    Nagelsmann tactical masterclass wins through
Knowing they had a one goal lead from the first leg, Julian Nagelsmann set his side out brilliantly today.
The first half tactics of being rough but fair in their challenges on Lionel Messi and giving him no time on the ball at all, really cut off the supply for Kylian Mbappe with Neymar absent.
When the opportunity presented itself, they came forward, looking to get that sucker-punch to really hurt the visitors.
Into the second half, where PSG had to through caution to wind more, Bayern picked them off and scored two goals to top off as very comfortable victory over the two legs.
Bayern Munich the team to avoid
When Julian Nagelsmann made his substitutions this evening, it really underpinned the depth of quality in this Bayern squad.
Bringing on the likes of Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry and Sadio Mane from the bench is the sort of dilemma a team like PSG would now dream of.
The balance of power shifted this evening and it will take more than just changing the manager for something to change with the Paris outfit.
Constantly left wanting on the biggest stage, it is a case of déjà vu for the French.

    French class prevents PSG progressing
Of all the players to prevent the visitors having a sniff of goal tonight, Dayot Upamecano put in a stellar performance.
Kylian Mbappe looked lively in the opening stages of the game but from that moment onwards the young French defender bossed him.

FT: Bayern Munich 2-0 PSG (Agg: 3-0)
It was a professional performance from the Germans this evening.
They had the cushion of a goal lead from the first leg and managed the game well before getting the goal to put it beyond the visitors.
Serge Gnabry’s goal was just icing on top of the cake at the end.

FT: Bayern Munich 2-0 PSG (Agg: 3-0)
The referee brings the game to a close to a huge roar from the home fans who are in party mode now.
Bayern Munich are through to the quarter-finals.
A deserved victory for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
    Bayern Munich 2-0 PSG
90+4. All the wind has certainly been knocked out of PSG’s sails now.
It is one-way traffic here as Mane slots the ball home.
Immediately the flag goes up for offside and the replay shows Sadio Mane was just a fraction offside.
    Bayern Munich 2-0 PSG
90+2. Bayern work the ball for once again.
Davies gets a shot away but Donnarumma does well to save with his legs.
This is turning into a very comfortable victory for the hosts.

    Bayern Munich 2-0 PSG
    90. The goal stands and PSG are heading out.
We are going to have five minutes added on here.
That means nothing now to the visitors.

Goal – Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich)

    88. Zaire-Emery gets away down the left.
He crosses it into the path of Mbappe on the run.
Fantastic tackle by Davies to block the striker’s effort.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    86. Just as it looks like Hakimi is in on goal, Upamecano comes from nowhere to dispossess him.
The young French defender has been immense tonight.
Gnabry comes on for Coman, Cancelo on for Muller.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    84. The corner once again finds Ramos who heads inches wide of the post.
He has had the best chances for PSG in this game tonight, that was a big chance for the visitors.
Bayern are happy to sit deep now and protect their lead.

    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    82. Mbappe wins a corner for the visitors.
Time is starting to run out now.
    Vitinha comes off for Ekitike.
    Mendes comes off for Bernat.
    Musiala comes off for Mane.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    80. Leroy Sane is keeping PSG in this game.
Another quick counter for the hosts, the ball is crossed towards Sane who mis-controls it out for a goal kick.
They should have brought Mane on, this game would be over.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    78. PSG look devoid of creativity.
If you can shutdown Messi and Mbappe you cannot see where the chances are going to be created.
Bayern have dealt well with the Parisian threat this evening.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    76. Zaire-Emery comes on for Ruiz.
Sane has the ball heading towards goal but he dwells on it for too long once again.
PSG are able to get back and get a foot in.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    74. Galtier could be looking for work tomorrow if this result stays like this.
Bayern are looking very comfortable with a two goal lead.
They are starting to stretch PSG on the counter, this time Sane wasting a good opportunity.

    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    72. Messi is having to come looking for the ball more.
It means him dropping into deeper positions.
He struggles to effect the game from these deep areas.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    70. Muller will now slot into the forward position.
Bayern clear the PSG attack and immediately break with numbers.
The final pass is a bit loose and allows the visitors to get a touch to put it behind for a corner.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    68. Mbappe controls the ball just inside the box.
He turns and shoots from a tight angle, forcing Sommer into a save.
Bayern are looking to bring some fresh legs on now.
Choupo-Moting comes off for Leroy Sane.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    66. That was a fantastic save from Sommer to keep PSG out.
Other than Ramos there was nobody attacking the corner from the visitors.
Heads are starting to drop a little now in the Parisians.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    64. PSG have a mountain to climb now.
They need to find two goals from somewhere.
Mbappe and Messi will need to work some magic here in Germany.
Ramos meets the corner and Sommer pulls off a brilliant save to keep him out.

    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    62. Marco Verratti will have to take the blame for that one.
He was robbed of the ball on the edge of the box.
Muller unselfishly squared it for Choupo-Moting to side-foot home.

Stamford Bridge was left bouncing as goals from Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz sent Chelsea into the last eight.
And the impressive win came hot on the heels of a 1-0 league victory over rivals Leeds on Saturday.
The two games were both marked as must-wins for Potter, who had previously picked up just one victory in 2023.
Fans and pundits piled in on the ex-Brighton boss after a disastrous defeat to bottom-place Southampton in February.

Yet Chelsea owner Todd Boehly decided not to pull the trigger after doubling down on his long-term vision.
And the Telegraph claims Potter helped convince the American to stay onboard by having a deep chat with him over the current crisis.
Potter is also said to have had “heart-to-hearts” with numerous Chelsea players and staff members.
The tactician gave assurances to any doubters to keep the faith, and also listened to any concerns about his time in charge.

Potter’s move certainly paid off, picking up just his third win in 16 league matches against Leeds at the weekend.
But the best was yet to come as Chelsea moved one step closer to a potential third Champions League title last night.
The Blues had it all to do after losing the first leg in Germany 1-0.
Yet a change in formation, which started at Leeds, brought the best out of several below-par players.
And Chelsea now await their fate in next week’s quarter-final draw. More

Parker was in the dugout last night as the Belgian side were dumped out of the Champions League by Benfica 7-1 on aggregate.
It was Brugge’s biggest margin of defeat (1-7) on aggregate ever in European knockout football (excluding qualifiers) while it was the first time that they had conceded five or more away from home in the Champions League since a 6-1 defeat to Monaco in November 1988.

The West Londoners opened the scoring with Raheem Sterling just two minutes before half-time but it was their second goal that led to intense protests from the visitors.
Graham Potter’s side earned a contentious spot-kick after the ball hit Marius Wolf’s arm, which appeared to support the rest of his body during a tackle.
Kai Havertz took the shot and rattled the post but the referee called for a retake as players got inside the box too early and the Germany international didn’t miss his second attempt on 53 minutes.
That was the goal that made it 2-1 on aggregate and took Chelsea through to the quarter-finals, but Bellingham was incensed at full-time.

Fan footage caught the midfielder having an intense shouting match with Marc Cucurella.
The England international had some angry words with Cucurella while he was held back by Kalidou Koulibaly, Enzo Fernandez and Christian Pulisic, but the situation thankfully didn’t escalate.
However, the 19-year-old was still enraged as he slammed his bottle to the grass and sent its contents flying all over the pitch.
Bellingham then appeared to push away the lens of a cameraman, who was trying to film him walk off.

Spurs are deep in a top-four battle and are trailing in their Champions League round of 16 tie with AC Milan.
Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is still widely loved among Spurs fans, has been linked with a return.
However, another top drawer manager available is Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked by Chelsea earlier this season and replaced with Graham Potter.
And talkSPORT host Woods, an Arsenal fan, says Tuchel would be a “great fit” at Tottenham, which got under the skin of Blues fans.

Woods said on talkSPORT: “I just don’t know whether it’s ever good to go back.
“Of course we can look at the ones where they did go back and it did go well – Mourinho going back to Chelsea and that sort of stuff – but I don’t know with Mauricio Pochettino whether it would be the best move for him.
“I actually think Thomas Tuchel would be a great shout. Managers who come back into the league and who have something to prove.
“Seriously, though, I just think with Thomas Tuchel, in the small space of time that he came into Chelsea and arranged that team – they’d already got top four from Frank Lampard so they had a lot of young talent, he made a few changes and won the Champions League.

‘I don’t give a s***’ – Ex-Liverpool star blames ref for Dortmund’s Chelsea loss as he slams ‘arrogant, afraid’ official

BORUSSIA DORTMUND midfielder Emre Can labelled referee Danny Makkelie “arrogant” and “afraid” following their 2-1 aggregate defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League. The Bundesliga giants took a 1-0 lead into the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening.

But goals from Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz handed Graham Potter’s men a place in the quarter-finals.
The crucial moment came shortly after the break when Ben Chilwell’s cross struck the arm of Marius Wolf.
After going over to the monitor, Makkelie awarded the spot kick.
But that was just the beginning of the drama.

Havertz stepped up and struck the post as Chelsea rued squandering a gilt-edged chance.
But just seconds later they were given the opportunity all over again.
That’s because the VAR spotted that Salih Ozcan, who cleared the ball away after it came back off the post, had encroached before the penalty was taken.
Havertz took responsibility once more, going the same way to convert at the second time of asking.

And the scoreline stayed that way until full-time as Dortmund were left raging at the officials.
Ex-Liverpool man Can was then interviewed after the final whistle and did not hold back in his assessment of Makkelie’s performance.
He said: “The referee. It was his fault today. How can you give the second penalty in the situation? How does it work? That simply does not work!
“I don’t give a s*** who walked in there before. He was arrogant the whole game – that’s where it starts. We lost here undeservedly because of the referee.”
Sensationally, Can then went on to speculate whether Makkelie was fearful of the Chelsea supporters.
He added: “We play here at Stamford Bridge. Maybe he’s afraid of the fans, I don’t know.
“But then UEFA should send another referee.”
Chelsea’s win ended Dortmund’s 10-game winning streak since the World Cup.
But Edin Terzic’s side are still in with a good chance of winning the Bundesliga title as they sit level on points with table toppers Bayern Munich.
And the Dortmund boss will have to quickly overcome the frustration of their European exit.
Like Can, Terzic could not hide his disappointment at the referee after the defeat to Chelsea.
