Rummenigge, 66, spent ten years playing for Bayern before taking a management role in 1991.
After being made CEO in 2002, he oversaw a golden period at the club which included 14 Bundesliga title wins and two Champions Leagues.
Before passing his role to Oliver Kahn last year, Rummenigge also signed off on numerous top talents including Polish striker Lewandowski.
The hitman, who joined Barcelona this summer, scored 344 goals in 375 games for Bayern after a move from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.

He also won countless trophies, including the 2020 Treble.
But despite Lewandowski being the second-top scorer in Bundesliga history, while also holding several records for goals, Rumminegge does NOT count him in Bayern’s top three signings.
According to Sky, he believes “Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Manuel Neuer” have all proven to be more important transfers than Lewandowski – and “in this order” too.
Ribery spent 12 years at Bayern after joining from Marseille in 2007, scoring 124 goals in 425 games while winning nine titles and a Champions League.

As for Robben, he netted 144 times in 309 matches during a ten-year stay, winning eight titles plus a Champions League.
Finally, Neuer is in his 12th season at Bayern and still going strong.
He’s played 481 times for the club and has won ten titles plus two Champions Leagues.
But Lewandowski will get the chance to prove Rummenigge wrong when new side Barcelona face Bayern in the Champions League on Tuesday.
He angered the Germans by forcing through a move to Spain over the summer in his bid to win a first Ballon d’Or title.

Bayern failed to land a direct replacement, although they did sign Sadio Mane from Liverpool.

Harry Kane ‘tempted’ by Bayern Munich transfer with Tottenham star open to move in future as contract runs down

TOTTENHAM striker Harry Kane is reportedly “tempted” by the prospect of a transfer to Bayern Munich.Kane, 29, was linked with a move to Germany throughout the summer window, but Spurs refused to sell him.

Meanwhile, Bayern have been seeking a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who forced a move to Barcelona in July.
Club chief Oliver Kahn has already confirmed that Kane is the priority target.
Although a move did not materialise before deadline day, the German giants are still eager to lure him to the Allianz Arena.
And according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenburg, Bayern Munich are already in talks with Kane’s representatives over a potential transfer NEXT summer.

Plettenburg said: “I am totally convinced Harry Kane will become a very, very hot topic at Bayern Munich for the next transfer window.
“It depends on the striker’s performance this year. Bayern bosses have told them ‘let’s see what happens. We have Mane. We have Coman, Sane, Gnabry and so on’.
“But if they don’t work and they will miss that number nine, then I told you, Bayern Munich is a number nine club. Harry Kane will become very hot.
“There was definitely contact between the Bayern responsibles and Charlie Kane, the brother of Harry Kane. We hear it confirmed that Harry Kane can really, really imagine joining Bayern.

“It’s too early to say he will do this. It depends on the situation with Tottenham. Nobody could believe Sadio Mane would make that step from the Premier League to Bayern, so why Harry Kane shouldn’t join him?”
Kane has less than two years remaining on his current contract with Tottenham, so if club chiefs cannot tie him down to a new deal they risk losing him for nothing in 2024 if he isn’t sold next summer.

The England skipper is one of the most sought-after strikers in world football.
In 393 appearances for Tottenham he’s scored 253 goals and assisted 59.
He is also one of England’s all-time top goalscorers. More

Bayern Munich stars ‘think Nagelsmann should question his tactics instead of his players’ amid Bundesliga struggles

The up and down form left the Bavarian side third in the Bundesliga table behind Union Berlin and Freiburg after six games.
Nageslmann slammed his players after their most recent game singling out three specifically.
He said: “The aggressiveness in possession was a bit lacking, a tad too much control, a bit too little risk and greed to go forward.
‘But we still had three huge chances where you have to score a third goal – with Serge [Gnabry], Leroy [Sane] and Jamal [Musiala].”

German outlet BILD claim that the 35-year-old manager’s choice not to aim criticism towards his own tactical choices have angered some members of the Bayern team.
Reports suggest some players think Nageslmann should take more responsibility.
Thomas Muller spoke after the draw saying: “I’m angry. Mad at ourselves. We have to look at ourselves. And every single one of them.”
Nageslmann has a squad of elite players and must try to keep them all happy making six changes to the team from the previous week.

Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic stated: “I said to the coach ‘It’s more important to me that we’d rather draw once more than that we have too many dissatisfied players.’
“Of course Julian is finding his style. This is also a learning process. He hasn’t had a squad like that either.”
Bayern face their old hero in Robert Lewandowski as they play Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek.

Bayern Munich prodigy Mathys Tel, 17, becomes club’s youngest-ever Bundesliga scorer but can’t end run of draws

BAYERN MUNICH prodigy Mathys Tel became the club’s youngest-ever Bundesliga scorer – but the Bavarian club could not end their run of draws. The German giants drew for a third consecutive time in the league this season after they conceded a 92nd minute penalty against Stuttgart.

It’s a surprising wobble of form for a club going for an 11th consecutive Bundesliga title.
But positives came in the form of the goal for Tel – and yet another strike for young star Jamal Musiala.
Tel’s goal meant he became the youngest goal scorer for the club in Bundesliga history at age 17 and 136 days.
He opened the scoring as he drilled in a low effort after being found in the middle by Alphonso Davies.

The wonderkid arrived from Rennes in July for around £26million.
He only made 10 appearances for Rennes last season.
But the young Frenchman captained France’s Under-17 side when they won the European Championship in June and is tipped for big things in France.
Tel’s effort yesterday counted for little as Bayern were pegged back when Chris Fuehrich equalised for Stuttgart.

The 19-year-old midfielder Musiala then gave Bayern back the lead as he scored his fifth Bundesliga goal this season.
But Bayern fell to another draw when Serhou Guirassy equalised from the penalty spot after Matthijs de Ligt fouled him deep into stoppage time.
The result follows surprise draws against Union Berlin and Borussia Monchengladbach.
This is in sharp contrast to their form at the very start of the season, such as when they won 7-0 at VfL Bochum 1848 and 6-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Bayern did manage to show their best form in the Champions League this week as they won 0-2 at Inter. More

So, after being encouraged to do so by doctors, he decided to donate to a sperm bank.
At the time he was also unsure if he would be able to play football again.
But, the midfielder is now back in action with a positive mindset.
He added: “I only have one testicle. So what? Everything works.”

And Richter now wants to educate others on the symptoms and effects of testicular tumours: “Get checked regularly and don’t play tough.
“The early visit to the doctor was my great luck!”
The Hertha BSC star is one of three Bundesliga players to have been diagnosed with a testicular tumour this year.
Timo Baumgartl, who is on loan at Hertha Union from PSV, was forced out of action in April with the devastating diagnosis, but he returned to light training last month.
And Borussia Dortmund striker Sebastien Haller was diagnosed with a tumour in July shortly after joining the German giants.
Two weeks ago, the 28-year-old revealed the early stages of treatment have not been easy.
When collecting his Eredivisie top scorer award for the 2021-22 season, he said: “The first two or three days during the hospital (visit) and two or three days after, it’s not the best moment.”
However, despite the struggle, Haller is keen to take the positives and has thanked his family, friends and team-mates for their support.

Denmark striker Jonas Wind begs Arsenal to sign him in ‘dream’ transfer just months after joining Wolfsburg

DENMARK striker Jonas Wind has admitted he wants to play for Arsenal, just months after moving to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Wind, 23, joined the Bundesliga outfit from FC Copenhagen in January but following his five league goals last season, he has got off to a nightmare start this season.

The 6ft 2″ forward suffered a hamstring injury off the bench in the first league game for the club.
But despite this, he is not allowing the injury to affect his long-term goals.
In an interview with Bulinews.com Wind revealed sealing a transfer to the Gunners would be a “dream” come true.
He said: “If we look into the future, Arsenal would be a dream destination for me, as it has always been my favourite club.

“In general, I think the Premier League is the best league in the world, and it would be exciting to play there.”
However, he did preface this by saying he was happy at the club since his move and currently had no intention of leaving.
Mikel Arteta currently has Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah to compete for the central striker position at Arsenal.
Although, given how squad building works in the modern game and the high turnover of players many clubs see, a spot could soon become available.

Wind added: “But as I said, that’s not what I’m focusing on at the moment.
“I’m doing well here in Wolfsburg, it’s a good club for me, and the Bundesliga is a great league to play in.” More

And he extended that goalscoring run in the Champions League – netting twice against Sevilla in a 4-0 rout.
In an interview with VG in 2020, the Norwegian sensation could only think of seven centre-forwards in world football better than him at the time – and it was some list.
The seven was made up of five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski, formerly of Dortmund’s rivals Bayern Munich.
Three of the remaining five strikers played their football in the Premier League with Tottenham hero Harry Kane, Roberto Firmino of Liverpool and Chelsea new Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang named.

Intriguingly, Timo Werner – who has struggled to replicate his form at Germany at Stamford Bridge and is now back in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig also made the list.
But despite the hundreds of goals between the seven, Haaland emphasised he had the self-confidence to choose himself to lead the line in a huge match.

There are, however, a few of the biggest No9 names left out.
Haaland omitted the likes of Luis Suarez, Karim Benzema and Romelu Lukaku – as well as Leicester legend Jamie Vardy.
The Norwegian said the Foxes frontman is the ‘best striker in the world’ at getting in behind defences and revealed he watches videos of him in action.

But the biggest surprise sees no Kylian Mbappe, arguably the most valuable player in the world, on the Norwegian’s list.
The pair may not see eye to eye after Mbappe, Neymar and their Paris Saint-Germain team-mates mocked the Dortmund star’s celebration following their comeback win in the Champions League in 2020.
