    Wrexham make cheeky Ronaldo offer
Wrexham’s Hollywood co-owner Rob McElhenney has hilariously suggested his club could lodge an offer for Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo has sensationally confirmed he wants to leave after just one year back at Old Trafford.
Reacting to a social media post about the five-time Ballon d’Or winner wanting to leave United if a suitable offer was lodged, McElhenney jokingly wrote: “Define suitable.”

    Rangnick wanted to sell Ronaldo
Former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick reportedly told the club that they had to sell Cristiano Ronaldo back in January.
The Athletic state: “On more than one occasion Rangnick proposed to football director John Murtough and chief executive officer Richard Arnold that Ronaldo be sold, and replaced, during the January transfer window.
“Rangnick felt that as Ronaldo’s time at United was uncertain beyond the end of the season, it made sense to act sooner rather than later to reconfigure the side’s attack.”

    Eriksen agrees deal
Christian Eriksen has agreed to join Manchester United on a free transfer.
Eriksen is set to sign a three-year deal at Old Trafford providing he comes through his medical.
United have beaten Brentford to the signature of the attacking midfielder, who spent the last six months with the Bees.
The Denmark international is set to become the Red Devils’ first signing of the summer
    Lisandro Martinez keen
Ajax star Lisandro Martinez is “very open” to joining Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
That is according to journalist Charles Watts who delivered an update on Martinez.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Watts said: “Arsenal are very much in the running.
“Our understanding is that Martinez is very open to Arsenal”
    Five for Ten
Manchester United are planning to complete five signings before the end of their pre-season tour.
One of them is Christian Eriksen, who is on the verge to join them as a free agent.
Ten Hag is keen to upgrade his midfield and United appear to finally be closing in on Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong after having a bid accepted.
The Dutchman is also keen on another of his former players, Lisandro Martinez, but Ajax are refusing to budge from their considerable asking price amid interest from Arsenal.
The Dutch champions are also demanding an eye-watering £70m fee for Antony with Ten Hag keen on his former player.
United are also in the market for a back-up goalkeeper following Dean Henderson’s loan move to Nottingham Forest
    On the Ronway
Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has put his £20million private jet up for sale as it’s too small.
Ronaldo bought the plane for the reported eight-figure fortune in 2015.
The star forward’s Gulfstream G200 has served him well with the striker often jetting off on holiday around Europe with partner Georgina Rodriguez and kids.
The Portugal captain also uses the aircraft to fly back and forth to Portugal regularly thanks to its top speed of 560mph.
And although the plane can seat between eight to 10 people, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is looking for a bigger model.
There could be a number of willing buyers too, with the 37-year-old often renting out the jet for a rate ranging from £5000-£8500 an hour.

    More on Lisandro Martinez
Manchester United are in advanced negotiations to snatch Ajax star and Arsenal transfer target Lisandro Martinez.
And Martinez would rather reunite with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford than join the Gunners.
According to The Athletic, United have “edged ahead as favourites” to sign the 24-year-old with a fee in the region of £35million.
The Gunners put in three offers – most recently for £34m.
But the Amsterdam giants want more for their centre-back and they are hardly under pressure to sell as his deal runs until June 2025
    No Morr Rav
Former Manchester United ace Ravel Morrison has been released by Derby after failing to agree terms for a new deal.
Morrison joined the Rams on a free transfer last summer following a year-long spell with Den Haag.
The attacking midfielder scored five goals in 38 appearances during his time at Pride Park Stadium, but he is now set to move on once again.
The 29-year-old took to Instagram to say thank you to the club with a touching statement.
Morrison posted: “Thank you Derby County, all the players, staff and fans for making me feel at home.
“Was a season full of ups and downs, but was a real honour to be part of such a wonderful club. “I wish everyone at the club success moving forward”
    Youngsters impress Ten Hag
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag plans to call on some of the brightest young stars from the academy next season.
Zidane Iqbal, 19, who made his first-team debut against Young Boys in the Champions League last December is understood to have already impressed Ten Hag.
Alejandro Garnacho, 18, who made two sub appearances last season, has also impressed, along with midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, 19.
The Dutchman is well known for investing on young talent, like he did at Ajax
    Jude Bellingham race
Manchester United and Chelsea are leading the transfer war ahead of three European rivals to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
According to Mundo Deportivo, five powerhouse clubs are circling to swoop for Bellingham in the summer.
And it looks like United and Chelsea are in pole position to sign the midfielder.
But they are facing intense competition from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Premier League rivals Liverpool

Adriana Leon has sealed a summer move to Manchester United – days after bidding farewell to West Ham following a three-year spell.
Leon who had been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona, joins Marc Skinner’s side on a two-year deal.
She said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled and honoured to join this historic football club.
“To be the first Canadian female player to play for Manchester United fills me with immense pride and excitement.
“I can’t wait to join this talented group and put on the famous red jersey”
    He’s the Ron
Chelsea are still weighing up a move for Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Blues are believed to be at the front of the queue to sign Ronaldo and are now considering an offer, according to The Athletic.
New owner Todd Boehly first made contact with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s agent Jorge Mendes last month but talks have continued since.
And according to the Independent, the forward is willing to accept a sizeable wage cut to push for a move as he is desperate to continue playing Champions League football
    On the Ron
Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been spotted for the first time since asking to leave the club.
Ronaldo wasn’t part of the returning crop of players for pre-season training on Monday as he was given extra time off due to family reasons.
But the star forward has been spotted at his country’s national training ground in Lisbon.
The Portugal international was seen driving a swanky white Rolls Royce 4×4 as he arrived at the training ground.
It’s currently unclear what the 37-year-old was doing at A Selecao’s hub, although it’s likely he was getting some training in
    ‘Not world class’
Manchester United fans should be underwhelmed by the signing of Christian Eriksen, according to Liverpool hero Danny Murphy.
Murphy told talkSPORT: “World class? Eriksen? No. No, no, no, no. He is a welcome addition to any squad because he is experienced and has quality.
“But when you’re looking at the big games when United are competing against Liverpool, [Manchester] City and Chelsea, is he going to play in that first XI? No, is the answer.
“He could change a game, yes, that’s fair. He could come off the bench and change a game but is he going to bring United closer to Liverpool and City? Nowhere near it.
“This is Man Utd. Is he better than [Bruno] Fernandes? No. Is he going to be playing in the first XI? No.
“Is he a welcome addition and good squad player? Yes. Should I be happy as a United fan? No. Would I be excited as a United fan? I’d be a bit underwhelmed by it”

Manchester United are confident of beating Arsenal to signing Lisandro Martinez after meeting with the Ajax hierarchy.

The Dutch champs’ new director of football Klaas-Jan Huntelaar travelled to London on Saturday to meet with United representatives, according to the Mirror.
And after talks with Huntelaar, the Red Devils are said to be confident of beating the Gunners in the transfer race to sign the centre-back.
The Manchester giants are said to have lodged a bid worth an initial £35.3m, with an extra £4.3m available in add-ons.

    United fans slam “lazy” scouting
United supporters have criticised the club’s scouting as they near the signings of Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia.
The unhappy fans claim the scouting system is “lazy” as the club are only interested in targets with Ajax connections or that Ten Hag tried to sign at Ajax.
A fan said: “They only follow what Ten Hag says, don’t expect much change in the coming years.”

According to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Manchester United and Everton were willing to pay up to £35m for the Netherlands star.
But the player had his heart set on Ajax.

Dave Kidd: Cristiano Ronaldo won’t improve a team chasing Champions League glory… he couldn’t even improve Man Utd

THE most famous footballer in Premier League history wants to leave England’s most famous club. So, yes, as a celebrity story, Cristiano Ronaldo’s desire to leave Manchester United is undeniably big.

Ronaldo is keen to depart Old Trafford as he desires to play Champions League footballCredit: Getty
But in footballing terms, not so much.
Because any serious-minded elite club who wish to match Ronaldo’s ambition of winning the Champions League, will recognise a 37-year-old on vast wages who, while still scoring plenty of goals, has made teams collectively worse in recent seasons.
And any serious-minded elite footballer, with ambitions of winning the Champions League or Premier League any time soon, will recognise a club which hasn’t come close to winning either trophy in almost a decade.
A team which lost their last six away games, clocked up just 57 Premier League goals and 58 points, conceded more goals than Brentford, and ended up with a zero goal difference.

DELAYS Man Utd return & Ten Hag crisis talks due to ‘family reasons’
Somehow, United finished sixth — but the same points total the previous season would have left them 11th.
They are sinking into mid-table, in a league so wealthy that mid-table clubs can buy world-class players and pay them handsomely.
New manager Erik ten Hag must privately fear that things will get worse before they get better.
The imminent signing of Christian Eriksen is an intriguing one, and a heartwarming one after the 30-year-old Dane’s cardiac arrest at last summer’s Euros. It may even be a genuinely good one.

But how many emerging world-class players will be attracted to United?
By now, footballers — especially those from overseas — are entering their prime years with scarcely any recollection of United having ever been any good.
United’s hierarchy often confuse ‘famousness’ and vast social-media numbers, with them being a desirable destination for top-quality footballers.
And, increasingly, they will begin to realise the difference. Ten Hag, a realist, seems to understand this.
He is looking to mould a new United in his own image — made up predominantly of young players and imports from the Dutch League.
This is a long-term strategy, with no guarantee of success, and it will need the sort of patience which the sensible majority of Arsenal fans are offering Mikel Arteta.
So Ten Hag is unlikely to mourn Ronaldo’s departure.
Yet the timing of the Portuguese’s news smacked of selfishness from Ronaldo and shyness from Ten Hag.
Ronaldo has been linked with a shock switch to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea weigh up a moveCredit: AFP
It is more than two months since Old Trafford last staged a United match — and Ten Hag had made a major play of ‘getting to work early’ after his departure from Ajax.
So why didn’t Ten Hag initiate Ronaldo’s exit, rather than waiting for it to happen?
When he was interviewed for the job, we were told the Dutchman boldly delivered home truths to Old Trafford’s hapless executives.
And while Ten Haag wasn’t swayed by his countryman Louis van Gaal declaring United a ‘commercial club not a football club’, he must have recognised a large dollop of truth in that statement.
A ballsy incoming manager would have been more proactive on Ronaldo. And Ten Hag is not going to succeed at Old Trafford as a shrinking violet.
United and Ronaldo re-married in haste last autumn — and both repented at leisure during a turgid, tumbleweed, driftwood campaign.
Ronaldo was not a dressing-room troublemaker.
He remains an excellent pro with the highest standards — as his desire to win more trophies at 37 seems to prove.
Portugal international Ronaldo scored 24 goals in 38 games in all competitions last seasonCredit: PA
But when Ronaldo is at your club, everything becomes about Ronaldo — on and off the pitch.
That is not even meant as a criticism, it’s just a fact.
When you have a prolific goalscorer in your team, he will always be a focal point.
But when that prolific goalscorer doesn’t have the stamina or inclination to defend from the front, you have a problem in modern football.
As Ronaldo’s previous club, Juventus, already discovered.
And when you employ a Galactico with half a billion social-media followers, his every move will flood the internet.
There’s no point in an old-school hack like me pretending otherwise — and there’s certainly no point in United doing so.
Ronaldo didn’t cause United’s problems. His re-signing was symptomatic of those problems and it accentuated them.

So where will the five-time Ballon d’Or winner go next? Unless new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is especially daft, it will not be to one of Europe’s top ten clubs.
The smart money is on Napoli — who, unusually, manufacture their own shirts and so would benefit far more than most clubs from selling tens of millions worldwide.
Because Ronaldo is very, very famous and he is still very, very good at scoring goals.
He just can’t improve elite teams any more.
    He couldn’t even improve United.

ENGLAND’S rugby men have now lost four Tests in a row.
The last two – against Australia and the Barbarians – when their opponents were reduced to 14 men.
They’ve had losing records in their last two Six Nations campaigns, including back-to-back Calcutta Cup defeats to Scotland for the first time in the professional era.
And they failed to show up for the 2019 World Cup final, despite being firm favourites.

    NICK A BRIT OF ALRIGHT
UNLESS you’re a tennis aficionado who watches the sport keenly outside of Wimbledon fortnight, there are only two things you really want to see at the All England Club – British victories and almighty tantrums.
And given that British victories are scarce in the second week, tantrums will have to do.
Middle Englanders, who make up the majority of Wimbledon crowds, are generally a reserved and polite bunch.
And whether they admit it or not, they enjoy nothing more than watching somebody being spectacularly rude.
Which is why the talented Aussie attention-seeker Nick Kyrgios was right to declare himself ‘one of the most important people in the sport’.
Rudeness, and arrogance too? Golly gosh, how frightfully exciting.

FOURTEEN of the world’s top 15 golfers are due to play at this week’s Scottish Open.
But Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter – who have made a combined total of 161 Major tournament appearances without a single win – are banned for taking shedloads of Saudi blood money to play in ‘rebel’ LIV Golf events.
The two Englishmen are among 16 golfers taking legal action against the DP World Golf Tour to fight their punishments – even though they had been warned of serious consequences if they got into bed with Saudi human-rights abusers.
Who could ever have imagined that golfers, and lawyers, might be so utterly shameless?

“For instance, if he got it taken off him, he’ll be disappointed. Ultimately, he’ll want to show everybody he can do it.

Malacia jetted into Manchester yesterday and went through the first stages of his medical.

    Do no Ron
Manchester United wantaway star Cristiano Ronaldo should stay put at Old Trafford, claims former Red Devils ace Louis Saha.
Saha told BonusCodeBets: “It could go both ways, no one can guarantee anything apart from Cristiano. He’s the only one to answer that.
“It wouldn’t be the right move for Man United to let him go because he’s such a big asset.
“I can definitely see him continuing to keep doing what he’s doing best, which is scoring goals and helping his club get back to where it belongs.
“He can still play a part under [Erik] Ten Hag, not only by scoring goals, but with his stature.
“I’m sure the new manager will want to implement some new rules and new standards that fit with Ronaldo. Maybe not so much on the pressing side, but his work ethic and his desire to always be accountable.
“Performance-wise, Ronaldo is up there with the best, he’ll drive the players that need confidence, like [Marcus] Rashford.
“It’s a new manager, new rules, new atmosphere and I’m very excited”
    In safe hands
Manchester United star David de Gea is confident that fans will “love” the style of play that new boss Erik ten Hag is implementing at the club.

“He plays a very good [type of] football so for sure the fans will love it”

Team-mates expect him to report to Carrington on Monday when most of those on international duty last month are due back in.
The 37-year-old has made up his mind that he wants out – and his representatives are actively seeking a move for him.
They have sounded out Chelsea and Bayern Munich about a possible switch while Napoli are also keen to offer a return to Italy.
Sporting Lisbon and Porto are both weighing up whether they can provide an escape route back to his homeland.

But United are ready to play hardball with their club legend. Their stance remains that the Portuguese is under contract and not for sale.
He scored 24 times last season and the Red Devils are struggling to bring in their striker targets so far this summer.
They backed away from Uruguayan Darwin Nunez when Liverpool made their move and have so far been priced out of a move for Ajax’s £70million-rated Brazil star Antony.
Ronaldo is due to spend a few days at Carrington before jetting off with his team-mates on a 16 day tour of Thailand and Australia on Friday.

Marcus Rashford has been impressed by Erik ten Hag’s training sessionsCredit: Getty
Ten Hag has impressed his players with their first week of pre-season – with forward Marcus Rashford speaking in glowing terms about him on Sunday.
But he faces a tough job to turn Ronaldo’s head. The former Real Madrid man is believed to be desperate to play in the Champions League again next season with time ticking on his career.
He also wants to be challenging for trophies in his final years as a player and does not believe United are capable of doing that.

The fact they have yet to add any new players to their squad has only heightened his concerns.
United will make full-back Tyrell Malacia their first new acquisition on Monday and are confident there will be more to follow.
However Ronaldo has already decided he will not be able to fulfil his ambitions at Old Trafford and wants out.
I don’t believe the club is willing to lose a player like himBruno Fernandes
Team-mate Bruno Fernandes confirmed last week he is back at training on Monday and expecting to see his countryman there.
He said: “What I hope is that Cristiano will be there with me on Monday. I don’t believe the club is willing to lose a player like him.”
Ronaldo played his last match for Portugal on June 9 so has now had more than his minimum entitlement of three weeks off.
Skipper Harry Maguire did not finish with England until five days later so is likely to be granted an extra couple of days.
Rashford has been back in training for a week already and feels sure the late arrivals will be impressed by the new Dutch boss Ten Hag.

Chelsea at front of queue to offer Cristiano Ronaldo Champions League football after Man Utd superstar’s transfer plea

CHELSEA are at the front of the queue to offer Cristiano Ronaldo Champions League football. The superstar forward sensationally told Manchester United he wants to quit.

The Red Devils are determined to stand firm and refuse to sell – but the Portuguese star insists they should give the green light to any ‘acceptable’ bids.
And that could see the five-time Ballon d’Or winner join rivals Chelsea, who finished third last season – and therefore have a seat at Europe’s top table.
Thomas Tuchel is on the hunt for a new striker following Romelu Lukaku’s season-long loan to Inter Milan.
That leaves Timo Werner and Kai Havertz as the only players who can really play up front in the squad.

say Cristiano Ronaldo will NOT be sold, Serge Gnabry EXCLUSIVE
The West Londoners are keen to make the forward their marquee signing this summer and have been keeping tabs on his situation with United.
New Blues chief Todd Boehly recently met with Ronaldo’s agent – Jorge Mendes – to discuss a host of topics, including a potential move for the sporting icon.
German giants Bayern are also interested in signing the veteran forward, who was a ray of light in an otherwise dismal season for the Red Devils.
Ronaldo was United’s top goalscorer, finding the back of the net 24 times and providing three assists in 39 appearances.

Sporting Lisbon inquired but Ronaldo’s £480,000-a-week wages mean there is little chance of a return while Serie A is a possible destination.
The transfer bombshell comes after a first week of pre-season training, where new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has earned rave reviews.
Ron, who is yet to return to Carrington, is unhappy at the prospect of playing a first season in almost two decades without Champions League football.

And he does not believe United’s squad are capable of mounting a title bid.
Sources in Portugal insist Ronaldo, who has 12 months left on his deal plus a one-year option, has not demanded a transfer and has no intention of doing so.
But United are refusing to deny he wants away.

Serge Gnabry is a shock name on the transfer radar of both Manchester clubs.
And he will leap to the top of City boss Pep Guardiola’s hit list if Raheem Sterling does leave the Premier League champions this summer.
Gnabry has turned down a new contract with Bayern Munich worth just over £200,000 a week.
Bayern are keen to keep the former Arsenal attacker who has just 12 months left on his current deal.
But the German champions will be open to a sale if they cannot reach an agreement.
And if Gnabry, 26, shows no sign of putting pen to paper in the current window, Bayern would be prepared to cash in for around £35million, as it is their last chance to demand a decent fee.
    In safe hands
Manchester United star David de Gea is confident that fans will “love” the style of play that new manager Erik ten Hag is implementing at the club.
De Geaclaims the improvements have made the United players “excited” about the future of the club.
The Spaniard told MUTV: “I think we are all very excited for the new season, for the new manager.
“He plays a very good [type of] football so for sure the fans will love it”

    Do no Ron
Manchester United wantaway star Cristiano Ronaldo should ignore Chelsea’s interest and stay put at Old Trafford, claims former striker Louis Saha.
    Ron to watch
Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to leave the club and several fans would be pleased to see him go.

    Smash and Gab
Manchester United remain in the hunt to sign Palmeiras star Gabriel Veron.
Veron’s good run of form got the likes of Barcelona, as well as both Manchester clubs interested in signing him.
The winger has been likened to Arsenal signing Gabriel Jesus, who left Palmeiras to join Manchester City as a teenager and went on to win four Premier League titles with the club.
The Brazilian has previously been linked with the Red Devils but it’s thought that he could be available for as little as £10million this summer

“There’s no way to know if you don’t live what it’s like to be…
“Wherever you go, no matter the place, it will be marked on who you are.

Chelsea are keen on a hijack of Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong’s £60million move to Manchester United.
That’s according to The Guardian, who report the Blues have a major advantage as De Jong wants Champions League football.
The West Londoners are taking a strong interest in the midfielder’s talks with Old Trafford chiefs over personal terms.
And if the Manchester giants’ deal hits a stumbling block, it’s claimed Chelsea are ready to pounce
    Stef on it
Inter Milan star Stefan de Vrij has emerged as one of Manchester United’s top transfer targets.

The Red Devils have not yet made an official offer as the centre-back is still waiting for confirmation from the Nerazurri regarding his future.

New Blues owner Todd Boehly met the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s representatives Gestifute last month.
Bayern, on the other hand, would first like to wait and see what happens with their own wantaway superstar Robert Lewandowski, as they have already signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool.

    More reasons to go

According to The Times, it’s not just professional reasons, such as playing in the Champions League, that led Ronaldo that decision.

That is because the star forward’s young family has been dealing with a difficult period
    More on Ronaldo
Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo believes he has “three or four years” left at the highest level and would like to spend them at a Champions League club.
That is according to The Times, who report that Ronaldo no longer views his future at United following last season’s state of disrepair.
And according to close friends, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s affection and respect for the Red Devils fans remains as strong as ever.
The star forward has been part of 19 consecutive Champions League seasons since leaving Sporting Lisbon for English football in the summer of 2003
    Ronaldo wants out
Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to leave the club if a suitable offer arrives in the summer.
That is according to The Times, who report that Ronaldo wants out of United because he wants to play in the Champions League.
The Red Devils missed out on Europe’s premiere competition after finishing sixth and will instead be in the Europa League.
That poses as a hammer blow for new manager Erik ten Hag, who is looking to turn things around at Old Trafford

Manchester United rookie Dylan Levitt is a shock target for Dundee United.
Levitt did well on loan at Tannadice last season and the Scottish outfit fancy buying him.
Cardiff City also keen on a loan deal for the midfielder but United may consider selling for the right price — thought to be around £300,000 plus extras.
The 21-year-old experienced another loan spell at Charlton in the 2020/2021 season, but only made three league appearances.
Levitt made his debut for Wales in 2020, having first been called up for his country in 2019
    Al or nothing
Alex Telles is set to be sold by Manchester United after his bust-up with Hannibal Mejbri in May.
SunSport exclusively revealed that United aces had to be pulled apart in shocking scenes following a training ground scrap at Carrington.
The two players were then named as being left-back Telles and midfielder Hannibal.
The heated altercation between the two men is understood to have happened in the days that followed the embarrassing 4-0 loss away at Brighton on May 7.
According to the Mirror, new manager Erik ten Hag has deemed Telles as surplus to requirements and will be allowed to depart Old Trafford.
It has been said that the Brazilian’s days are numbered at the Theatre of Dreams, with his bust-up with Mejbri claimed to be a reason why

    Frenkie de Jong going nowhere
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that he has “no intention” of allowing Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong to leave the club.
Last week it emerged that United have agreed an initial £56million fee for De Jong, with a possible £17m in add-ons.
Laporta said: “There are clubs that want him, not just United. We have no intention of selling him, he wants to stay.
“Frenkie is considered as one of the best midfielders in the world by all the experts. We are happy to have him.
“I’m going to do everything I can in my power so that Frenkie stays here, but there’s also a salary issue and that would have to be adjusted”
    Serge Gnabry exclusive
Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry is a shock name on the transfer radar of both Manchester clubs, according to SunSport’s Phil Thomas.
And Gnabry will leap to the top of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s hit list if Raheem Sterling does leave the Premier League champions for Chelsea this summer.
The winger has turned down a new contract with Bayern worth just over £200,000 a week.
The German champions are keen to keep the former Arsenal ace who has just 12 months left on his current deal.
But the Bavarians will be open to a sale if they cannot reach an agreement.
And if the 26-year-old shows no sign of putting pen to paper in the current window, Bayern would be prepared to cash in for around £35million, as it is their last chance to demand a decent fee
    Man Utd decline comment
Manchester United have declined to comment about Cristiano Ronaldo’s reported wish to leave the club.
According to the Daily Mirror, United have refused to answer questions regarding Ronaldo’s future.
Reports suggested that the Red Devils are not keen on letting the five-time Ballon d’Or winner go.
However, the star forward wishes to play in the Champions League next season

Napoli have sensationally entered the race to sign Ronaldo and could be willing to match the Red Devils’ asking price.
Bayern Munich could also view the Portuguese as a cheap replacement for Robert Lewandowski after signing Sadio Mane from Liverpool.
Chelsea have also been previously linked and they could offer the five-time Ballon d’Or winner Champions League football

    Andreas Pereira wants Flamengo return
Andreas Pereira has revealed he would like to return to Flamengo after spending the season on loan at the Brazilian club.
Flamengo had the option to make his move permanent but were unwilling to match Manchester United’s asking price.
Speaking to Brazilian reporter Raisa Simplicio, Pereira said: “I’m not the one who decides – it’s up to United.
“I would like to stay at Flamengo, but it’s not in my hands. I’ll see what’s best for me and the club. I love Flamengo. We will soon speak and decide.
“The relationship between myself and Flamengo has always been very good. This year was incredible for me. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll always leave with my head held high. I love the club, I love Flamengo, I’m Flamengo. If I leave, I will come back in the future.”
    United close to first signing
Manchester United could complete the signing of Tyrell Malacia within the next 24 hours, according to the BBC.
The Red Devils have agreed personal terms with the defender with only the finer details of the deal to be completed.
United agreed a £13million fee plus £1.7m in add-ons for the left-back, stealing Malacia from under the noses of Lyon.
    Rashford ready for “fresh start”
Marcus Rashford says he is ready to make a “fresh start” at Manchester United after the arrival of new manager Erik ten Hag.
The forward made only 13 Premier League starts last term but he is motivated to revive his own United fortunes with the benefit of “fresh tactics” and a full pre-season.
In an interview with MUTV Rashford said: “We have got that feeling of excitement and that buzz around the training ground again,” he said in an interview with MUTV. “It is a fresh start for everyone.
“I think for me, it is just fresh ideas, fresh tactics and a new personality (Ten Hag) that has been added to the team. I am looking forward to working with him.
“It has been tough, but we have all enjoyed the training sessions and we are mixing it up as well. We are not just doing all football and all running, we are doing a little bit of both so it’s fun and it’s good signs looking forward.”
    Frenkie de Jong going nowhere
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that he has “no intention” of allowing Frenkie de Jong to leave the club this summer.
Last week it emerged that the Red Devils have agreed an initial £56million fee for the Netherlands midfielder, with a possible £17m in add-ons.
But Laporta revealed De Jong wants to stay and the club do not want to sell.
He said: “There are clubs that want him, not just United. We have no intention of selling him, he wants to stay.
“Frenkie is considered as one of the best midfielders in the world by all the experts. We are happy to have him.
“I’m going to do everything I can in my power so that Frenkie stays here, but there’s also a salary issue and that would have to be adjusted.”

Bayern Munich could also view the Portuguese as a cheap replacement for Robert Lewandowski if the Pole is sold to Barcelona.
    Arsenal set for Martinez talks
Arsenal will meet Ajax in the coming days to discuss a deal for Lisandro Martinez and are refusing to give up on the defender despite his preference being to join Manchester United.
They had been adamant they would not let Martinez leave unless they received an offer that was too good to turn down, and now both Arsenal and United are nearing that price tag for the Argentine.
Arsenal have also had several offers rebuffed, but The Athletic report that the Gunners’ hierarchy have scheduled a meeting with Ajax this week and are preparing to ramp up negotiations.
The north Londoners are still hopeful of agreeing a deal with both the club and the player and believe Martinez is open to joining them despite his links to Erik ten Hag.
    Rashford impressed by youngsters’ effort
Marcus Rashford has been impressed with Manchester United’s young players since returning to training this week.
And he is hopeful some will get the chance to join the first-team squad on their pre-season tour of south-east Asia and Australia.
He told Manutd.com: “Hopefully some of them get the opportunity to come with us and play some minutes.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them started the season with us as well because they have all started training well.
“They have all come back in good condition, so there are only positive things I can say really. Everyone is giving 100 per cent, which is the main thing at this stage of the season, and it is probably going to take another week and a half until we are all really fit and raring to go.
“In these periods when it is tough, when you are doing your first sets of runs, all of the lads have been doing that and I think the young lads have done well. The first team lads have set a good example, so hopefully they get an opportunity to come on the tour and play some games.”
    Serie A move for Ronaldo?
Napoli have joined the race to sign wantaway Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Red Devils legend recently informed the club that he wants to leave Old Trafford before the start of the new season.
Chelsea and Bayern Munich are interested in acquiring the Portugal international’s services, with the latter keeping close tabs on his situation.
And Serie A big boys Napoli are also said to be keen on landing the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
That’s according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who claims the Italians are “interested” in making a sensational swoop for United’s talisman.
    Big bucks sales
It might not be for the same price this summer, but Man Utd look set to be letting go of Cristiano Ronaldo for the second time.
He reportedly wants to leave the club to play Champions League football.
The last time they sold him, he cost £80m and he went on to win four Champions League titles without him.

    Standing returns
Premier League clubs will get the go-ahead to open safe standing areas in their grounds from the start of the new season.
Ministers are expected to announce the success of a trial at five stadiums – and invite all top-flight teams to introduce their own sections.
It will mean that fans will be able to stand to watch Prem or Championship matches for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Standing has been illegal in the two top divisions since all-seater stadiums were introduced in 1994 following the Taylor report into the Hillsborough disaster.
But following a pilot scheme last season at Chelsea, Spurs, Cardiff City, Man City and Man United, all other top clubs will be give the all clear to follow suit.
A final report on the government-commissioned trial seen by The Sun on Sunday says the sections delivered a positive impact on spectator safety and improved fans’ matchday experience.

De Jong de-lighted by top comp
Chelsea are hovering as Manchester United sweat on Frenkie de Jong agreeing personal terms over a £60million move.
That’s the claim from the Guardian, who say the Blues have one major advantage as the Barcelona midfielder wants Champions League football.
The Red Devils negotiated a fee close to £60m as Barca aim to ease their financial problems by cashing in on a major asset.
But it’s understood Chelsea are now taking a strong interest in De Jong’s talks with Old Trafford chiefs over personal demands.
Should there be any stumbling blocks in negotiations, the Blues seem ready to pounce.

    Toff call
Jesse Lingard may only join Everton as a last resort despite optimism of his capture within Goodison.
Lingard is now a free agent after leaving Manchester United.
Toffees boss Frank Lampard sees him as a major target.
And the Warrington-born target would not even have to move house if he switched to Goodison.
But the 29-year-old is understood to be wary of moving to a club with major money worries.
    Surge for Serge
    And another SunSport transfer exclusive…
Serge Gnabry is a shock name on the transfer radar of both Manchester clubs.
And he will leap to the top of City boss Pep Guardiola’s hit list if Raheem Sterling does leave the Premier League champions this summer.
Gnabry has turned down a new contract with Bayern Munich worth just over £200,000 a week.

    Piers tries his luck
With Cristiano Ronaldo ready to quit Manchester United for Champions League football, there will no doubt be a few of Europe’s elite clubs scrambling to sign him.
But Arsenal fan Piers Morgan attempted a cheeky bid to get the Portuguese superstar to the Emirates.
The TalkTV host shared a photo of himself presenting Ronaldo with a Gunners shirt, as Georgina Rodriguez looks on on Twitter.
Morgan captioned the snap, “It’s time @Cristiano #afc” in the ultimate of cheeky tweets.

    Ron his way
Chelsea are at the front of the queue to offer Cristiano Ronaldo Champions League football.
    Good morning Man Utd fans
Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to leave the club if a suitable offer arrives in the summer.
That is according to The Times, who report that Ronaldo wants out of United because he wishes to play in the Champions League.
The Red Devils missed out on Europe’s top competition after finishing sixth and will instead be in the Europa League.
That poses as a devastating blow for new manager Erik ten Hag, who is looking to turn things around at Old Trafford.
United have angrily responded to Ronaldo’s desire to quit Old Trafford telling him that won’t happen.
A club insider told the Daily Mirror: “Cristiano is not for sale.
“We want – and fully expect – him to be with us next season.”
Meanwhile, United have made Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong their summer transfer “priority”.
According to the Daily Mirror, De Jong is undoubtedly United’s most important target of the summer so far.
The midfielder is earmarked as Ten Hag’s priority in the off-season and will go a long way to replacing the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic in the centre.
The Netherlands international will put pen to paper on a five-year contract worth £250,000 per week once he touches down at Old Trafford following a £56million deal with Barca.
Finally, United star Dean Henderson has completed a season-long loan move to Nottingham Forest.
Henderson is looking for regular football ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and is expected to be Forest’s starting goalkeeper with last season’s No1 Brice Samba heading for the exit.
The newly-promoted team will pay all of the England international’s salary and it is understood there is no option to buy.
The 25-year-old will also not be able to compete against United during his loan stint at the City Ground
    Serge Gnabry exclusive
Serge Gnabry is a shock name on the transfer radar of both Manchester clubs.
And he will leap to the top of City boss Pep Guardiola’s hit list if Raheem Sterling does leave the Premier League champions this summer.
Gnabry has turned down a new contract with Bayern Munich worth just over £200,000 a week.
Bayern are keen to keep the former Arsenal attacker who has just 12 months left on his current deal.
