And Abdo poked fun at his expense with a hilarious tease into his real whereabouts.
She declared: “It’s certainly a lot quieter in this studio today.
“[Micah’s absence] surely would have to be something important — maybe an A-list charity gala raising money for worthy causes.”
However, Richards was absent for a very different reason.

Abdo then rolled a tape of the ex-Man City star competing on TV show ‘A League of Their Own’ with Jamie Redknapp.
Richards could be seen wearing a kilt while sliding along his belly on a slip-and-slide.
Abdo’s pal Carragher remarked: “He chose that over Champions League football!”
    Henry asked: “Seriously?!”
Carragher added: “What a clown. He would do anything for money, that man.”
Henry noted: “That’s what he’s doing? Oh wow.”
It was the second straight night the CBS gang had been on the screen, with the Champions League returning on Tuesday.
But Abdo gave Richards a kinder reception than normal when introducing him.
She said: “The one and only Big Meeks, Micah Richards, also in the house.

An excellent evening, a fantastic few days, Arsenal will now be targeting the most wonderful of weeks.
After a hard-fought 1-0 success at Everton on Sunday, the Gunners crushed PSV Eindhoven 4-0 tonight on their return to the Champions League after six seasons away.
It’s the perfect platform from which to leap into the weekend’s North London derby against rivals Tottenham, and we’ll be back here on Sunday lunchtime to bring you all the action from the Emirates.
Until then, thanks for joining us and goodnight.

    Gunners performance ticks Arteta’s boxes
Arsenal’s attackers have received all the plaudits after a four-midable showing in the Champions League, but manager Mikel Arteta was quick to praise his defence too following tonight’s 4-0 win.
We enjoyed it. From the first minute, we went for it. Today we were really good in both boxes and, in the Champions League, when you are good in both boxes then you have a chance.Mikel ArtetaTNT Sports

    Arsenal begin with a bang
It may have been Arsenal’s first appearance in the Champions League for six years, but it’s a whole decade since the Gunners began their group stage campaign with a victory.
Back in 2013-14, the Londoners saw off Marseille 2-1 at the Stade Velodrome on matchday one thanks to goals from Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey.
Meanwhile, tonight was Arsenal’s biggest opening match victory in the Champions League since 2010-11 when they walloped Braga 6-0.

    Gunners fire to the top
A perfect evening for Arsenal has ended with them clear at the top of group after just one game.
In the night’s other Group B fixture, Sevilla were held to a 1-1 draw by Lens at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

    Match stats from the Emirates
Arsenal scored half of their eight attempts on target in a comprehensive performance on matchday one of the Champions League group stage.

Full time – Arsenal 4-0 PSV
It’s all over at the Emirates where Arsenal have cruised to victory on their Champions League return.
Goals from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard saw Mikel Arteta’s men swat aside PSV Eindhoven in the pouring rain.
What better way to warm up for Sunday’s North London derby.

    Arsenal 4-0 PSV
90+1. It comes to nothing despite Dest’s eagerness to recycle the ball with a hopelessly overhit pass.
On the bench, Peter Bosz looks thoroughly fed up. He’ll be put out of his misery any second soon.
    Arsenal 4-0 PSV
    90. The fourth official’s electronic board signals three minutes of stoppage time will be played.
And with that, PSV win a corner.
Arsenal 4-0 PSV – PSV substitution
    89. With seconds remaining, the PSV captain Luuk de Jong makes way.
Taking over for the final moments is 20-year-old American striker Ricardo Pepi.
Arsenal 4-0 PSV – Schouten yellow card
    87. Another booking for PSV with Jerdy Schouten now carded.
The midfielder is made to look silly by a sublime first touch from Kai Havertz, and his only response is to cynically pull the shirt of the German.
    Arsenal 4-0 PSV
    85. Five minutes remain, and the Emirates is beginning to empty out.
As commentator Paul Dempsey points out: “It’s not because of the quality of the football, it’s because nobody will want to queue for the tube in this rain.”
    Arsenal 4-0 PSV
    83. Miscontrol from Nelson in midfield presents De Jong with a chance to run at the Arsenal defence.
That is until Jorginho arrives to mop up with a calming authority.
    Arsenal 4-0 PSV
    81. A great break from Arsenal, one of the best of the night, ends with Boscagli making an excellent block to deny Smith Rowe a strike at goal.
Odegaard, Havertz and Nelson are all involved in smart one-touch passing as the hosts move from right to left and back again.
    Arsenal 4-0 PSV
    79. Sub on sub.
Makil Tillman barges into the back of Jorginho as the Italian plays a simple pass, and winds up with a yellow card from Felix Zwayer.
Arsenal 4-0 PSV – PSV double substitution
    77. It’s the end of the evening for Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap.
The defender departs to be replaced by Andre Remalho, while Yorbe Vertessen comes on for the ineffectual Noa Lang.
Arsenal 4-0 PSV – Arsenal substitution
    76. A final change for the Gunners sees Jorginho on for Declan Rice.
It’s been the perfect Champions League debut for the England midfielder, who will be wondering if he can add to last season’s Europa Conference title with another winners’ medal come May.
    Arsenal 4-0 PSV
    74. Havertz almost gets his goal.
Twisting and turning inside the box, the German attempts to steer a left-footer in at the near post, only for Teze to get a foot in to block.
    Arsenal 4-0 PSV
    72. While Arsenal are running riot at the Emirates, it’s worth acknowledging that Sevilla and Lens are currently locked together at 1-1 in Group B’s other match.
    Arsenal 4-0 PSV
    70. The captain delivers!
Arsenal’s attacking force has been nothing like it was in the first half, but Martin Odegaard has just spurred them back into life with the goal of the night.
Kai Havertz started the break forward, and while Emile Smith Rowe was guilty of overplaying a pass, he recovered well to tee up Reiss Nelson.
The substitute played responsibility on to Odegaard, who dropped his shoulder to move beyond Joey Veerman before driving left-footed into the bottom corner of Walter Benitez’s net from 25 yards.
    Brilliant!

    What a strike!

Arsenal 3-0 PSV – Arsenal double substitution
    68. It’s substitution season. Here are two more.
Gabriel Jesus’ ovation as he leaves the pitch is only bettered by the one that welcomes Emile Smith Rowe on as his replacement.
It’s also time for Bukayo Saka to make way, and it’s Fabio Vieira that comes on for the England star.
Arsenal 3-0 PSV – PSV double substitution
    66. Now the Dutch side make a double change of their own, and it includes their returning hero Hirving Lozano.
Re-signed from Napoli, the Mexican attacker is on for Johan Bakayoko.
Also on is Malik Tillman, who replaces Ismael Saibari.
    Arsenal 3-0 PSV
    64. Saliba looks in real trouble facing his own goal with Lang bearing down on him, but a delightful spin on the ball takes him away from his opponent and into a position where he’s able to start Arsenal’s latest attack.
    First class from the defender.

    Arsenal 3-0 PSV
    62. Arsenal’s best opportunity of the second period.
Nelson does very well to win the ball back high up the pitch, finds Havertz, who dinks a low cross to the near post.
Under pressure, Jesus gets hit right foot to the delivery, but is unable to find the angle to turn it past Benitez.

Toni Kroos gets bragging rights with Real Madrid versus little-known brother in Champions League clash with Union Berlin

JUDE BELLINGHAM helped Toni Kroos earn the family bragging rights with his late Champions League winner.Kroos and Real Madrid looked set for a disappointing stalemate against the Union Berlin in their opening group match until the England star’s 95th-minute strike sealed a 1-0 win.

The German midfielder, 33, was on the bench for Carlo Ancelotti’s side but was introduced just after the hour mark as they continued to be held at bay by the visitors.
But his introduction helped inspire the 14-time European champions to a dramatic victory – leaving his brother heartbroken.
As Kroos sat on the bench waiting to get on, there was a familiar face on the opposition one at the Bernabeu – his lesser-known younger sibling.
Felix Kroos, 32, was a footballer himself and played for Union Berlin between 2016 and 2020.

He is now retired after a stint playing for Eintracht Braunschweig and has since returned to Union to start his coaching journey and predominantly works with their U19s.
Felix has been his older brother’s biggest fan throughout his sibling’s legendary career.
And he was even snapped wearing a Madrid shirt while posing alongside Toni with the trophy following Madrid’s 2022 Champions League win.
But there were no doubts about where his loyalties where going into this clash as he told Union Berlin’s media channels: “I have said a lot of results, but here I’m going for 2-2.

“My family always comes first, but I have a problem because Union is my football family. ”
Felix, who retired aged 30 through injury, and Toni both started out at Greifswalder SC and FC Hansa Rostock as youngsters before the former went to Hansa and the latter signed for Bayern Munich.
Toni has since gone on to win the Champions League five times, firstly with Bayern in 2013, before adding another four to his collection since his arrival at Madrid in 2014.
And he played a key role for Germany as they tasted World Cup glory in the same summer he moved to the Bernabeu.
Bellingham’s late goal ensured it was a miserable day all-round for Felix.
Earlier in the afternoon his Union Berlin U19s were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid’s young guns in the Uefa Youth League. More

Fans spot Real Madrid ‘inventing new corner routine’ during Champions League clash and it’s left them baffled

FANS were left torn after watching Real Madrid “invent a new corner routine” against Union Berlin. The LaLiga giants were suffering a frustrating night in their opening game of the 2023/24 Champions League campaign before Jude Bellingham’s last-ditch winner.

The visitors from the Bundesliga, making their debut in the competition, produced a gritty first half display to hold the 14-time European champions.
However, it was not for the want of trying from Madrid as they went to some whacky lengths to try and find a breakthrough.
After winning a corner, Luka Modric walked over to take it, but he was soon joined by team-mate David Alaba.
The defender stood almost next to the Croatian in what seemed to be an attempt to block the opposition from being able to see what they were plotting from the set-piece.

Real Madrid even repeated the trick, albeit to no avail, before the break.
And the new tactic certainly got supporters talking online.
One tweeted: “Real Madrid inventing new corner techniques.”
Another wrote: “Real Madrid’s corner kicks are like a box of chocolates – you never know what kind of surprise they’ll unwrap next.”

Another viewer asked: “What on earth is this about?”
“This is strange,” noted another, while another added: “We didn’t understand this.”
And a fellow Madrid follower declared: “We are the pioneers of football.”
But not everyone was as enthusiastic, with one fan tweeting: “And still can’t score , so it’s pointless.”
While another said: “Warra rubbish technique…”
However, it was a quick corner that eventually prove to be the difference.
In the fifth minute of additional time, the Union Berlin defence fell asleep from a short one.
That allowed Federico Valverde time and space to shoot from the edge of the box.
His effort took several deflections before it fell perfectly for Jude Bellingham to bury from two yards out for his sixth goal in as many games for Madrid. More

Jude Bellingham’s incredible start at Real Madrid continues with last-gasp winner as fans say ‘this is witchcraft’

JUDE BELLINGHAM scored on his Real Madrid Champions League bow to continue his fairytale start in Spain. On his first appearance in the famous white shirt in Europe’s top club competition, the Brummie had the final say by notching home the winner against Union Berlin from ONE YARD OUT.

What had otherwise been a frustrating evening at the Bernabeu was all forgotten when the £115million midfielder scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
It is sixth goal from his opening six matches since arriving from Borussia Dortmund and further cemented his growing cult status among the fans.
The German outsiders, who were making their debut at this level, had proved to be obstinate opponents throughout the 90 minutes with Danish goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow producing several top-class saves.
Spanish striker Joselu – who has the dubious task this campaign of trying to replace the departed Karim Benzema – had about half a dozen chances to score.

One of those opportunities were pushed on to a post by Ronnow while his teammate Rodrygo also saw an attempt bounce off the woodwork.
In the end, it was left to Bellingham – the sixth Englishman to play for Madrid in either the European Cup or Champions League – to come to the rescue once again.
And the England fulcrum capitalised on a rare mix-up in the Berlin defence to celebrate one of the easiest goals of his young career.
Toni Kroos played a short corner and the short from Federico Valverde ricocheted off two Berlin players before falling kindly in the path of the former Birmingham City star.

With one stab of his right foot, he was able to break the Berlin resistance and celebrate in his signature fashion with his arm outstretched.
Fans could not believe Bellingham had come up trumps with the goods again for the Spanish giants.
Reacting to the goal, one fan wrote: “Mans living every young boys dream.”
A second commented: “He is inevitable!”
“His movement prior to that first shot is sensational. Makes it look so easy,” remarked a third.
A fourth said: “What a player man!”
While another added: “Bellingham is using witchcraft, he can’t always be on the right spot like that.”
Bellingham, named as man of the match, said: “I’m a confident lad but I really couldn’t have hoped for things to start as well as this in terms of goals.
“We’ve played five in La Liga, one in the Champions League and won all six so we can’t really complain about that.”
He added: “I’m not going to lie, I hope I keep on scoring goals in minute 94 or 95.
“Although it might do my heart, and the club, good to scorer earlier. Coming here has been much, much more than even I’ve ever dreamed of.
“Ever since I can remember watching TV I’ve been watching Madrid and now I’ve worn this shirt and scored for them.”
Bellingham is the fifth player to score on both his La Liga debut and Champions League debut for Real Madrid following Fernando Morientes (1997-98), Cristiano Ronaldo (2009-10), Isco (2013-14) and Marco Asensio (2016-17).

How Arsenal lined up last time they played PSV in Champions League with club legend on bench & cult icon in starting XI

ARSENAL make their long-awaited return to the Champions League tonight as the face off against PSV Eindhoven in group B. It’s been six years since the Gunners played amongst Europe’s elite and it’s been even longer since they played PSV in the competition.

Arsenal last faced PSV in the Champions League back in 2007 with the North London outfit drawing 1-1 in last-16 clash.
And the draw saw an end to their run in the competition that year as they had lost the away leg 1-0 and ultimately crashed out losing 2-1 on aggregate.
Back in the days of Arsene Wenger’s reign at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal lined up with star players littered throughout their 11 and had a club legend sat on the bench.
But despite the impressive starting line-up it wasn’t enough to secure them a place in the quarter finals.

Cesc Fabregas sat in the middle of the park for Arsenal that evening alongside Brazilian Denilson meaning Arsenal pinned their hopes on a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old to win the midfield battle.

Meanwhile club legend Thierry Henry started the game on the bench before coming on for Julio Baptista in the 66th minute.
But even with Henry playing alongside fellow invincible Freddie Ljungberg and a firing Emmanuel Adebayor, Arsenal failed to find the back of the net themselves with their only goal coming from an own goal by former Chelsea star Alex.
In fact it was the Brazilian defender who bagged PSV’s equaliser up the other end too, making good for turning it into his own net earlier in the game.

Wenger even tried to roll the dice by bringing on an 18-year-old Theo Walcott with just five minutes to play, but the Gunners ultimately fell short.
And perhaps they can point at their makeshift back line that evening as their reason for not progressing.
They lined up with midfielder Gilberto Silva starting at centre-back alongside William Gallas whilst Kolo Toure was forced out to right-back despite normally turning out as a centre half.

It was Gael Clichy who was the final piece of the puzzle for their back four as the Frenchman slotted in to his usual position at left-back.
Now in a new era under the watchful eye of Mikel Arteta, Arsenal will be hoping they can change their fortunes.
A new crop of players are dying to etch their name into Arsenal’s Champions League history with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice ready to step up.
