“I think he’s dominating in the right moment, dominating his opponents.
“And then he gets rewarded – it’s a very good skill for him, his heading – I have to say a great pass from Christian [Eriksen] as well and a very good finish.”

Footage showed the 20-year-old putting his head into his shirt when sitting on the bench.

However, Fofana swiftly issued an apology to Fischer, his team-mates and supporters on his Instagram page.

He said: “Following my behaviour during my exit from the field, I wanted to apologize to the club, the coach, my team-mates and the supporters.
“This gesture was not intended and in no way does it represent my attitude, all this was generated as a result of frustration because I wanted to continue helping the team to obtain a positive result.
“We will continue to work and come back even stronger in the championship and in this great competition.”
After the game, Fischer explained the sub was made to keep his attack fresh.

On the incident itself, he said: “There will be a talk. But I find it strange that this is the first question I get after such a great game from us.”
Fofana is yet to open his account for the German club, having now appeared in 11 matches.
He seemed to have registered an assist after a fantastic run from the right wing, before the goal was pulled back for offside earlier in the move.
The Blues announced the signing of the Ivory Coast international from Molde for £10.5million in December 2022, but he failed to score in four appearances.
Chelsea failed to qualify for any European competitions last year but appear to have finally found their feet this season under Mauricio Pochettino.

Andre Onana made a heroic last-minute penalty save but Ten Hag reserved praise for the way man of the match Eriksen impacted the game.
He applauded the Dane for his influence and suggested he played a big role in the 1-0 win.
Ten Hag said of the improved second-half performance and Eriksen’s impact: “He was part of it, definitely.
“I think our build-up got fluid, more fluid, once he came in. But we made some adjustments in other positions, in other constructions and cooperations.

“But Christian definitely played a big part in that. His timings were good to get free and on the ball his decision-making was good and the best example was the assist for Harry Maguire’s goal.”
Fans were also full of admiration for Eriksen’s effect on the match with one supporter describing him as a “cheat code”.

Another praised Eriksen saying: “Eriksen👏 I’ve been talking about how much I like his role of impacting games from the bench but with his form it is clear now that he has to start at least one game a week.
“Nobody in the squad has the influence in possession that he does.”

And another commented: “Eriksen has to start against City. He completely changed the game last night.”
Eriksen covered plenty of ground despite only playing for 45 minutes and was at the heart of everything United did well.
He achieved 90 per cent passing accuracy with 29 passes completed, including his cross for Maguire’s winner.
United icon Paul Scholes also complimented Eriksen’s performance and suggested United looked like a real team with the 31-year-old on the pitch.
He said: “You bring in Christian Eriksen, a much better footballer. I mean no disrespect to Amrabat, he does what he has to do. But he doesn’t build the game.

The Red Devils desperately needed to win after losing their first two group games, and took the lead via Harry Maguire’s 72nd minute header.
Disaster nearly struck, however, when the referee adjudged Scott McTominay to have committed a foul in the box deep into stoppage time.
But Andre Onana made himself the hero, being mobbed by his team-mates after saving Jordan Larsson’s 97th minute spot kick.
Onana’s stop preserved the Red Devils’ three points.

Some fans, however, believe that he strayed off his line and that Larsson should have been allowed to retake his kick.
Posting a grab of the penalty being taken from an angle behind the goal, one fan wrote: “Onana is 100 per cent off his line when the ball is struck.”

A second moaned: “Onana off his line before the penalty was taken. Who is responsible for monitoring the goalkeeper?”
While a third blasted: “The penalty should have retaken because onana legs are outside the line…”

Other fans, disagreed with this assessment.
One tweeted: “I haven’t seen many replays or angles of this but it looks like the tiniest part of his heel is just on the line.”
A second added: “Nope, his right foot still on the line when ball struck…”
Another social media user was furious with the decision to even give a penalty, writing: “Never a penalty in a million years f***ing rigged.”
To which a further tweeter replied: “If it was rigged I don’t think we would’ve got a penalty against us lad.”
As long as at least part of Onana’s foot was in contact with the goal line, his save was legal.
United’s win saw them move to within a point of Galatasaray at the halfway stage of their group campaign.
Next up in Europe they will travel to Copenhagen for a return fixture, before heading to Turkey to play Galatasaray.
They will conclude their group stage by hosting Bayern Munich on December 12.
After the game, Ten Hag said of his goalkeeper: “He showed personality.
“He knows that before, given the levels of what his skills are, he didn’t match his skills and he could do better.

“I think on Saturday it was a very good performance and today as well.
“Don’t forget that brilliant save just after half-time in the counter-attack. And also don’t forget, one of his skills is he’s a very good penalty saver.”
