Kate Abdo confronts Micah Richards about outrageous rumour live on TV… and it turns out it’s true

CBS SPORTS presenter Kate Abdo hilariously called out a rumour about Micah Richards live on air… before the ex-Manchester City man confirmed it was true.Abdo hosted the American broadcaster’s coverage of the Champions League final between Man City and Inter Milan on Saturday evening.
Kate Abdo could not help but laugh at Micah Richards after exposing him

Richards looked a little embarrassed at being called out live on air
She was joined by the regular trio of Richards, Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher.
The rapport the four have on the CBS programme has been widely praised by viewers in the US and around the world.
And Abdo showcased that from the off on Saturday when she appeared to give Richards a glowing introduction, saying they were joined by a man responsible for “launching a football dynasty” and being an “icon in Manchester”.
But she then shut him down by saying “Peter Schmeichel will join us”, adding that “Micah is here too”.

An embarrassed Richards laughed off the quip but was dealt another blow just seconds later.
Abdo continued: “Speaking of big nights, you’ve got to look your best, right? Biggest day of the season, the line-up has got to be right. You’ve got to be crispy.
“Tell me this isn’t true because I heard a rumour that you flew your own personal barber to Istanbul to make sure that you got your line-up right.”
Former Man City right-back Richards then responded: “The rumour is correct. But it wasn’t just me. Rob Green got a line-up as well.”

Abdo replied: “Rob Green wasn’t flying him out though, was he?”
To which Richards added: “No, he wasn’t. But, you know, big game, big occasion, I had to fly him out, Kate, come on.”
Abdo then said: “You consider yourself an A-List celebrity?”
And Richards responded: “No, I’m not an A-Lister by any stretch of the imagination. But I’m Big Meeks, I’m unique.”
Carragher then chimed in, asking: “Are you a B or C (list celebrity)?”
And Richards took it all in good jest, replying: “I’m not even that.”
Back in February, Richards revealed he gets his hair cut THREE TIMES per week and pays £200 each time he visits.
The CBS broadcasters then worked out that adds up to £24,000 per year, something which stunned his colleague Henry. More

Chair Kristi Hummel initially phoned in to TalkSport during Noel’s recent interview to ask the High Flying Birds singer if he’d join them.
On Saturday, Kristi told The Sun: “We got to the bar at eight o’clock this morning to put up all the flags and do some decorating and reserve seats.”
Kristi said she’d been back and forth with his management and security for days ahead of the big game, and he was eager to keep his promise.
She was thrilled when he showed up to watch the game with hundreds of supporters spilling out into the street.

Noel arrived through the back door with his security and team just after 11.30am half an hour before kickoff, and was shown to his reserved seating area in the back of the bar.
Also sat nearby was a Liam Gallagher tribute, Welsh singer Kelvin Matthews, 41, of the band Oasiz.
He lived in Manchester for ten years, and has been in the US for two.
Kelvin said he was “buzzing” to be at the bar and has tickets to his Saturday night gig in San Diego – with Noel promising to perform in his underpants if City win.

“I’m a massive fan of Oasis, have been since the 90s,” Kelvin said.
He admitted he’s not a Man City fan, but won’t be telling Noel.
Asked what he’s going to say to the star, he said: “Get the band back together, give your brother a call.”
Talking about how Noel ended up being invited, Kristi went on to say: “We were all looking at our calendars and we realized that Noel Gallagher was going to be playing in town on the day of the final, and we had no idea whether he was going to be staying over in LA or if he was going to be traveling down early in the day.

“We wanted to reach out and invite him to join us if he wanted a place to watch.
“We didn’t really think that he’d take us up on it. We sent him tweet, we heard nothing, not surprisingly.
“The guy who runs showing soccer here at the bar, my downstairs neighbor is British. He’s a Tottenham fan, but we don’t hold it against him.
“He had heard that Noel Gallagher was going to be on the show and he sort of egged me on to call in with an invite.
“And so I stayed up until four o’clock in the morning and called in and they invited me to ask him live on air and the rest is kind of history.
“I was very nervous speaking to him on air. I am a big fan and I’ve seen him a couple of times, never with Oasis but with The High Flying Birds.”

Noel’s brother and rival Liam also tweeted he would phone his sibling if Man City won, giving fans hope of an Oasis reunion.
Kristi said: “Whether he takes the call, who knows. He’s also threatened to play in his underpants tonight, so who knows what can happen.”

When listing the lineups before the match, BT Sport inadvertently put (GK) after Gundogan’s name, rather than (C) for captain.
Some fans instantly took to social media to point out the mistake.
But others weren’t sure it was an error… rather Pep Guardiola making another bold call in a big match.
The Spaniard has become renowned for tinkering in finals and bigger occasions in recent years, notably deciding not to field a holding midfielder against Chelsea in the 2021 final.

Lining up in his usual midfield role, Gundogan did make some history in the match.
Wearing the captain’s armband, the 32-year-old became the first German to ever skipper a non-German team in a Champions League final.
Kevin De Bruyne wore the armband for City during the 2021 final, with regular captain Fernandinho on the bench.
Gundogan would ultimately lead his side to success with Man City winning 1-0 and with it sealing the Treble.
