ARSENAL legend Thierry Henry has warned Mohamed Salah to not speak before a final – after his ‘revenge’ jibe came back to haunt him.Liverpool lost 1-0 in Saturday’s Champions League final to a Thibaut Courtois inspired Real Madrid.

It is the second time Liverpool faced Madrid in the final, previously doing so in 2018 when Real won 3-1 thanks to a brace of blunders from goalkeeper Loris Karius and a Gareth Bale bicycle kick.
Salah made it public knowledge that he was seeking ‘revenge’ for the 2018 final, stating that he wanted to play Real Madrid in this year’s final ahead of Man City because: ‘it’s personal.’
However, things quickly unravelled for the 29-year-old and his team as Vinicius Junior snuck behind Trent Alexander-Arnold at the far-post in the second half for a tap-in from Federico Valverde’s cross.
And despite Salah having six shots on target in the final – the most since records began in 2003/04 – he was unable to score thanks to ex-Chelsea stopper Courtois’ heroics.

Henry, who won the Champions League in 2009 with Barcelona, criticised the approach Salah took ahead of the final.

Some fans online mocked Jurgen Klopp’s side for holding a parade after losing to Real Madrid in Europe and missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.
But Fabinho’s wife Rebeca Tavares was determined to enjoy the special day – and took aim at online trolls trying to spoil it.

Thibaut Courtois opens up on his Ballon d’Or chances after Real Madrid goalkeeper’s heroics in Champions League final

THIBAUT COURTOIS has little hope of winning the Ballon d’Or due to it being ‘impossible’ to win for a goalkeeper. The Real Madrid shot-stopper pulled out a number of amazing saves to help Madrid lift the Champions League against Liverpool on Saturday.

However, despite his man-of-the-match performance, Courtois revealed he believed he had no chance of winning a Ballon d’Or – citing Karim Benzema as one of the reasons it wouldn’t be possible.
He said to Tuttomercato: “It is impossible for a goalkeeper to win it, even more so if he plays in a team with Benzema.
“I can go far, but it is difficult to win this trophy.
“For me, what matters is the fact that when I returned to the locker room, all my teammates were screaming my name. This is worth more than personal recognition.”

Historically speaking, Courtois is quite accurate in his assessment.
The only goalkeeper to have won the Ballon d’Or award was Lev Yashin in 1963, while more recently Bayern Munich sweeper-keeper Manuel Neuer came third in 2014.
Benzema himself has also been in inspired form this season, netting 44 goals and 15 assists in 46 games, including 10 goals in seven games during the knockout stages of the Champions League.
But one thing which is for certain is without Courtois’ heroics the LaLiga champions would not have earned their 14th Champions League trophy.
The former Chelsea goalkeeper made nine saves in the final to deny Liverpool a breakthrough – the most since records began in 2003/04.
The 30-year-old also broke the record for most saves across a single Champions League campaign with 59.

The Blues have already benefited in the past, earning nearly £20m in 2020 when Real won the LaLiga title and qualified for the Champions League.
But an additional £15m would be added if the Spaniard’s became European champions with Hazard at the club.
And it took only two years for Real to achieve the feat, beating Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League final.
Hazard, 31, was an unused sub and instead watched as Vinicius Junior, 21, scored the winner just after the hour mark.
