Chelsea took advantage and ‘made good use’ of Covid-19 pandemic to secure Kai Havertz transfer, claims Leverkusen chief

CHELSEA made good use of the coronavirus pandemic, according to Bayer Leverkusen chief Rudi Voller.
The Blues snapped up Kai Havertz, 21, from the Germans in an £70million deal.

Chelsea used the coronavirus period to their benefit in the transfer market signing Kai Havertz

    2

That is according to Bayer Leverkusen chief Rudi Voller

That came after they had also splashed the cash on Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech.
While Thiago Silva was brought in on a free.
The transfer spree has come at a time when the rest of football is desperately trying to stave off the financial implications of the Covid-19 pandemic.
And German legend Voller thinks the Blues have been shrewd in their business.

He told Bild: “Chelsea simply made good use of the coronavirus period.
“Next year it would have been much harder for Chelsea to get Kai.
“Other interested teams preferred to hold back because of the high transfer fee in this special and uncertain time.
“We also have significant revenue losses in times of the coronavirus.

“And we will, of course, take that into account and certainly not completely reinvest the transfer fee we got for Kai.

“Although we still have to do something to maintain the level or to improve.”
It recently emerged Havertz reportedly allowed Leverkusen to KEEP his £9million transfer bonus to ensure he got his move to Chelsea.
Sport Bild detail how Havertz’s interest in joining Chelsea was based around his love of manager Frank Lampard.
The German is said to have been in contact with the former England star for a number of months.
And the transfer came to a head in late August when Chelsea transfer fixer Marina Granovskaia sat down with Leverkusen bosses in the south of France.

The Bundesliga side were adamant they would only sell their prize asset for £90m.
But the Blues managed to cut a whopping £20m off that asking price, with reports in Germany insisting they are due to make bonus payments on top.
Havertz is certainly getting a fair deal with his weekly wage purported to be £310,000-a-week, on a five-year contract.

David Alaba’s agent is a ‘greedy piranha’, raps ex-Bayern Munich supremo Uli Hoeness in sensational rant

DAVID ALABA’S agent Pini Zahavi is a “greedy piranha”, according to ex-Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness.
The Bundesliga champions have been trying to extend the Austrian’s contract for months, with his current deal having just run into its final year.

But they appear to be struggling to find a breakthrough – and former chief Hoeness, 68, believes he knows why.
The German, who stepped down as club president last November, told Sport1: “He [Alaba] has a greedy piranha for an agent.
“His father, whom I like a lot, he’s letting himself be influenced by him very much.”

Israeli super-agent Zahavi, 77, also represents Robert Lewandowski – and appears to have had a strained relationship with Bayern’s hierarchy down the years.
And Hoeness was scathing of his methods of negotiation.
He continued: “It’s purely about money.
“If you only knew what Mr. Zahavi demands only for himself for David’s signature for an eight-figure sum.

“That is not at all possible. I can understand that Hasan [Salihamidzic] totally flipped out at a meeting. The arguments that are exchanged there defy belief.”

On Alaba himself, however, Hoeness couldn’t have been more complimentary.
He said: “He’s a super guy.
“Hansi Flick absolutely wants to keep him. Everyone wants him to stay. He’s a very good player.
“I hope that David and his father realize that a four or five-year contract at FC Bayern is the best for them and that they adapt to our wage structure. Then everyone would be happy.
“The last millions this is about will not make him happier – but would mess up our wage structure. That’s why the club has to be very firm in this matter.”

From my point of view, that has no style. They’re trying to blackmail us
Uli Hoeness on Manchester United and Liverpool

Another Bayern star to only have a year remaining on his contract is Thiago Alcantara, and Hoeness, characteristically, pulled no punches when speaking about his potential suitors, Manchester United and Liverpool.
He said: “A while ago we agreed on a new four-year contract. Some days later he said: ‘I’m looking for a new challenge.’ Which is totally okay.
“I think he obviously has an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United or both of them. Now both clubs are bluffing, and no one has contacted Bayern Munich officially.
“From my point of view, that has no style. They’re trying to blackmail us, by waiting until the last week, when they’re going to make a cheap offer.
“In that case FC Bayern have to ask themselves the question: do they want to go along with that or do they tell the player that he has to stay.
“It’s going to be a hot three weeks until [the transfer window closes on] October 5.”

Man Utd and Liverpool trying to ‘blackmail’ Bayern by plotting late Thiago transfer bid, claims ex-president Uli Hoeness

EX-BAYERN MUNICH chief Uli Hoeness has incredibly accused Manchester United and Liverpool of trying to “blackmail” his former club over a deal for Thiago.
The Premier League duo have both been linked with the Spanish star this summer, as he plots his way out of the European champions.

No deal has formally been struck between the clubs although Hoeness, 68, believes that they have both already agreed terms with the midfielder.
And in explosive quotes, the German has accused them of having “no style” as they near the end of the transfer window.
He told Sport1: “It is a difficult situation.
“A while ago we agreed on a new four-year contract. Some days later he said: ‘I’m looking for a new challenge.’ Which is totally okay.

“I think he obviously has an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United or both of them. Now both clubs are bluffing, and no one has contacted Bayern Munich officially.

With just one year remaining on his contract, however, he could depart for a new challenge.

Kai Havertz ‘waived £9m BONUS to seal £89m Chelsea transfer’ from Bayer Leverkusen and link up with hero Lampard

KAI HAVERTZ allowed Bayer Leverkusen to KEEP his £9million transfer bonus to ensure he got his move to Chelsea, according to reports.
The Blues splashed out an initial £72m on the midfielder, 21, last week and new information out of Germany outlines just how keen he was to seal the deal.

Sport Bild detail how Havertz’s interest in joining Chelsea was based around his love of manager Frank Lampard.
The German is said to have been in contact with the former England star for a number of months.
And the transfer came to a head in late August when Chelsea transfer fixer Marina Granovskaia sat down with Bayer Leverkusen bosses in the south of France.
With the Premier League side happy to pay an initial £72m up front, negotiations became focused on what would trigger the additional bonus payments.

Factors such as title wins and qualifying for the Champions League were divvied up to complete the £89m fee, ten per cent of which was due to go to Havertz.
It is claimed that the player waived this contract clause in order to help Bayer along with the sale.
However, Havertz is reportedly due to cash in later on in his Chelsea career, as he will instead be due a considerable chunk of the bonus add-ons if the Blues are successful.
The Aachen-born ace is certainly getting a fair deal with his weekly wage purported to be £310,000-a-week, on a five-year contract.

Lampard was excited to get to work with his new star when addressing the media on Thursday.
He told the club website: “He is a player I have been aware of for a long time and as a fellow attacking midfield player, I have paid particular attention to those type of players for some time.
“I was aware of his talent and in conjunction with the club, we know how we want to go forward and look to improve in the right areas.

“And for players who are going to be here hopefully to improve and mature, but are already at a very high level, he absolutely fitted the bill for us, so I am delighted to have him.”
Indeed, it was Lampard’s display in Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League win that first inspired Havertz.
The Bild report describes how the youngster was “captivated” by the Blues legend’s calmness on the ball and offensive capacity, as well as the club’s rise as a new footballing power.

David Alaba ‘wants to quit Bayern Munich this summer’ putting Man City on transfer alert despite £260k-a-week offer

DAVID Alaba wants to quit Bayern Munich this summer and Manchester City are ready to pounce, according to reports.
The 28-year-old reportedly wants the Champions League winners to sell him this window so they can make some cash – or he’ll walk out for free next summer.

    2

Reports from German newspaper Bild say the club and player are at a standstill on agreeing an extension on his contract which only has a year to run.
Alaba has spent his entire senior career at the German giants and made 40 appearances for them last season.
That ended with their 1-0 win against PSG in the Champions League final, giving him his second winners’ medal in Europe’s elite competition.

But with ex-boss Pep Guardiola and City linked to the left-back, his continued stay at the club looks far from guaranteed.
Sky Germany reported last month that Alaba’s advisers had held contract talks in Lisbon with Bayern bosses, but an offer of £260,000 a week, or £13.5m a year, was rejected.
It is believed Alaba wants wages closer to the club’s biggest earners of sharpshooter Robert Lewandowski and team veteran Thomas Muller.
The versatile defender has played along the back line, in midfield and on the wing.

It is no surprise that he has been linked to Manchester United and Chelsea before – and would tempt several big European clubs now.

It is unknown what fee Bayern Munich would accept for the Austrian.
But Thiago Alcantara, who also has a year left on his contract, is believed to be available for a cut-price £27 million.
Manchester United and Liverpool are both said to be after the Spaniard, who has admitted he wants a new challenge after helping Bayern conquer Europe.

‘Desperate’ Man Utd slammed over Jadon Sancho transfer by Gary Neville after stalling over £109m deal

“DESPERATE” Manchester United should have acted quicker to land £109million star Jadon Sancho, according to Gary Neville.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the England ace for months.

Gary Neville thinks Man Utd could have acted quicker to land Jadon Sancho

    2

The Red Devils icon said his old club can come off as ‘desperate’ in negotiations and should now switch their focus
But the deal stalled after Dortmund’s August 10 deadline to complete the move passed.
The Bundesliga side wanted the transfer wrapped up quickly to avoid disruption to their pre-season preparations and Neville thinks United could have done more to bag the 20-year-old.
He told the Mail: “Like everyone else they had three months off because of coronavirus, so I don’t think it should be the case they didn’t have the resource or time to get things done.
“Chelsea got their business done, [Manchester] City have got three or four pieces done. I don’t think timing’s the issue.

“It’s just a thing with United that every time they go for a player in the last four, five, six years it feels they are a little bit desperate.
“They think they can hang on but they always pay it [the asking price] in the end.
“That’s sometimes where I think you can take control, give a hard deadline and say ‘we’re moving away from this deal’.”
After the deadline passed, Dortmund director Michael Zorc told United to forget about a deal this summer.

And Neville thinks his old club should now focus on another star.
He added: “The fact that it’s dragged on. Just say to Dortmund ‘leave him there’ and go get another player.
“There are plenty of players around, there can’t be just one player you’re chasing.
“It is frustrating but I do think United have been better in these last couple of seasons, more careful and not making mistakes either.

“If you can’t get a deal done [for Sancho] you have to move on. You certainly have to give hard deadlines on players.”
Neville’s fellow Sky pundit Jamie Carragher recently claimed United could lose out on the Sancho signing to their bitter rivals Liverpool.
And Sancho himself also revealed he has a sleep problem and said he needs to be more professional.

Real Madrid plot astonishing £261MILLION transfer splurge on Mbappe, Haaland and Camavinga next summer

REAL MADRID are reportedly desperate to bring Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Eduardo Camavingo to the Bernabeu next summer.

The three players they are looking to sign are Mbappe, Haaland and Camavinga, who are worth a combined £261milion according to Transfermarkt.

ABC report how the trio are firmly on the radar of Zinedine Zidane, with the Frenchman keen on a huge squad overhaul.
Rennes midfielder Camavinga is understood to have been identified as the perfect long-term successor to Casemiro.
It has been said that if the club wasn’t affected by Covid-19, the 17-year-old would already be a Los Blancos player.

Real are also desperate to bolster their attack, with Mbappe to potentially cost less next summer with his Paris Saint-Germain contract to expire in 2022.
And Madrid want Haaland to spearhead their front-line with Mbappe and Hazard to play either side of him.
Borussia Dortmund are desperate to keep hold of the Norwegian international, but the Budesliga side are aware of Real’s interest in the forward.

Real know they still have to get plenty of players off their books in order to raise funds, with James Rodriguez the first person to leave as Everton close in on a deal.

And they are hoping Manchester United sign left-back Sergio Reguilon for £27m having offered the player to the Red Devils.
Zidane remains desperate to offload Bale, but the former Tottenham ace’s £15.1million-a-year wages have put off potential suitors.
