      Fulham set to complete £6m transfer for Wolfsburg’s Kevin Mbabu with ex-Newcastle star returning to Premier League

      FULHAM are set to complete the signing of Swiss right-back Kevin Mbabu after he completed his medical over the weekend.The Cottagers have agreed a fee of £6.4million with German club Wolfsburg to land Mbabu.

      Manager Marco Silva has been keen to improve across the board this summer as he bids to end Fulham’s yo-yo run of promotion followed by relegation now they are back in the Premier League.
      Mbabu, 27, has experience of English football thanks to a spell with Newcastle from 2013 to 2017.
      Mbabu has 22 caps for Switzerland and will be looking to make a much bigger impact on the Premier League having made just three top-flight appearances during his time with the Magpies.
      The full-back spent much time out on loan away from St. James’ Park at Rangers and Young Boys before making the switch to the Swiss club permanent.

      It took the £51.4million new boy less than 12 minutes to get on the scoresheet as he slid home a cross from Jack Grealish.
      And City fans will be hoping it opens the floodgates with the first game of their Prem title defence at West Ham less than two weeks away.
      The former Borussia Dortmund forward was deemed not to be ready to play against Club America in Houston during the week but was named in the starting XI here.
      After an initial 15 minute delay due to the storms, the game got under way and what a start it was.

      Less than 12 minutes had gone when the 22-year-old striker stretched to tap home a cross from the left by Grealish.
      It was only a friendly but the £51.4 million ace was mobbed by his team-mates – who seem as excited about his arrival as the fans do.
      No sooner had those celebrations died down though, the players were off again with lightning closing in and tornados forecast.
      The players spent 45 minutes off the pitch and then had to warm up again – with the match reduced to 40 minutes each half.

      City had to fly back to Manchester later in the evening and had little room for manoeuvre with the timings.

      He had the ball in the net for a second time just before the break – but Bernardo Silva was flagged just offside as he laid it back for Haaland to score.
      He had made quite an impression but did not return after the break, making way for fellow new boy Julian Alvarez.
      The Argentina international had a couple of chances himself, firing an effort just wide of the post and trying an ambitious volley that flew just over the bar.
      Young sub Rico Lewis danced through the German defence and thumped a shot against the post in the closing stages but Haaland’s strike proved to be enough.

      Only this week he had the football world in hysterics when he savagely shot down a fans’ wish that he sign for Arsenal by laughing and saying a stern ‘No!’ Back in May, Muller, now 32, signed a new deal with the club that’ll keep him at Bayern till 2024. Hilariously, it was announced with a picture of the German idol sitting in a room reminiscent of his own during his childhood. Speaking about his new deal, Muller said: “I’m delighted to have extended my contract with FC Bayern Munich until 2024 today. “The journey we’ve been on since I joined the FCB academy in 2000 has been a fantastic success story up to now. “It gives me immense pleasure to hold up the red colours year after year, on and off the pitch – even if the wind blows in your face from time to time. “So, let’s keep going together!” Married to professional horse trainer Lisa, he also owns a nag called Dave, loves dressing up in Lederhosen and is always clowning around.       A notorious prankster, Muller doesn’t have a horse called Star or Spirit or Lucky… he’s opted for the common human name Dave instead. His missus has her own stables, which Muller calls himself the managing director of carrots at because Bayern permit him from riding.       The jester of Bavaria knows exactly how to get a crowd going – and we mean that literally. The scene was set, it was a crunch Champions League quarter-final tie against Porto in 2015. Needing a 2-0 win, Bayern dismantled the Portuguese giants 6-1 in a thrilling blowout to win 7-4 on aggregate. Afterwards, the players saluted their faithful fans who were in fine voice. Realising his opportunity, Thomas ran straight into the crowd and grabbed a megaphone from one of the fans. And Muller also told a reporter he would wipe his backside with his Golden Boot trophy following Germany’s 2014 World Cup win.       Muller was in jovial mood after Bayern Munich’s thumping 8-2 win over Barcelona in 2020.  But his attempt at a joke left the assembled media unamused.
