Where Tottenham’s 2007/08 League Cup winning XI are now as Spurs chase first trophy under Antonio Conte

TOTTENHAM’S wait for a piece of silverware has now stretched to 13 YEARS.In 2008, Juande Ramos led Spurs to the League Cup thanks to a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Wembley.
This is the Tottenham starting XI that won the League Cup in 2008, 13 years ago

Didier Drogba put the Blues in front with a free-kick before Dimitar Berbatov’s penalty sent the game into extra-time.
Jonathan Woodgate grabbed the winner when Petr Cech punched the ball in from Jermaine Jenas’ free-kick into the defender’s head and it rebounded in.
Harry Redknapp, Andre Villas-Boas, Tim Sherwood, Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo all came and went without a trophy.
But what happened to the Tottenham team that beat Avram Grant’s side?
    GK: Paul Robinson
The former England goalkeeper won his only major trophy that day at Wembley, the year after the last of his 41 England caps.
He had seven seasons at Blackburn before a two-year, three-appearance spell at Burnley then retired in 2017 and is now doing media work.

    RB: Alan Hutton
The Scottish right-back joined Aston Villa in 2011 but had loans to Nottingham Forest, Mallorca and Bolton.
He played in the 2015 FA Cup final and scored a memorable goal against rivals Birmingham in 2018 before hanging up his boots a year ago to step into media, too.
    CB: Jonathan Woodgate
Match-winner Woodgate left Spurs in 2011 to join Stoke before returning to Middlesbrough a year later.
He ended his playing career in 2016 and, after a brief stint as a scout for Liverpool, went into coaching – he took over as Boro manager in 2019 and had a spell in charge of Bournemouth, too.
    CB: Ledley King
Ramos’ skipper that day had his career blighted by injuries and retired as a one-club man in 2012.
He joined Jose Mourinho’s backroom staff last summer and is trying to help the club end their long wait.

    LB: Pascal Chimbonda
The one-cap French full-back left Spurs that summer for Sunderland but returned to White Hart Lane in 2009 for a short stint.
He then had spells at eight clubs in ten years – including QPR and Doncaster as well as non-league Market Draydon Town and Ashton Town – before stopping in 2019.
    RM: Aaron Lennon
One of the two members of that team still actively playing professional football is Lennon.
He had ten seasons at the Lane before joining Everton in 2015, Burnley in 2017 and is back at Turf Moor aged 34 after a spell in Turkey.
    CM: Jermaine Jenas
Like Hutton, Jenas headed to Villa Park, albeit on loan, in 2011 before a temporary spell at hometown club Nottingham Forest.
He ended his injury-hit career with the 2013-14 season at QPR before stepping into punditry with BT Sport and Match of the Day – and may even be lined up to replace Gary Lineker as host one day.

    CM: Didier Zakora
Zakora spent one more season at Tottenham before joining Sevilla for two years.
After that Ivory Coast’s most-capped player had spells in Turkey, India and Indonesia and is now assistant boss at AFAD Djekanou in his homeland.
    LM: Steed Malbranque
Malbranque spent a decade in England, with his time at Tottenham sandwiched between Fulham and Sunderland.
Like Lennon, he is still active at FC Limonest Saint-Didier in France at the tender age of 41.

    ST: Robbie Keane
Keane enjoyed a glittering career which also included spells at Inter Milan, Leeds, Liverpool and Celtic before five years at LA Galaxy and finally with ATK in Kolkata.
A 146-cap Irish legend, he had spells as an assistant manager with Ireland and Middlesbrough, working under team-mate Woodgate.
    ST: Dimitar Berbatov
Arguably the best player of that Spurs XI was Berbatov, who went on to win two league titles, another League Cup and the Club World Cup with Manchester United.
The two-time Premier League golden-boot winner featured for Fulham, Monaco, PAOK and Kerela Blasters until his retirement in 2019 – the Bulgarian is now working towards to get his Uefa Pro coaching licence.
    Manager: Juande Ramos
Ramos was sacked just eight months later with a win ratio in the league of 29 per cent.
Harry Redknapp replaced him while he managed to land the Real Madrid job before stints at CSKA Moscow, Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Malaga.
He has been out of work since he resigned from Malaga in 2016.
Younes Kaboul, Teemu Tainio and Tom Huddlestone came off the bench for Spurs that day while Radek Cerny and Darren Bent were unused subs.

    LET’S SMASH THEM’
Sunderland manager Lee Johnson may be having a little chuckle to himself after drawing Arsenal away in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
The Black Cats beat Championship QPR in the previous round and after the match Johnson wound up Gunners supporters.
Asked who he wanted to face in the quarter-final, Johnson said: “I’d love to have Arsenal away or Tottenham away.”
Many Arsenal fans are looking forward to taking on the Black Cats and are confident about beating the League One side.
One Gunner wrote on Twitter: “You got your wish big man. Arsenal let’s smash them please.
Another added: “Lee Johnson wanted an easy draw like Arsenal. Now he’s got it. Pre-match team talk done. Thank you Lee.”
    NO CUP FUSS
Sunderland legend Michael Gray isn’t fussed about his side’s great run in the Carabao Cup.
The Black Cats have been drawn against Arsenal in the competition’s quarter-finals, but Gray is more worried about the club gaining promotion from League One, as he reckons they’ve been in the division for far too long.
He said: “We went through [to the quarter-finals], which is great, we went through on penalties, but I wasn’t really bothered.
I am not too fussed about that at the moment.
“We’ve been in League One too long, we need to get ourselves out of League One, we’re in a decent position at the moment and I know some sides are probably thinking it’s momentum, it’s confidence.”
    GUNNING FOR GLORY
Arsenal will host Sunderland in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
The Black Cats are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition – and the only club not in the Premier League of the last eight.
Arsenal overcame Leeds in a comfortable 2-0 win on Tuesday to progress to the quarter-finals.
And though Mikel Arteta will fancy his chances against Sunderland, manager Lee Johnson will not make it easy for the Gunners.

    GO FOR IT
Arsenal legend Paul Merson reckons David Moyes and West Ham will never have a better opportunity of lifting the Carabao Cup.
The Hammers have knocked out both Manchester City and United and Merson believes they have to capitalise on that.
Although some people don’t think the League Cup means much, Merson thinks it would look on West Ham’s CV as they haven’t won a trophy in decades.
Plus Moyes hasn’t lifted a trophy for a while either, and Merson reckons the cup will be huge for him also.
Merson said: “West Ham haven’t won a trophy since 1980!” he wrote. “You’ve got to have a go now.
“It’s almost a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some of these teams. No City in a competition they’ve dominated for so long – it was getting very predictable.
“People say it’s not an important competition. But come the final, everybody wants to be walking out at Wembley in it. What has David Moyes won? A Community Shield? This is a massive opportunity for him to finally put a big trophy on his CV.
“You’ve just knocked out both Manchester clubs, why wouldn’t you go for it now?”
    FINAL COUNTDOWN
We’re about 25/30 minutes away from the draw – how excited are you feeling?
For those that don’t know, it will take place on Soccer AM on Sky Sports, which is better than some recent draw locations such as the bowls club they used last time.
    IN IT TO WIN IT
Brentford boss Thomas Frank reckons his side can go all the way in the Carabao Cup.
They made the quarter-finals after seeing off Stoke in the last round and thinks Brentford call pull off a major coup despite all the bigger Prem clubs still in the competition.
An optimistic Frank said: “I just know one thing. We would like to do as well as possible in the League Cup.
“We’re now in the quarter-finals, why not try to win it? There are some massive clubs there but we’ll do our very best.”
    FOURTH ROUND RESULTS
Cup holders Manchester City’s were dumped out of the competition by West Ham who defeated Pep Guardiola’s side on penalties at the London Stadium, ending their four-year reign.
Chelsea also skipped into the quarter-finals on penalties against Southampton.
Arsenal, who are now unbeaten in eight games, swept Leeds aside to secure their place in the last-eight.
Sunderland joined the pen-fest by edging QPR in a tense spot-kick shoot-out.
Prem giants Liverpool and Tottenham saw off Preston and Burnley respectively.
While Brentford made also made it through by seeing off a resilient Stoke side. while.
Last but not least, Leicester made sure they also left it to the last minute to qualify for the quarter-finals and beat Brighton on penalties following an enthralling 90 minutes.
    BALL NUMBERS

    Brentford – 2

    West Ham

TIME FOR A CUP OF TEA
Hello, good morning and welcome to SunSport’s live blog coverage of the Carabao Cup draw.
In-keeping with the competition’s habit of hosting the draw from weird and wonderful places around the world, today’s takes place on Soccer AM.
John Fendley and Jimmy Bullard are expected to draw the balls for this year’s last eight which take place in December.
Premier League big boys Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham are expecting to learn their fates today.
West Ham, Leicester, Brentford and former Prem mainstays Sunderland are also in the pot.
The Black Cats will be hoping to draw one of the big boys after playing recent seasons in League One.
As for Tottenham and Arsenal, it is the chance to win a trophy that has evaded them in recent seasons.
Either way, with penalty shootouts and possibly some fringe players in the mix it promises to be a thrilling round of football.
And who better to get the party started than Sky Sports funny men Fendley and Bullard?

Carabao Cup quarter-final draw simulated with Chelsea landing Tottenham and Arsenal facing Sunderland after Johnson jibe

THE DRAW for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals will take place on Saturday – and SunSport’s simulated one in preparation threw up some bumper ties.Arsenal, Chelsea and Sunderland all booked their spot in the last eight on Tuesday.
A new name will be on the Carabao Cup after Pep Guardiola’s Man City were knocked outCredit: Reuters
The Gunners romped past Leeds while the Blues and Black Cats both needed penalties to advance past Southampton and QPR respectively.
A day later they were joined by Brentford, Tottenham, West Ham, Liverpool and Leicester City.
It was the Hammers who ensured that a new name will be on the trophy for the first time since 2017 after they dumped holders Manchester City out.
That left all eight dreaming of cup glory, but each club still has plenty of work to do before they can even think of Wembley.
And they will all have to wait until Soccer AM airs on Sky Sports for the 10.30am Carabao Cup draw to discover who they will play in the week commencing December 20.
There will be no seeding – meaning anyone can draw anyone – and that means that the prospect of some blockbuster clashes is very real.

In anticipation of it, SunSport used a knockout stage simulator to take a look at what the potential ties could be.
    And the results were brilliant:
    ARSENAL VS SUNDERLAND
The first one out of our pretend hat was Arsenal landing a home tie against League One Sunderland.
And you can bet the Gunners would not only fancy their chances of advancing but of silencing Black Cats boss Lee Johnson aswell.
Johnson poked fun at Arsenal and Tottenham in midweek by claiming the North London pair were not the ‘big guns’ left in the competition.
Speaking to Sunderland club reporters on who he wanted in the next round, Johnson joked: “I’d love to have Arsenal away or Tottenham away if not that. And then we’ll wait for the really big guns when it’s two legs.”
Arsenal fans quickly picked up on the comment and would be desperate to see Mikel Arteta’s men dish out a thrashing and advance to the semi.
    BRENTFORD vs WEST HAM
A London Derby that both clubs would fancy their chances of winning.
The Bees are looking to go one step further than last season’s semi-finals while David Moyes would love to follow-up on European qualification by delivering a trophy for the Hammers.
Throw in Said Benrahma returning to Brentford as well, the potential clash would certainly be a belting cup tie.
    CHELSEA vs TOTTENHAM
Another all-London showdown that would have the nation wanting to tune in.
Chelsea vs Tottenham is always a must-see and this would be no different with the added spice of a place in the last four at stake.
Spurs were beaten in last season’s final by City but if they could knock the Blues off at Stamford Bridge then they would fancy their chances of going all the way.
    LIVERPOOL vs LEICESTER
Jurgen Klopp has been giving his fringe men a chance in the competition this year and would likely do so again after they downed Preston this week.
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has been doing the same with his team also battling in Europe as well as in the Premier League.
After guiding Leicester to the FA Cup last term, he would love nothing more than to bring more silverware to the King Power this season.
Throw in the added incentive of potentially knocking out his old club, then this showdown would also have all the makings of being a cup classic. More

Arsenal fans go wild as Ben White ‘destroys’ Kalvin Phillips with silky nutmeg in Carabao Cup win over Leeds

ARSENAL fans were left in awe of defender Ben White after he embarrassed Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips during their Carabao Cup clash on Tuesday night. The Gunners ran out 2-0 victors at the Emirates Stadium thanks to goals from Calum Chambers and Eddie Nketiah.
White was superb for Arsenal on Tuesday and capped off the performance with a lovely nutmegCredit: Getty
    [embedded content]
But it was a superb piece of individual class from White which caught the eye of Arsenal supporters during the routine victory.
Stepping out of his defensive line to mop up the danger, the ex-Brighton centre-back deftly moved the ball from left to right before nutmegging the onrushing Phillips.
Reacting to the silky skill, one social media user said: “White is such a baller.”
Another commented: “That was so disgusting but he treated like it was so subtle.”
And a third person reflected on his entire performance, saying: “He did some outrageous things last night.”
White, 24, left Brighton to sign for Arsenal in the summer for a huge £50million fee.

And, after a shaky start to his Gunners career, the England international has begun to flourish under Mikel Arteta.
White was substituted in the 55th minute of the win over Leeds, but Arteta insists it was merely due to illness and that he should be fit to face Leicester on Saturday.
He said: “There is a bug going on. We lost Pablo [Mari] today as well as he wasn’t feeling great.

Arsenal are now unbeaten in eight games in all competitions, a run which comes off the back of their worst ever start to a domestic campaign.
The Gunners were beaten in all three of their opening Premier League games but have since gone on to climb into the top half of the table. More

Burnley 0 Tottenham 1 LIVE REACTION: Spurs seal EFL Cup quarter-final berth thanks to Lucas Moura goal – latest updates

TOTTENHAM reached the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup thanks to a 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor. Lucas Moura scored the only goal of what was a tight affair in Lancashire.

    RESULT: Burnley 0-1 Tottenham
Burnley XI: Pope, Roberts, Collins, Mee, Pieters, Gudmundsson, Brownhill, Cork, McNiel. Rodriguez, Vydra
Tottenham XI: Gollini, Royal, Sanchez, Romero, Davies, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Lo Celso, Bergwijn, Bryan, Kane, Skipp

Follow ALL the action with our live blog below…
    GOODBYE
That’s all from us at Turf Moor, where Spurs have fought their way through to the last eight of the Carabao Cup.
Lucas Moura was the matchwinner, coming off the bench for the injured Bryan Gil to head the Londoners into the quarter-finals.
It wasn’t pretty, but it may just prove to be the moment that kickstarts Tottenham’s season – and Nuno Espirito Santo’s time in charge.
For Sean Dyche and co, it’s time to concentrate on the Premier League. Burnley are currently winless, in the bottom three and have a huge game at home to Brentford on Saturday.
We’ll be here to cover all the weekend action so please join us for more live coverage. Until then, thank you and goodnight.
    NUNO DELIGHT
Nuno Espirito Santo was as pleased as he was relieved to see his side win through an ugly cup tie at Turf Moor. The Spurs coach felt his side were worthy victors despite their issues continuing in the final third.
It was a good performance, we were in control of the game – more so in the second half. Not the finishing, but we were better in mobility and sticking together at the end of the game.Nuno Espirito Santo
    TURF SORE
No wins in the Premier League this season and now out of the League Cup, it’s fair to say Burnley fans are feeling hurt and frustrated right now.
Despite some decent cameos from the likes of McNeil, Gudmundsson and Cornet, the Clarets offered very little as a creative, attacking force.
Speaking afterwards, manager Sean Dyche shared the fans’ disappointment but maintained that he feels his players are on the right track.
The attitude and belief were right, but we need to find those moments going forward. There’s a group in there giving everything and that has to continue.Sean Dyche
    TONIGHT’S RESULTS
Tottenham are into the last eight of the League Cup, and join last night’s victors: Arsenal, Chelsea and Sunderland. Who else will be in the hat for Saturday’s draw?

    Burnley 0-1 Spurs
Leicester 2-2 Brighton (Leicester win 4-2 on pens)
    Preston 0-2 Liverpool
    Stoke 1-2 Brentford
West Ham 0-0 Man City (West Ham win 5-3 on pens)

    FT: BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
The Beautiful Game? Not always. The record books will show a Tottenham win that takes them into the Carabao Cup quarter-final but it was a contest unlikely to live long in the memory. The tie was settled by substitute Lucas Moura’s second half header, and the best Burnley could muster was a weak Ashley Barnes’ effort; their only shot on target.
    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!SPURS PREVAIL AT TURF MOOR!
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
90+4. Son is cautioned for time-wasting but he won’t care.
He’s about to become a Carabao Cup quarter-finalist. It’s what schoolboy dreams are made of.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
90+2. With the hosts committing men forward, Kane finds himself all alone as Spurs quickly send the ball downfield.
All alone apart from Pope that is. The goalkeeper rushes 30 yards out his goal to beat the Tottenham striker to the ball and clear.

    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    90. Ashley Barnes clumsily trips Hojbjerg to concede a free-kick in.
The Burnley forward is furious, but you feel it’s as much frustration with himself because it may have killed his side’s momentum.
The home side have four minutes of added on time to find the goal that would take this tie to penalties.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    88. Burnley are building some pressure.
They win a corner on the right that Cornet sends into a packed penalty box. Somehow it travels through everyone to end up at the feet of Pieters 20 yards out. The left-back goes for glory and sends a shot soaring into space.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    86. Close! The home side have finally clicked into life.
Barnes steers play out to Cornet on the left, and he bursts into the box. Looking for the run of Wood, the Ivorian sends in a great cross that Sanchez does brilliantly to divert away from danger.

    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    85. A half-chance for Barnes, who does well to chest a tricky ball down, but follows up with a weak shot straight at Gollini.
It’s the Clarets’ first shot on target tonight.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    83. Connor Roberts with another huge throw.
I get the feeling that it won’t be the last time I used those words before this one ends.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    80. Inside the final ten minutes. Can the home side find an equaliser? The travelling fans think not as an old favourite is given an airing on the terraces.
Spurs are on their way to Wembley…
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    79. Brownhill sends the ball whizzing into the box, Wood and Mee go after it, but Spurs hold their line well and clear the danger.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    78. Burnley win a free-kick after Hojbjerg sticks out an arm to block a Pieters cross.
Approximately 40 yards from goal and out on the left, it is the perfect position for Burnley to pack the penalty area and cause chaos from the set-piece.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    75. A double Burnley change. McNeil and Gudmundsson have arguably been the home side’s best performers tonight, but they’re not going to be einvolved. in the final 15 minutes.
However, here are two reasons to get excited: former Spurs hero Aaron Lennon is on, and so too is the electric Maxwel Cornet.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    73. Emerson is starting to cause havoc on the right flank.
The Brazilian makes short work of Pieters and then tries to beat Pope at his near post, but the goalkeeper is wise to the task.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    71. Lucas Moura goes close to doubling his and Tottenham’s tally!
The Spurs goalscorer lines up a fierce drive from 25 yards that’s beaten confidently out by Pope.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    70. In their endeavours to get back in the game, Connor Roberts has picked up the game’s first yellow card.
The Burnley debutant is cautioned for kicking at the calves of Harry Kane.
    BURNLEY 0-1 SPURS
    68. Tottenham have a shot! And the game has a goal!
Both events looked unlikely early on, but the introduction of Lucas Moura has certainly injected some impetus into the visitors’ play, and it’s no surprise that he’s the man to break the deadlock.
A slick break forward finds Emerson on the right, and the full-back delivers a delicious cross for the Brazilian head down and past Nick Pope.
    The Londoners lead in Lancashire!

    GOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!LUCAS MOURA BREAKS THE DEADLOCK!!
    BURNLEY 0-0 SPURS
    66. Nuno does make a sub. Two in fact.
On are Tanguy Ndombele and Son Heung-min, off goes Oliver Skipp and Steen Bergwijn.
    BURNLEY 0-0 SPURS
    65. Big save from Nick Pope!
Kane takes advantage of Wood’s slip up on halfway, and sends Lo Celso clear with a delightful through ball.
The Argentine is in and powers a shot towards the top corner, only for it to be met by a strong hand away from Burnley’s goalkeeper.
It is the game’s first shot on target.
    BURNLEY 0-0 SPURS
    63. There’s a bit of afters between Collins and Bergwijn with the Burnley defender accusing his opponent of making a meal of an aerial clash.
The excitement soon settles down though, and the tedium sets in again.

    FT: PRESTON 0-2 LIVERPOOL
And that is that. Liverpool are into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
Preston gave it a real go in the first half and really did miss their chance tonight.
Liverpool came good in the end with goals from Minamino and Origi to seal their place in Saturday’s draw.
    Another win for Klopp’s men.
    PRESTON 0-2 LIVERPOOL
90, Three minutes of added time.
    PRESTON 0-2 LIVERPOOL
83, What a finish from Origi to double Liverpool’s lead.
Tsimikas mishit his cross and it cannoned off the crossbar.
Williams was quickest to react and he squared it towards Origi, and the Belgian striker backheel flicked it out of the air over his head into the net.
A brilliant piece of improvisation from Origi has sealed this cup tie.
    GOALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!
Divock Origi! Liverpool have a second. They’re home and dry now.
    PRESTON 0-1 LIVERPOOL
79, Curtis Jones makes some room for the shot, but it’s straight at the goalkeeper Rudd.
Decent opening that for the Liverpool midfielder but still the lead is only a single goal.
    PRESTON 0-1 LIVERPOOL
75, Liverpool looking comfortable at the moment but it’ll get nervy soon unless they can grab a second goal.
Preston struggling to create many chances right now.

    PRESTON 0-1 LIVERPOOL
69, The crowd have their tail up for this, they’ve seen their side trouble Liverpool plenty so far tonight.
Minamino’s goal was Liverpool’s first shot on target tonight, by the way.
    PRESTON 0-1 LIVERPOOL
63, On comes top scorer Riis for Preston in place of Barkhuizen.

    PRESTON 0-1 LIVERPOOL
61, Finally a moment of quality from Liverpool in the final third and they have their goal.
Neco Williams found himself the furthest man forward from Adrian’s long ball.
And the young right back did very well to hold it up and get to the byline before crossing in for Minamino.
The Reds forward got across his marker in the six yard back and prodded the cross into the far corner.
    Lovely finish. Liverpool lead.
    GOALLLLLLLLLL!!!!
It’s Minamino!!! Liverpool break through on the hour.
    PRESTON 0-0 LIVERPOOL
54, Oxlade-Chamberlain works an opening and gets in the shot from distance… and it’s not too far wide.
That just bent away from goal at the last minute from Ox, good effort.
Second change for Liverpool as well as Conor Bradley on for Harvey Blair.
    PRESTON 0-0 LIVERPOOL
51, Preston have started this second half a little further forward and almost on the front foot themselves.
They’re growing into this game and it’s Liverpool who are almost playing on the break now.
    Intriguing stuff.
    PRESTON 0-0 LIVERPOOL
47, Immediately a chance for Minamino… and he can’t bring it under his control.
Oxlade-Chamberlain played in a brilliant diagonal through ball towards him and he was clean through on goal.
But he tried to control instead of volleying first time and missed the ball.

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPP!
    Second half underway at Deepdale.
    CHANGES
A change for Liverpool at the break. Nat Phillips replaces Joel Matip in the centre of defence.
Pre-planned from Klopp or a problem for Matip?
Anyway, we’re ready to go again.
    MATCH STATS
Here are some half-time stats from Sky Sports.
As you can see, all the ball for Liverpool but all the chances for Preston.

    ELSEWHERE
No goals so far also at Turf Moor or the London Stadium.
But Leicester have a lead over Brighton and Brentford are two up at Stoke.
    Here’s the HT scores:

    Burnley 0-0 Spurs
    Leicester 2-1 Brighton
    Preston 0-0 Liverpool
    Stoke 0-2 Brentford
    West Ham 0-0 Man City

    HT: PRESTON 0-0 LIVERPOOL
And that’s the half-time whistle – it’s all square at the break.
Preston really should be in front, they’ve had some brilliant chances in the opening period.
Liverpool have dominated possession but not created anything of note. I think Klopp will be having a polite word or two with his players.
    PRESTON 0-0 LIVERPOOL
43, Liverpool have had around 80 per cent possession in the first half but they’ve not gone anywhere with it as of yet.
Preston have created 3 or 4 glorious chances to their none.
    PRESTON 0-0 LIVERPOOL
38, Tsimikas and Jones trying their hardest to make something happen but it’s really not clicking for Liverpool at the moment.
Liverpool loanee Sepp van den Berg is looking pretty solid in defence against his parent club.
    .Credit: AP
    PRESTON 0-0 LIVERPOOL
34, Rafferty is almost in behind this time and does well to get a corner out of it.
Really good this from Preston. Klopp might be thinking about using some of his bench stars in the second half if this carries on.
    PRESTON 0-0 LIVERPOOL
28, Wow, how on earth has that not gone in for Preston, incredible.
First it was a point-blank save from Adrian to deny Maguire.
It then fell to Ledson on the rebound but his effort was blocked on the line by Williams.
And the rebound was skied over the bar from Potts from six yards.
What a chance. Liverpool incredibly lucky to escape.
