Cristiano Ronaldo v Wayne Rooney, from outstanding Man Utd careers to glam Wags, huge wealth and rows like ‘Winkergate’

CRISTIANO RONALDO and Wayne Rooney are at loggerheads… AGAIN.Forget “Winkergate”, the DC United boss says Ronaldo is becoming an “unwelcome distraction” at Manchester United following a series of hissy fits.
Ronaldo and Rooney have both been successful on the football pitch
Rooney’s comments resulted in his former team-mate hitting back in a brand NEW exclusive interview with SunSport columnist Piers Morgan on TalkTV.
Ronaldo took aim at Rooney’s early retirement as well as making personal attacks on the England all-time top scorer’s looks.
CR7 slammed: “I don’t know why he criticises me so badly… probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level.
“I’m not going to say that I’m looking better than him. Which is true…”

Rooney had previously questioned whether Ronaldo re-signing for United was a success.
When asked if Ronaldo’s signing has worked out for United, Rooney said: “You’d have to say no, at the minute.
“I think he’s scored goals, he’s scored important goals in the Champions League early on in the season. He scored the hat-trick against Tottenham.
“But I think if you look to the future of the club you would have to go with younger, hungry players to do the best to lift Manchester United over these next two, three years.

“And obviously Cristiano is getting on a bit. He certainly isn’t the player he was when he was in his 20s. And that happens, that’s football.
“He’s a goal threat but I think the rest of the game they need more, they need young, hungry players.”
Ronaldo has since hit-back, although it may have been tongue in cheek, by sharing a photo from MNF on Instagram and commenting “Two jealous” alongside an eyes emoji.
Fired barbs aside, there’s no doubt the pair have had amazing careers, built up huge wealth, scored glam Wags, and have a lifestyle that’s enviable of the football world.
And, of course, there’s been controversies along the way…
    Lethal pairing
Ronaldo might not have played the best football of his career at United, but when he played alongside Rooney from 2004-2009 they formed a lethal partnership.
They won three league titles together, as well as the Champions League in their five years at Old Trafford leading the Red Devils front line.
A counter-attacking goal against Arsenal at the Emirates in a Champions League semi-final epitomised the chemistry the pair had on the pitch.
Ronaldo managed 118 goals in 292 games, scooping the Golden Boot in 2008.
Rooney would go on to become United’s all-time top goalscorer with 253 goals from 559 matches.
When Ronaldo left United, he grew into a bigger superstar – scoring 450 goals for Real Madrid in just 438 games and adding four more Champions League titles to his name.
He would then win Serie A with Juventus twice, before returning to United where he reached 700 career club goals.
Internationally, his career knows no bounds. With 117 goals for Portugal he’s scored more than anyone else in international football, as well as lifted the European Championships.
Rooney did become England’s all-time top scorer, but looks likely to lose that mantle to Harry Kane.

After leaving United, spells at Everton, then DC United wound down his career.
Derby County gave Roon a return to our shores, but went back across the pond to manage DC United following the Rams’ relegation.
    Wags
Rooney and Ronaldo, because of their high-profiles, were always going to have their love-lives splashed on the front pages.
Rooney went for his childhood sweetheart, Coleen. After growing up together in Croxteth from the age of 12, they married in a glitzy ceremony in Portofino, Italy.
The wedding was paid for by OK! Magazine who were said to have secured the rights to details and pictures of the nuptials for a cool £2.5million.
They have four sons together, Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass.
Ronaldo was linked to a string of beautiful women in the past, and dated Russian supermodel Irina Shayk.
But, after playing the field, he fell in love with former shop assistant Georgina Rodriguez.
The Spanish stunner has since blossomed into a marketing man’s dream, inking a reported five-figure Instagram deal with fashion house Pretty Little Thing, and is ambassador for the group alongside Kourtney Kardashian and Molly-Mae Hague.

And if that’s not enough, she’s the star of her own Netflix reality TV series I Am Georgina.
Not to be outdone, Coleen appears in Rooney – an Amazon Prime documentary – and talks about the early stages of their romance as well as claims of cheating in their relationship.
Like the Rooneys, Cristiano and Georgina have their own brood. She gave birth to Bella earlier this year to join Cristiano Jr, Eva Maria, Alana Martina and Mateo, but sadly lost Bella’s twin while giving birth.
    Glam lifestyles
Money is certainly no object for the pair, who boast incredible fortunes.
Rooney is said to be worth around £144m, while Ronaldo has amassed a pot worth £425m.
That’s meant off the pitch they live a life of luxury, from living in mansions, driving expensive cars, owning super yachts and flying in private jets.
After four years of delays, the Rooneys finally moved into their £20m Cheshire home.
Called ‘Mini-Versailles’, the six-bedroom home sits on 40 acres of land.
It houses a television room, bar, wine store, snooker room, cinema, gym, hot tub, swimming pool, plunge pool and steam room.
There is also not one but two lifts – one for the family to use and another for visitors.
Outside it boasts stables, a six-car garage, an orangery and two man-made fishing lakes.

This stunning villa in Marbella is one of Ronaldo’s prized possessions
Ronaldo is back in Manchester and renting a mansion that used to belong to Andy Cole.
However, the jewel of his property empire is in Marbella.
In 2019, Ronaldo reportedly spent £1.4m on a holiday home in the Costa del Sol.
The area the lavish house sits in is called ‘The Superstars Cul-De-Sac’ because of the number of famous residents who live there.
UFC star Conor McGregor is also believed to own a property nearby.
It’s got four bedrooms, high-vaulted ceilings and incredible views of the sea.
There’s a private golf course, the driveway is lit up by LED lights, it has a private gym, an in-built cinema and infinity pool.
Ronaldo has also spent his well-earned cash on a luxury £5.5m yacht and a £20m private jet.
And his £17m car collection is one of the best in sport – boasting high-profile motors including a Bugatti Centodieci worth £8.5m.
Most recently, he was seen in a £200,000 Aston Martin DBS driving into Carrington.
Rooney has the old footballers’ favourite – a £150,000 Land Rover, among his fleet.
His old Lamborghini Gallardo from 2007 was recently listed on AutoTrader.

    Controversies
Off the pitch, Ronaldo has more or less kept himself out of trouble.
On it, the pair were famously embroiled in “Winkergate” – when the Portuguese superstar saw his then team-mate sent off in a World Cup quarter-final between England and Portugal, and delivered a nod to the cameras.
Incredibly, the two brushed the incident under the carpet when they returned for Man Utd.
Two years prior to that moment, Rooney would find himself on the front pages of the papers after admitting having sex with prostitutes after he was caught on CCTV visiting a backstreet brothel.
Rooney was said to have paid £45 for the services of a 48-year-old grandmother in a rubber catsuit and a mother-of-six dressed as a cowgirl 10 times.
“Foolish as it now seems I did on occasions visit massage parlours and prostitutes,” he said.
Rooney has had his fair share of front-page headlinesCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd
Most recently, Rooney was seen in a hotel room with a group of women
“I now regret it deeply and hope people may understand that it was the sort of mistake you make when you are young and stupid. It was at a time when I was very young and immature.”
In 2008 prostitute Jennifer Thompson claimed her and fellow sex worker Helen Wood were also paid £1,000 to have a threesome with him, while wife Coleen was five-months pregnant.
Almost 10 years later, Rooney would again get himself in bother – when he was stopped by police for drink-driving while partying with reveller Laura Simpson.
A move to the States failed to curb his appetite for fun. He was seen enjoying a drink with barmaid Vicki Rosiek, although nothing untoward happened.

And last year, he was pictured with a group of young woman in a hotel room having fallen asleep. Again, nothing was said to have happened.
A rape claim against Ronaldo made by Kathryn Mayorga in Las Vegas from 2009 has always been firmly denied and was recommended for dismissal in late 2021. More

And the Toon Army boss is already looking at strengthening his squad in the winter.
According to reports in Spain, Carrasco was close to securing a switch to St James’ Park in the off-season, but could be allowed to leave Spanish club this time around.
That’s because Atletico need to raise funds after not only failing to progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League, but crashing out of Europe altogether.
The report claims that Carrasco is likely to be one of the first names out of the Metropolitano Stadium, with Newcastle set to be at the front of the queue.

The winger has just over 18 months remaining on his Atletico terms, meaning he could be available to sign on the cheap.
Carrasco would bring a wealth of experience having played more than 150 times in La Liga and more than 50 in the Champions League.

    He would also offer versatility.
The 29-year-old is able to play out wide and also as a wing-back.

A number of well-known speedsters, unsurprisingly, made the top ten.
But an unfamiliar name stunned footy fans by finishing joint top of the speed rankings – which were judged by kilometres per hour.
Shakthar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk – who has courted interest from a number of clubs, including Arsenal – topped the list with a top speed of 36.6kmh.

“So, fair to assume he’s the next big thing.”
Another said: “I’ve had my eye on Mudryk for a while (Madrid plays Waxtap every year and sounds like Modric).

And while he follow through with it, Hendo revealed that he would have been joined by team-mate Alexander-Arnold were it not for a last-minute intervention.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Henderson revealed: “The days after beating Tottenham in the Champions League final were a blur.
“We returned to Liverpool for an open-topped bus parade with the trophy the following day. Within the week, I was in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s room in Portugal.
“We were there for the Nations League finals. We’d just had a training session with England, but our heads were still in the Estadio Metropolitano, and Trent had an idea.

“‘Let’s get tattoos!’ he said. ‘We should get the Champions League trophy tattooed on our calves.’
“I haven’t got many tattoos. Just ones of my kids, which are on my ribs. Straight away, I said I was up for it, though.
‘”You’ll do it, too, right?’ I said. It was he who had suggested it, after all. ‘One hundred per cent,’ he said.”
Henderson explained that he had arranged for former Liverpool defender Daniel Agger to help them book in their tattoos due to his expertise on the matter.

And with everything then arranged, Henderson added: “I pulled up outside his (Trent’s) villa at 11am.
“I thought he might be waiting, but it was quiet. I waited for a bit, then he came out. He was looking a bit sheepish.
‘”Come on, get in,’ I said. He said ‘I can’t come’.”
‘”You what?’ My face dropped. ‘What do you mean, you can’t come?’
“‘I can’t come because my mam says I’m not allowed,’ he said.
“‘You f****** what?’ I said. ‘Get in the car, man. We’ve got to go. ‘Are you serious? Your mam says you can’t get a tattoo?’
“It turned out that Trent had mentioned the tattoo to his brother, Tyler, who had mentioned it to his mam, and she had rung Trent up and basically said, ‘You’re not getting a tattoo. End of.'”
And that was the end of that. Henderson posted a photo of the tattoo alongside artist Tommy Montaya, which in another world would have included his Liverpool team-mate as well.

Liverpool drawing Real Madrid is VERY bad omen for Jurgen Klopp due to amazing Champions League fact

LIVERPOOL should be nervous about their Champions League draw due to their recent record against teams from Madrid.Jurgen Klopp’s side were drawn against Real Madrid after finishing second in their group, despite picking up 15 points.

Finishing behind Napoli left them on the harder side of the draw as they would have to face teams that won their group, like the La Liga giants.
While the fans of the Anfield club will be looking for revenge for their two final defeats to Real Madrid, one person has pointed out a weird coincidence since the German manager was appointed.
Journalist Colin Millar wrote: “With Jürgen Klopp as manager, Liverpool have exclusively been knocked out of the Champions League by clubs from Madrid.
“The one season they didn’t play a club from Madrid, they won the Champions League – in Madrid.”

In the last two season, Liverpool have been knocked out by Real Madrid, once in the quarter-finals and in the final earlier this year.
In 2019/20, Liverpool were beaten in both legs by Diego Simone’s Atletico Madrid in the round of 16.
The season before that, Liverpool avoided playing a club from Madrid and beat Tottenham in an all-Premier League final, which happened to be played in the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
The previous year, Liverpool was beaten in the final by Real Madrid, and before that Klopp had not managed them in the competition.

Klopp’s side will be hoping that the ominous omen means very little and will be able to overcome Carlo Ancelotti’s side and progress to the next round.

Up first is a Carabao Cup clash against Derby County which will be followed by a league fixture against Southampton at Anfield. More

Champions League draw sparks Prem fixture chaos with NO remaining spots for Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Man City games

PREM chiefs were left with a further fixtures headache after the Champions League last 16 draw.League bosses had hoped to be able to catch up some of the outstanding matches postponed in the wake of The Queen’s death in September.

Tottenham’s trip to Manchester City and Liverpool’s visit to Chelsea were both called off over the mourning fortnight.
But with Spurs and Liverpool pooled in the same “half” of the Champions League draw for TV purposes, those matches cannot now be rescheduled until the back end of March.
If Tottenham and City had been paired together, it would have allowed them to play their postponed game at the Etihad in February or early-March.
But the draw means there are now no free weeks until approaching the end of the season.

That’s because their last-16 ties will be played across four weeks, with the Carabao Cup and the possibility of FA Cup replays filling up that period.
At least City’s game against Arsenal, which was postponed so the Gunners could fit in their delayed Europa League tie with PSV, can now be pencilled in for the week starting February 13, with the match due to be screened by Amazon Prime rather than BT Sport.
Manchester United, two fixtures behind, have no vacant dates so far available for their matches against Crystal Palace and Leeds.
This comes after Erik ten Hag’s side could only finish second in their Europa League group, meaning they have two extra games to come against Barcelona in the play-off round.

United needed to beat Real Sociedad by two goals and were on course to do exactly that when Alejandro Garnacho swept home his first professional goal.

Tottenham fans all saying same thing after drawing AC Milan as Peter Crouch pleads ‘take me back’ to iconic 2011 clash

IF there’s one former Tottenham player who knows all about beating AC Milan, it’s Peter Crouch. The ex-England striker was part of the Spurs team who sent the reigning Serie A champions crashing out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage nearly 12 years ago.

And after the two clubs were paired with each other in this morning’s draw, Crouch pleaded ‘take me back’ on Twitter to his memorable winner at San Siro.

Tottenham fans responded to Crouch’s tweet, with one saying ‘what a finish’ while another simply said ‘unbelievable’.
One supporter even questioned him for not celebrating with Aaron Lennon, who assisted him, and Crouch replied ‘I regret that but it’s not everyday you notch the winner in the San Siro’.
Antonio Conte’s side will be praying for a similar outcome when they travel to Milan in February.

But they’ll be hoping for a far less stressful evening than their most recent European fixture.
That’s because Spurs needed an injury-time victory in Marseille to book their place in the knockout stages, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s last-gasp winner securing their place at the top of the group.
Naturally, drawing Milan was always going to bring back memories of when the north Londoners progressed 1-0 on aggregate in 2010-2011.
Travelling to Italy without Ledley King and Gareth Bale, while Luka Modric was only on the bench, Harry Redknapp’s team defied the odds to beat an AC Milan side that included several big-names.

Thiago Silva, Clarence Seedorf, Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all started the game, while Alexandre Pato was amongst the subs.
