Man Utd eye shock transfer for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva if they fail to land Dortmund star Erling Haaland

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly identified Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland.
Despite losing out on signing the Norwegian marksman to Dortmund last year, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently admitted that he is still ‘following’ the player in Germany.

But it appears the Red Devils are keeping tabs on another player in the Bundesliga ahead of a possible summer move.
According to Sky Germany, the 25-year-old is being chased by United with the club impressed by his goalscoring exploits since joining Frankfurt in 2019.
Portugal international Silva banged in 16 goals in all competitions last term.
And he has already scored more this season, chipping in with 19 goals and five assists in 22 outings.

It has been claimed that Frankfurt are seeking a fee in the region of £26million for their talisman, who is tied down at the club until 2023.
However, the news report states that United face competition from Atletico Madrid in the hunt to secure his services.
United are also rumoured to be interested in another Bundesliga star as they weigh up an offer for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman.
Reports suggest that the Premier League giants could offer the French forward a lucrative £260,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford to tempt him into joining.

Bild claim that Bayern are desperate to offer Coman a new deal to fend off interest from United.
Another player that has been linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams is PAOK forward Christos Tzolis.
The Greek starlet, 19, is said to be on United’s radar after banging in 15 goals in 33 matches.
Though they could miss out on the youngster to Dortmund who are also keen on snapping him up.

Monchengladbach star Rami Bensebaini sends Man Utd ‘come-and-get-me’ transfer plea after failed Arsenal trial

BUNDESLIGA star Rami Bensebaini has sent Manchester United a ‘come and get me’ appeal.
The Borussia Monchengladbach defender and former Arsenal triallist said he has been a lifelong Red Devils fan – and wants to play in England.

Left-back Bensebaini has won the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria, and the French Cup with Rennes.
Rated at £20million, he has helped Borussia into the Champions League last 16 following a fourth-place league finish last season
Bensebaini also revealed his plans to foil his pal and national team-mate Riyad Mahrez when the Germans face Manchester City next week.
The 25-year-old told BBC Afrique: “I have been a Manchester United fan since I was very little.

“The Premier League has always attracted me. Everyone knows that I am a United fan.
“I am with Gladbach for now, and I am happy with them.
“But if one day I get the opportunity to make an upward step, and have a change of scene, I will seriously think about it.”
Arsene Wenger handed Bensebaini a month-long trial with Arsenal in 2013 during his time with Algerian side Paradou AC.

The defender recalled: “I joined Arsenal’s academy. I stayed around a month, and trained with their first team.
“But it was complicated as I didn’t speak English then. Five or six different coaches had to make the decision.
“I also would have needed a European passport to stay. I hung round with the likes of Bacary Sagna and Marouane Chamakh.
“I had gone from the Algerian third division to Arsenal. It was bizarre how quickly things went.
“I ended up leaving, and going to play in Belgium.”
Bensebaini is under contract until 2023. Signed from Rennes in 2019, he has also played for Lierse and Montpellier.

He faces a tough task to thwart Mahrez and Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City next Wednesday.
However he maintained: “I have trained alongside Riyad, and played an Africa Cup of Nations alongside him.
“So I know a bit about how he plays. He is a great player, and it’s down to me to find a way to stop him.
“He is a nice guy, he is very strong, he always listens to advice and knows where he has come from.
“If you possess all those qualities, take things seriously and work as hard as he does, you are sure to be a success.”

Man Utd fans think Dayot Upamecano transfer would have been mistake after horror display against Liverpool

MANCHESTER UNITED fans think they dodged a bullet by not signing Dayot Upamecano after his horror showing vs Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with the RB Leipzig centre-back but they were beaten to him by Bayern Munich.

Frenchman Upamecano will join the German champions at the end of the season in a £37million deal.
Several Premier League clubs including Liverpool and United were linked with him.
However, his performance for Leipzig in their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the first-leg of their last-16 Champions League tie in Budapest had United fans thanking their lucky stars.
The 22-year-old’s positioning was awful and he was not much better on the ball and although he was not at direct fault for either Mo Salah’s or Sadio Mane’s goals, the France international looked far from a £37m player.

He conceded possession 23 times and only twice has a centre-back lost it more in a Champions League match this season
United fan Mark Goldbridge wrote: “Looking at it United might have dodged a bullet with Upamecano.”
John added: “Upamecano is weef man. Looks like Bambi on a football pitch.”
Jake wrote: “Upamecano is awful, what are Bayern thinking?” And Paul quipped: “Only seen him a few times but Upamecano looks like a B-Tech Titus Bramble.”

And former United centre-back Rio Ferdinand was not impressed either.
He told BT Sport: “The defenders for Leipzig were horrendous.

Bayern Munich rule themselves out of Lionel Messi transfer race as chief laughs at his ‘astronomical’ £492m contract

BAYERN MUNICH chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has laughed off suggestions the German giants could try to sign Lionel Messi this summer.
The Argentina legend’s contract expires in June with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City both desperate to secure his signature.

But Bayern Munich won’t be in the mix.
Rummenigge revealed it was unrealistic during an interview with Italian newspaper Correire della Sera.
The 65-year-old said: “I laughed when I saw Messi’s contract with Barcelona.
“I can only say congrats to him for obtaining an astronomical contract.

“But this salary situation needs to be changed.”
Man City and PSG are preparing their own mega-money offers to lure the forward.
It comes after Messi attempted to force through a move last year before LaLiga ruled the free exit clause in his contract had expired, forcing him to remain at Barcelona for the current campaign.
BARCA vs PSG OFFER: GET MESSI AND MBAPPE TO SCORE AT 70/1

But for any switch away, a major obstacle will be the whopping £492m deal the 33-year-old currently collects.
The full details of the icon’s package at the Nou Camp were revealed earlier this month.
And they have dominated the news in Barcelona, with Messi threatening legal action over the leak.
Barca still hope to keep him, but any new extension depends on who wins the club’s presidency election.
And any offer will also be on reduced terms amid the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Davies made up incredible ground on his man in no time as he busted a gut to get back and clear up defensively.
With Bayern Munich trailing 1-0 to Arminia Bielefeld, Davies sensed further danger.
A defence-splitting ball intended for Arminia’s Ritsu Doan seemed to set the Japanese midfielder through on goal.
But Davies raced back and made up remarkable ground on him in the snow to mop up any danger.

Last year he broke the Bundesliga speed record last season at 36.51km/h and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Social media users couldn’t believe what they saw from the rising Canadian star on Monday.
One Bayern fan said: “It’s not only his speed, but the close control he maintains at such speeds, and his balance. He’s a gem.”
Another user tweeted: “Are we really surprised a Canadian can run that fast in the snow? On a serious note, what a player Alphonso Davies is. A world class talent from Canada.”

Davies scored Bayern’s equaliser later in the game as they were held to a 3-3 draw.
The 20-year-old ran onto a Leroy Sane cross and picked out the near corner in the 69th minute.

Bayern Munich 3 Arminia Bielefeld 3: World Champions caught cold on Bunderliga return in six-goal snowstorm thriller

BAYERN MUNICH were caught cold on their return to Bundesliga action as Arminia Bielefeld earned a shock point in Bavarian snowstorm.
The newly-promoted minnows, battling relegation in their first top-flight season since 2009, took a shock two-goal lead against the newly-crowned world champions at Allianz Arena.

Michael Vlap struck after nine minutes before Amos Pieper rose highest from a corner for 2-0.
Hansi Flick’s leaders were playing their first game since winning the Club World Cup in Qatar and appeared to have frozen on the wintery Bavarian night.
A heavy snowstorm blanketed the pitch and led to the first-half being stopped twice to clear the lines.
The half-time break saw the weather clear and Bayern started their comeback in relatively normal conditions, Robert Lewandowski cleverly firing home a reply on the turn.

Yet Arminia were not ready to collapse just yet and Christian Gebauer notched from close-range less than 60 seconds later.
Leroy Sane set up Corentin Tolisso to get Munich back within a goal before the ex-Manchester City winger found space on the right to help tee up the equaliser.

    — Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) February 15, 2021

A lofted ball into the box bounced through to Alphonso Davies, who hammered home to make it 3-3.
There was still time for the Bundesliga leaders to suffer a further scare as Sergio Cordova notched for the visitors – but was called offside.

The point left Bayern five points clear of second-place RB Leipzig before a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt, who sit third, on Saturday.

Despite being held to a draw by the relegation battlers, Munich boss Flick was satisfied with his side’s performance.
He told DAZN: “The team took a mentality onto the pitch in the second-half that was sensational.
“We made life difficult for ourselves, falling 1-3 behind too easily. We have to defend better.”

Julian Nagelsmann puts Premier League on alert as RB Leipzig boss admits he ‘could imagine’ working in England one day

JULIAN NAGELSMANN has put Premier League clubs on red alert after saying he could see himself managing in England in the future.
The RB Leipzig boss has earned widespread acclaim since taking charge of Hoffenhein when he was just 28 during the 2016-17 season.

And the German has continued to earn praise at the helm of Leipzig – taking them to the Champions League semi-finals last term.
And ahead of the Round of 16 clash against Liverpool on Tuesday evening, the 33-year-old has stated that the English top-flight interests him.
However, he warned prospective suitors that he would not be departing Leipzig until his contract expires in 2023.
Speaking to the Telegraph, he said: “I have a contract now until 2023 so I think I will stay in Leipzig.

‘The Premier League is a very interesting league and I can imagine it could be a big aim to be a big manager in the Premier League one day like Jurgen (Klopp) who is very successful.
“It could be a step in the future. But, you know, in soccer it’s not that easy to plan how long will you be a manager in Leipzig?
“When will you go to the Premier League? I could imagine going to the Premier League.
“I could imagine staying as a manager in the Bundesliga for my whole career. It’s cool to be a manager in my own country, I love it.

“But then perhaps in the future we can meet face-to-face in the Premier League, who knows.”

Nagelsmann – who came third in Uefa’s Men’s Coach of the Year award last season – has been linked with making the move to England within the last year.
It was claimed in November that Manchester United were eyeing him up should they have decided to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And Manchester City were also said to be interested in Nagelsmann prior to Pep Guardiola’s contract extension.
Nagelsmann is currently fourth favourite to replace Klopp at Anfield if the ex-Borussia Dortmund gaffer parts ways with the Reds.
