Haaland should snub Man Utd & City for Chelsea and Solskjaer should go for mega Kane transfer move instead, says Merson

ERLING HAALAND should snub the two Manchester clubs and join Chelsea instead, according to Paul Merson.
And the Sky Sports pundit reckons Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should target a mega Harry Kane transfer instead.

Manchester United were linked with signing Haaland before he joined Borussia Dortmund last season.
The Red Devils continue to be interested – as do Pep Guardiola’s City and Real Madrid with respective long-term replacements for Sergio Aguero and Karim Benzema needed.
But Merse thinks Haaland is better of at Stamford Bridge and could be the final piece in Thomas Tuchel’s puzzle.
He told the Daily Star: “Of all the teams who are in for Erling Haaland, Chelsea are the ones who need him most.

“They have always been successful with someone who has a presence up front and Haaland has that. He’s going to score bundles wherever he goes.
“And if you buy him this summer, you still have the prospect of being able to sell him for a profit later down the line because of his age.
“I’m not sure he’s such a good fit for Manchester City, where he probably wouldn’t play as much.
“But for whoever gets him, it will be worth it. He puts up numbers and he keeps on doing it.

“Whoever signs him will have a chance of winning the league.”
Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and veteran Edinson Cavani have all featured centrally but Merson thinks United should also be targeting a new No9 to propel them back to the top.
And with reports suggesting Ed Woodward is prepared to splash the cash, the ex-Arsenal forward identified the Spurs and England man as the ideal candidate.
He added: “Manchester United should also be in for Haaland.
“Edinson Cavani has done great there but he isn’t the future of Manchester United.
“If they went and got Haaland it would take them to another level.
“But do they go for Harry Kane instead? Kane isn’t going to Chelsea. No chance.
“But he might go to United. And that would leave Chelsea to go for Haaland.”

Bayern confirm bargain £37m Dayot Upamecano transfer in major blow to Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool

BAYERN MUNICH have won the race to sign RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano.
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed the French centre-back will be heading to Bavaria this summer despite strong interest from the Premier League.

Bayern will meet Upamecano’s £37million release clause after he agreed a five-year contract.
And it means suitors Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool will not be getting their hands on the 22-year-old, rated as one of the best young centre-backs in Europe.
Upamecano made his decision as Bayern became just the second team to win the Sextuple following Thursday’s Club World Cup triumph.
And he will head to the Allianz Arena as a direct replacement for David Alaba, who is leaving the German champions on a free transfer.

Salihamidzic told Bild: “I can [confirm reports we’ve won the race], and we are very happy about it.
“We had very good, intensive and professional discussions with Dayot and his advisor for many months. We knew we had strong competition.
“Upamecano is a young player whose qualities have already developed extraordinarily. I was always convinced we had presented a good concept.
“We presented him with our vision of his career at Bayern.

“During the past week I had further talks with everyone involved.
“At the end of a long process, the player, family and management were convinced that Bayern was the right club.
“Upamecano will play for Bayern for the next five years.”

Angelino’s Man City permanent transfer exit set to be triggered tonight when RB Leipzig play Augsburg

ANGELINO’S permanent exit from Manchester City is likely to be rubber-stamped tonight.
RB Leipzig negotiated another loan deal for the Spanish full-back in the summer after he impressed there last season.

But the agreement included a clause which said a £15.8 million fee would be triggered if he makes 12 appearances – with five in the second part of the season.
And he will hit that mark if – as expected – he plays for Red Bull in their German league game against Augsburg this evening.
That means his loan will continue for the remainder of the season but the permanent deal will automatically kick in at the end of the campaign.
Angelino, 24, has been a key part of Julian Nagelsmann’s plans in the current campaign.

He even helped put City’s local rivals Manchester United out of the Champions League during Leipzig’s 3-2 win in December.

He has missed just one of their 29 matches – so barring a serious injury there is no doubt the agreement will be triggered.
City have included another buyback option in the deal meaning they have the chance to purchase Angelino for around £35 million.

He was initially sold to PSV Eindhoven in summer 2018 but then bought back for around £5.8 million a year later.

A Bayern statement read: “Thomas Müller, 31, has tested positive for coronavirus at the Fifa Club World Cup in Doha and was promptly isolated.
“Following his return to Munich, he will immediately go into quarantine. FC Bayern has agreed this with the relevant authorities.
“The whole FC Bayern team was tested again on Thursday. There were no further positive cases.”
Eric Chupo-Moting is likely to replace the German international in Hansi Flick’s side for the game which kicks off at 6pm UK time on February 11.

Muller played in his side’s 2-0 semi-final win over Al Ahly and was replaced by Chupo-Moting in the second-half.
Flick will also be without the Bayern icon for their next two Bundesliga games.
He will miss their match against Arminia and Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Germans then face Lazio in the last-16 of the Champions League on February 23.

And Muller will have to register a negative Covid test at least 48 hours before kick-off in order to play.
Bayern are also without centre-back Jerome Boateng who left the squad after the tragic death of his ex-girlfriend.
Model Kasia Lenhardt was found dead in her Berlin apartment on Tuesday but police are not treating her death as suspicious.
Last week, Boateng announced he and mum-of-one Kasia, 25, had split after 15 months together.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Sancho is set to be up for grabs during the next transfer window.
The England international, 20, was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer.
But the switch collapsed as Ole Gunnar Solskajer refused to meet Dortmund’s £108million price-tag.
However, the Bundesliga side have now lowered their asking price by a whopping £20m.

German source WAZ claim Dortmund have drawn up an eight-man shortlist of players they want to sell.
The club desperately need to raise funds to recoup their losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Sancho’s name has been included along with Manchester City and Liverpool target Erling Haaland.
Axel Witsel, Manuel Akanji, Mahmoud Dahoud, Giovanni Reyna, Jude Bellingham and Raphael Guerreiro could also be sold.

A number of Europe’s biggest clubs will be interested in Sancho if he is available in the summer.
Chelsea, now managed by Thomas Tuchel, are the latest team to be linked to the England winger.

Boss Hansi Flick revealed the former Manchester City centre-back will return to Munich from Qatar – where the tournament is being staged – for personal reasons.
Model Kasia Lenhardt was found dead in her Berlin apartment on Tuesday but police are not treating her death as suspicious.
Last week, Boateng announced he and mum-of-one Kasia, 25, had split after 15 months together.
German news outlet Bild exclusively revealed that Kasia had been involved in a car accident which wrote off the footballer’s Mini on January 5.

In his statement, Jerome said it was time to ‘draw a line’ and ‘apologise to everyone I’ve hurt’ including his ex-girlfriend Rebecca and their children.
Yet Polish-born Kasia – who had a tattoo of ‘Jerome’ on her torso – responded by saying she had ended the relationship because of the World Cup winner’s ‘lies and constant infidelity’.
Kasia shared a final cryptic Instagram post which read: “Now is where you draw the line. Enough.”
Kasia shot to fame on TV show Germany’s Next Top Model in 2012 and after finishing fourth, she went on to star in Hell’s Kitchen and Models in Babyglück.

Kylian Mbappe vs Erling Haaland stats compared with Real Madrid to secure transfer for ‘one of two strikers’

REAL MADRID are reportedly preparing to sign either Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland this summer.
The two strikers are among the hottest talents in world football and are both tipped to be the long-term successor to Karim Benzema at the Bernabeu.

Mbappe has been tearing it up in Ligue 1 since his breakthrough season in 2016-17 while Haaland earned his move to Borussia Dortmund a year ago after bursting on to the scene with Red Bull Salzburg.
And they even have the murmurings of a rivalry after the World Cup winner mocked the Norwegian’s goal celebration when they met in the Champions League last year.
But who is enjoying the better season this term ahead of a proposed move to Real Madrid?
Well, it’s pretty close – but on paper, it’s Haaland… just.

The Leeds-born forward, also a target for Manchester City, has 22 goals in 22 appearances, averaging one every 85 minutes.
Mbappe, meanwhile, has 18 in 26 at a ratio of 110 minutes per goal – having featured for 113 minutes more across all competitions.
The Paris Saint-German hero, 22, boasts nine assists to Haaland’s five – meaning they both have 27 goal involvements this term.
Haaland, 20, just comes out on top, therefore, with 69 minutes per goal involvement and Mbappe just behind on 73.

He also boasts a slightly better shot-conversion rate of 29 per cent to Mbappe’s 22 per cent.
On the team front, both sides are lagging behind in their respective title races.
Dortmund are sixth, a whopping 16 points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich, while PSG sit third, a point behind Lyon and three off Lille.
Both sides topped their Champions League group and face Spanish opponents in the last 16.
