‘Last time they lost 3-1’ – Watch classy Jose Mourinho reassure Inter fan for Barcelona clash after Roma win at San Siro

JOSE MOURINHO showed his softer side by reassuring a rival club’s fan he had nothing to fear from a clash with Barcelona. The Roma boss put a supportive arm around the Inter supporter after his visiting side won at the San Siro on Saturday.

A spectacular volley from Paulo Dybala and a strike from ex-Manchester United star Chris Smalling sealed a 2-1 Serie A victory for the Giallorossi.
Afterwards the Special One appears to have had an impromptu chat with a home fan at the ground.
It is not clear exactly what was said from the barely audible video clip during an exchange in Italian.
But journalist Ronald Morgan reports the Portuguese was offering words of comfort ahead of all-star Barca’s Champions League visit to Inter tonight.

Mourinho apparently told him not too worry, and added: “The last time they came here they lost 3-1!”
In fact, the Catalans won 2-1 at Inter on their last visit for a Champions League group match three years ago.
But Mourinho, who is often portrayed as an uncompressing figure on the touchline, was clearly trying to placate the seemingly shy fan.
Both sides will be desperate to win the Group C clash at the San Siro this evening.

Here’s how Chelsea could line up on Wednesday night in their crucial clash with AC Milan

Potter, 47, was announced as the new Blues boss last month – the No1 target was signed a matter of hours after Thomas Tuchel was sacked.
The former Brighton gaffer has only handled two games in charge so far.
It was a 1-1 debut draw with RB Salzburg and a last minute Prem win against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Marc Cucurella missed the weeked’s game through an illness and Potter used a 4-2-2-2 formation.

Cucurella was back in training on Tuesday morning but presuming he isn’t fit enough to start, Ben Chilwell should continue to fill in at left-back.
Reece James will play the on the opposite flank at right-back, with Thiago Silva and summer signing Wesley Fofana in the centre of defence.
Italian stalwart Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic will hold the midfield.
N’Golo Kante is back in training and may see some action off the bench.

In attack, Christian Pulisic has his confidence back after falling out with the departing Tuchel.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored with a super turning volley against Palace at the weekend so expect him to remain up top with Raheem Sterling.
Star Sterling revealed his new boots yesterday, which come with a special tribute to his sister and the hardship they endured.
The bus-seat patterns are inspired by memories of taking three different buses as a child to make it to training.
Sterling said: “3 buses to get to training. 18, 182 and 140. I’ll never forget those numbers.”
Alternatively, Potter could launch Kante into the mix in this crucial European clash.
If Cucurella returns, Potter could switch back to the 5-3-2 formation used against Salzburg with Sterling and James as attacking wing-backs.

Mendy, Kante and Cucurella are all back in training so Mendy could come in to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Chelsea, who are in Group A, are set for ties against French giants PSG and a Madrid side that includes former Manchester City forward Caroline Weir.
This will be the second time in the space of three months that Madrid have come up against one of England’s top sides following their defeat of Manchester City.
That August clash saw Weir net the winner that sealed City’s exit from the contest at the qualifying stage for a second successive season.
The Blues, who reached the finals in 2021, will also take on PSG who finished the runners-up in France’s top-flight last term.
The last Champions League clash between the sides was back in the quarter-final stage of the contest in March 2019.

And Emma Hayes’s aces emerged the victors of that tie (with a 3-2 aggregate score line) knocking their rivals out to reach the semis phase.
They will also face Albanian side KS Vllaznia, who reached the group stage for the first time in their history this season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are set for a reunion with former boss Joe Montemurro with the WSL leaders drawn into the same group as Juventus.
It will also see Gunners’ summer signing Lina Hurtig go up against the Italian side she helped to reach the last eight of the contest last term.
And Jonas Eidevall’s stars, who will play their Group C home fixtures at the Emirates, will also face a stern test home and away against Lyon.
