Man Utd fans go wild as Rashford’s cryptic late-night Twitter post appears to ‘confirm’ Sancho transfer arrival

MANCHESTER UNITED fans went wild when Jadon Sancho’s transfer appears to be confirmed – by none other than Marcus Rashford. The Borussia Dortmund winger, 21, is the Red Devils’ No1 target this summer.

And with the two clubs edging closer and closer to a deal, Rashford’s cryptic tweet suggested it is already done.
The United forward – currently with Sancho at the Euros – was asked by a fan account to ‘announce Sancho Marcus’.
And he simply replied: “Yes x.”
Unsurprisingly, the post sent excited supporters into a frenzy on social media.
One said: “Crying, is this how we’re announcing the Sancho deal?”
Another commented: “No way after 2 years of waiting this is how it’s announced LOOOOOOOOL.”
And a third replied: “I love how he hasn’t deleted it.”
Meanwhile, one plucky Manchester City fan hoped to get a similar tweet from Raheem Sterling to confirm Jack Grealish’s £100million Etihad switch.

Rashford’s tweet was sent at 10.51pm last night, just hours after England booked their spot in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.
Both Rashford and Sancho were unused subs in the famous 2-0 win over Germany at Wembley.
And the Old Trafford hero confirmed on Tuesday morning it was not him who sent the tweet.
He added: “A little hack and I’m back. Morning all.”
But even if the ‘Rashford’ tweet was a little premature, it is understood Sancho’s £77.5m transfer is on the brink of being confirmed.
A third official bid from the Old Trafford club has reportedly been accepted by Dortmund for the wide man.
A little hack and I’m back. Morning all ♥️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿— Marcus Rashford MBE (@MarcusRashford) June 30, 2021

All that is left for the two sides to agree is any potential add-ons and instalments of the fee but that is not thought to be an issue.
As revealed by SunSport, Sancho is closing in on a five-year deal worth £350,000 per week at Old Trafford.
That will see his wages more than trebled from the £100,000-a-week deal he is on at the Westfalenstadion and make him the second-highest earner in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
United’s path to Sancho was made easier after Dortmund were given the green light to sign Donyell Malen as his replacement.

Jadon Sancho’s Man Utd transfer will be great but without two more signings we’ll fall further behind City and Chelsea

SANCHO’S arrival is exciting but Solskjaer needs more if he’s to compete. Manchester United have had an interest in Jadon Sancho for at least a year, and over the next few weeks, are expected to finally complete his transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

A fee of around £73million (€85m) is close to being agreed between United and the German side, with only the final structure of the deal and instalments left to finalise.
It has been a frustrating Euro 2020 tournament for Sancho, 21, who has not started a single match despite recording 17 goals and 15 assists for Dortmund last season.
This has forced many pundits in Germany to question why he has not featured more during the tournament for his country.
Sancho will be added to a list of attacking players that could really cause some damage in the Premier League next season.
Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are all waiting to play alongside Sancho.
And it provides United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with an array of attacking talent we have not seen since Sir Alex Ferguson’s glory days at the club.
Sancho provides natural width, pace, but more importantly assists, and an eye for goal.
He is the typical wide forward who will be expected to take United onto another level and close the gap on Manchester City.
Such are United’s shortcomings in other positions, the fear amongst some fans is that Sancho’s arrival will be a great and welcome addition.
Sancho would give Man United’s forward ranks a welcome injection of pace and trickeryCredit: AFP

However, if a central defender or central midfielder is not added as well, then Solskjaer’s United might struggle once again to win a trophy or mount a serious title challenge.
The central defensive area is one United should be looking at with equal urgency.
The team’s defence was sloppy and caught out on with increasing regularity last campaign – and the opposition knew they could easily cause United’s brittle back four problems.

Raphaël Varane’s long-term future is clouded in uncertainty, and his experience would be a welcome addition next to Harry Maguire.
The Frenchman was on Ferguson’s transfer list of defenders in 2011 but opted for Real Madrid instead of a move to the North-West of England.
Man United have been heavily linked with a move for Real Madrid and France star Raphael VaraneCredit: Getty
Varane’s French teammate Jules Koundé has also been linked, but is the favourite to replace Varane should he leave the Spanish giants.
The other name heavily linked is Villarreal’s central defender Pau Torres, who capped a fine season with a victory against United in the Europa League final.
If Varane is out of reach, the young Spaniard could be the one United turn to.
In front of the back four, Fred and Scott McTominay have been Solskjaer’s “go to” men but neither have the necessary quality whilst in possession.
Rennes Eduardo Camavinga is being chased by United and Paris Saint-Germain.
Villarreal and Spain’s Pau Torres is reported to be a Man United transfer targetCredit: Rex
And if United could get a deal over the line for the youngster alongside Sancho and Varane or Torres, then United might have a fighting chance next season.
If it’s Sancho and very little else arrives, you’d expect United to fall further behind City and an improving Chelsea team under Thomas Tuchel.
We wait and see if the Glazer family are truly serious about making United great again on the pitch.

Gary Neville ‘bored’ by Jadon Sancho transfer to Man Utd as legend blasts drawn out saga and eyes more arrivals

JADON SANCHO signing for Manchester United is now such a formality that Gary Neville has grown ‘bored’ of the transfer saga. The Red Devils are finally on the verge of sealing a deal for the Borussia Dortmund winger.

Earlier this month, United agreed a £91million, five-year contract with Sancho – as revealed by SunSport.
And reports suggest the clubs are closing in on a transfer fee in the region of £80m.
Club legend Neville, 46, has admitted his exhaustion at the saga after his old team spent most of last summer being strongly linked with Sancho.
Therefore, the sight of the 21-year-old finally stepping onto the Old Trafford pitch may not feel as special as he had hoped.
Neville tweeted: “Manchester United closing in on Sancho again!
“A transfer should be a joy and a moment of excitement.

Manchester United Closing in on Sancho Again! A transfer should be a joy and a moment of excitement . I’ve never been more bored by a transfer in my life to the point I feel like he’s already signed and I want to know who is next already. Not the lads fault at all I should say!— Gary Neville (@GNev2) June 26, 2021

“I’ve never been more bored by a transfer in my life to the point I feel like he’s already signed and I want to know who is next already.
“Not the lad’s fault at all I should say!”
Sancho is currently with England at Euro 2020.
Despite being yet to start a game for Gareth Southgate’s side, he is not expected to complete his Manchester move until after the tournament.

Neville may not have long to wait to enjoy whoever may follow Sancho through the door with United plotting a busy summer.
A new centre-back is on the agenda and Real Madrid star Raphael Varane is strongly linked with a move.
Sevilla’s Jules Kounde is another target although Chelsea and Tottenham are set to provide competition for the France international.

Leicester and Newcastle hope to land Ozan Kabak in bargain transfer from cash-strapped Schalke after Euro 2020 snub

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs including Leicester and Newcastle are reportedly eyeing a cut-price deal for Ozan Kabak. The centre-back cost Schalke £13million when signing from Stuttgart two years ago and was touted as a star of the future.
Ozan Kabak is facing an uncertain summer while Schalke look for a buyerCredit: Reuters
However, the German club’s relegation from the Bundesliga and Kabak’s poor form look set to wreck their chances of making a profit on the 21-year-old.
Schalke allowed him to join Liverpool on loan in January for just £1m – at the hope the Reds secured his permanent transfer for an extra £17m.
An underwhelming stint at Anfield consisting of just 13 appearances meant Jurgen Klopp refused the option to enact his purchase clause.
And Kabak was left on the bench for all three of Turkey’s Euro 2020 games as his country left the tournament without winning a point.
That leaves Schalke with little hope of making any money out of his sale, which appears to be likely nevertheless with the Gelsenkirchen club almost £200m in debt ahead of a season in the 2. Bundesliga.
According to Bild, a number of clubs are tentatively interested in a deal.
They include Leicester, Newcastle and Crystal Palace, plus French teams Nice and Rennes.
It is speculated that a bid of £13m should be enough to tempt a transfer.
BETTING SPECIAL: GET ENGLAND TO BEAT GERMANY AT 14/1

Steve Bruce’s Newcastle are also linked with a move for Fulham’s £10m centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo.
While Leicester need to replace recently-retired club captain Wes Morgan and will also splash out on RB Salzburg forward Patson Daka.
Crystal Palace’s transfer business is expected to kick up a gear once a new manager is found, with SunSport revealing last night that Swansea’s Steve Cooper is their new first-choice target.

Erling Haaland rubbishes claims he spent £430k on dinner in Mykonos as he enjoys summer holiday on Greek island

BORUSSIA DORTMUND striker Erling Haaland has shot down reports of him spending £430,000 at a restaurant in Mykonos. The 20-year-old has been spending time in the Greek island where he has even been partying with Manchester City Riyad Mahrez.

With Norway failing to qualify for Euro 2020, the centre-forward jetted off to Greece to bask in the sun by the Aegean Sea.
And reports in Greece have claimed he has been enjoying himself too much, with the ex-Red Bull Salzburg ace said to have forked out £430k during a six-hour stay at an eatery.
Journalist Stefan Bienkowski stated that Haaland racked up a mammoth bill, before generously tipping staff £25,000.
He tweeted: “Greek sports newspaper Sportime are reporting that Dortmund striker Erling Haaland spent €500k in six hours at a restaurant on the island of Mykonos and ended up leaving a €30k tip for the staff.”
But Haaland was quick to rubbish the claim, as he commented: “I think they forgot the main courses. Fake news.”
Haaland is making the most of his holiday time before he reports back to pre-season duty at Signal Iduna Park.
The former Molde marksman enjoyed a superb 2020-21 campaign where he chipped in with an incredible 41 goals and 12 assists in 41 matches in all competitions.
Two of those strikes came in the German Cup final where he starred in Dortmund’s 4-1 victory against RB Leipzig.

Real Madrid target Haaland has been partying hard in Mykonos during his free time

He has been heavily linked with a move away from BVB this summer, with the player claimed to have agreed personal terms with Chelsea.
Meanwhile Real Madrid could make a move for Haaland as Carlo Ancelotti looks to bolster his attack.
And Bayern Munich are said to be plotting a sensational swoop for him should Robert Lewandowski depart the Allianz Arena.
Dortmund are likely only to entertain offers of around £150m for Haaland this summer, which could put off potential suitors.
Clubs could wait until next year to sign Haaland with the striker available for just £65m due to a clause in his contract.

Dortmund set to reinvest £77m Jadon Sancho fee into Arsenal reject Donyell Malen as Man Utd close in on transfer

BORUSSIA DORTMUND are reportedly interested in signing PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen. And the German club could use some of the money from Jadon Sancho’s imminent sale to Manchester United to fund the move.
Borussia Dortmund are planning to sign Donyell Malen as Jadon Sancho’s replacement
Manchester United are closing in on a move for Jadon Sancho
Personal terms between Sancho and United have been agreed, with the Red Devils now needing to stump up an additional £8.5million to complete the deal.
Dortmund are plotting a £25m move for Malen, according to German outlet Bild.
And talks between Dortmund and Malen’s agent Mino Raiola have already begun.
The fee for the Netherlands international could rise but the Bundesliga club view the 22-year-old as Sancho’s replacement.
Dortmund will reportedly need to move quickly to complete the deal due to interest from elsewhere, with Liverpool one of the clubs said to be tracking him.
The Reds are believed to have opened transfer talks with PSV after he scored 19 goals in 32 Eredivisie games last season.
And Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has warned he will pull out of talks if PSV seek to drive up a bidding war due to the interest in Malen.
BETTING SPECIAL: GET ENGLAND TO BEAT GERMANY AT 14/1

But if a deal is completed it would be some turnaround for Malen, after he was sold for less than £1m by Arsenal in 2018.
Malen has mostly operated as a central striker for PSV but he can also play on the wing, making him an ideal replacement for Sancho.
The England star has been courted by United since last summer but it appears the Red Devils are finally closing in on an £80m move for the winger.

But the clubs remain apart in terms of valuation for the 21-year-old England international.
Manchester Evening News report that United are £8.5million shy of Dortmund’s valuation.
The report states that Dortmund are believed to want £6m more up front and £2.5m in add-ons on top of what United are currently offering.
Man Utd have made a £72m bid to land Sancho this summer, and are prepared to go up to £80m.
Personal terms based on a five-year deal worth £350,000-a-week have already been agreed.
The Red Devils have been after Sancho for a while and thought they had their man last summer.
But they refused to meet Dortmund’s asking price of £110m back then.
