Fans joke Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland won’t leave Dortmund after they hire ‘world’s sexiest athlete’ to train them

FANS have joked Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland will stay at Borussia Dortmund after they hired the ‘world’s sexiest athlete’ to train them.
Alica Schmidt is a 22-year-old Olympic hopeful specialising in middle distance running who also pursued a career in modelling.

And she has been working with Bundesliga giants Dortmund for over a year now as part of her sponsorship deal with Puma.
Schmidt was again recently filmed at the club’s training complex where she gave the stars a workout of her own.
And some predicted on Instagram that Dortmund were doing all they can to keep hold of star pair Sancho, 20, and Haaland, also 20.
One said: “Sancho is not going to leave I bet.”

Another said: “That’s why players stay in Dortmund.”
One added: “This is the greatest strategy of any club to keep their best players.”
Another added: “I bet this is why Haaland didn’t wanna leave.”
Schmidt was once named the ‘Sexiest Athlete in the World’ by Australian magazine ‘Busted Coverage’.

But she is hoping to steal headlines on the track by qualifying for the delayed Tokyo Olympic Games this summer.
Schmidt impressed at junior level and first came to prominence by helping Germany take silver in 4×400 relay at the 2017 European Athletics Under-20 Championships.
The runner then carried on her success in 2019 by helping the national quartet to the U23 European Championships bronze in the 4×400 relay.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, major athletic tournaments were all postponed – but Schmidt continued to train.
Despite a halt in athletics, Dortmund were fortunate enough to resume football in May 2020.

They finished the season in second behind Bayern Munich, but currently trail in fifth, off the pace needed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Sancho was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United last summer, but his £109million price tag caused a stumbling block.
This year, however, the Covid-19 crisis has left Dortmund facing huge financial losses, causing the winger’s price tag to be dropped.
For similar reasons, striker Haaland also has an uncertain future, with Chelsea, City and United all linked.
But the Norwegian will come at a cost, believing to be valued at £150m.

Ex-Chelsea academy star Jamal Musiala is ‘something special’, claims Bayern Munich and Germany great Joshua Kimmich

BAYERN MUNICH superstar Joshua Kimmich has gushed over ‘special’ talent Jamal Musiala.
Having left Chelsea’s esteemed academy in 2019, teenager Musiala has already gone on to become a key man at Bayern.

After briefly debuting toward the end of last season, the attacking midfielder has made 26 appearances this time around.
And immediately after first training with Musiala, mainstay Kimmich, 26, knew that his team had secured ‘something special’.
He told Bayern TV: “Already in his first training sessions with us, you could see that he can really do something special.
“He’s full of tricks, unpredictable and also very dynamic when it comes to controlling the ball, especially with his first touch. He always tries to take the ball forward.

“When I think about where I was at his age, I was still in my youth at VfB Stuttgart.
“He’s very advanced for his age. As a person, he’s very calm and reserved.
“I think he can and will look to come out of his shell even more as his self-confidence also grows.”
As well as for Bayern, Kimmich could now also turn out alongside Musiala for Germany, after the 18-year-old committed his future to Joachim Low’s side.

Born in Stuttgart, Musiala moved to England at a young age – and has represented both countries at youth level.
He most recently featured for Aidy Boothroyd’s England Under-21 side in November.
But after talks with Low, Musiala opted to play for Die Mannschaft instead.
He told The Athletic: “I’ve thought about this question a lot. What is best for my future? Where do I have more chances to play?
“In the end, I just listened to the feeling that over a long period of time kept telling me that it was the right decision to play for Germany, the land I was born in. Still, it wasn’t an easy decision for me.”

Arsenal join Man Utd and Chelsea in Ibrahima Konate transfer battle as Arteta targets RB Leipzig defender

ARSENAL are after RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, according to reports.
The Frenchman, 21, has also attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid with his stellar displays for the German side.

And the Gunners believe that they can muscle in to seal his signature under their rivals’ noses this summer.
According to the Standard, Arsenal are ‘tracking’ Konate in the hope that he becomes available for transfer at the end of the season.
Boss Mikel Arteta has been ruthlessly reshaping his squad this season, with defenders Sead Kolasinac, Shkodran Mustafi and William Saliba having all been allowed to leave either permanently or on loan last month.
And the Spaniard has this week confessed that Arsenal are already planning ahead for the summer window.

He said: “We will see. We are planning what’s going to happen in the summer. It will depend on where we finish, how we finish.
“I think what we had to in December is unprecedented for a club of this stature. To do the amount of transactions that we had to make it tells you as well where we are.
“I think it was very much needed and you want to improve, you want to do that.
“It’s where you have things in the house and you believe that you can improve on it. Externally acquiring players to go to the next level. Everything is planned and let’s see.”

The Gunners’ budget is likely to largely depend on whether they can qualify for Europe this season.
Arsenal are currently tenth, eight points off the top four places.
But they could qualify for the Champions League through winning the Europa League.
Konate has endured an injury-plagued young career since joining RB Leipzig from Sochaux in 2017.
The France Under-21 international has made only 16 Bundesliga appearances since the start of last season, having suffered from a muscle tear and an ankle issue.
But when he has been able to take to the field, he has impressed alongside compatriot Dayot Upamecano.
With Upamecano having already agreed to join Bayern Munich in the summer, however, it remains to be seen whether RB Leipzig will be willing to also cash in on their other prodigious French defender.

Leicester keen on Ismail Jakobs transfer with Brighton also interested in 21-year-old Cologne midfielder

LEICESTER CITY are interested in Cologne wide man Ismail Jakobs, according to reports.
But the Foxes face competition for the 21-year-old from Brighton.

According to the Daily Mail, Brendan Rodgers’ side have been tracking the Bundesliga star for more than a year.
Jakobs can play anywhere down the left flank but has spent the majority of his time since breaking into the first team last season as a winger.
In 38 appearances, the Germany Under-21 international has scored three and assisted four.
The youngster was nominated for the German top flight’s rookie of the year gong last season alongside Erling Haaland but was pipped by Alphonso Davies.

Cologne tied their academy graduate – who joined the club in 2012 – down to his latest deal in October, which keeps him under contract until 2024.
Leicester’s first-choice pair at down the left were James Justin and Harvey Barnes for most of the season.
But the English pair both sustained knee injuries requiring surgery – full-back Justin’s an ACL problem which ruled him out until well into the new campaign.
Cengiz Under is unlikely to be offerred a permanent deal at the King Power once his loan from Roma expires this summer.

So a versatile wide man is unsurprisingly on Rodgers’ wish list for the next transfer window.
Graham Potter, meanwhile, will be keen to bolster his squad with an extra winger should his Seagulls avoid the drop come May.
The Amex side were linked with former Leicester man Ahmed Musa in February after West Brom failed in their pursuit of the Nigerian.
Brighton and Leicester went head to head in a transfer battle last summer before Adam Lallana headed back to the south coast rather than reuniting with his ex-Liverpool boss.

Chelsea have ‘NO chance of Erling Haaland transfer with Dortmund star only wanting move to six clubs including Man Utd’

CHELSEA have ‘no chance’ of signing Erling Haaland from Dortmund this summer – it’s been claimed.
The Norwegian striker, 20, is one of the hottest young properties in European football with transfer interest across the continent.

Erling Haaland has reportedly narrowed down his choices to six clubsCredit: AFP

The front page of Sport Bild say Chelsea have ‘no chance’ to sign him

And respected German outlet Sport Bild say that Chelsea have ‘no chance’ to sign the £150m striker, and neither do Bayern Munich.
The report in Germany also says that Haaland has narrowed his choices down to six clubs.
Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City would be the only Premier League sides Haaland might join.
And the 20-year-old is also interested in joining Juventus or either Spanish giants Real Madrid or Barcelona.

The report adds that Haaland wants to join a ‘top club’ and not take another intermediate step.
He joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg last January and has scored 43 goals in 45 games for the Bundesliga side.
Man Utd were close to signing Haaland last January, but boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks it will be hard to splash huge sums amid the pandemic.

Solskjaer said: “There’s going to be less transfers happening in the world of football with all these changes.
“The pandemic is definitely affecting everyone in football, the lack of finances, it’s affected everyone.
“All clubs in the world are going through the same situation so it’s no different for other clubs than for us.”

Jadon Sancho injury fears as England ace grimaces in pain with ice pack on leg after scoring Dortmund winner in cup

JADON SANCHO fired Borussia Dortmund into the German Cup semis – but then limped off injured.
The England star scored the only goal in the 1-0 victory over Monchengladbach before being taken off just two minutes later.

Sancho slotted home in the 66th minute, and was replaced by Thorgan Hazard moments later.
He was seen watching the final stages of the German Cup clash from the bench with an ice pack on his leg.
Interim manager Edin Terzic said: “Raphael Guerreiro and Jadon Sancho both carried knocks into the match.
“Both felt their muscles, and we didn’t want to take any risks.

“We’ll have to see how it goes in the next few days.”
The injury will spark fears for England boss Gareth Southgate, with three crucial World Cup qualifiers on the horizon.
The Three Lions face San Marino, Albania and Poland in a triple header at the end of this month.
Sancho has become a regular in the side in recent times.

    MONSTER MONCH
Monchengladbach chief Marco Rose last month agreed to swap his current setting to become the new boss of Dortmund and take over from Terzic this summer.
But things have gone sour for him at Gladbach ever since, with the Bundesliga side now winless in their last five league games.
And their season continued to unravel last night.

Following a good early chance squandered by Marco Reus, Erling Haaland broke clear in the 36th minute and should have scored with only the keeper to beat.
The score remained level, however, as the Norwegian fired wide.
The hosts did manage to put the ball in the net on the stoke of halftime – but Marcus Thuram’s effort was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.
Haaland also thought he had scored early in the second half, only for VAR to intervene once again.

There was nothing wrong with Sancho’s goal, however, as he finished off a counter-attack that started from a Gladbach corner, with his shot going in off the post in the 66th minute.
Home keeper Tobias Sippel then denied Haaland in the 83rd minute, before Dortmund were reduced to ten men late on after Mahmoud Dahoud received a second booking in stoppage time.
Dortmund have bounced back after a recent bad run, winning their last four games in all competitions, including a 3-2 victory over Sevilla in their Champions League round of 16 first leg.

Five world class strikers Man Utd could try to sign including Kane and Haaland after Carragher’s transfer warning

MANCHESTER UNITED lack ‘quality’ upfront and ‘need a centre-forward more than anything’, according to Jamie Carragher.
And SunSport have detailed five big name strikers the Red Devils could sign at the end of the season.

Jamie Carragher thinks Man Utd need a striker more than anythingCredit: Reuters

The Red Devils failed to score against a fellow member of the ‘Big Six’ for a sixth time in a row against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
And while accusations of ‘boring, boring Man Utd’ have been levelled at boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team, pundit Carragher doesn’t think the Norwegian is to blame.
He said on Sky Sports MNF: “In that final third they just didn’t have that quality.
“When the ball actually goes up to the front players – is there enough quality?

“You’ve said they’re the top scorers in the Premier League.
“But have they got that player to score in the decisive games, that player that’s going to take them to the league title?
“And when I look at that, people talk about Manchester United, they need a right winger, they went for (Jadon) Sancho, they need a centre-forward more than anything.”
And here SunSport has listed five front men the Red Devils could sign after Carragher’s stark warning.

FREE BETS: GET OVER £2,000 IN SIGN UP OFFERS HERE

    HARRY KANE
SunSport previously reported that Tottenham are unlikely to want to sell Kane and haven’t even set an asking price.
And with his Spurs contract running until 2024, United would have to pay a hefty fee to prise the star man away from North London.
But after Tottenham’s early promise this season it looks set to be another disappointing campaign with the club eighth in the table – albeit they are in the League Cup final.
Kane, 27, is in the peak years of his career and may just decide it’s time to go somewhere he has a legitimate chance of winning the Premier League.

    ERLING HAALAND
Solskjaer is set to be handed a summer war chest – and Haaland is said to be top of his wishlist.
United were in the hunt for Haaland, the most wanted striker in Europe, before he joined Borussia Dortmund last January.
A £65million release clause only kicks in next year, meaning anyone wanting to sign the 20-year-old before then will have to pay an inflated premium of at least £100m.
The striker has been in sensational form this season, scoring 17 Bundesliga goals in 18 games.

    KYLIAN MBAPPE
United legend Rio Ferdinand has begged his former employers to ‘move heaven and earth’ to sign Haaland or Mbappe.
The 42-year-old has urged Solskjaer to sign one of the two strikers as he stated the club cannot allow their Premier League rivals to nab them.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, he said: “Cavani, yes, he’s a good stop-gap but (we need) a centre-forward.
“If people like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe are available, you can’t allow them to go somewhere else and you need to move heaven and earth to get them here.
“United are used to having superstars and those boys would change the narrative at this football club, that’s how good they are.
“There’s room for improvement and opportunity to improve this squad, there’s players out there available, it seems. We need to be in the mix.”

    RAUL JIMENEZ
United have been linked with Wolves’ Mexican striker for months and even made an approach last year.
He is back in training after his horror skull fracture picked up earlier this season.
The Red Devils were told to fork out £60m for him last summer but that fee could have gone down now.

    ANDRE SILVA
SunSport exclusively revealed last Tuesday that United will be offered Eintracht Frankfurt striker Silva for £30m, but only if Edinson Cavani leaves.
Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes is hoping to orchestrate the move with Frankfurt needing to raise funds to buy back Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic.
Portuguese international Silva has been on fire in the Bundesliga this season with 19 goals in 21 appearances – second only to Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski in the scoring charts.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past after leaving Porto to join AC Milan in 2017 for £32m.
Since then, loan switches to Sevilla and then Frankfurt saw him sign for the latter in September, but England remains an attractive option.
The deal – which could be worth up to £30m in pandemic times – is with bringing Jovic back to the club in mind.
