That deal is now one step closer after Chelsea struck a deal with RB Leipzig for a £52million fee, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues have also agreed on how the payments of the deal will be structured, with clauses in place to make the payments for the deal easier.
Romano adds a long-term deal is prepared to be signed from June 2023, with just the contract to be signed before the deal is finalised.
Chelsea are also lining up a deal for team-mate Josko Gvardiol despite seeing an £80m bid rejected last summer.

Nkunku missed out on the World Cup after picking up an injury in France training just days before the tournament began.
And in an additional blow to the Bundesliga Player of the Year, he will certainly be out until the New Year and may even need surgery after it was revealed he suffered ligament damage in his ankle.
The injury came about after Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga went into a late challenge with him.
Prior to the injury Nkunku was in electric form at club level.

But Chelsea will not trigger that clause, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Nevertheless, the two clubs do have a verbal agreement in place for Nkunku to head to Stamford Bridge at the end of the campaign.
Romano reports the Blues “have an agreement with RB Leipzig for a different kind of payment”, rather than triggering his release clause.
All that’s left on the club side of things is to get the deal officially over the line.

There is no hold up on the player side, with Nkunku thought to be happy to join the Blues.
Chelsea and RB Leipzig agreed a deal for the talented attacker back in September.
He even underwent a medical ahead of a proposed move next summer.
Meanwhile, German outlet SportBild Oliver Mintzlaff’s departure as Leipzig CEO won’t affect the deal.

Mintzlaff resigned from his role last week, but the agreement with Chelsea for Nkunku remains in place.
He is said to have promised Nkunku that he could leave if the right offer came in for him.
Nkunku has attracted interest from a number of Europe’s top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain.
That’s after he scored 35 goals in 52 appearances for Leipzig last season.
He’s carried that form into this campaign too, with 17 goals in 22 games so far in all competitions.
SunSport exclusively revealed last month that Liverpool had sent scouts to watch Nkunku in case his move to Chelsea broke down.
But Blues owner Todd Boehly is desperate to sign the Frenchman, having regularly met Mintzlaff for coffee in London.
The Blues are also after Nkunku’s Leipzig team-mate, centre-back Josko Gvardiol.

Now though it’s claimed not everybody at the club is sold on the idea of signing him.
German outlet Sport Bild say some Bayern insiders believe Kane, 29, does not suit the club’s style of football.
Bayern failed to recruit an out and out striker in the summer after Robert Lewandowski left for Barcelona.
And with Kane into the final two years of his Tottenham deal, rumours of a swoop at the end of the season have emerged.

Sky Germany previously reported that Bayern are ready and waiting to make their move if no new deal is signed.
The Bundesliga champions were previously linked with a move for the Spurs talisman over the summer.
But with some bigwigs thought to be unconvinced, their chances of signing the striker could take a hit.
Kane himself addressed the rumours in October, saying: “I’m focusing on Tottenham Hotspur and trying to do our best.

CEO Oliver Kahn said of Kane: “He is under contract with Tottenham.
“Sure, an absolute top striker, but that’s all a dream of the future.”
While Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann said: “He’s very strong, brilliant with head and both feet. He could score a lot in the Bundesliga.

That would make Bellingham the Premier League’s most expensive player ever – breaking the £100m bar set by Jack Grealish last summer.
However, it is not just Liverpool chasing a big-money move for the teenager.
The Reds face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United for his signature.
However, SunSport understands Real Madrid are in pole position as they look to add another rising star into their midfield after already signing Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni. More

Barcelona are keen to sign a full-back with nobody consistently nailing down the spot in the starting XI this season.
Sergi Roberto has featured 11 times on the right side of the defence this campaign but his contract ends at the end of this season.
Former Arsenal ace Hector Bellerin was signed by Barca in the summer to play there but he has made just four appearances since arriving at the Nou Camp.
Jules Kounde has had to fill in at right-back despite predominately being a centre-back.

Xavi reportedly sees adding a new full-back to the squad as a priority and Pavard could be his first choice, claim outlet Sport, after scoring against his potential new employers.

Union Berlin are Germany’s hipster club brought to life by the blood of their fans threatening Bayern Munich’s dominance

A CLUB which has been built on the blood, sweat and tears of its fans was never going to stay quiet for long. After setting the early pace, Union Berlin are raising eyebrows by threatening to usurp the Bavarian stranglehold on Europe’s most predictable league.

They go into this weekend’s games with a one point lead over giants Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga.
But the difference between both clubs is enormous.
While Bayern prides itself on serial success, Union are a club welded together by failure.
After brushes with financial turmoil in the 1990s, the club’s fans launched a “Bleed for Berlin” campaign in 2004.

Hundreds of “Iron Berliners” donated blood to hospitals in exchange for money to help gain a licence to enter the fourth division.
And Berlin’s hipster club’s pulse has continued to rise after finally hoisting themselves into the Bundesliga for the first time in 2019.
Full-back Julian Ryerson, who has been with the club since 2018, explained: “Our history is not like anybody else’s.
“It has been an amazing development.

“The way the club is run and the fans have been the same since the fourth division.
    “People are important here.
“ This is a family club and it always will be.”
After a shock defeat to basement boys VFL Bochum last week, Berlin are aiming to put things right against Monchengladbach this Sunday.

Bayern are the only side this season to travel to Berlin’s tight 23,000 seater Alten Forsterei stadium and leave with a point.
It is no surprise after the bricks of the stadium were laid by the fans themselves.
Union’s on-pitch success in the lower divisions saw the need to renovate their old stadium in 2009.
But with cash still tight over 2,000 fans volunteered and worked a total of 140,000 hours to modernise their home.
Norwegian international Ryerson, 24, added: “When you talk about finances we are a completely different club compared to Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
“You have to remind yourself of what the fans have done in every game.

“It is always in the back of your mind. It is not normal how they are during the games.
“They push us on and off the pitch and it makes us strong here at home.”
But it is not only Berlin’s fans which set them apart from every other club in the Bundesliga.
Fellow gatecrashers to the German establishment, RB Leipzig, also have East German roots but have been given their wings by capitalist behemoths Red Bull.
Our history is not like anybody else’s. Even though we are progressing we won’t change.”Julian Ryerson, Full-back
Union Berlin’s growth has come organically by continuing to be an eastern outsider.
Even after losing star striker Taiwo Awoniyi to Nottingham Forest this summer, the club did not break the bank to replace him.
And a glance across the capital to rivals Hertha Berlin proves spending money does not always breed success.
In the four years since Urs Fischer, a quiet Swiss, took over at Union, Hertha have had eight managers and spent £170million on transfers.
They managed to stay in the Bundesliga after a narrow win over Hamburg in a relegation play-off while Union finished one point away from the Champions League places.
Ryerson said: “Hertha have been extremely inconsistent.
“What has been good here is the consistency.
“It speaks for our hard work and how everyone is pulling in the same direction.
“We have our core values and it is about staying the same. This is a cool club with a cool stadium.
“Even though we are progressing we won’t change.” More
