrious reign against Swansea in 2013, before departing for Queens Park Rangers a year later.
He couldn’t prevent relegation for the West Londoners and retired in 2015 – he is now seen regularly as a pundit for BT Sport.
    NEMANJA VIDIC

He has since returned to watch United on occasionsCredit: Reuters
The Serbian became a bona fide legend at Old Trafford, but like Ferdinand called time on his United career after David Moyes’ ill-fated tenure.
He would then play a season at Inter Milan, but with his best days behind him he retired in January 2016.
Now 39 and father of three children, Vidic has stayed in Milan – but does perform occasional ambassadorial duties for the Red Devils – and has completed his coaching badges ahead of a potential day-to-day return to the game.
    PATRICE EVRA
Evra was routinely excellent for UnitedCredit: AFP
He has recently been getting in pristine shape… and he certainly loves this gameCredit: Instagram / @patrice.evra
Yet another member of this side to leave in 2014 after the defence began to creak under Moyes, Evra would still have a few years left in the game.
He won titles with Juventus before being sacked by Marseille for an altercation with a fan.
Evra then had a brief spell at West Ham in 2018 before retiring and now 40, he is most often seen bellowing “I love this game” to anyone who will listen, or working on his coaching badges.
    OWEN HARGREAVES
Hargreaves was later labelled a ‘disaster’ by Sir AlexCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd
He regularly provides punditry on BT Sport, particularly on Bundesliga sidesCredit: Getty Images – Getty
Having impressed in his first year at Old Trafford culminating in this match, unfortunately the rest of Hargreaves’ career would be plagued by injuries – featuring just five more times in three further years at United.
He was later scathingly described in Ferguson’s book, with the Scot writing: “When I signed him there was something about him I didn’t like. It turned out to be a disaster.”
Bizarrely he crossed the Manchester divide to play four times for City in the 2011-12 season before retiring, and now aged 40 regularly covers the Bundesliga for BT Sport.
    PAUL SCHOLES
Scholes won his second Champions League medal that nightCredit: AFP
He later had a brief spell managing OldhamCredit: PA:Press Association
Another true Red Devils legend, he became even more revered in the tail end of his career after the role of deep-lying playmaker became popularised by Andrea Pirlo.
He initially retired in 2011, before reconsidering and returning to action in January 2012 – eventually calling it a day for good in 2013 at the same time as Ferguson.
Now 46 he has business interests with Gary Neville – including at Salford City FC – and even briefly managed boyhood club Oldham Athletic. Scholes is another that regularly provides analysis for BT Sport.
    MICHAEL CARRICK

Always understated, Carrick appeared to belatedly gain more and more appreciation as his career began to wind down – eventually retiring in 2018.
The Englishman was made United captain in his late Old Trafford career, but managed only five appearances in his final season after requiring a medical procedure for an irregular heart rhythm.
Now aged 40, he works as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s right-hand man as part of United’s coaching staff.
    CRISTIANO RONALDO

At 35 he is still going strong at JuventusCredit: Getty Images – Getty
This match was the culmination of a season in which Ronaldo became untouchable.
He would scoop his first Ballon d’Or later in 2008, before breaking United hearts and transferring to Real Madrid the following year.
After nine astonishing seasons at the Bernabeu in which he scored 450 goals in 438 games, he moved to Juventus in 2018.
Then this past summer he made a sensational return to Old Trafford and has already scored five times in seven games during his second spell.
    CARLOS TEVEZ

Carlos Tevez was a favourite at Old Trafford for his blend of dogged determination and rich skill… but would do the dirty on them a year later.
In 2009 he controversially switched red for blue and signed for Manchester City – prompting the infamous “Welcome to Manchester” billboard.
He left English football for a successful period at Juventus in 2013, but after a dreadful spell at Shanghai Shenhua, Tevez returned for a third stint at boyhood club Boca Juniors – where at 37 he helped scooped a league title last year.
But he left the club in the summer of 2021.
    WAYNE ROONEY
