But it has been revealed that the boot he wore proved pivotal in avoiding an even worse situationCredit: Getty
It left him with a broken leg which has ruled him out for the rest of the season.
However, the consequences of the trip could have been far worse if the emergency services were not on hand close by.
BILD report that had a “rescue helicopter” not been nearby when the accident happened then he would have been out for far longer.
Neuer’s ski boot has also been credited as holding his foot together, with the compression the boot provided limiting the swelling around the injury on his leg caused by severe bleeding.

Had the boot and swift services not been factors, the swelling around the leg would have meant doctors could not operate straight away.
Fortunately, Neuer was able to undergo surgery straight away and immediately start the recovery process.
Furthermore, doctors are expecting “no further complications” following the surgery.
The Bayern Munich captain’s recovery will see him not allowed to “move his leg until the end of February” at the earliest.

The former goalkeeper, who had his playing career cruelly cut short by an ACL injury, was best man at Neuer’s wedding.

They allege that Tapalovic fell out with Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann.

It’s claimed that their falling out was due to Tapalovic allegedly “leaking” private conversations between coaching staff to Neuer.
The report added that Neuer, 36, would then relay information to other senior figures within the playing squad.
Following Tapalovic’s exit, the Germany goalkeeper posted an emotional farewell on Instagram.

“Everyone, not only in Munich, knows that all these achievements would never have been possible without you!
“Last but not least, you shaped and lifted me and my goalkeeping game to a new level. I will miss you!”
Neuer’s post received heart emoji comments from former Bayern stars David Alaba and Franck Ribery.
Tapalovic was best man in 2017, when Neuer married ex-wife Nina Weiss.
The goalkeeper walked down the aisle on crutches after suffering an injury in the Champions League while playing for Bayern that year.

His form during the opening months of this season earned him a place in Germany’s 26-man World Cup squad.
And he was recently warned against moving by German legend Lothar Matthaus.
He told Sky in Germany: “If Moukoko is all about the money, I might recommend him to join Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.
“But if he wants to further expand his still young and very promising career and wants to become a great footballer, then there is no better place for him to start than with Borussia Dortmund.
“There’s nothing he can’t get there. Fantastic fans, a healthy club, bosses and coaches who trust him and certainly a decent salary.
I think it would be a mistake if he left BVBLothar Matthaus
“What does he want after a few good months in the Bundesliga at Chelsea, Newcastle or anywhere else abroad at the age of 18?
“The competition is tough there. The clubs, fans and everyone else won’t have nearly as much patience or attention for him.
