“I’m so grateful that I did because on the July 10th I got diagnosed with an early-stage aggressive breast cancer.

Football club secretly change badge to include optical illusion for brilliant reason – can you spot it?

AN ARGENTINE football club secretly changed their badge for a brilliant reason. But only the most eagle-eyed fans spotted the minor tweak.

Racing Club launched a superb campaign to raise awareness about testicular cancer.
In recent weeks, the Buenos Aires team have made subtle adjustments to their emblem – a light blue shield with three white vertical stripes with the word ‘RACING’ in white.
They have added a small lump to the bottom of the right stripe, gradually making it bigger over the past month.
Many supporters did not even notice the change – just as many men will not realise when testicular cancer starts to develop.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
The football club – who face Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals – released an emotional video on Wednesday to confirm the bulge was not an error or an optical illusion but instead a deliberate act.
The clip, posted on Twitter, was captioned “What happened to our shield?” and racked up more than one million views within 16 hours of going live.
The video says: “Testicular cancer can develop in four weeks. That’s why we made a campaign that lasted four weeks.
“There is nothing more sacred than our shield… And nothing more important than taking care of ourselves.”
    Most read in Football
Argentine manager Juan Ramon Fleita adds: “What happened to our shield can happen to your body.
“Therefore, together with FUCA [Argentine cancer research charity] we have been altering the Racing badge for four weeks to raise awareness of what is happening with many tumours.
“Although for weeks no one noticed, in the last few days some saw it.
“They worried and they told us to do something and it’s not okay to let it go.
“Early detection of testicular cancer saves lives.”
The video also encourages fans to check out the testicular cancer charity website and take a check.
    What is testicular cancer?
TESTICULAR cancer is the most common form of cancer in young men.
Testicular cancer is normally characterised by a lump or swelling on one of your testicles, the male sex organs which produce sperm and testosterone.
Bucking the trend, testicle tumours are more likely to strike blokes aged 15-49 than those over 50.
In the UK, around 2,300 men are diagnosed each year.
This equates to just one per cent of all male cancer, although cases of testicular cancer have DOUBLED since the mid-70s.
The most common sign is a lump or swelling on one of your testicles, which is normally about the size of a pea.
Not all testicular lumps are cancerous, while only four per cent of scrotal lumps are, but you should still always get your GP to take a look.

The disease generally affects men aged between 15 and 49 and is one of the rarer forms of cancer with around 2,300 males diagnosed each year in the UK.
Men can go to the Cancer Research UK or NHS websites for more information and support.
Fans flooded to social media to praise Racing Club for the incredible gesture.
One said: “That is really great! I am glad to see the club is using their platform to raise awareness for such an important cause and hope more clubs follow their example!”
Another wrote: “That’s a really smart way to spread awareness for this horrible disease.”
A third added: “This is a very clever idea… Catch stuff before they become too noticeable and you’ll have better chances of a positive and quick recovery! Guys, be careful!”

And a final user wisely commented: “Some balls are more important than football.”

AMIR KHAN’s wife Faryal Makhdoom launched into a furious rant at a new love rival linked to her love-rat husband, saying she hoped she would “die of cancer”.The reality star also said she would slit her throat during a screaming telephone conversation with the unnamed woman, who former world boxing champion Amir met in Dubai.

In an audio recording heard by The Sun, Faryal, 32, vents: “If you ever contact Amir again, I will slit your f****** throat.
“You should be scared of me, b*tch, you should be scared of me.”
She added: “I hope one day you die with cancer, b*tch, okay?
“Now go hang up. F*** off now. Dumb b*tch.”

Influencer Faryal, who shares three children with the former Team GB star, also boasted about how she is “the biggest Asian” and claimed people are keen to imitate her.
Faryal ranted: “I’m the biggest Asian, alright, and girls like you look up to me.”
“And you sleep with married men — b*tch.
“Have you seen the state of you? You think you look like me? B*tch, you wish you looked like me.”

While the remarks were not intended as a genuine threat, it’s not the first time Faryal has ranted at another woman targeted by Amir’s flirting.
Last week, former BBC presenter Suzi Mann revealed that Faryal had sent her “vile and abusive” messages after receiving inappropriate texts from Amir, 36, after a music concert in 2016.
Ms Mann said: “It was apparent she had gotten hold of his phone and seen all the messages he had been sending me.
“She then proceeded to message me pretending to be him — which was immediately obvious because she appeared to have, at the time, a few more brain cells than him.”
Faryal’s latest rant, which has been circulated on TikTok, comes as Amir desperately tries to patch up their troubled ten-year marriage.
Last month, it was revealed the couple were living apart, basing themselves between their homes in Dubai and the UK, after Amir was caught sexting bridal model and influencer Sumaira, 25.
He bought his wife a £130,000 Mercedes in a bid to win her over, plus posted clips of a family cinema trip, with a camera crew, in an attempt to prove a reconciliation had taken place.
The Sun revealed last week that the pair were trying to work out their marital problems.

David Brooks reveals he has not spoken to Bournemouth boss about cancer battle and doesn’t want to be picked on sympathy

DAVID BROOKS made an emotional Premier League return following his battle with cancer last season – but now the Bournemouth man feels ready to kick on for real. The Wales international, 26, was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin lymphoma in October 2021 and returned to action in March this year after more than 500 days out.

Having been used sparingly by the Cherries towards the end of the last campaign, Brooks has impressed under new boss Andoi Iraola in pre-season, but revealed the two have not even discussed his cancer battle – which is just how he wants it.
Brooks told SunSport: “We haven’t spoken about it.
“As bad as it sounds, I’m sure he’ll have a bit of sympathy for the cancer side of it, but he has come in to do a job. I am here to do a job so it is not anything to be discussed.
“He wants the best XI out there on the first day of the season and I want to be in that XI.

“It is not really anything to talk about or be discussed.
“Would I want a sympathy pick? No, not at all.
“I’d feel worse him putting me on and I don’t think I’m ready and me playing awful if I thought I wasn’t ready.
“I’ve been working hard to get into that XI and if I get in there I want it to be on merit.”

Brooks has scored twice in three pre-season games so far this summer, grabbing one superb goal during the Cherries’ trip to Marbella and a late winner against Southampton on Tuesday.
Having cleared the hurdle of a return for Bournemouth and Wales last season, Brooks is now focused on getting back to his game-changing best when West Ham visit on the opening day of the season.
But the former Sheffield United man knows there is still a long way to go.
He added: “Towards the end of last season I was just trying to get back and be involved in whatever kind of minutes I could but this season is different.
“I was just desperate to get back in a Bournemouth shirt and a Wales shirt.
“Now that is ticked off I am trying to get myself back in that starting XI and showing everyone what I can do.
“I wouldn’t say back to normal. I haven’t played over 60 minutes in near enough three years, it is not like I’m thinking I’ll be playing 90 minutes against West Ham.”
New boss Iraola is working to implement a new high-octane style of football on the south coast, and while his training has been demanding it is something Brooks is relishing.
    He said: “It is different.
“Every gaffer I’ve had has been English based. It is a different regime and style of getting fit but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.

But just five months later, following several rounds of gruelling treatment, she entered complete remission.
In an episode of the Discovery+ documentary, ‘World at Their Feet’, Stott opened up about her diagnosis and her incredible journey back into football.
“Obviously, I came to Brighton all excited and ready to go,” she said.
“I had a little bit of a lump on my neck. It kept growing and getting bigger and bigger. I had surgery, I had a needle biopsy.

“Finally, after about three or four months, we got the diagnosis that I had Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
“‘Why did this happen to me?’, has definitely gone through my head a lot, but I know that I will never know the answer to that.
“‘Yes, this sucks, but I have a good prognosis. In a c**p situation, I am lucky’.
“It was all quite rushed. I was straight in for my first day of chemo. The first cycle was bad. I was throwing up everywhere.

“And then bone aches, headaches, dizziness, mouth ulcers, they were probably one of the worst because you were trying to eat, and it would just be impossible.”
Despite the difficult circumstances she endured, Stott remained upbeat as she kept fans updated through social media and her blog, ‘Beat It by Stotty’.
The defender also remained determined to return to football and used that, along with family and friends, to inspire her through months of treatment.
She added: “My family was great. My friends were really there for me. I had a lot of people looking after me.
“The thought of getting back to football when I finished my cancer treatment was always there and that was always my goal, to get back on the field, so that was a huge motivation for me.”
In July 2021, just a matter of months after being diagnosed, the New Zealand star announced that she was in complete remission.
In a blog post, she wrote: “This is the blog I’ve been hanging out to write, I’m officially in COMPLETE REMISSION. It’s surreal and I’m still not quite sure how to describe the feeling, but I’m filled with so much happiness and I’m so appreciative to everyone who has helped me along the way.”
Within just a few months of entering remission, Stott re-joined Melbourne City before signing a two-year deal with Brighton in 2022.
And her World Cup dream came true last month when she was named in Jitka Klimkova’s 23-woman New Zealand squad.
Stott made history with New Zealand on the opening day of the tournament this week, helping the country to it’s first-ever World Cup win.
The Football Ferns earned a shock 1-0 win over Norway, who are ranked 12th in the world by FIFA.

Chelsea star Ann-Katrin Berger beat cancer twice – now she’s heading to the World Cup and could face her Lioness partner

But only one will be able to say that they’ve done all of the above after beating cancer… twice.
Chelsea goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger has enjoyed some of the highest of highs throughout her playing career, but she has also had to endure some terrible lows.
In November 2017, just over one year into her spell with Birmingham City, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
Despite her devastating diagnosis, Berger was determined to continue playing football.
    Read More on Women’s Football
She even earned a spot in the PFA Team of the Year at the end of the 2017-18 campaign, just two months after recovering.
And the following year, she made a huge move to Women’s Super League giants Chelsea.
Career-wise, the 32-year-old is at the top of her game, having won four WSL titles, three FA Cups and two Continental Cups with the Blues.
Berger’s incredible form saw her earn a place in Germany’s Euro 2022 squad last summer, but her immense joy – after being called up for her first major tournament – was marred when she found out that her cancer had returned following four years in remission.

The goalkeeper told Sky Sports in November: “It had actually started at the beginning of July.
“We came [together] with the German national team [for the Euros] on July 3 and my yearly appointment was on July 5.
“It was a little bit of a weird feeling because it was the last one of the normal appointments, but then the blood samples came back negative in thyroid cancer language.
“Whilst the Euros were still ongoing, I had to do some other tests and the next step after the blood test. Most of the time, it was ultrasounds so they’re checking any lymph nodes or unusual things and that was one week after.
“After that, I started to wonder what was going on because sometimes, the bloods can go up and down, that’s a normal thing, especially with athletes when hormones and everything are different.
“But then after the ultrasound, they called me again and I had to go in and they took a biopsy as well. Then I was like ‘Ok, something bad is going on’, but I still wanted to carry on with football.
“At that point, we’d finished the group stages and I wanted to keep it to myself. Obviously close ones, my family and everything, they started to know something was wrong but at that time, my team didn’t know because they had to focus on the Euros.
“I know how to deal with it because I’ve been there before so that’s why I started to keep it to myself. The doctors gave me the all-clear to train as normal and said there wouldn’t be any problems.”
Berger waited until the latter stages of Euro 2022 to inform her international teammates of her diagnosis, simply because she wanted to enjoy the tournament as much as possible.
She added: “It was a difficult moment, but I kept it a little bit more quiet. I wanted to enjoy the Euros for myself because that kept me going – it actually was just nice to do something and not feel sorry for yourself.”
In August, Berger announced to the world that her cancer had returned.
In a statement on social media, she wrote: “I wanted to update fans directly that unfortunately, after four years of living cancer-free, there has been a recurrence detected in my thyroid.”
Despite the devastating setback, she remarkably returned to action just over a month later, featuring in Chelsea’s WSL clash against Manchester City.
And in March she was hailed as a hero after saving two penalties which subsequently sent the Blues through to the Champions League semi-final.
Four months on from that electric evening at Stamford Bridge, Berger is now in Australia and New Zealand for her first World Cup.
The goalkeeper has already lifted the WSL trophy and the FA Cup this year, but now she has her sights firmly set on arguably the biggest accolade in football.

However, in order to win the World Cup, Berger and her Germany teammates will have to get past European champions England.
And that means the goalkeeper will have to better her girlfriend, and Chelsea teammate, Jess Carter.
The couple started dating in 2017 and they now live together in London.
But while they represent two different nations, there is little-to-no rivalry between them.

In an interview with The Guardian last year, Carter said: “There wasn’t really any direct competition [during the Euros] because we are both really chilled people.”
